Do at your own risk. I am an entertainer, not a mechanic.

You also need to replace the oil pressure sensor which is why your gage is pegged to 80.
thanks for taking the time to document that whole install! a great video!!! 🤟
I think open filters always sound better because you can really hear them sucking in the air.
Never seen your channel and came across your video from 3 years ago when you bought this thing. It’s awesome that you still have it and that you’re still loving it
I enjoyed the video, while a few guys trolled you, I think everyone that has an ass has an opinion as well. It just depends on what orifice they talk out of. What I liked was really “how” you installed it, errors and all. It was typical of what a person might expect when they do their own installation. You chose a well made system with Calloway. I know nothing about Calloway except they have been associated with performance builds for a long time. I’d be interested in seeing a video after you have it installed awhile. I know the video is a year old but it is still really good information. Be safe out there….
I had a Honker and Corsa catback installed on my 2003 50th. I also had it dyno tuned at the same time. I ended up with 327 hp at the rear wheels.
Callaway makes golf clubs this doesn’t look like a golf club…
Callaway Performance and Callaway Golf Clubs are the same family.
@@paulcabinatan2390I actually didn’t know that. Thank you
Great video!! For you guys wanting to save 3 hours and 300 bucks, take a half inch drill bit and drill you stock airbox to look like swiss cheese. Repeat with black plastic covers in bumper and viola...cold air intake in about 5 mins.
There is actually a RUclips video that shows how to convert your stock intake into a Calloway style. It costs almost nothing and isn't Jerry rigged.
Fun installation huh ?
I put one in my C6.... used a black sharpie to trace the outside instead of tape... MUCH easier! 😁
Was thinking the same thing! Good idea
That's what I was thinking sharpie outline way easier. Installing one on my car this weekend..
The CALLAWAY is awesome and looks nice and proper.
Anything that doesn't get air from the other side of the radiator shroud is useless.
For those on a (x2) 24 inch zip tie and box cutter Budget.
I flipped the airbox, cut my plastic shroud, zipped it and !!BOOM! MAGIC COLD AI.
There's instructions on most Corvette Forums (NOT the ZIP MOD but the FLIP MOD)
I am glad you found happiness with your choice, although I can't remember the details from when I read about th flip mod. when someone proposes a plot to out engineer the GM team, they don't get my complete attention.
I lack the analytical training to determine the worth of a lot C5 mods, but even at my skill level can see that a lot of useless gossip gets repeated so many times that untested C5 modifications gain credibility , like the zip tie mod, simply because it gets mentioned so many times and is easy to do. I have seen it so often that I now just consider that stuff on the same level as backyard gossip, just an activity for people who want to be entertained, with efficiency a very secondary goal. Talking about it seems to be the primary goal, since before and after performance is never mentioned.
I do hear a lot of guys with the zip tie mod say they are happy as clams, but I would hardly expect anything else from a guy who just cut a hole in his OEM intake system , because returning to stock is no longer free, and it might be hard to find a good OEM part for such an old car.
My c5 has a vararam and I drive it in the miami rain, no issues!
The filter would stop any water drops anyway
Great installation video and a GREAT product.
Hey man, i recommended removing that ZR1 front splitter. That thing used to severely overheat my vette. I installed a new splitter with the cut out in the center and the car has no overheating issues since
You’re making me wanting to get back into Vettes😩
They surperchargd my 2006, I swear by Callaway.
Black sharpie instead of tape maybe.....🤔🤔🤔
And I feel for ya working in a packed out carport.....a roomy shop would make you a star....🤣🤣
Your videos are awesome.....🤘
P.S.....does your car actually push 80 psi of oil pressure....?
wondered about oil psi myself.
@@neozeed1984
He won't answer me....🤣
@@markcooper9269 No, im sure is Oil Pressure sensor is broken.
Nicely done! Thnx for making this video.
I would love to see the horsepower difference if any . A lot of your after market add no hp over a stock oem.
Looks like you need a new oil pressure sensor and the LMC5 Mod. ;)
Hey Jake....great video....I was looking at different cold air intakes for my C5 and decided on a supercharger instead.
Keep these videos coming my friend.
Slight hp boost and slight price difference
@@frankgrant5399"Slight"
I think you made a great decision considering the price of these systems and the negligible power made compared to a supercharger
Oil pressure sensor replacement video next?
I have silver and black sharpies you are welcome to borrow. LOL
Awesome videos I have a 2002 C5 Convertible 26,777 miles on it and I think I need the same exact cut in this video but I’m not sure if it will need to cut back further past the suspension mount. I’m not a certified body repair or a mechanic but I have done a lot of repair work on large vessels working as Chief Engineer in shipyards any suggestions would be appreciated I hate to sell it for parts
instead of using tape you could prob use a Silver Sharpie marker
Awesome upload Jake! Thumbs up from me as usual Brother... Stay safe... Rico
I fight all the time with my self, to buy this one, or the Vararam?
I mean its like you sayed. Callaway is THE Name when it comes about Corvette.
But when you look on the C5R, they have a very similar System like the Vararam.
Really hard question...?
Job well done, congrats.
I heard you mention that you didn’t get a tune after installing your long tube headers, have you had any issues with your c5 after installing them without a tune?
Great video Chris 👌
I mean there is a filter in the V-ram CAI that stops any rain before it goes into the engine
@@charlescalkins3485 When you drive over a puddle the car is moving forward and the wheels are situated behind the intake, so the water moves to the side and to the rear, and is stopped by the fenders, unless your talking about flooding in which case you would be slowing way down. A little water does not hurt the engine you don't notice it unless it's flooding you are going through
@@charlescalkins3485 Not if you are tracking the car competitively no, but mine a road car and not something I will be bashing around a track GM designed it for road use, the C5 Z06 has more air going into the engine bay than the base.
Very cool, congrats!
What’s wrong with the intake you removed, did it not do well, was there any improvement with it?
You used a grommet on the air box but how did you plug the other end where the red hose came in?
Another great video as always.... Thanks!
Nice ride
Why is the Corvette America ram air intake bad?
Congratulations on ditching the Naive Auto Parts induction set up and using some good craftsmanship to install a quality part that actually improves on the very good stock design.
Odd that the blackwing never sought C.A.R.B.certification. From watching the Gale banks RUclips channel , all you have to do is send in your testing to be checked out, and I would assume they have testing from developing the product. I would guess that any air flow improvement would pass certification, since the caraway did and is such a basic design.
Dude how many vettes are in that garage
40 minutes of my life I will never get back.
lol callaway 50 state legal sticker... also removes AIR system.
Maybe your old air cleaner would have done a better job if you did some maintenance, looks like you’ve done none on it since you got the car!
Vararam is #1
sir what front lip is that?
sweet big dog. it should run better just by having a better flow over the maf.
Nice 👍
Get an AGM battery before you rust your frame
Sounds the same!
lets go
sorry bud but your delivery is kinda geekee.
You need tools😂😂
I think you wasted your money
Sigh RUclips content creators have no clue about performance . Sound of a cold air intake is big reason huh??? What a joke
