    This year's Washington Redskins team reminds me of "Friday." Remember when"Smokey" said, man Craig y'all never have stuff that matches. Either you have peanut butter, but no jelly. Ham, but no Burger! We got a decent passing game, but no running game! This is crazy bruh! A lot of it has to do with what Jay Gruden said at the end of the year. If the front office and the coaching staff are on the same page, then we can do something! #HTTR

    Love this channel! I hope to see you continue to grow. Hey how would you feel if the NFL had guaranteed and bigger contracts for players. I think they getting undercut big time especially for a collision sport like this

    • @HTTR
      @HTTR  4 года назад

      I like the idea of guaranteed contracts but I'm thinking if they do it you might see like a leveling out of deals. Meaning the overall numbers might come down a little bit seeing as all the deal will be guaranteed. With CTE being a real thing that affects 7 out of 10 former players I think these guys would be stupid if they didn't push to get their deals like the NBA. Of course, in my opinion, I think the NBA is out of control in terms of those deals right now.

    I appreciate all your work posting on the skins and the podcasts/ reviews, covers on the team. I love the Skins and seeing all the content after these tough seasons I'd great to see. I'm not gonna be negative on every post either cause we all want the same things. I just hope they turn it around vs the bears and be the sleeper team I thought they'd be. Gruden is definitely too safe of a HC. If he took more risks and got on guys I think It'd make a big difference offensively. Defensively we will always need a legit DC calling plays cause the guys we've had have been horrible

  • @mpettaway97

    We keep holding on to Gruden like the man is going to miraculously change into this genius of a coach. Let's look at his winning seasons more closely. In 2015 we went 9-7. That year Philly won 7 games, NY 6, and Dallas 4. We played the AFC east, and the NFC south. We lost to all but the Bills in the AFC, and in the NFC south, we were only able to beat a terrible Bucs team and a defenseless Saints team. Needless to say, we took advantage of an incredibly easy schedule.
    In 2016, Jay went 8-7-1, tying Cincinnati in London. That year we played the AFC north, and the NFC north. Both divisions were down and we took advantage once again of some pretty bad teams. We were swept by Dallas, swept a bad Philly team, and when we needed 1 win against the Giants to make the playoffs, we didn't come through.
    Jay is good at beating bad teams but will never make the playoffs again with our good divisional teams getting better every year. If that's the case then why keep kicking the tires?
    Footnote: After firing Haslett, Gruden went with Barry over Wade Phillips. Phillips ended up in the super bowl while Barry too got fired. Gruden tried to right the ship in 2017 but Phillips chose the Rams because of the lack of talent on our defense. Phillips ended up back in the super bowl while we ended up with Manusky whom Swearinger called out in the media. Doesn't take a player to see the train wreck Gruden has created by hiring this guy! They both must go ASAP!

    • @HTTR
      @HTTR  4 года назад

      You don't fire head coaches in week 2...if we did we may not win a single game this year. The time to fire him was at the end of last year and they didn't do it. Think October for Gruden if we keep sucking...but Manusky could go as early as this weekend if things don't change.

    • @mpettaway97
      @mpettaway97 4 года назад

      @@HTTR we still might not win a single game. That speaks pretty low of the supporting cast though. If they're not good enough to win a single game, why are they employed. By the way, ASAP just sounds good. He should have been fired last year like you said. Most of his wins came against bad teams.

    How about the fact that Ramsey is pissed off the Jags aren't playing enough man. And the Skinz are playing man when Norman is a zone guy.

    • @HTTR
      @HTTR  4 года назад

      Thing is, the Skins play more zone than man, just like Jax. There has been a couple of plays where guys got beat one on one but that doesn't change the fact that the scheme is zone-heavy. I don't think Ramsey would want to play for us and he's gonna have to be re-signed in the offseason which means he could be a rental that we'd have to pay a premium for just a few weeks of play.

    After listening to Michael Lombardi's criticism of the Redskins front office, my view of the team has changed quite a bit. The team is capable of winning more games, but I can't help but feel that they are hamstrung by not just coaching, but management as well. Bruce has to go , I feel that until he is removed from the football operations, the team will continue to suffer, sure, you can fire Jay , but what coach would want to work with a guy known to scapegoat people ?? What's frustrating is that we have the players to make this team a force on the field, but their talents will be wasted by individuals incapable of cultivating their abilities.
    I hope we win Monday, we got to, the giants are always a toss up when we play em, and their is no way we are beating New England when they come to town, the team really needs to get their act together. As for Jay, I'm all for starting over if he doesn't do his job and coach competent football, we have to play to the strengths of our players, and be cutthroat with our opponents when we have the opportunity.

