Interesting interior.... Certainly "something different".... I'm a big fan of Citroen and DS but I would worry about residual values, as Stellantis are famous for overpricing and then discounting. One of these at 3 years old, might be a bargain!
I was thinking exactly the same, I’ll be in the market for my next car in 2-3 years and I’m hoping these will be about 25k with about 20k miles. If it is then I think an all black one with that brown interior might be on my driveway
I had a DS7 for 3 years and it was the most luxurious car I have ever had. But it was time to go electric so went down the Tesla route. I like my Tesla Model Y, but its interior is not a patch on the DS. Sadly my local DS showroom closed, but it is great to see DS come out with something so beautiful and electric.
…this is exactly why I buy French, owning a DS which when German owners come for a ride are amazed…did I say I owned a Renault Avantime for over 12 years 🤭
It's a big French luxury car! So, it will fail spectacularly. However I love it! It's different and unique, all the things the unimaginative buying public will reject.
Possibly but I would hope it's a success. I'm definitely a fan of the design both of the exterior and interior. For the luxury end of the saloon market it ticks all the right boxes. Unfortunately it's not an SUV which we seem fixated on. The French have made some beautiful compact concept cars recently. Let's hope that with the success of the Renault 5 and the lessons (and cost savings) learnt we actually get to see them built
It's a fabulous looking thing - one of those cars that still looks a little like the concept it was based on - all the things that usually end up rounded out in the wind tunnel. It will be a great second hand buy in a year or two's time.
It’s literally been the opposite up until now, electric cars have been designed for efficiency at the expense of aesthetics for the most part. Look at Tesla’s bulbous designs, or the soap bar shape of Mercedes electric cars. They’re that way to be aerodynamic but look bland. This Citroen is certainly not on that train and I really like it!
Had a DS7 diesel for 4 years and it was a lovely drive and great on fuel economy. Such a quiet car. Really like the look, but out of my price range am afraid. Great review.
As proud owner of bmw 740 e38 and m2 I can't help myself but I really really want this one. Not sure if I'd be able to give up either of the bimmers in favor of this but as an addition it would be terrific!
I think this is a beautiful car. The only Electric luxury car I want. I hope a hybrid version will come eventually, but for an EV the range is pretty good, so I’d take one of these
No do not bother mixing it with a Hybrid version. Sharing a body and chassis with an ICE power train just compromises the efficiency of the EV. Hybrid should be on a different platform.
Personally I think this is one of the best looking cars in the target class. Too expensive for a regular working class mere mortal like me though. If I had the cash I'm still not sure I would shell out the cash though, residual values should be taken into account for any pass on purchase like a car unless you are prepared to and can afford to take the hit. A used example may well prove to be the ideal purchase. Many thanks for sharing. Tom.
Finally a proper and distinctive flagship for DS!!! The design team of Thierry Metroz are really artists!!! But as usual the premium clientele will buy again Mercedes, BMW and Audi...If i could afford it , i would buy this one to keep it for a lifetime. It just a mass production concept car. Especially the interior design!
This is absolutely "Top of the Range" ... The all New DS N°8 deserves 10 out of 10 without a doubt. Some people appear to be rather snob as 8 out of 10 is because it's French. I say "Grow Up" ... Well super done DS Love it so much. 👏😎 🇫🇷
Thank you for the quick preview. I think they have nailed a classy luxury design which does not look like all the rest either outside or in. It is too big for me and I would not want one. It would be interesting to see this compared with the new Jaguar announced in the last ten days as two “national” brands trying for large and luxurious.
I'd certainly look at this as opposed to a Tesla. Love the paintwork, even though the black and white car reminds me of an old taxi. 🤣 Another enjoyable review Tom!
Another car, designed for people who can think for themselves. Confident folk and not ‘sheeple’. Not the most attractive car by any means but very refreshing; could only come from Citroën really. For people who know what they want and not for those who get what they believe other people would say they must have. I think as a result it’ll be too much of an ‘individual’ machine and won’t sell in volume…. and be all the better for it.
