At least Nebraska honorably played in the Bowl Alliance National Championship game and took home the crystal football. A trophy Michigan will never be able to put in their trophy case. Nebraska was the true national champion.

Theirs no doubt that FSU placed more players in the NFL in the 97-98 season and the following 2 season than Michigan did. Theirs no doubt that the Rose Bowl was a johnny come lately joining the BCS. Michigan hid in the Rose Bowl in their co-championship season. FSU lost in the Swamp in the last minute to Florida & if it was not for that would have played in the Bowl Alliance national championship game against Nebraska. FSU was the best team in the nation in the 97'-98' season. No Rose Bowl hiding for Nebraska or FSU. Michigan is a media darling and had not won a national championship in 50 years. Their was a sympathy vote for Michigan by the Rose Bowl circuit teams.
