We were 'glamping' and nomads before we knew 😳 it was a thing! 😂😂😂 House burned so son and i, with dog & a cat hit the road in a car. Thankfully had a Natl Park pass. We hit thrift stores and picked up all kinds of camp gear along oyr travels. We even picked up a couple hugh canvas tents along the way. Rain, snow and extreme heat - we were comfy and had a great time. My son is now in his 40s and still camps & backpacks. He was a couple weeks old his 1st camp trip. He did same with his daughter. Great video. We are a family of 8 who love to camp. I hate bins though. I’ve learned a large plastic Sterilite drawer system works better. In the top drawer, we keep our kitchen stuff, the middle drawer is misc (like meds, bug spray, clothes lines, lights, etc). Our bottom drawer is 8 each of water shoes, swimsuits, and quick drying towels. When we arrive at our campsite, we just take out each drawer, pick up the whole system, move it close to the picnic table, and put the drawers back in. I can then prep food on the top on a cutting board like a counter. All my kitchen stuff is within each reach underneath. Whenever we leave our site, we just pick it up and load it back into our trunk. No rummaging for things at the bottom of a bin. We’ve camped across the country and this has been the best system for having a new campsite every few days.
We also learned that a 12 person tent does not work. Way too big for the footprint of national parks. At 8 people, you move to two 6 people tents. No one wants to try to fall asleep while 7 others roll around on vinyl. Just advice for other large families out there.
Hey thanks! 😃 And nice that’s awesome whatever works for us can’t be wrong! 😎🤙🏽 And yeah we usually use our 6 person tent, gives us plenty of room and still fits in the site. 👊🏽
I do a lot of camping and I see a lot of these kind of videos, this is one of the most practical not over the top "bring your house whit you" rig. Congrats
Haha thanks 👊🏽😁 Car camping is interesting cause you have that extra room to go a little nuts if you want to try to be a little more comfortable or try out some new stuff 😊
I’ve got camping gear for all types of camping. No matter how I camp, the most important thing to me is being organized and having a system. I’ve been doing it for a while and still enjoy videos like this. Every trip can just get better by hearing from others. Great video, and very useful information!
Hey thanks! Really appreciate the nice comment! 👊🏽😃 Definitely good to try and stay organized that’s for sure, and it all can be very subjective and situational. 😊🤙🏽 Thanks again, and thanks for watching!
This is great! I just donated everything I owned, became minimalist and it’s 65 is going to take a road trip with my cat! These are great tips, it’s been a while since I camped! I live in New York and I’m heading down south visiting friends on the way as well as camping and B&B.
Great tip about where the zipper is located on your sleeping bag. I honestly didn't know you could get sleeping bags with zippers on different sides. I always thought the zipper was in the same place for all sleeping bags. Learned something new today. A fire starter trick that I like to use is petroleum jelly and cotton balls. I usually take a zipper bag, put a blob of petroleum jelly in the bag, and then throw in some cotton balls. I then just "massage" the bag coating the cotton balls. A little petroleum jelly will coat a lot of cotton balls. My #1 must-have in my first aid kit is burn cream (a really GOOD burn cream). Burn cream saved my arm and camping trip one time and I won't camp without it.
Yes!!! Burn cream is a must. My 6yo put his hand on the cooking grate as it was cooling. I brought a first aid kit and we were able to "ice" and bandage his blisters at a remote location. 😢 The next year I sliced open my finger while washing dishes in the basin. Ugh! So awful. Always carry a first aid kit with basic tools/equipment even if you have to make your own.
An absolute must include, for me, is a roll of duct tape! (broken bones, large bleeding wounds, etc) I do advise against using it directly on skin . Instead use a section of the duct tape and sticky to sticky then wrap around as needed! You get a tight wrap with the tape actually adhering to itself rather than skin! Simply pull out the length necessary and double it back on itself as needed. Also, Fire starter: cotton balls with a touch of Vaseline (kept in a ziplock baggie) and flint and steel!
Nice… Oh yeah duct tape is always useful! 😁🤙🏽 Cotton and vaseline definitely works. I just prefer the dryer lint cause it’s just free, not messy at all, works great 🤷🏻♂️😊 So many things you can use for fire starter it’s fun to experiment. 😊 Thanks for the comment!
