Excellent info and presentation - Appreciate you taking the time and the upload
Thank you so much 🙏🏻 This is a *really* clean and efficient comparison. Wish more production videos were this quality! 🙌🏻
Excellent video - concise, informative, and answered all of my questions about the differences between these two plugins. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the detailed comparison. I almost bought the stand alone version of Infinity. I’m not a slate subscriber. So thanks to your excellent comparison I see that Q3 is the one for me
Happy to help! Pro Q3 is fantastic.
Great info. Exactly what i wanted to know. Thank you.
Thanks for this video !
I literally searched "Infinity EQ vs Fab filter", and this wonderful video came up !
So, I downloaded demos of Both, immediately after watching this video.
I am working in Samplitude Pro X6, which already comes with Pristine Mastering Quality Plugins . . . Their EQ116 sounds amazing, their FFT Filter is Magical, and their new "Dynamic EQ" is Utterly Addictive (but Very CPU Heavy), So , I have been poking around for more additional options . . . The Infinity EQ will definitely be my next plugin purchase!
I also previously demoed the Bx V3, and others that will be bookmarked for future acquirement, mais but , this Infinity EQ grabs me by the lapels, and makes me want to Dance !
I see the CPU concerns, as others have mentioned, but it's running very smoothly on my system, so far . . . What Grabs me is the Immediate Intuitive Accessibility and Ease of Use, as well as its Infinite Flexibility and Versatility . . . ! . . . The Learning Curve is Set at Zero, and the Possibility Curve is Set at Infinite . . . ! . . . My kind of EQ . . . ! . . . 🙂
(-;
Wow not what I expected at all. Pro q is a beast.
Thank you for the comparison! Also one more thing that Infinity EQ has quite weird solo mode, which is too wide and don't correlate very well with the actual band settings. Fabfilter on the other hand has made it right with the solo mode, you are only hearing what you are supposed to. And I'm not a fan of dots instead of frequency grid :)
My decision is that both are useful to have. If I need a dynamic EQ, I'll do fab. If I have a source that doesn't require dynamic EQ being applied, and if it's a source that I can make use of that (VERY USEFUL) Mid-side percentage selector, then the infinity is my choice.
I had a trail of the ProQ3 and during my decision making slate announced inf eq and I thought great I don't need to buy the ProQ 2 days after using the inf eq I bought the ProQ3. I think what a lot of people don't mention is the CPU usage ProQ3 is so amazing had hardly using any CPU and I can have them on all my tracks with no issues. But just having 3 inf eqs I was getting drop outs and the wave forms was glitching and was eating up so much more CPU. So I think even if you're an all access member. ProQ3 is still a must consider as it's just so smoother and just works like silk everytime. That's not to say inf eq ain't good it's great but think it needs a lot of work in my opinion. That's just been my experience with it. So if anyone is thinking of ProQ3 try it out, it's money well worth spent.
Love the video by the way.
I have both and choose Pro-Q3 every time. To be fair, the Infinity EQ is a 1st generation release and will hopefully get better with time.
@@GreenLightSound yeah I agree. I love what slate does so I have no doubts it will become even better.
Exactly the Fabfilter Pro Q3 consumes a low percentage of CPU which other external equalizers do not do, and in this case it would be the Infinity EQ, Now also the workflow and the greater accessibility and greater number of options in the equalization the one that has all these aspects is the Fabfilter Pro Q3. The Infinity EQ is good, but I still can't say it's better than the Fabfilter Pro Q3.
@@GreenLightSound Man, eh to be realistic, as much as the Infinity EQ improve it, Those of Fabfilter will improve their equalizer also and may even come out a Pro Q4 version who knows. And if the Fabfilter Pro Q3 is an excellent equalizer, imagine the next one coming.
True "I used to use FL Studio EQ 2, and one day I got tired of it. I downloaded infEQ, and I could only add a few, and my FL was stuttering a bit while working on a core i7. But the sound quality I achieved just by equalizing my samples was infinitely better. I achieved that professional touch, and from then on, I started buying good plugins from reputable companies. A simple EQ can change the final quality so much; it's amazing."
I wouldn’t expect you to , but Id be curious to see a comparison to a tone booster eq
Nobody is talking about that, I dont know why. I find TB Equaliser more interesting.
Does inf EQ have an analyzer like pro q 3? Pro Q 3 can automatically detect frequencies by keeping your mouse in the bottom portion of the frequencies
No dynamic EQ on the Infinity? I'm seriously disappointed.
They say they will update it over time, so maybe it will be a feature in the future.
@@GreenLightSound I sure hope so. BTW, great review. Thanks.
@@najinelson6742 What?
@@najinelson6742 fail haha
Great presentation. Its clear Fabfilter wins, but does the cost vs Slate make it worth it?
And if we talk about cpu consumption it is the same : Pro-Q3 winner by far.
Good point - I didn't really get into CPU consumption.
Slate fan won't be fond of your statement.
@@BukanIbuMu Haha who care I am myself a slate fan :)
It does not implies to be blind!
Fabfilter had a serious rival!
Just scoll your mousewheel over EQ points in FabFilter. ;)
FabFilter Pro-Q3 IS THE BEST
fab filter eq will always be the best
ProQ makes too many cuts and boats sound fuzzy. The cleanest EQ I've found is MAutoDynamic EQ. I still think it's worth having different EQs so you're not limited by the DAW and its stock EQ.
I have MAutoDynamic EQ as well and it is indeed clean, and very versatile.
What I’m curious about is which one sounds better
All im tryin to know to
I FEEL LIKE A FEW TWEAKS WOULD MAKE THE INFINITY GREAT : I DON’T LIKE THE FACT THAT THE HP AND LP FILTER CREATE AN UNWANTED REASONANT BUMP WHEN YOU DOUBLE CLICK ON THE EDGES...THE PRO Q 3 IS SOLID AND DEFAULT AT AROUND -3 DB WHEN YOU FILTER ( OF COURSE THE VALUES GO UP OR DOWN IF YOU CLICK HIGHER OR LOWER ) . IT’S NOT TRIGGER HAPPY LIKE THE INFINITY....WOULD BE NICE TO TYPE IN THE VARIABLE SLOPE IN INFINITY AND ACTUALLY DEFAULT IT AT 12 OR 24 ( OPENING THE PLUGIN ) ...ALSO , IF YOU LIKE , INVERTING ( AS AN OPTION ON EITHER CUTTING OR BOOSTING ) THE MOUSE SCROLL WHEN NARROWING OR WIDENING THE Q , SLOWING DOWN THE Q SPEED A LITTLE...BRINGING DB AND FREQUENCY VALUES CLOSE TO THE CREATED BAND INSTEAD OF BEING WAYYY OUT...MAKING GLOBAL CURVE THE LAW AS SOON AS YOU OPEN THE PLUGIN IS KEY....OVERALL , THE INFINITY EQ IS NOT BAD , IT LOOKS GREAT BUT A FEW TWEAKS WOULD MAKE IT 🔥
Totally agree. A few tweaks, maybe a few more features and it could compete.
Green Light Sound HOW DO WE CLEARLY VOICE THAT TO HIM THO ?
Maybe contact Slate support with your suggestions?
Green Light Sound ANYTHING YOU NOTICED ABOUT THE EQ OTHER THAN THAT ?
Not really, other than additional features like dynamic eq, eq match, etc.
fabfilter doesn't mess you with ilok, so there's that
True, though Slate does support iLok cloud if the USB aspect bothers you.
@@GreenLightSound which is defly a welcome, coz i got Pulsar Smasher (grabbed it for free) which has iLok in it, so it's less of a concern when compared to years ago
@@GreenLightSound The iLok is total neurotic DRM resource heavy and punishes legit paying customers. I'm all for supporting and paying good companies that code quality software. There are smart ways to protect your IP without pushing away potential clients.
So for 90% of most EQ needs the Slate EQ is quicker, prettier and more ergonomic?
Not really sure if it's faster at basic EQ. They both are context sensitive for where you click to create appropriate bands, so I would say it's a draw. Prettier is an opinion, so sure. More ergonomic? Maybe in terms of limiting options and keyboard modifiers. It's a very nice EQ and can handle most basic tasks with ease.
Yes, Yes, and Yes !

