ANTIQUE TREASURES for the Chateau from a Beautiful FRENCH PALACE - Journey to the Château, Ep. 99

- Опубликовано: 8 фев 2025
- In this episode, Patrick and Stuart make a trip to Nevers, France to pick up some of their recent auction wins from Le Palais Ducal, a residence castle of the 15th and 16th centuries that once belonged to the counts and dukes of Nevers. Patrick and Stuart meet up with Tony and Jane to make a trip to a large brocante and come back with some additional treasures for the chateau. They also see the return of "the claw" (their tractor mower), but something is not quite right.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château or castle in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

Patrick your hair is such a dream it is still as lovely as when you appeared on that photo when you were a little bit younger wow not so long ago xxx
You probably have but take a google pic and see if vases come up ... they are beautiful as is Venus... oh the Sectarian desk is beautiful.....what winderful finds.
Pot = coil pot. Appears Majolica. Single fleur de lis = French royalty circa 1180. Designs: Spanish Leon kingdom Alphonso VII, also similar to Navarre kingdom of that time. Lion- Leopard also royalty of this time.
Motifs could be heraldic by succession. Pomeganates also spanish symbols.
I strongly recommend that you get these vases appraised by a museum.
They look of high historical significance.
Thankyou for such a lovely vlog, sorry about the tractor😢
Enjoy your family's visit.
I agree with you - they seem to be older version of Majolica.
Absolutely with the blue lion , flour de lis I thought very early royalty ... DEFINITELY get appraised
The music when the tractor triumphantly returned!!🤓❤️
Gents, what superb buys from that chateau!!! Indeed especially the Louis XV secretaire, gorgeous! The music on revealing the returned tractor made me burst out into laughter 🤣🤣🤣 Sad story though, it still doesn't work... very frustrating for you! The things you bought at the brocante, delightful! Where are you going to mount the door handles? The Louis XV style chandelier, a beauty!
About he vases: it appears they are Italian faience. The coat of arms on them and the flower decoration and use of colours betrays Italy, 19th century. They're meant to be used in the garden. P.S. The designer beard becomes you very well, Patrick! Keep it!
Patrick, you are not a nerd you are limited edition. As rare as some of your finds, so a perfect fit for the château. And Stuart is as unique, but that is evident I guess!
Love all your beautiful finds from vases , to chandeliers to the outstanding desk. You are finding just the right items to use for your lovely Chateau.
Thank you so very much. ❤❤❤
Oh. I am in love with the vases!😍😍
every time you show brocante shopping, I say "oooh, I'd buy THAT. and THAT.. oh there's one of those that I need.... oh and look there I would love one of those..." the husband says he's rethinking the next trip to France saying we don't travel with steamer trunks to bring all this stuff back he knows I'm going to want to buy. HA! I told him we can always ship it back! love your purchases! enjoy the weekend!!
Thank you!
You are looking both so happy and relaxed, regardless of what’s happening around you. 🇨🇦❤️🥂🙏
Thank you dear Judith. We are pretty happy here….. even though we are not always completely relaxed. 😂. Love your comment ❤❤❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 looks like you both found your little piece of heaven. Something we all strive for.
Hi Patrick and Stuart well didn’t you do well some lovley items on the auction and will fit right in at the chateau my goodness there is certainly a lot of items to be found at the Brocante it is amazing to me where people find all of the lovley things to sell there you can pick up some lovely bargains especially for chateau owners and yourselves you can practically kit a whole chateau if you choose the right things great vlog love the music as well keep well see you on the next one
Hi Patrick & Stuart, I know the pain of being without a riding mower. Ours was in and out of commission for a month while Scott toyed with it to get it running again. We managed to keep ahead of the early growing season but still... Great finds at the Brocante, the chandelier will look great in a guest room, and the big jars have a great presence on the piece in the dining room. Mark & Scott
Oh, no! Not again! The "claw" gets scratched!
On a happier note, nice auction and brocante finds. Call me a nerd, too, Patrick, because I would be daydreaming about who sat at and used the secrétaire. What secrets might have been hidden in one of the many drawers?
Oh dang it, that triumphant return didn’t last long!! I hope this time it gets fixed or they replace it with a new one!!
Hi Stewart and Patrick ❤️. For me but I’m sure you feel the same! You can buy thing in auction and have it sent to you. But you being able to be present in the very place it’s been for however long must feel wonderful. Patrick! Like you I love the Louis XV Sec. imagine trying to have that made today? It would be ridiculous. And never made to those standards and no history. The mirror frame you’d never have made today as would cost a fortune and again not to the same standards.
Oh lads I absolutely love your finds. I adore when you take us to the Brocante. I always see articles I’d like to buy. Brings back happy memories.❤️💕❤️
Thank you very much. We love taking you and the viewers on the road. So much to see. We will do it again tomorrow. And with Stuart and his great cameR work, you can see what we see. Love from Colombe. ❤
Can't wait for your 100th episode , love those vases , hope you actually get your tractor back fixed and ready to cut your grass before the end of summer .