We Premake our meals such as chili,, hamburger helper, and stew and freeze it in the deepfreeze,,, the day of we take it and put it into coolers with block ice we make out of 2 litre plastic bottles,,, saves ALOT of heartache for worrying about ice!!! Lasts a week or so!!!!!
Yes frozen meals are the way to go 100%. You can even get inspiration from "dump meal" style things. Typically people pack the meals in gallon freezer bags and put them in crock pot or pressure cooker, but you can simmer them in a pot just as well.
I definitely need to invest in storage bins. My tent camping experience has been messy, with crap all over the place in the car and not remembering what I packed or didn't pack. One trip, I took too much, the next, I decided to cut it down but didn't take enough. I just hated scavenging around in the car to see what I packed or forgot.
Yeah having the bins really makes it much easier for sure. 😊 This way you always know that say something for cooking must be in the cooking bin, and so on. We got ours at Home Depot! 🤙🏽
My buddys when they come camping then they throw a bunch of garbage bags full of their stuff and then say I spent to much when I get a yeti cooler and then some bins for my gear . Then they complain the next day that they had shit sleeps , hungry , didn’t bring enough water etc lol
First aid kit item: Liquid Skin. I've started using a couple of cordless, rechargeable lamps. I buy the ones with a red and green light option so they don't attract bugs. I have liquid fuel and propane lanterns, but the red/green lamps are game changers. I did find some amber tinted porpane lantern globes that are not supposed to attract bugs too much, I just haven't used them yet. I love my french press!!! I use a simmer pad when cooking on my propane stove. It spreads the flame out, so you don't have a 3 in super hot spot in the middle of your pan. Thermo-cell bug repellant. Awesome product. I have the same fan that you showed. It's a good one. I have a couple of others that fold flat, but become A frame shaped when deployed. Each side is about 1ft square. They have a solar panel on one side. In good light, they will run full speed and stay fully charged. They also have a light, serve as a battery back up in a pinch, and they are water proof. I also use them in my off grid hunting cabin when I'm running a propane heater to circulate the air and to stop all the hot air from collecting at the ceiling.
I haven't finished the video but in addition to regular garbage bags I would recommend packing a few contractor bag's. Especially if you have a ... potty station. The frozen water bottle idea is completely genius!!! Also for bugs if you can deal with and especially 30 minutes before bed set out red lights they don't attract bugs as much due to the different wave length.
Great info guys My wife also came up with camping totes like the ones you have. One thing that helps the cooler is precooling the nite before. We have a 55 quart lifetime and it stays cold for days!!!!!!
Love my cot and self inflating sleeping pad. Can place all my stuff under the cot which keeps the area organized. I have an 8 person tent with over 6 foot height. Can put zero gravity chair and table in the cot as well as potty.LUCI LIGHTS ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! Also new toy is Portable Propane Gas Fire Pit which I saw someone had at a campground. Can put that under the canopy when the weather is crappy. Thermacel for mosquito repellent. Not cheap but effective.
I just found your channel yesterday and love your videos. I'm car camping with my dog in a couple weeks for 2 weeks and your videos have really helped with the camping parts! Plus you all are such a cute couple..I wanted to also add a lot of vehicles, especially newer ones come with an emergency kit..usually basic first aid but has an emergency reflective blanket etc too..i recommend adding benadryll type med too..i had an allergic reaction after being bit and it really helped.then just add to it like you said for the more serious situation. Thanks again!!
Thanks so much! 😃 Really happy to hear you’re enjoying the videos glad they’re helpful! You might enjoy the video showing how I put together my little prescription bottle survival kits haha they’re pretty cool to make and come in handy. I always keep some Benadryl in them 😉 Thanks again for the nice comment and thanks for watching! Hope you have fun on your trip! 😊
I find it easy to use a butane torch for lighting charcoal or a campfire. The ones that fit right onto a can of butane. I got the idea when I was a Chef. We used them for desserts and to light chafing dishes. The torch itself would fit in the palm of your hand. One click. Spark, fire, easy, clean.
