I have an almost 21 lbs 4.5 month old, he's a big boy and LOVES food. we started solids at 4 months, first with tastes of food, then some purées, now he will rip food from anyones hands who is close enough and chow down 😂🙌🏼thanks for making this video! I know sooo many people who get so mad when people start their kiddos on solids before 6 months which is just crazy to me because every baby is so different.
My daughter will be 6 months next week! She started showing interest in food around 5 months. Thank you for this! Such awesome info. So far my daughter has had carrots, green beans, peas and sweet potatoes. We’re only doing veggies for now. 🥕 🥦 🥗
Thank you so much for this!!! Gonna show my husband as we are quickly approaching 6 months with our first! Your breast milk storage video was also an amazing resource for us and we appreciate your time!
I remember starting to feed my children back then at 4 months and we didn’t check for all the telltale signs. Baby would fuss whenever we ate without giving them so you sort of handle the situation accordingly. Whatever you ate, you give a taste of it (liquids and sauces) and now both my kids are 17 & 20 years old and healthy young adults .
I saw a girlfriend of mine doing BLW and honestly that makes waaaaay more sense to me than purees! Baby gets less picky with food at a later stage, which is great, and I don’t have to prep or buy baby food, which also is a good (pocket friendly) option. But most of all, being Italian, conviviality around the table is so important! Being able to have meals together (when possible!), and eat the same things, is something I really want for our family. So, even though I’m just 13 weeks pregnant, I’m already set on baby led weaning!
As a first time mom when I had my baby boy who is now 4 years old 4 years ago I was given the ok by my boys pediatrician to start solids. But because he was born almost a month early with adjusted age he took to solids more at 7 1/2 months even though we started at 6 months. He took to pureed foods at first and then at 9 months we went to mashed up solids and then at 1 full solid foods but still nothing too too hard. I was given the look why didn't I do baby lead winning and that doing pureed foods set them up for. not good eating habits. For us he won't take to baby lead winning so this is how our journey worked for us. He does like his fruits and veggies and whatever we make for dinner and put on the plate he eats what he can and we don't make substitutes just for him.
I love all of your videos! I'm 36 weeks and people have already been asking if we're going to do baby lead weening or not and I had no clue! This video was a great starting point for me!
The only thing my mother in law tried doing against our rules were trying to feed water and food as soon as possible. Other than that she's been great and now that baby is 5 months old, we will be starting solids
Please can you do a video on baby sleep because my 8 week old doesn’t sleep in his crib no matter what I have tried. He has reflux and I’ve tried everything in the book but he sleeps on us only so isn’t ideal or sustainable.
My 4 month old just got the green light for food and I was concerned thinking it’s supposed to be 6 months or older only. Thank you for this video, it really helped. He tries to eat everything I have so I’m glad to know I can share 😂
Thank you for this video. Please upload the upcoming videos really soon. I really find them helpful and would love to know more about Baby led weaning and chocking vs gagging. My baby is 7months now so it would also be nice to know what foods we should also stay away from.
I did a combined puree and baby led weaning approach. Started with purees at 6 mos old and then slowly introducing more solid finger foods. Baby is now 8 mos old and we are doing pure baby led weaning approach. It was definitely a less stress inducing time with the purees though haha 😂
We’re so happy you found what worked best for you and your baby. We’ll be diving into BLW next week and it sounds like you’ve already done an amazing job! 👏🏻👏🏻
@@TheDoctorsBjorkman i am excited to watch your video about BLW and how you are going about it with your little one. Hope you will also share foods you prepare now that she is older 😊
Thank you for this video! With my first, I felt he was ready to have solids at 4 months and when the pediatrician approved, he did amazing! He was an avg 7 lbs 9 oz when born. However with my second, only two years later, the pediatrician just said they don’t recommend introducing solids until 6 months for all babies! I was confused because my second was 10 lbs and now he’s 4 1/2 months, meets all the signs, and weighs 19 lbs! He’s breastfed exclusively and he tries to grab my food when I’m eating sometimes right off my plate! I think I’ll just go ahead and try solids! 😂
Go ahead momy. My baby is four months old and she cry's for my food. Grabs staff and puts them in her mouth. I was going to wait until six months but I see I'm torturing my own baby nah...