    • @HTTR
      @HTTR  4 года назад

      Here's my thing, I can agree on who has to go and all of that...problem is timing. You cannot fire your entire staff in week 2 because you still have to field a team for 15 more weeks, chances are we wouldn't win another game and our fans would be even more irate. We should have done this at the end of last year if they were going to do it. As far as Lombardi goes that guy is a failed NFL GM/Exec who is far from a leading voice on the subject, he's also an outsider with a view that comes strictly from the standpoint of being in the media. I'm honestly not even sure why Redskins fans listened to this guy...oops, that's right, the DC media told us he knows what he's talking about. I'm telling ya Redskins fans = PTSD patients.
      I agree about the Bears game, it's a must-win game and I do NOT want to play the Giants with an 0-3 record.

    • @joltexe24
      @joltexe24 4 года назад

      @@HTTR I get that Lombardi is a failed gm, but he spoke as if he is/ was a fan of the team. He could be lying but his words do hold some truth in regards to how most skins fans feel about the team. Granted, I didn't agree with everything he said, but it gave me some perspective, in any case , I agree that unless our team underperforms massively, the coaches should stay for the remainder of the season. Let's hope for a Redskins win come Monday, regardless of the craziness that surrounds the team, I too am a Redskins fan, and I want this team to succeed come Sunday, Monday, and Thursday

    Jay will never lean on a running game, and that's why we'll continue to be mediocre. what back has he ever stuck with, as soon as he arrived he couldn't wait to move on Morris & DY. now it's AP's turn to be marginalised after a 1000 yard season. of course it's not all on Jay, Manusky has carried on from last season and you can see now why they were trying to replace him in the summer

    This football team starts with the head of snake believe it or not! So as long as we have a sorry ass owner in Synder (THAT HAVENT SET ANY CULTURE OR STANDARDS) we will continue in mediocrity. • @mpettaway97

    We're not a running team. We have good running backs but that doesn't make you a running team. Averaging 1 or 2 yards a carry isn't going to cut it. We can run on every play and the average won't be much better. Adrian Peterson's stats were skewed last year. While he did average 4.2ypc, it was the long runs that brought that average up. A running team gets 4 yards on almost every carry as opposed to 2 yards on most carries and a 50 yard run on 1. Now the reason we're not a running team has nothing to do with our backs. You simply don't see our linemen blowing defenders 3 yards off the ball. To add injury to insult, they're often asked to do more than just block the man in front of them. Before Gruden, we were a running team. But since he switched to a power blocking scheme with no power blockers, our backs have to dance in the backfield too often before making something out of nothing. I love our backs and we have to run to keep the defense honest, but if we stuck to the run like many fans want us to do, the games would be a blowout by halftime.

    • @HTTR
      @HTTR  4 года назад

      I respectfully disagree with what you said there...The team could very easily be a running team but injuries and bad defensive play have kept us from being anywhere near that this year so far. By the time mid-third quarter rolls out the last two games, this team was playing from behind and the score has dictated what they do. Before Gruden got here we were running a zone-rushing scheme used by the Shanahan's that believed in lighter blockers who could pull better, not power blocking schemes. And Callahan controls the blocking schemes the team uses, not Gruden. Scherff, Moses and Trent all could fit a power scheme (Penn too)...I'm still on the fence about Flowers even though he's looked decent thus far this year and is considered a power blocker...Roullier is the only guy who fits what you're saying (not a power blocker) and he was probably our best lineman last season, lol. Here's the thing, last year was last year, let's leave it there...we were down to the fifth string at right guard for Pete's sake, can't use that team as a basis for anything especially not numbers per carry. And if we're being honest, if we were to stick to a rushing gameplan and mix in Gruden's prototypical play-action passes and other bread and butter things, we would be a WINNING team like the one we looked like in 2015 (maybe not exactly like that 2015 squad but a winning team is what I meant). Everyone was quick to give Cousins all that credit when it was the scheme the whole time...Kirk is nothing special.

    • @mpettaway97
      @mpettaway97 4 года назад

      @@HTTR I feel we were more of a running team with Morris. When Gruden got here, he abandoned the read option yet Morris still averaged over 4ypc. His longest run was 30 yards. In comparison, Peterson averaged over 4ypc as well but his longest was 90 yards. If you throw out that 1 carry, Peterson's average drops down to 3.8ypc. The point of all that is this: we were more likely to get a first down on 3rd and 1 by running the ball back then than we are now. That's no knock on Peterson. It's because of the talent, or lack of, that we have now. Just my opinion and we can agree to disagree.