Little crème brûlée huh? 🔥😎 Nice. Haha yeah that’s definitely one of the easiest ways to do it! I’m just a psycho and like to have fun ways to do it as if it were a survival situation, without many resources. That is of course unless I’m freezing in the morning, then it’s just a lighter. 😂🤙🏽
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video! And nice! 😎😃 Haha yeah we’ve seen them a few times as well and they’re still great live which is really really impressive. Definitely one of our favorites. 😊🤙🏽
The “let her talk” comments are so funny to me. My husband is the talker as well. If I have something to say then I’ll say but 90 percent of the time I’m the yeah yeah and head nodder as well. We all have different communication styles. I thought it was a great video for beginners. Thank you!
@@Brezooka Haha yeah we’ve pretty much just stopped caring what people think at this point because it’s impossible to please everyone on social media. Someone will always have something negative to say. Just part of the game. 🤦🏻♂️😂 Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed the video. ☺️🤙🏽
Dryer lint is a great fire starter. Shredded jute is great too. My personal favorite is duct tape, when you tightly roll it into what looks like a little cigarette, it holds its ember for so long.
Tip re: light attracting bugs... Use s red bulb to do your tasks if firelight isn't feasible. I've found best results using a red light off my tailgate while a blue/white lantern is hung up a number of paces away from from the work area.
Great video! Just stumbled upon your channel. The tip to light White sage to repel insects after dusk is a great idea. My wife freaks out about bugs and insects, yet still loves a bit of adventure. So we'll see how the sage works this weekend when we camp at the Great smokies!
Thanks! Welcome to the channel hope you enjoy it! 😃🤙🏽 The sage definitely helps! Some people have also recommended the Thermacell MR300 Portable Mosquito Repeller, but we haven’t tried one yet. Hope you have a fun and safe trip this weekend! Thanks for the nice comment and thanks for watching! ☺️
Going on a camping trip next week to Colorado and we'll be in the mountains, which I've never camped in, so this video is perfect! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and I did take notes, so, hopefully, I survive. Thanks again!
Nice 😃🤙🏽 Hahaha I’m sure you’ll survive! Glad the video helped you out! Definitely bring a few extra layers just to have it’s always chilly at higher elevation! Have a blast! 😊
What gets me is people buy those( camping ) RVS that cost as much as a house and have all the comforts of home , how are kids going to learn about and enjoy nature if they are playing video games on a flatscreen tv ? Not only that but if you get into a bad traffic accident there goes everything you have in the RV
Hahaha yeah… but hey to each their own 🤷🏻♂️😊 I understand having the passion to survival style camp with as little gear as possible, to wanting or even needing to be out there with as much comfort as you can get. It really just depends on the individual’s needs, their level of passion for it, and what they want to get out of it. As long as you’re having fun God bless. ☺️🤙🏽
A lot of people bring very small tents. I do a lot of backpacking and my backpacking tents are not the same as my car camping tents. I like my 8-person tent for car camping, even when camping alone. I use a queen size inflatable mattress. Full comfort for the car camping. For the price of a week in a budget hotel, you can get set up with gear that will last for decades. After that, your adventures cost 5 to 20 bucks per day for accommodations. Campgrounds have showers, flush toilets, and everything you need. A week long vacation for 100 bucks. Even less if you go to state or blm land that costs nothing. If you have the right gear it is extremely comfortable. Taking some of the younger grandkids next week to a state park that has showers and flush toilets. 12 bucks per night, peak season cost.
Absolutely correct about tent size. A four person tent provides enough space to cram four people inside to sleep, but provides little else. If you encounter great weather throughout your trip, sleeping is all you might use your tent for. However, if the weather turns bad and it pours rain for 16 hours, four people in a four person tent is not going to be fun. Always nice to have the extra space for comfortably changing clothes, especially if swimming is on your agenda, and there's always things that you need to store and keep dry.