Hi, my LO is 7 month month old but hasn't started sitting yet, should I put him to sit in a high chair, does it going to hurt his hip? It doesn't has a cushion on it.
Prop him up w his legs spread for balance...my daughter was 6 months old n very chubby lol rolled over everytime she tried sitting so we taught her by letting her learn to balance using her legs
Just wondering what is your opinion on offering common allergy foods early on? My husband is deathly allergic to peanuts like we never even have them in the house. But I heard introducing these foods early on can prevent allergies long term
For most, it’s a pretty good idea to introduce potential allergens early as there is no evidence this makes allergies worse and there is some evidence it may actually help to decrease the risk of food allergies. HAVING SAID THAT… with the significant family history, it may be good to introduce these potentially allergenic foods in a safe location, close to medical help in case there is a reaction. Please talk to your baby’s medical provider more about this before trying.
My son is about 4.5 months... he is able to hold his head up well and can balance his back with a little help - every time we have a meal he is starting to lean over to get close to the plate... His weight started at 3.2kg and he is now a whopping 8.2kg - shall I try him on some food? He has a cow milk protein allergy, does this affect what he can try beyond cow milk & soy?
Hey doctor i have 4 months old baby he does not like mother breastfeeding so i started giving him rice cerelac but he got diarrhea what should i do now ?
We are finally getting to be comfortable with real food, (he just turned 11 months old)we went the purée route, when we introduced “real food” most of the time when we tried before little man would projectile vomit (like empty his entire stomach contents). It didn’t feel right to me, but we stayed calm (or laughed it off) and now that he’s crawling on all 4’s (before he would just slide on his belly) he really hasn’t thrown up like that. But he does squirrel his food so we have to keep checking he’s actually swallowing lol
My son is 6.1kg and will be 7 weeks this Sunday (birth weight 3.25kg) even after having the cold and cough for more than 10 days (he's currently on medication). He's breastfed exclusively since birth. Is this normal to have him this big at week 7?
Thanks for this video. I’m going with the purée option because I’m afraid of her choking! I did what you guys did which is give small tastes here and there. I’m officially starting with a pea purée tomorrow. I wonder if you have any information on how to heat baby food that’s frozen? Also, my daughter has eczema and so my paediatrician suggested to introduce allergens early as apparently people with eczema are more likely to have food allergies. Could you share anything about introducing allergens?
@@mihaelaroman4718 thank you! I’ll give it a go. They suggested aquaphor or hydrocortisone to me but hasn’t made much difference. It’s not severe but I want it to go for my poor girl!

@Madeleine Wang start with 60 ml. Its a good starting point. You may need less or you may need more. For a newborn with formula we started at the 30ml every 2 to 3 hours.
Hi! Does baby need to have all 4 signs to start? My baby is 6 months old and has all signs except he can only sit with his hands supporting him. Is it safe to start?
The goal is that they can sit in a seat that provides them the support to be upright. It doesn’t necessarily mean they have to sit independently on any surface - they just need to be able to hold themself up where they are eating.
@@TheDoctorsBjorkman great! Thank you so much! We started with peanut butter mixed with breastmilk last night and he cried real tears when it was finished. He’s definitely excited to start and so are we!
Hello I was wondering what are your thoughts on jar food me and my husband are ready to introduce our 6 month old to solid foods but we keep going back and forth if we should use jar food or make the food ourselves just read so many articles about harmful metals in jar food we asked our pediatrician but she said she hasn’t heard anything about it
Since 3 months my son has been dying to taste what we are eating 😂 when he turned 4 months we asked pediatrician and she said yes to solids and boy did he love it and now he’s 5 months and 17 pounds 😂😂
My baby girl was 15 pounds @ her check like a month ago & she's a lil over 4 months old now. She burns up 9 to 10 cans a month so I was like made it's time for baby cereal in her milk.
My baby is exclusively breastfeeding unless she is being watch with someone and needs a bottle. We are about to start solids which means we need to use a sippy cup. I’m worried if she starts using a sippy cup she is gonna prefer the flow of it and stop breastfeeding on demand. What should I do?
I've just noticed that you both constantly look at each other and it's become very distracting. Obviously what you say is scripted so why the theatrics? I love your advice so trying to concentrate on that.
When she said salads instead of solids- Kurt’s face😂
