Such great texture! I always do a painting in one day; thanks for the reinforcement. However, all those wonderful finishing details I think I will save for a second sitting.
Oh Paul I've been missing the relative comfort of your tutorials. I've been out in the wilds of the Peak District, no phone or internet but did manage to sketch a wash a bit. I've come back tasking myself to do a composition of my own which must involve a derelict 1960s caravan, a bored looking dog and a red beer crate. Too long a story to go into here but I have to give it a go. So, I have to work out all my own perspectives, colours, sketch, level of detail or not etc ....wish me luck .... I may be some considerable time....:)
@@ArtbyPaulClark ...just to prove I can't help over sharing, but I just had to say "da da!" I did it. My memories of my old van and my old dog in a corner of Ralph's field not brilliantly painted of course but never the less painted by me! I blame Paul Flipping Clark! Cheers Paul 🖌😄
I love your line and washes. As always, so beautiful. I primarily do line and wash and I aspire to make them as loose and fresh looking as yours. Thank you for sharing your beautiful art!
Another super demonstration , thank you Paul . I love the old barn and need to loosen up a bit so watching you working is a help to me I have a lot of catching up to do to see all your demonstrations so if it's wet over Easter I am sorted !
the building you are painting is of the gambrel or maybe mansard style as you say is a usa type building common even today but was used in Europe..... thanks for the painting great job
The line and wash is amazing never tried this. Another one to add to my list 😂. Love your tutorials learn something every time. Thank you so much for sharing your work. 🤗🦋
Beautiful painting. Thank you for the lesson on perspective. I need constant reminders because I seem to be spatialy challenged. This barn belonged to a wealthier farmer I can tell you that if a barn in the U.S. Laughter, fine art and abit of geography thrown in make your YT channel the best. Thank you.
There’s just something about a line and wash that brings such joy. Love this one as my dad grew up on a farm in the Midwest and had a red barn just like this one. I am going to attempt this for my dad as he would love it as a remembrance of his childhood. I have learned so much from watching your videos and am grateful that you share them with us. This made my heart happy this morning. Thank you Paul!
Morning from a very rainy Spain Paul, loved the video as usual, thankyou so much for giving us your time and wonderful tuition, much appreciated, adios amigo till next Wednesday
Thank you as always for the videos and especially today a brief but needed lesson on Perspective - something I do struggle with! Love the painting of the barn - and the tip about yellow ochre and cobalt blue! I truly enjoy watching the colors you put down and seeing them blend and create - especially adding that purple!! Will "give this a go"! Barns are a story all in themselves!! :0)
My first watercolor paintings were barns, that was before I ever heard of line and wash. Ha, that was only a few months ago. I only did the main part of the this barn, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Still trying to find my way, but I think line and wash will be my thing.
This is definitely a wonderful lovely Pennsylvania Dutch/Amish looking barn with a silo for holding grains! I have been wanting to give an old barn a try. Thanks for sharing this wonderful tutorial with us!!🥰💕
I always like the teaching on perspective. Your painting is lovely, as always and we got a bonus "dad" joke. I don't know if you are a dad, but the watch joke qualifies. Lol.
Wow Paul, sooo beautiful. Your colors are so bang on. Loved every detail you showed us. Even with line and wash your painting didn't lose it's watery dreamy look of water colors. 💓💓💓. Everytime I watch your tutorials I get so inspired , to jump up and start painting right away!! But alas, time restrictions and I have to wait. 😐 Thankyou , for showing us all the different techniques. Looking forward to next week. Happy Easter to you and your family. 🎉💞🎉💞 Tc
Thank you so much for all the wonderful videos you share with us!!! Being a retired senior on a fixed income, I'm glad that you still provide free classes. I'm so thrilled with all that I learn from you. Again, thank you very much!
Dear Paul, I love every painting that you make : loose, line & wash, winter, summer, plants, animals... One thing I would like to see sometimes is your palet on side of the paper : how you mix your colors, how you take water on your brush, how you rince it and wipe it. Thanks for every Wednesday painting.
I love watching you paint in which you hand is very graceful, and every stroke you make looks intentional. Your skies in particular are beautiful! I’m watching a popular watercolor artist tonight and she made the very mistake in drawing her little house that you talked about. I’ve watched your video this morning but now I’m going to watch it again! Thank you for another wonderful lesson, I too look forward to every Wednesday to see what you have for us!
I missed the last 2 Watercolour Wednesday's and I didn't get to watch until a much later stage. Life is a bit more normal now and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this today! Thank you for another informative, entertaining and lovely painting!🖌️🎨👍😊
Good evening Paul. I really enjoyed watching you paint your line and wash painting. I love the grasses and how you drew it with a pen in the beginning. Thank you for another watercolor Wednesday.