Yes! I have an eight person tent with steel poles. It's heavy, but the poles don't break like the fiberglass ones. That thing took Gale force winds head on and was just fine
We went camping last weekend for the first time since our son was born. He’s only 3, but my husband is above average height and we got a 10 person tent so that we had PLENTY of room for all of our bedding, suitcases, etc. and even he could stand up in it.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it! 😃 We have a whole camping playlist now you can check out, lol might give you some more ideas, and if you have any questions don’t hesitate. 😉🤙🏽
Usually out here by us each campsite at actually campgrounds come with a bear box to put your food and cooler. If you’re backpacking or on blm land or whatever you kind of have to be more creative and just do what you can. Bear containers, hanging stuff from trees, I guess your car is better than nothing sometimes but you have to be careful because we’ve seen bears rip cars apart to get at food. Depends on your environment too, if there aren’t any bears you don’t have to worry as much haha
Thanks! 😃 Haha this was actually up at Castaic Lake, CA where we fish all the time, they do still have some campsites, but some of them have been closed for some odd reason. It is beautiful up there though for sure we love it. Thanks for the nice comment, and thanks for watching we really appreciate it. 😊🤙🏽
Glamping, My wife's idea if camping! I used to love Back country backpacking. Have not done that in a while! Kids and wife like it much more comfortable!
Just car camping 🤷🏻♂️😊 You really want “Glamping” you buy that RV 😂🤙🏽 But yeah back country stuff is a little hardcore for the average person, although very fun. 😎
Haha no problem that’s super annoying when it’s on the wrong side for you!!! 🤦🏻♂️😂 Stoked you’re enjoying the videos thanks for the nice comment and thanks for watching ☺️🤙🏽
We are 6 and have a 16 person three bedroom cabin tent 😭 it’s kind of hard to set up in a small space and I didn’t know most campsites have size restrictions but we’ve never been told anything.
The most important thing with camping is PREPARATION. Decide WHERE, WHEN and WHAT TYPE of camping you want to do, before you consider the gear you need, then RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! Don't buy expensive gear until you know exactly why you need it, and WATCH THE WEATHER leading up to the trip, and be prepared to alter or cancel a trip if necessary.
hey guys, you were talking about coffee, i use the Nescafe single pack coffee, they come in multiple good flavours and very compactable and easy to make.
My husband left our pillows on the vehicle when we quickly packed after a mountain lion screamed right behind me at a rustic spot. We left in the dark. I never saw them fall. They were my favorite pillows ever
We are going to a family reunion at a state park. My brother said they were going to hire movers to move the house for the weekend😝 (We are staying in cabins.)
You showed your pillow and said it takes 2 seconds to blow up. Now, I have breathing problems, is there a pillow that I can take my time and blow up in 30 seconds instead of 2 seconds like you? Also, what if I don't use a pillow and just use my sweater or jacket instead? How long would that take to blow up?
Absolutely the pillows we have you can take up to 6 hours to blow up, but that’s the limit. If you can’t get it done in 6 hours you have to start all over again which is very frustrating. Also, if you want to blow up your sweater or jacket that’s totally doable, but only if they are a size medium or smaller.
Coffee is definitely a must-have while camping. We moved from using a french press to the aeropress - very fast, great coffee, and practically no cleanup other than a quick rinse! Not to mention lightweight and not easily broken. Have you given that a try?
Haven’t tried it! Was under the impression that it didn’t make much coffee at one time and was more for like a solo trip! But I’ve heard many people say they like it 😊
@@WhereWeWild It's not a huge amount of coffee at a time - the highest marking makes a small cup, but only takes like 30 seconds to press the water through, and another minute or so before that, using the "inverted" method - ruclips.net/video/4ACh1o5EgaA/видео.html
@@WhereWeWild Sounds like a good video! For anything more than making coffee for maybe two people, the Aeropress probably isn't that great compared to something that can do more at a time. Works good in my case, on top of the ease of cleanup. Either way is great though, as long as you get your coffee in you! ☕
When it comes to coffee we formerly used an old school aluminum percolator that made good coffee, but we came across a stainless Steel mesh pour over funnel that is great! Doesn’t the burning sage smell like weed?
Oh really we never had luck with the aluminum percolator, French press is way better for us. Glad you found your way of doing it with the pour over! 🤙🏽 Hahaha and no not at all, it smells like sage 😃
Hmmm that’s a tricky one, tough to recommend a specific tent for you. There are a bunch of factors as to which one will be best for you personally ya know? Do you need a big family tent or a 1 man backpacking tent, does it have to be lightweight to hike in with or can you pack it in the car, how much money do you want to spend on it… stuff like that. They have ratings for how waterproof they claim to be, and you can even buy waterproofing spray to hit any tent with if you want. Check out this article on waterproof tents, it might give you some ideas and more information about them then I will be able to convey through this comment section. Hope it helps you. 👊🏽😊 theatlasheart.com/best-waterproof-tent/
I break things down to rooms tents are your bedroom and sometime living room Outside, living room Kitchen ,what you need to cook and eat with. Try not to use a single use item. Like that French press, just saying. I also freeze food and heat it up at camp.Just ho down the frozen food section and you'll get lots of ideas. You can freeze mashed potatoes but not boiled potatoes.