The secretary is a gem!! The large vases are certainly worth investigating... Could they be local??
Hello handsome. Hope all is well and you are progressing in your projects. The secretary is so cute….. and the Vases are actually are from Italy. I finally found them online. 😮😊😮. Sending you love and hugs from Colombe. ❤❤❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 Congrats on figuring out the vases! No exciting projects here. We are dry. I may have award winning thistles!!
The brocantes in France are amazing. Thank you for the video!
My favorite film is The Red Violin as it tells the full history of an object. I think you guys would love it. Another great episode.
Provenance par excellence!
How lovely that you found a matching terrine AND a platter of the same too! I love all your purchases Patrick and Stuart, you certainly did well. I could never get enough of chandeliers if I owned a chateau and you are lucky enough to have plenty of rooms to keep acquiring them for. I have several in my house so that keeps me happy. 🥰
Thank you so much. What a find! We were really happy. And chandeliers….. I’d love to see yours! Huge hugs. ❤❤❤
My chandeliers would probably look like the babies of yours and Stuart’s Patrick! Huge hugs back to you too.❤️❤️
This is my all-time favorite show to watch. Love you both!
Thank you! 💕
My goodness what great finds…the terrine and large platter…sister to the terrine you have …amazing …the bronze door handles…the chandelier …awesome …you must have been delighted.
The Château is coming along beautifully…you are doing so much it must be lovely to venture out and visit other villages. Your kindness towards others is reciprocated by theirs to you. Lovely truly! 🌟💛
Thanks so much 😊💕
Wonderful to see Nevers, your photos and also aucion items..great choices…one can eat in Neversvery very well so enjoy!!
I sure am looking forward to Friday. It's always a pleasure watching what you're up to.
Good morning Stuart & Patrick, what a lovely and interesting video packed full of interesting outings which helped you acquire some very lovely items for the chateaux. It is always great meeting up with Tony and Jane, they just improve on the outings :). The open air brocante you visited had some very lovely items. There are just a lot of fine items to pick up. Perhaps you should get in touch with the people of The Antiques Road Show there would be somebody that can give information about the vases. They are very lovely, and they hold their onw place, perhaps a special area in the kitchen would do them proudly. It was very noble of the French assistant to allow you to borrow some machine to cut your grasses. It is a great pity when a machine that should easily cope with chores lets you down so much. Our stove I am sure is a factory reject! Yes from day one the oven was a problem it would trip out the electracy board and recently the element which was the problem from the start burned out. It took 3 weeks for replacement, there were no stock to be found. There is this company on the other side of civilization that supplies all parts for every electric appliance, we ordered and installed it ourselves yesterday. My son replaced it, and as a reward I shall bake his favourite cake to show my deep appreciation, his assistance saved us a lot of money which was not really convenient right now i.e. buying a new stove!! It always feels great when problems are overcome and things go smoothly again. Take care, many blessings, Elize.
Fabulous finds! Shopping makes everything better! 😁 Shopping in France takes the fun to a whole new level. The pair of jugs are hand made using a coil technique and are used for storing olives. There must be a maker ID someplace on them. I will search the internet to see if I can find a maker for you. Mower issues not so good! 😥
I am thinking the pair of jugs are majolica, if so they are worth a very good penny. I would send a photo to them and ask if they could be majolica. It seems they were the most decorated olive jugs. Some French were as well but not as nice. Who knows but certainly worth a deepdive to find out.
Good evening to my 2 favourite people. Firstly Patrick I love your digressions from one who does the same. Lol Stuart the view from the car was just amazing, it was so clear that I felt I was in the car with you.
The items you purchased are amazing . I love the secretary and the Medici lamps.
When I saw you again driving off in the tractor I was laughing away as you looked as if you were going in to battle and Stuart’s fab music is always spot on. I really think the tractor company should really either refund you or give a new replacement . One more thing before I forget did you ever bury the time capsule or did I miss the episode ? Anyway I digress sorry. I hope you will have fun deciding where to place all your lovely pieces you have bought. Xx🇨🇮
Thank you, sheila! Time capsule is part of an upcoming episode. 💕
Loved the desk, mirror, vases, rug and the door openers. Loved everything else also. I can’t believe the blue claw has to go back for fixing again. It looked like a lil dinosaur 🦖when they were rolling it off the flatbed. Happy almost 100 episodes. 🎈🎊
I also noted the vase full of lovely peonies they were perfect😊 good buys for your château 👌
Nice shot of the fountain and the building with the Mansard roof, Stuart! Second Empire is my fave style of architecture. I also like Spanish style. Love the baby crystal chandelier. Those urns are quite interesting.
