By changing to a higher TDP, you basically allow it run at higher frequencies with a temp hit. By undervolting at the same time, it simply reduces the voltage so the chip consumes less at stock and can potentially consume the same or a bit more than the stock out of the box settings.
Hi. I just had a thought around performance on the Win 2 and wondered if you had already tried... The low spec Gamer channel has a video which covers gaming on integrated graphics and includes tips such as downloading drivers from the chip maker rather than the manufacturers of the device and tweaking some of the graphics settings. I'm sure you're already aware of these tips but I'd love to see them tried and tested on the win 2 whilst I'm waiting for mine to come :) Just a thought :)
I strongly recommend to try out win 10 LTSB. I installed it right away and had no problems, all the drivers are okay, OS runs much better then the stock win 10, sorry but I cannot compare gaming performance as only used the original OS for a couple of hours.
Would you be able to show off some of the performance improvement that you've seen in certain games by doing this overclocking? Like are there certain games that require an OC in order to get a stable 30/60FPS?
Could you try doing another Fallout 4 video with bios tweaks to see if you can get a more reasonable framerate? I'd be curious to know if it's possible to get 30fps out of it.
Hi there - I just bought a Win 2 and trying to follow this. I've enabled XTU in the BIOS, but I don't get the ability to then change voltage offset in XTU. It's still greyed out - any pointers?
How do you get such fine movement with your right analog stick? Mine jumps. Were you able to save and load xtu profiles? I get an error when I try to load
For XTU, is it possible to have it auto load settings upon booting into windows? Or do you have to manually fire up the program everytime? Also do you use throttlestop at all in the undervolt process or strictly bios/XTU only?
HELP! by default my intel xtu turbo boost power max is set to 4.5 watts and no matter what I do in the bios or in xtu it stays at 4.5 watts. If i change it in xtu it resets to 4.5 when I restart the gpd win. And even when I set it to 10 and do a game it will run at 70fps then Ill finish a mission and it goes down to 20fps and will never go back up. Thats for every single game.
Hi, after see many videos and learn much about xtu and this kind of overclocking, I have a problem about the settings you are using. When I change the processor graphics voltage and I save the profile, it doesn't can be applied. If I change processor core voltage, TDP and the rest of options leaving graphics at 0, it works but... how can the graphics core voltage impact? and do you have any idea about this?. Thanks!
Hi! There are some differences between the prototype and retail units. In the bios you can disable XTU interface and save. Then you should be able to save profiles.
Hi Phawx . Great videos ! Would you kindly consider running fallout 4 on the 11W please. Also does the known from GPD Win 1 Windows 10 tweaks help with the performance ?
The battery is ~40Watt hours. If you set the TDP to 3.5W with medium brightness on LCD you can expect around 8 hours of battery If you set the TDP to 7W with medium brightness on LCD you can expect around 5 hours of battery If you set the TDP to 11W with medium brightness on LCD you can expect around 2 hours of battery
@@ThePhawx is the bios reset pin hole really to "reset the bios to factory settings" or is it only a "reboot of the bios chip (like reconnecting the battery)" ? i know i'm 2 years late for this but i'm still trying.
@@ThePhawx yeah but does this reset the settings in the bios to factory? like your TDP settings in the bios and that kind of stuff or does it just cuts the power connection to the bios chips for a short period of time to reboot the bios chip (if its stuck in a loop)? btw. thanks for repeating
Not sure if I did this wrong but I did everything and I couldn't get windows to boot it would just be a black screen. I restarted to default and it worked again
would it be possible underclock the GPU to get some extra power in the CPU for reaching a higher frequency? for example, pc games will benefit more of a higher gpu frequency, but emulators will do the opposite so maybe tweaking it depending of what you are going to play would be beneficial sorry for my english
Wouldn't the "GT overclocking" setting be on top of the default frequency? So if the default is 900 and "GT OC" is set to 0 you get 900, but if it's set to 1 you get 950, 2 gets 1000 and so forth? I definitely could be wrong but that is what I would assume the functionality would be. I would also assume that entering a higher value like 24 the system would realize is unstable and just not even address it and run at stock. I'm sure you tried that but just a thought if you didn't.
if you own nier automata, can test that game? xD im getting around 15-20fps on my GPD win 1 with super low texture mod but i want to see how it perform on the win 2

When are you going to do a general review?
+mike hawk probably by the end of the week. Just before the igg campaign goes live
uhm, from what i know with desktop overclocking you can get higher frequencies by over not undervolting.
You undervolt to get less heat. Less heat = less throttling = higher fps. Don't compare this to desktop overclocking, it's completely different.
Wouldn't the "GT overclocking" setting be on top of the default frequency? So if the default is 900 and "GT OC" is set to 0 you get 900, but if it's set to 1 you get 950, 2 gets 1000 and so forth? When setting it to 24 it shows up as 12x ratio in XTU. Or 1.2Ghz
Will you compare new game results now?
There are a lot of games that I've run at 10 watts already. But I will rerun Doom.
So if i change everything like you in the bios, do i still need to download intel xtu?