No problem! 😊 Awe don’t worry it’s fun! Just go into it with an open positive attitude and don’t allow any fears or anxiety to control your experience! Try your best to be mindful and present, take things as they come, and just appreciate the beauty of nature that surrounds you. Even if things don’t go perfectly, you have the power to make the absolute best of it and have a great time. ❤️😉 Thanks for watching.
For those who don’t know. What tents call a person is the space for just under 6 foot by 20-22 inches wide. Recently with the addition of the 25” sleeping pads some tents have made it for 25 inches as opposed to 20-22…. And there is no extra room. So if you are car camping you can go nuts with the size. I have a hammock, a trekking pole single, a self standing single & double and a six person tent. Which do you think I take car camping???
Pray the campgrounds have clean bathrooms! 🙏🏽😃😂 That’s never the case is it, would be sweet though! Hahaha it all depends on the situation and how far out there you are. Backpacking it’s basically just bringing your little shovel to dig a small hole and burry it, and not leave any garage like your toilet paper behind. Bagging it and getting it to a garbage can. Definitely not fun haha but that’s the game. Always try to leave no trace. A clever way at say a car camping campground with no bathroom available is to bring a bucket, line it with a garbage bag, and cut open a pool noodle to form around the rim of the bucket for comfort. You can even put that into a camp shower or changing tent for more privacy. 🤙🏽
A lot depends on how and where you are camping. In a state or national camping area with restrooms, picnic tables, fire rings and a grill, you may not need some of the items mentioned. When back packing, many items mentioned are impossible to carry. However, two items not mentioned is a tarp to put UNDER the tent. Possibly another tarp to string up to have shade or help protect the tent itself. The other thing is a firearm. I don't care what anyone thinks, there are a lot of dangerous animals out there and the most dangerous of all is other people.
Yes sir. 😊🤙🏽 Haha yeah that’s funny we didn’t mention the tarp in this video huh, but me mention them in other videos, we also talk about firearms in another video as well! Love the tarps for adding layers of separation, and shade is a beautiful thing as well for sure! 😁🤙🏽
Hey thanks hope it helped ya! 😃🤙🏽 And it’s linked at the end of this video, little picture pops up on the screen you can click on. Or you can just find it in our camping and hiking playlist. 😊
For fires- Believe it or not you can use swimming pool shock with at least 56% calcium hypochlorite and DOT3 brake fluid as a fire starter. It’s a volatile chemical reaction that makes a matchless flame. Flammable but NOT explosive.
I'm weird, I like to start out with my zipper facing up to the sky and down the center of my body cause I am a crazy sleeper, so when the zipper is on the side to start, I always manage to twist and turn and the zipper ends up under me and I can't get to it and I panic cause I start feeling claustrophobic trying to get un-stuck and un-twisted up ... and multiply that by 2 or 3 times a night to wake up and use bathroom lol ... so with the zipper on top, works best for me 😂🤷♀️🤦🏻♀️
Ok I see you, but what if you only have a small car and packing for a family of 6 (2 adults, a teen, 2 toddlers and a baby)? I am looking for minimal gear or compact. Do you know what good options are? What about the best baby or toddler sleep system to fit in a small trunk?
I’m sorry we don’t have any experience with that specific situation, but sounds like you’ll really have to get creative and make the most out of whatever space you do have. Narrowing things down to your family’s absolute bare essentials. A roof rack for the car might help free up some space. Also see if there are any specific videos on this, camping space saving tips, or camping packing a small car, or light weight camping and backpacking gear. I know the bins are super helpful for us. It will take some trial and error, but I’m sure it can be done! And hey if all else fails you could always rent or borrow a bigger vehicle for your trip. Good luck! Sorry we didn’t have more specific ideas for you!
