A grip accessory, like Satisfye's Nintendo Switch grip, to improve the ergonomics would make this form factor basically perfect.
You can't make a "console" like this without removable controllers. Guys that have been in the game for years and years constantly have issues with analog sticks and buttons. Without having a good way to get in here and fix them they're going to have major issues.

I was really excited to get my hands on this thing. Unfortunately, I was one of the 150+ backers who received a unit with the wrong parts installed. GPD refuses to fix the problem, and offered only $30 as compensation. Be aware, if you get a faulty device from GPD, you are stuck with it. They do not honor their warranty.
That really sucks, that's why i chose the Steam deck, Valve would gain a really bad rep if someting like that happened

You could use the external GPU as a "switch dock" leaving it hooked up to your living room setup.

A dell or HP thunderbolt dock can quickly cost 200-300$ if you think of it like a docking station, it's actually quite good

Sounds like a good device for my field. I'm an IT technician at a university who's constantly schlepping around the (rather large) campus, and a device like this running Windows would be a great help. What would really put it over the edge is if they went full Switch and made it dockable. Being able to do work in the office on a trio of 4k displays and then just take it out of the dock to go on a ticket would be awesome.

I always wanted to have one ever since I saw Rodney McKey (Stargate) use one in a few episodes. But they are so rare nowadays and too expensive. EEV Blog took one apart a few years ago. I just love the form factor and feature mix of these types of devices. So versatile.

As a long-time Nintendo Switch user, I'd like to point out: The charging/connection port on the bottom is annoying if you rest it in your lap and want to charge it.
Yeah really wish the Switch had it on top like the Wii U gamepad. But for this it makes sense as it has all the other IO on the back. The Switch doesn't really get that same excuse with just a 3.5mm and cartridge slot.

The trick I've found with my Switch when charging in portable mode is to use a right angle USB-C cable. It solves the main issue of trying to use it while in my lap as its neatly tucked in & not poking out like a normal one would.

Just to add more information, there's actually two different models.
The one you showcased is the least powerful one, with the i5 1135G7. There's a more powerful version with an i7 1165G7 which has a 15-20% more powerful iGPU.
The i5 1135G7 costs 799$, and the i7 one 899$, both available in silver or black color.
Vs the i7-1185G7 if I remember correctly the performance difference to the i7-1165G7 isn't that much better, so, glad that they come out with a more powerful variant that just uses the i7-1165G7

@@bromomento2952 I was setting it back on the case VERTICALLY on my very small desk. There are 4 small rubber standoff kinda things on the corners of the case where ur meant to put the glass, and when I put it on, one of the standoffs looked kinda squished. So I took it off that standoff because I wanted to just adjust it without taking the whole panel off. To my complete suprise the whole panel popped off, and before I could react the tempered glass fell off the case, off the desk and onto the stone tile floor. I've ordered a new one, but I think it was more the fact I couldn't keep the case good for more than one day that annoyed me.
It's crazy how far computers have come during the last two decades.
These kinds of computers have been around for some of those two decades. They were called UMPCs, and came in just about this exact form factor, minus the integrated gamepad.
I'm not disagreeing, but if you compare the 2000-2020 differences with the 1990-2010 differences, I think 1990-2010 saw more progress. This last decade has been kind of lackluster.
