Some of the rattles you hear at low RPM may in fact be due to the header or mid pipe clamps touching the frame. Put it back up on jackstands and look carefully for those contact spots. Readjust and drive, then repeat. I have 2” Kooks long tubes on my C6Z and finally dialed out what sounded like a metallic frame-exhaust rattle. Also, you’d be surprised how much the engine and drivetrain rotate under acceleration! Good luck!

Love my kooks long tubes and kooks x pipe on my ls6 z06. Paired with a btr stage 3 cam, and slp loudmouth exhaust. Music to my ears!
Used to run speed engineering headers on my 2013 camaro 1le. I would buy them a million times over lol. Great content btw the c5 sounds amazing.
On my 04Z06 I have an old make of LT header, bullet cats, and a corsa extreme. It's the best of both worlds exhaust I've had in 35+ yrs and 10+ hi-po cars. It's kinda loud at startup and settles into a mellow tone at idle and normal driving. Go heavy throttle and above 3000rpms and its LOUD. Absolutely no drone when normal driving. It's honestly the best exhaust I've ever experienced in my life.
And btw.. a "secret" to make even stock manifolds and stock mufflers sound good is to maximize mid-pipe size. ;-)

I think I'll keep my 2003 C5 stock. Many years ago I had an '88 GTA Firebird (L98 350) and it had a set of custom built Doug Thorley headers. The headers themselves were high quality. The headers were California smog legal - including a CARB EO#. No doubt they increased horsepower but the unexpected consequences became a pain in the butt. The starter motor would absorb a LOT of radiated heat from the headers. That would cause the starter to crank very slowly after more than 20 minutes of driving. I never got around to installing some kind of heat shield on the starter. Also, routing spark plug wires was a hassle because they would burn when they barely touched the headers. After a long drive on the freeway, the brake pedal would get soft. One of the brake lines was too close to one of the header pipes causing the brake fluid to heat soak. Exhaust leaks was another issue to deal with. The header bolts would randomly get loose and that would cause a leak - making the smog test fail. So, I think I'll keep the exhaust stock on my C5.
The headers are not what is making it so loud. It's the lack of cats and mufflers.
I'll go with all of the above.

I have headers high flow cats and billy boat bullets and my car is not a Daly driver and I couldn’t stand it anymore. My interior started to rattle also just like you said. I put my stock mufflers back on and love it! Quiet when driving around and has a nice sound to it when you lay into it. Then again I’m 40 years old lol!!
Man, that Check Engine light is making birthdays already on that speedo. lol
Just.. just... please. Look into it. If is the O2 sensors, just foul them to get rid of it. On tuning you can disable the post cats sensors, since their purpose is only to check for polution. The ones that adjusts the car engine tuning are the pre-cats ones.

Can't wait to get my SLP setup. Had to buy new crank pulley and tires before spending money on a new exhaust. Currently running the BBE with the speedway tips. Sounds good and all, but just a little too mild for my tastes. Your car sounds sick!!
Sounds like war! Amazing!!! The sounds under throttle make up for any annoying sound when not. Man it’s just music! Makes me wish I never sold my c5 6speed 😭 now my toy is a Suzuki samurai… it’s just not the same. Love the vette!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Buddy of mine put the same headers and x pipe with a borla axle back and didn't like the drone, went back with literally the stock axlebacks and it sounds amazing
I did the same kit, but kept the stock axle back.
Richard holdener, the king of ls builds did a test comparing headers on the dyno,,these made just as much if not more h.p. as the expensive name brands. Just bought a 2004 zo6 and plan to use the same set up,,just with Billy boat mufflers to quite it down a bit..like your videos dude..my first mod with be the headlights you installed..keep up with the informative yet funny vids.🤣👍

I put long tube headers with a x pipe and a granatelli cat scat mufflers. Then I added electric cut outs so I have best of both worlds. I don’t regret it. The sound is bad ass!!!

No cutting with TSP. Just installed a set of 1 3/4" Headers and a Catless 3" X-Pipe on my C5 Z06. No Cutting as the X-Pipe comes with Flanges for OE or Reputable Aftermarket Axle Backs. Have ARH 2" on my C6 Z06, and the quality and fitment is noticeable for the added $1k+ price difference.
Absolutely love the sound, the cops here in Maine would have me by the short hairs in the first mile.
I was going to buy Speed headers but they were on backorder for months. I ended up going with TPS 1 7/8 headers with no cats. It was a pain the ass to install, well only the x pipe. I also have BB bullets. I can hear a metallic sound afterwards. It doesn't get loud until I get to 2K rpms with no drone.

