  • We'll show you Thunder Ridge Campground and Meadow Ridge Campground above Rampart Reservoir, Colorado. Plus, we'll take you on a tour of Promontory Point Picnic Area and a trail beside the lake. Welcome to Wander Wonders. I'm Trisha and along with my husband, Randy, we camped at both campgrounds at Rampart Reservoir just outside Colorado Springs. The dispersed camping spots were full so we headed into beautiful campgrounds. Our site, surrounded by aspen trees which were beginning to turn brilliant gold in late September, overlooked the deep sapphire blue lake. The area offers hiking, biking, and small craft boating (no swimming) amongst the huge boulders that decorate the water's edge. In this video, we also tour the picnic area and hike around portions of the lake. It's like a huge playground here! Join us!!!

Thank you thank you thank you for sharing your trip with us. My family just purchased a travel trailer last year and Ive been searching for campgrounds to visit just outside of Colorado Springs area. I actually plan on visiting Thunder Ridge and several other campgrounds in that area, so I truly appreciate your video! :o) I do have a question though - Isn't these campgrounds by reservation only? If so, how are you able to just move from site to site? Also, how do you get a lifetime park pass? We purchased a park pass in 2023 but it's only good for a full 12 months. I would love to have a lifetime pass because we plan on camping for many years to come. Once again, I appreciate the time it took to film this video. Keep it coming

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. You are going to have soooo much fun. We did not pre-reserve for that area. Maybe they have changed the rules but it was really flexible. We were there in mid September so maybe since it wasn't high season? We purchased the Lifetime America the Beautiful Access Pass after my husband became a senior citizen. I know that the cost has gone up but I thought that you can still get one. Seniors get additional benefits. There are different levels. Go to NPS.gov
Thanks, for watching and have a great time! ~ Trisha

What camp spot was this that you ended up in? Was it a campground or dispersed? Sorry to bother you but I would love to go up there. Thank you!!

We stayed on several spots in both campgrounds but I don't remember the numbers. It is a pay campground but very reasonable. Have a great time! Trisha

@@jillsmith1134 fantastic! Were the wild roses in bloom? We were there in September and there were tons of red rose hips. I thought it must be beautiful when they're in bloom. Trisha