Hi Nicole! We are also a family of 6. A 13 year old 4, 3, and almost 2. We are planning to get a heavy duty hitch mount cargo carrier for the back of our car. We are minimalist and are going to really try and keep it as simple as can be. We also use a mini pack and play for 2 year old and a regular sized one for our 3 year old (he is a runner and escapee) so it's vital we know where he's at all times. We fit in 2 queen air mattresses and the pack and plays at the foot of our beds in the tent. We have an 8 person Coleman tent with a screened in porch to keep the littles safely in and not immediately exposed to the outdoors while we wait to get our shoes on and stuff. And then open the netting to go out.
I have a Fiat Abarth that my son and I take camping so I have purchased compact everything. Chairs, sleeping mats, collapsible dishes. I use every space in the car, including side door pockets, glove box and hang stuff on backs of the seats. Also we use Amazon vacuum bags for clothes and bedding and sit on our pillows in the car. We usually get camp set up and then go get groceries and ice. I feel ya.
A note on the sleeping bags as I just got to that part in the video. The rating on those is to keep you alive, not for comfort. If you have a 0 degree sleeping bag, that means you likely won't freeze to death if it gets to 0 degrees. Comfort ratings tend to be 10-20 degrees higher than the bag is rated for.
@@killerkrab42 Yeah exactly. It can be tricky and confusing. Not even sure you can completely trust the EN and ISO ratings either. 😂 I sleep cooler personally so regardless I always go with a warmer bag then it technically says I would need for an environment.
Yeah it’s pretty up there for sure! 😊 Hahaha honestly it was actually tough to shoot this video there though because a lot of people were starting to show up and the wind was kicking up a lot. It was also over 100 degrees! 🥵😂 It’s always harder to shoot outside because you can’t control the environment, sound and lighting are usually the main issues. We got it done though 😊🤙🏽
Bugs in your light. I hate that, most of all, in your headlamp!! Now it's not fool proof, but it helps. Yellow Saran wrap. 2, 3 or 4 warps "depending how bright your light is" around your "battery" operated lamp or headlamp and it will help to minimize the bugs.
Awe really, so sorry to hear that! I hope you had a little fun at least! 😢 Just the way it goes sometimes unfortunately in the outdoors ya know, Mother Nature is always in charge. Couple years ago we had this awesome trip planned in the Sierras, and we drove alllllll the way up there maybe 4-5 hours, just to be told all the campgrounds were closing down due to fires, and the whole area was being evacuated. So we had no choice but to just turn around and drive another 4-5 hours back home. 🤦🏻♂️😂

This is great! I just donated everything I owned, became minimalist and it’s 65 is going to take a road trip with my cat! These are great tips, it’s been a while since I camped! I live in New York and I’m heading down south visiting friends on the way as well as camping and B&B.
Very very cool 😊 Hope all the vids give you some ideas! 🤙🏽
Good luck!! I am 67 newly retired and doing the same.
I’m also a cat lover.
Nice 😊😊😊😊
Sweeeet 😃🤙🏽
Make a master list of what to take and use it each time you pack. It makes packing so much easier and we don’t forget anything.
We use dryer lint mixed with a little bees wax and put them in egg cartons then you just break off a part of the carton and light it
Nice 😊 That lint catches a spark so fast. 😎🔥
I love the dryer lint tip!
One of our favs for sure 🔥😊🤙🏽
I haven't finished the video but in addition to regular garbage bags I would recommend packing a few contractor bag's. Especially if you have a ... potty station.
The frozen water bottle idea is completely genius!!!
Also for bugs if you can deal with and especially 30 minutes before bed set out red lights they don't attract bugs as much due to the different wave length.
Great info guys
My wife also came up with camping totes like the ones you have. One thing that helps the cooler is precooling the nite before. We have a 55 quart lifetime and it stays cold for days!!!!!!
Thanks! And nice! That’s a great idea! 😎🤙🏽
How do you precool it? Sounds like a great idea
@@emilykimball3790 Check out our Cooler Hacks vid we show it 😊🤙🏽
I like to freeze things that I won’t use for a few days and I freeze water bottles. Works like a charm!!!