To be Fair, You were Already an Adept Fabfilter Aficionado, Before You ever opened an Infinity EQ . . . ! . . . For me, I Just downloaded Both of their Trials , and the Infinty EQ is the Clear Winner , for me, in Everything that Vincent Salamatino just stated . . . So much so , that my very next EQ purchase will be the Infinity EQ . . . and I may or may not add the Fabfilter, at a later date . . . I now have 30 Days to evaluate Both EQs, and the Infinity EQ is already grabbing 90% of my overall attention . . . ! . . . 🙂

@@bakharandi Interesting - how do you feel now after a year? Is Infinity still your go to? I have Infinity and was thinking about fab filter pro 3?
Infinity needs iLok and dongle, so it is out of focus for me. I use Pro-Q 3 (needs no dongle) and it is fantastic!
Pretty sure the Slate plugins are iLok cloud compatible, so no dongle needed.
Yes, Green Light Sound is right !
I have certain plugins that require an iLok account, but No Dongle is necessary !
So, simply create an iLok account, and activate those plugins through a cloud app, and your good to go !
I just downloaded the Infinty EQ 30 day Trial, and activated it via my iLok account, with No Dongle !
The Infinty EQ is Very Special, indeed !
(-;
Samplitude has been giving the Dongle or No Dongle options for over a Decade now . . . ! . . . I hope Cubase will eventually follow suit !
(-;
Pro Tools can take their Dongle and Plug It . . . ! . . . Anywhere, but Here . . . ! . . . 🙂
(-;
. . . I Still Love Pro Tools , though . . . When we see each other at a mutual friends BBQ . . . ! . . . 🙂
(-;
No dongle needed.
Don't be so harsh with Slate guys, they're trying.
the comparison is kinda unfair since the infinity is no dynamic eq. auto win for the q3
You didn't even mention that Pro-Q 3 has zero latency AND linear phase modes, which is essential for mastering. Infinity is not linear phase. Only zero latency mode.
Slate is just a copy cat. Why bother getting a cheap knock off? ;)
If you're a Slate subscriber, it's actually nice to have this type of digital EQ thrown in. For an outright purchase, FabFilter wins every time.

I just watched a Kirchoff demo . . . Fabfilter and Kirchoff really look like Complete EQs . . . I may add them at a later date, as I become more adept . . . Mais But, or now . . . This Infinity EQ is the Cat's Meow, for me , right now . . . ! . . . 🙂
