- Making your own locomotive from scratch is alot of fun and making a Narrow gauge loco based off a Vale of Rheidol inspired loco has been a pleasure.
On this video we document the process of making this 009 gauge model railway locomotive and share the process with you. I have really enjoying making this locomotive for my Vale of Rheidol Exhibition layout and hope you have enjoyed watching the video.
The loco is a ficticious design which is based off the 2-6-2 Vale of Rheidol tank engines that we all have a soft spot for.
Using 3d Resin printers you can see what kind of great result we can achieve.

Very smart Triss! It turned out excellent. I'm very envious of your CAD skills!
Thank you very much 😊
Really nice engine indeed the clip presented very well and the final product looks amazing, what we all have come to expect from you Triss
Thank you very much for your kind words
A fantastic little locomotive Tris and worked really well on the layout.
Thank you very much 😊
Tris this is possibly your best creation yet. Fantastic
Ah thanks 😊
Wow, that tank engine looks splendid and so cute as well. Thanks for sharing, keep up the great work!
Thank you very much
It’s such a cute little engine.
Thank you 😊
Brilliant little loco a Triss interesting watching the process you go through thankyou for the video
It looks really good and perfect running through the woods on your layout. 😊
Thank you, the woods do look nice
Great work Triss, brilliant looking little loco 👍
Thank you 😊
Nice video Tris. It was great to see how you made the locomotive. It ran very well on the layout and it looks great. - Nicholas.
Thank you Nicholas
This is a Nice Looking Engine, Nicely Done Triss.
Thank you 😊
That looks a very good loco Tris and it fits in nicely with the layout.
Cheers Kev
I like to play with garden-scale live steam models. One of my chums took an 0-4-0 Accucraft "Edrig" (which is a generic live steam engine that looks British but isn't a model of anything) and modified and painted the bodywork to make it look like a V.O.R. engine in GWR colours. It wound up looking quite a bit like your engine here, only in a larger scale. I think it looks quite good. In fact, I think I prefer models of engines that weren't real but could have been. It allows more scope for decoration and also for doing what you please, which isn't some peoples' cup of tea, but it certainly is mine!
Excellent that’s nice to know
Lovely loco and good video
Very nice!
Thank you 😊
oooo i love anthere GWR narrow guage engine!
Thank you me too
@@OONeal maybe on the next video you make can it be a custom LBSCR E2 snice you did made that 0 4 0 pannier
Nice one Tris!
Thanks Eric 😊
Great job
Lovely little loco
Nick Australia
Thank you 😊
Hi triss this is a lovely loco, you've convinced me to design on myself now haha well an 009 loco that I'll probably place on a Kato powered bogie no doubt
Tris, I really enjoyed your series of videos on the 009 layout build. Being a narrow gauge fan I was also captivated by this little loco. You've captured the essence of the VoR locos so well. I had to buy one and it arrived today. It actually looks even better in real life - lovely detail.
The Tomix Percy chassis however appears a little elusive, is the Bachmann Percy chassis a direct equivalent? If not I have a Fleischman 7000 which I think may work with a few tweaks. Any comments or advice is most appreciated.
Very nice Tris - your output in that timeframe was amazing!💜😊✌️👍 Charming model too, nice "might have been".
A lot easier than the stuff I do in 0-16.5! I'm an old school bodger, lots of cut and shut type work😕☹️💔🤣😇 I'm going to use DCC to for better running too.
I liked your NG Pannier, sorry to hear it's gone missing 💔☹️ My other half "lost" one of my cheap decoders the other day, I still can't find it - another project stalled as I look for it - it'll probably be found when we move house in the distant future😳🙄🙄
Word of wisdom to the wise, the Smokebox Handle is called a Smokebox Dart💜😊👍
Thank you 😊in a larger scale it would be much easier to make 😊 thank you for the wisdom on the Dart. I hope you find your decoder 🙏🏻
@@OONeal Ahh yes it would for you with your CAD and 3DP skills😊👍✌️😄😇 but endlessly fettling of resin castings and plastikard® around a RTR chassis is always a bit of a phaff whatever the scale😄😄🤬🤬💔😄😄💜😇
You're most welcome re the SB Dart, it's a quirky fun name. Thanks re the decoder, I think it's fallen down the back of a unit or something 🙄🙄🤔🤔
Hope to see your little pannier again soon too🤞🤞✌️👍😊
Hi Triss, very nice model. Did you use Solid Works to model the design?
she really looks the part , well done Tris . she will go great with your pannier ?
She will but I need to find the pannier first 😊
@@OONeal maybe you could look through your vids and see when you had her last ?? she was a classic .
Surprised you went with the TOMIX Percy rather than the Bachmann one, the Tomix models tend to go for quite a good amount of money these days and are harder to find. Either way, the model looks absolutely magnificent Neal, another fine job well done!
I didn’t have a Bachmann one when I started designing it. I will get one at some stage
Hi Tris, I have a couple of questions about your resin printer, I wondered what printer and resins you use for these prints?
Hey tris Nice cute engine i have a question what design software do you use
models are out of stock are you planning to print anymore ?
What resin are you using?
I’m using Elegoo beige resin
@@OONeal thanks!
Looking good, but performance is rather poor. Missing an high ratio gearbox, good motor and flywheel.