Sweet 😎🤙🏽
I freeze a. Rubbermaid square dish with water and put that under things in the cooler.
Nice! Hey if it works, it can’t be wrong 😎🤙🏽
Be careful about sleeping bag ratings. If there is one number it’s the survival rating, not comfort rating. There’s a big difference.
French Press Coffee Maker
“We live on that thing!”
LoL. 👍
Hahahaha we really do 😁 It’s the best 🤷🏻♂️😊
Regarding the first aid kit, what do you recommend for the second aid kit?
Great tips. And...the fact that you're wearing the shirt of the FIRST band I ever saw in concert (Tucson 1974!) ain't too shabby either!
Nice 👊🏽 All good options for sure. I’m a sucker for that dryer lint though haha so easy to get from home and works every time 🔥😎🤙🏽
I’m a new camper going on my first trip next month. I’m nervous & excited. This video is really helpful. Thank you!! ❤
Awesome! Glad you found the video helpful! Hope you have fun! ☺️🤙🏽
Tip re: light attracting bugs...
Use s red bulb to do your tasks if firelight isn't feasible.
I've found best results using a red light off my tailgate while a blue/white lantern is hung up a number of paces away from from the work area.
Right on. We have the red bulb settings on our headlamps too, definitely helps 🤙🏽
Cardboard egg cartons, add dryer lint, top off with candle wax. I use my already used scentsy wax melts when I’m cleaning out the warmers.
Nice 👍🏽 I just keep it super simple with a cardboard toilet paper tube and the dryer lint, never lets me down 😊🤙🏽
Going on a camping trip next week to Colorado and we'll be in the mountains, which I've never camped in, so this video is perfect!
I live in Natchez, Ms. Some years ago one of those glamp mobiles rolled into the Mississippi River!
If you are around birch trees, peel off the thin bark, it will light up even when wet! Birch bark is amazing.
Oh yeah that stuff is GREAT. 🔥😎 Fatwood also from pines is amazing too, so soaked with resin it’s like a candle!
Right on 😊🤙🏽
Absolutely correct about tent size.
I didn’t know about the white sage!!!!! I have some! I’m goin to use it!
Works!!!! 😊
We went camping last weekend for the first time since our son was born. He’s only 3, but my husband is above average height and we got a 10 person tent so that we had PLENTY of room for all of our bedding, suitcases, etc. and even he could stand up in it.
Nice! Hope you had fun! 😊🤙🏽
Man...that white sage not only will repel ghosts but also mosquitos...
I had some weird shit happen this last camping trip it was eerie no joke

Hey thanks for the nice comment we really appreciate it! Happy you enjoyed the video thanks for watching 👊🏽😊
Where do you put your food and coolers at night when you go to bed? Back in the car?
Usually out here by us each campsite at actually campgrounds come with a bear box to put your food and cooler. If you’re backpacking or on blm land or whatever you kind of have to be more creative and just do what you can. Bear containers, hanging stuff from trees, I guess your car is better than nothing sometimes but you have to be careful because we’ve seen bears rip cars apart to get at food. Depends on your environment too, if there aren’t any bears you don’t have to worry as much haha
Great video!!!! What a beautiful campground!!! Where/what campground is that?? That water is so beautiful... Can't wait to see more of your vlogs

Suggestion: French press yes, but, all stainless steel. You don't want that glass French press breaking when you need it.
Yeah that’s a smart way to go. One of ours is some sort of glass and has been fine for years but better safe than sorry 😊🤙🏽
We are 6 and have a 16 person three bedroom cabin tent 😭 it’s kind of hard to set up in a small space and I didn’t know most campsites have size restrictions but we’ve never been told anything.
Hahaha nice! 😁🤙🏽 Hey it’s whatever makes you the most comfortable! It’s usually just the 2 of us and we usually use our 6 person tent. 😊
💯😎🤙🏽
hey guys, you were talking about coffee, i use the Nescafe single pack coffee, they come in multiple good flavours and very compactable and easy to make.
My husband left our pillows on the vehicle when we quickly packed after a mountain lion screamed right behind me at a rustic spot. We left in the dark. I never saw them fall. They were my favorite pillows ever

Cotton balls covered in Vaseline are great fire starters.