Lovely looking car. The full range of DS are indeed nice looking cars, shame though that the DS brand still struggles to get the sales to match it’s rivals. Dare I say the build quality is it’s grey area. I've had my new DS4 E Tense Performance Plus for just over 3 months, and due to issues, I’ve already decided that I doubt I would stick with he DS brand for my next car.
The interior looks like a nice place to be. No black or grey everywhere. It's all very well having heated seats and air scarves, but when the windscreen is misting up in cold weather, you have no choice but to put the fan & heater on!
Brave styling and should be applauded for that. Some of the interior finishes do look a bit naff - that centre starburst element especially. What stood out for me though is the legroom in the back or rather lack of it. Looks like they prioritised boot space over rear passenger space but it needs to be more ostentatious in the rear compartment to be truly luxurious. A LWB 'Prestige' variant would be cool.
Interesting you say you havent seen ventilated seats in the rear. The DS 9 has it and provides way more comfort than the no8 with message functions and a luxurious armrest. Asking myself if they will come with a DS 9 replacement later on or additional options. Would think so either way as it is a higher class than the No8 you sat in, with a cheap armrest from the DS4 line.
Look forward to this. I remember when the DS6 first launched, that car for a brief time made the more expensive mercs and BMs look overpriced inside. Shame it didnt drive to well.
It is probably me. But I think slapping the name of an iconic, beautifully shaped car onto a boring, fat SUV is the automotive equivalent of pizza hawaii or cappuccino after 10AM
Nice car, but as someone who runs home from work near an A road these ultra bright headlights are a nightmare. Most cars don’t seem to pick up head torches so it is blinding.
It’s a nice concept/pre-production car ,as are a lot of big EV SUV’s. However, can you imagine the depreciation on one of these and leasing rates are likely to be high as a result. A two year old at max 40% of new price could be a good buy though if you want something different.
I like it. My first car was a flat-twin 2CV, and I own 3 Italian motorcycles so quirky isn't an issue for me. But I'd never pay 60k for a car (and I'm the target market, being a reasonably well off older bloke with a liking for Citroen), and I worry how well all those clever but non-essential electronic doo-dahs will hold up over time. At that price in the current market I can't see it selling, sadly.
Excellent looking car, love the air scarf idea; heated seats don't do anything for the shoulders so that's brilliant. I look forward to considering it for the next car - any indications of UK delivery dates?
It certainly looks a plush-carpeted step or two up from previous DS offerings. I'd like to see it in some different colours. Not sure about the black bonnet - might work with something other than black. Test reviews awaited.
Citroen, or DS, seem to look at what everyone else is doing, then go their own way. This DS looks really good. Both inside and out. Though I'm sceptical about those plastic wheel trims. Surely they'd only save range if their _"spokes"_ were both angled in the same direction of travel? So you'd have to have 2 x near side trims and 2 x off side trims! If not, then one set of trim would always be fighting against the opposite side?
The specs are good, I like the spare tyre, the looks are… different. It looks a bit like someone forgot that production cars aren’t expected to look like concept cars.

Last I saw, the French President’s car was an adapted Peugeot 5008. Instead of 7 seats, it’s just got 4. Two armchairs in the back with lots of legroom.
358 mile range so probably 295 in the real world, still quite useful though. I would like to see a longer range so more people can drive without having to stop at the super expensive commercial chargers non-Tesla drivers have to endure. If it was 400 miles RWRange I could see it having a good take up especially for the lease market
The French are really nailing design just now 👏😎 🇫🇷 feels like the 1980's all over again ❄️
Gorgeous looking car. I owned a 2013 DS5 for a couple of years and it was a faultless car.
I had one too... my was the DS5 Hybrid ... great car, 0 problems! I loved the interior cockpit!

Stellantis inherited that quirk from FCA which really picked it up from the Yankistans of Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep's business model

yep. The C6 is probably better than the DS from 1955-75 and the CX that followed but it's not as iconic. Maybe they can try once again :)
