I have that variety but the plants grow to double the size. Also have Burro and Ice cream bananas. Some of my plants are 30 feet tall to the highest leaf tips. If you see my banana plants you will notice I am a fanatic about removing banana leaves and I mulch everything with a lawn mower. The ducks also like to eat banana leaves and buds. I had to stand on the roof of my Bobcat to reach the banana bunches!
That’s great! We don’t fertilize our plants other than chop and drop and occasionally some watered down fish emulsion. We are right by the water and try not to fertilize due to the runoff. Organic or not it’s still excessive nutrients that are bad for our Indian river lagoon in these torrential summer rains
@@IslandsnHighlands My ducks are always depositing their version of fertilizer everywhere! There is no run off from the planted areas but you can see it run off from the sidewalks. Algae grows in a day or two in any standing water which has duck poop in it.
I bet the ducks are adorable 🥰
@@IslandsnHighlands They are I love them!
Yes, to a taste test!
Haha will have to wait for the next harvest-these we’re eaten quick! They were so sweet and yummy! A delicious one for eating fresh!
Nice. Do you fee the banana plants anything extra? Compost maybe?
We just do chop and drop and a little fish emulsion from time to time. We will be adding seaweed mulch since we have a crazy over abundance in our beaches right now also. But we try to keep it minimal since we are right on the river. The summer rains would wash a lot of it into our river