Yeah they are 🔥😎 Little messy so I usually stick with dryer lint mostly but definitely another good option 😊🤙🏽
You said your 6 3 but I'm taller
I'm 7 foot 15 inches tall. What do you recommend for motorcycle camping or skateboard camping?
Hmm. I’d say a straight jacket would be priority for safety reasons.
@@WhereWeWild I don't have a straight jacket. My jackets are all crooked.
@@homie-gtv322 Hahaha you have an interesting sense of humor man. 😁🤙🏽
@@WhereWeWild Thanks.
You two are awesome! ❤️
Awe thanks ❤️☺️
@@WhereWeWild Thank you for responding. I will practice before I go real camping.
@@kethali Maybe we will test it out and do a little VS the French Press battle 😎🤙🏽
@@WhereWeWild Sounds like a good video! For anything more than making coffee for maybe two people, the Aeropress probably isn't that great compared to something that can do more at a time. Works good in my case, on top of the ease of cleanup. Either way is great though, as long as you get your coffee in you! ☕
@@kethali Absolutely 😂🤙🏽 Gotta have it!
When it comes to coffee we formerly used an old school aluminum percolator that made good coffee, but we came across a stainless Steel mesh pour over funnel that is great!
Doesn’t the burning sage smell like weed?

I need tent that can handle 🌧 🌦 or thunderstorms because I plan to go to an exotic island and sleep on the ⛱️? What is a good name
Get ready to spend some $$$. Check out companies that make 3 or 4 season expedition gear. NorthFace is a good place to start.
I break things down to rooms
tents are your bedroom and sometime living room
Outside, living room
Kitchen ,what you need to cook and eat with.
Try not to use a single use item. Like that French press, just saying. I also freeze food and heat it up at camp.Just ho down the frozen food section and you'll get lots of ideas. You can freeze mashed potatoes but not boiled potatoes.
use your camp fan/light outside as well. The moving air will help deter most bugs from the immediate area while still having some light.
Nice we’ll have to test that out! 😃🤙🏽
hy guys thang you for 2 big ideas that improve my camping . 1st floor tiles and second the frozen water bottles.

Thanks so much. I’m agreeing to go camping for my partner’s birthday 😥
The hammock and the 6 person. 😁
Just LOVE your ⛺️ camping videos! Do you just keep your sleeping bags in bags they came in or do you put them in a bin with your pillows also? Thanks!
Thanks! 👊🏽😃 Ahhh we just keep them in their bags and throw em in the car 😊
What's your technique for copping a squat out in the sticks?
No french press. Pour over is the way. It can also work for backpacking.
Haha it’s all preference. The Aeropress is pretty good too.

For fires-
Believe it or not you can use swimming pool shock with at least 56% calcium hypochlorite and DOT3 brake fluid as a fire starter.
It’s a volatile chemical reaction that makes a matchless flame. Flammable but NOT explosive.
Haha yeah that’s sick it’s like potassium permanganate and glycerin, pretty cool 😎🤙🏽
There were people in Hawaii that lost their homes and everything except two cast iron skillets!!
Wow that’s crazy… they certainly do last if you take care of them.
I'm weird, I like to start out with my zipper facing up to the sky and down the center of my body cause I am a crazy sleeper, so when the zipper is on the side to start, I always manage to twist and turn and the zipper ends up under me and I can't get to it and I panic cause I start feeling claustrophobic trying to get un-stuck and un-twisted up ... and multiply that by 2 or 3 times a night to wake up and use bathroom lol ... so with the zipper on top, works best for me 😂🤷♀️🤦🏻♀️
Lol interesting! 😃 Hey it’s whatever works best for you!

Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching 😊🤙🏽
Nice 👍🏽😊 Yeah bugs are no fun. Sometimes I’ll change into the red light mode on a headlamp too.
@@WhereWeWild Yeah the red light works good too. But for some reason it messes with my eyes. That
s why I use the yellow.
We just got back from San Luis Reservoir in California. It was like camping in a wind tunnel! Ruined our Fathers Day Weekend 😢
@@WhereWeWild we did!!! There was 34 of us!!!
@@loribrooks5284 Oh good! 😊🤙🏽 34!?????? 😳😃 Holy crap! 😂
Great information.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it 👊🏽😊