I love Wednesday mornings. I live in Canada, so as soon as I wake up there is one of your fabulous tutorials waiting for me. Great way to start the day!! Loved the tutorial today. I’ve been dabbling with pen and wash and coincidentally , barns this last week. Your tutorial couldn’t have come at a better time. Thank you ! Have a great week! 😊
I don't know what it is about painting old barns, but I throughly enjoy painting them. This one will be added to my collection and look forward to painting it. Thanks Paul...great work as always. ❤
Good morning Paul ! Thank you for sharing your talents with the world ! I love love love this one , I hope I can do it justice ! I’ve got a lot of old barn photos from around WA I’ve been wanting to paint !Thank you for simplifying this one , it makes it easier going forward ! Many Blessings to you and Margot and Happy Easter !
Can't wait to try this. You always inspire me. I love line and wash, and I love to paint barns so it's a win win...if I can do it, that is. Thanks for the drawing lesson, too. I don't know how you always find the perfect drink. You are amazing.
How exciting , I really am drawn to old barns, my grandparents were farmers so hence the attraction, will be so fun to try that added section is a first for me, never seen one like that, thank you for sharing😊
I think you did this type of work after a long time.....very much neat, clean and precise...and yet asthetical. Perhaps its a new energy dimension reflecting in the painting post surgery.
Always love your videos. Tutorials are very easy to follow. I usually put your videos on at work, listen with occasional glance, then do the drawing or line work that Wednesday night or after. Definitely keep us all updated if you do a workshop in the US.
Encouraging lesson... with a great perspective on perspective !!!😅 I really followed this time!!! Beautiful barn and lovely colors make it yours! Great joke... I can remember this one! Haha 😂🎉❤ With love and gratitude from a California Gramma ❤ Happy Easter!!!
That dad joke about watch was hilarious!! Thank you also for sharing a bit on perspective drawing - I needed that reminder when drawing structures. I'll give this one a go. Cheers!
I absolutely love old barns and sheds and that sort of thing, particularly the type they have in Kent. And I love line and wash. Gorgeous painting, Paul. Thank you and best wishes to you and yours. 😊👍😃
Enjoyed and learned lots from this! When I first saw it, it reminded me of my husband's family's barn, which was torn down when the new owners bought the property. I had photos, but for the life of me I just can't find them. Just a mirror image without the grain storage and vents on the top. I definitely have this - with my own twist - in my to do list. Thank you so much!
Paul, I have been gathering up lots of these old American barn photos from Pixabay without knowing where to start with them. This was a really great and worthwhile tutorial for me and I can't wait to get going on one of my own now. Always love your line and wash paintings. Thanks so much. Dearbhla.
Thank you so much for the lessons … being in the same vibe as you , Paul … yesterday I was studying and drawing out Edgar Payne’s The Scenic Journey , where in his Seward Street Studio in Hollywood he sketched out the Problems in Perspective . The old cabin and barn I grew up in Leona Valley in was a livery stable and Home stay for the Butterfield Stage Coach line … the stop was down the dirt road to Green Valley and Lake Hughes .It is very similar looking with the high pitched ceiling and slanted side roof building with corrugated metal and wood .
A new journey for me…Line and wash. One that I am more aware of now- so many aspects of how it happens from your canvas this Easter Friday in NZ. I was taught and drew buildings in primary school somewhere between 5-11yr old in a farming rural area in the early 60’s and enjoyed working with the vanishing point so much that it is only now that I know and wish our little school could have introduced to my mind a broader education of art and writing with the dip pens and ink wells both always prevalent in art today- I loved your line work and the many mixes of colours creating an era of remembrance and inspiration for a lot of us…grateful thanks Paul for your channel. 😊
Fabulous! Thank you as always for Watercolor Wednesday. Especially I appreciate the drawing tutorial and pep talk about time. My friends and I are planning on joining you and Margo in 2025 for one of your teaching holidays! Can’t wait. Not sure about the Jazz Cruise but sure sounds awesome 😎. Thank you again. All the best
Thank you for sharing your videos. I’m a retired Pittsburgh fire Captain who never held a paint brush in my hand. I’ve watched several of your videos and this is the one that I painted the best. Thanks again.
We'd think that line and wash would be easy. Yes, until the line drawing is made. But you added a twist, Dear Paul, and with the different color mixes, a unique barn was created again. I just love and enjoy painting these videos of yours. Happy Easter. Thank you, Paul.🐰💜

Terrific Paul. Thank you for the perspective lesson. I have been watching you for years and always love watercolor Wednesdays! I love line and wash too!

Haven’t been able to find a teacher where I live so you are it! Watch your videos on my big TV so it’s like you are right here in the room!! Thank you for all of today’s lessons!👍 Love your style!
You are so welcome Peggy - happy to help!
I think you are correct that it's an American barn.
I love these techniques! Mine never turn out as grand but definitely making progress 😉

Paul you are a blast to paint with and I love your work…..I’m getting better and better. Thanks!
