Also, to get the back bolts, you need to remove the larger transmission mount bolts on the bottom of the car, and then you can jack up the transmission pan to create clearance to get to the rear 10 mm bolts. I’m mind blown they were able to get it this way, must have been very challenging.
They recommend to do that when you have the shudder issue with the torque converter. I did that on my Escalade to resolve it. The vette was fine and has low miles. We were also going to sell it but then changed my mind. The only issue I had was a delay in engagement when put on drive and after resetting the computer it went away.
Hi, what Snap-On tool did you use to get those last few bolts out of the transmission cover? Also can you do an update video of the results of the transmission flush? Has it resolved your shutter issue? Thanks!
Hello it was a long open end wrench to tighten them and release them. Using your fingers you can take it out but its very tight. The correct way is to remove 4 large bolts on the cross member and lift the tranny up and then you can get to them....You can thank GM for that. Hope it helps let me know how it goes. I was filming so this time it wasnt me. I have seen stubby sockets that can possibly work
Update on your shift delay issue pls ? how is it now ? There is a TSB on this issue that says to do a " Triple Flush " to resolve this problem. Which means doing what you just did only 3x in a row ( less the filter ) 🤣🤣🤣. Sounds like fun doesnt it ? I know what I will be doing on mine and that is changing to an aluminum transmission pan with a drain plug when I drop it the first time. ( unless the factory pan has one ? not sure if I did see one in your video ? have seen the aluminum pans with the drain right in the bottom and I believe they are a slight bit deeper to allow an extra quart/litre or 2 )
@@chriscrowell6678 Hello mine is shifting good except I am just having a delay when I put on drive of like 1.5 seconds and kind of give you a harsh feel once it engages. Also when down shifting into 1st gear. I found a article after a lot of research to learn the into drive mode so I did it and got better but now its back again. Chevy wants a bunch of money to look at it and leave the car for 2 weeks so thats not going to happen. I will do the oil flush 3 times so hopefully that will fix it. As far as the original pan it does have a drain plug for the overfill that must be used to remove the exes oil in the tranny once you add new oil and cycle the gears. I havent looked into the bigger oil pan but sounds like a good option. There is a fill plug on the side to add the oil and remove it with a pump so you dont have have to remove the cover which is a pain. Once you change your filter once they no need to remove the cover again just use the pump to remove and add the oil. Chevy doesnt have a good rep with the transmissions. I have an escalade 8 speed and same crappy shift issues. Let me know how it goes. I havent had the time to do the 3 oil changes back to back. I did to the escalade already but still same issue of the torque shudder vibration. Keep me posted if you do yours
Please link me the snap in tool that you were able to reach the back bolts to release the transmission pan. The pain in the rear ones. I want to be sure I can get them before I start changing mine
Hello I believe we used an long open end wrench with a curved tip. If you have an extra jack you can push up the tranny and release the tranny bolts and you can do it a bit easier. We went the lazy way.
Great video! I have a 2016 camaro ss 8speed auto and I’m trying to change from the mobile 1 blue label to the amsoil atf. Since im only adding 8 quarts am I able to mix both trans fluids until the next time I flush again?
Hello I was told by my corvette source at the dealer that is fine to change. Since you cant change the torque fluids you can do a second flush a few days later after you drive it Since I purchased the car preowned I will do the diff and trans again when I get 2k miles on it. I hardly use the Vette but my son does use it more than I do. I did the change also on my 2016 escalade 8 speed and super happy with the Amsoil. I did do the Escalade twice for the issue of the shutter they have with the torque converter and its gone now. My corvette specialist told me that they sometimes have to change the fluid 3 times back to back to fix torque shutter issue if that is what you have. Let me know how it goes. thank you
@@ExtremDIY thanks for the response! Yeah the shutter came back I’m at 80k miles. I’m going to change to Amsoil and then flush again maybe in a couple months. These flushes, especially switching to Amsoil can get expensive for me! Thank you for the help!
I know it adds up. Do you have the a member account with Amsoil so its cheaper and free shipping on orders over $100. Well worth the extra cost I wish I would had started using them years ago. let me know how it turns out. Thanks
GM recommends at 45k miles but if you push the car a bit I would do at 30-35k. These transmissions suffer from torque converter shudder and sometimes you have to do it 3 times to get rid of the issue. I had a hard shift into 1st gear and had to reset the computer to get rid of it and it went away. I always change my fluids before the recommended times. If you bought the car new you should do your first oil change at 500 miles. Then after 3000 to 3500 miles with the best oil and filter you can buy. I changed to 0w-40 Mobil1 Supercar oil which you can track or daily drive. Love my C7. hope this helps
@@ExtremDIY Mark, thank you so much. The car is at 35k miles. I haven't noticed anything odd, but know about this general issue and want to be proactive. Really appreciate the response. Thanks
@@ezestudiosvegas If you can use the Mobil1 blue label HP is the GM recommended oil and GM filter. As far as the diff you should change too it takes a good beating. For the diff you need your vin number because there are different ones. Some have a clutch in them and some dont.
@@ezestudiosvegas I had to go to the dealer for that one. They even had to call GM to make sure. The clutch fluid I was told you dont really mess with. All you have to know is the amount needed and viscosity of the gear oil. In my case was the 75w-90 part number 88862624 GM 3 Qts is what I was told to buy. You can use 75w-90 with limited slip generic lube. Always check your manual just in case or get at dealer. Thanks hope this helps
Amsoil 75 90 lube is awesome stuff for gear lube

Its challenging but doable with the correct tools. Trying to avoid lifting the tranny.
Very good video on the diff. Thanks
Thank you for the help
Suppose to drain and fill trans 3 times to get all fluid out of the torque Convertor. This method has only changed half the fluid! 😅

Changed out my diff fluid when my c7 z06 had around 10k miles and the fluid looked exactly the same.