Having long tube headers and x pipe with high flow cats installed soon. I am keeping the rear exhaust and mufflers factory. I did want all the noise.

I put American racing on my c6 they did fit like a glove but the price stung a bit. But paired with a cam and springs and corsa mufflers, it's all about the giggles when you stab the skinny pedal!!!!
I did the same on my '08 C6 M... AR headers, high flow catted X-pipe, Corsa Sport axle back exhaust, GM Hot Cam, and a Tune... 452 RWHP

@@justinlanglais9825 I went with a custom grind from race proven motorsports snake charmer 2 intake btr springs and pushrods. Im sitting 486 rwhp. And like you mentioned over 3k she screams and comes to life but still a decent cruiser
Have you had it tuned yet? If so, what kind of power does it make?
I'm thinking the exhaust would wear you down after a while. I'd have to add a muffler or at least a resonator. The highway drone will get to you on anything but a short trip.

@@mikenurceski4579 none, it is harder to keep the o2 wires off the headers than to remove the stocks and place in the new ones.

So even when you’re on it we can still hear you pretty good so on a scale from 1 to 10 how bad is it to hear music or have conversations on the highway love to know the answer but then again I’m 99% sure I’m just going to buy this the Corvettes way too quiet stock

c5s can only run 89-93, 87 causes a knock

I am reminded of a couple of old sayings while watching this video: Drive like hell, you'll get there, if it's too loud, you are too old, and Karma is a bitch. One new one making the rounds is ; the louder the car, the lower the credit score. Personally I love nature too much to remove the smog equipment from my C5 street only car, being grateful for the only clean air, food and water I will ever have, plus I have been blessed to see some of the fantastic wonders of nature , and would like to care for the future . Mother Nature always bats last.
I might also mention this guy misunderstands that back pressure is necessary., Going over to Engineering Explained or other sites in RUclips one can find the details I would hope the people supplying him with parts understand how they work, and would fill this guy in, if they are more than just order fillers.

So typically when your catalyst is clogged or dirty and has excess carbon, oil, fuel etc...
Then ut reacts chemically inside if your catalytic converter and if the catalyst can't get hot enough to burn that off it can build up sulfer.. And hence why you smell rotten eggs....
When your cat isn't existent then you have no smell..
If your buddy's WRX had that smell, ( I'm assuming its turboed because who straight pipes a NA subi on purpose) then he's got way worse issues.. Considering there shouldn't be a ton of sulfur being produced...
Maybe a odd fuel additive or something?
Try adding some magnaflow hi flow cats, and get the smallest length ones you can get..
Then hollow them out...( ehem for "looks")
And add a set of Magnaflow SS steel pack tube exhausts.. It should be a similar loudness with a completely different tone..
And then if you have drone issues a resonator should do the trick....

I put American Racing headers, catted X-pipe, and Corsa Sport mufflers on my '08 Vette, sounds absolutely AWESOME.... and ZERO drone. My brother has the same combo except he has the factory NPP exhaust; both sound wicked awesome!

I noticed your Oil PSI was stuck at 80 can you please talk about a fix for it. I have the same problem on my C5.

I wonder how low your collectors hang down? I tried speed engineering headers but they both hung down about 1.5 inches lower than factory

How many miles on your car
Too loud for me ! I have headers and a '3 inch catted X-pype for my LS3, C6. I haven't installed the parts yet, but, I do have a Corsa exhaust and Corsa carbon fiber air intake installed. The other parts will be installed in spring.
I'd put mufflers on it, preferably Borla S-Type but I believe that even a set of factory mufflers would give the car a good exhaust note without losing too much (if any) performance.
I can't speak as to your C5 but the mostly stock, bolt-on street cars that I've ran an open exhaust on have slowed down at the dragstrip as opposed to having a well designed catback exhaust system.

you can pass inspection if its tuned, i also have long tubes with no cats on my c5 and passed with no problem thanks to the tune
That HEAVILY depends on the level of requirement and the tech inspecting it. In a 100% legit situation.. he has zero chance of passing an inspection.