Thank you. It is a very pretty style. And Spanish style is amazing too. The urns are really eye catching. Next week we will install about 4 chandeliers…….. can’t wait. Hugs. ❤❤
So many beautiful things that you have brought together absolutely wonderful
Lovely purchases especially the secretary it’s beautiful. The claw not as dangerous as it sound 😂. What do you call a charming person who continually digresses, answer a Patrick 😃 You are both such nice guys, and I’m looking forward to seeing your cousin Patrick, that’s if she doesn’t mind the camera, see you Friday 👋 😊
Thank you so much. The purchases are just lovely and your compliment made me smile first and then blush 😂😂😂. We are just happy to the core that you are with us. Hugs from Colombe. ❤❤❤
you both look so healthy and happy
You have purchased some beautiful things the two vases have you investigated the crest on the front of them that may help you where they came from. Love to all of you Xxxx
Guys, I love all the items you purchased. The secretaire is so beautilful. Did I see a pigeon swirling in the hallway🙂 what a disappointment regarding the tractor 😢 it's nice that they let you use one of theirs. Have a lovely time with Froukje. Hugs and kisses 😘🥰🌞
Thank you, Gonnie! ❤️
Last time you mentioned your fruit trees, do what we do hang tinsel from them to keep the birds off. This works for us in Spain
Great tip! Thank you! 😀
I bought reflective “tape” to make streamers to keep the wood peckers off my oak tree
Yes, here in the US, it's called Scare Tape, or Holographic tape. Many long streamers look very 'festive' on a windy day, but effectively keep the birds away!
@@JourneytotheChateauold CD'S AS THEY ARE REFLECTIVE 😊
We will definitely do that. Stuart has put netting on our currants. But our cherry trees are too large😮😮😮. Hugs from Colombe
Your auction finds are always so interesting. The secretary desk is definitely a find. I feel I am almost at the markets walking with you guys. Good camera work Stuart 👌 👏 ❤️
Thank you, Gloria! 💕💕😘
Beautiful pieces from both locations! I'm so sorry about the Tractor, and Brush Hog, but happy they are sending someone from the company to fix it. Thank you so much for sharing with us, and I'm sharing best wishes for you both. Till next time!!!
We are looking forward to having someone picking up the tractor and repairing it. Now……. Happier news. The items are so pretty. We are excited. And there is more to come. 😮😊😂. We are making progress. See you Friday. ❤😊❤
Well Patrick digressing within the first minute of volg love it great snap shot of France guys again you certainly got great taste for broconting hopefully the claw gets better soon love your laid back attitude to life keep them volgs comming and keep digressing 😂❤
😂🤣😂. I am a digresser. Hard to believe I can actually concentrate 😂😂. Very please that you like our finds….. there will be a few more coming up shortly 😮. We love our lives here and it is a laid back but friend.y and caring attitude here. We are sending you love from Colombe. ❤❤❤
Wonderful episode , I always feel so inspired afterwards and have always wanted my own tractor. Love you both and thanks for sharing. p.s. great finds !
My goodness, that Brocante' was huge!! and such great finds! Am awaiting to see your entire place completed!!!
It was amazing. Now…… our chateau finished……. That will be a few years still. But progress every week. Thank you so much for being with us. Hugs from Colombe. ❤
Everything you found is gorgeous. Congratulations! I love the lamps, all of it. I am like the two of you- when I hold an old book I think of who held it before, who read it, what their home was like, life etc etc etc. I love the continuity and find it very comforting to feel part of a continuum.I love the beauties you picked up at the brocante. Fabulous finds.
I just love your comment. We must be related. Huge hugs. ❤❤❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 Hugs to you, you are adorable, both of you!
Best taste in antiques ever!!!
Congratulations!!
I love your items from the auction and the market finds.❤
Awesome finds! The rug is so pretty! The Medici lamps are cool! You can also walk into the shop and they might get a little scared about your height. Hope the tractor gets fixed soon, like before the summer is over❤ the meat hook thing will look like it has been in your kitchen since it was built, and the door handles are just so solid and belong at your place
Hi Pam. We love the rug. It looks great in the grand salon. And that meat hook….. and that tractor…… 😮😢😂. Huge hugs. ❤
You found some beautiful things! I also love the beautiful peony flowers on the dining room table!❤
Thank you so much. And theses were the last peonies. 😮😊😢. Hugs. ❤❤
On your pair of hand thrown decorated glazed pottery pieces, it looks like the fruit depicted are pomegranates with their seeds flowing. They are the symbol of fertility, good luck and good fortune. Nice find.
Patrick love the look with that beard ❤
And you both have a nice sun kissed look
Pomegranate was an emblem of Kathrine of Aragon, they are many times sign of Spanish empire. Rhey are surely not that old but might have a Spanish influence
Excellent purchases,👍
Lovely as always. ❤ Every single piece from the brocante was just GORGEOUS! I’m in love with those vases.
Patrick, you’ll be pleased to know that Maxwell is also a big nerd, and I find that adorable. ❤ He checks out college textbooks from the library and reads them FOR PLEASURE, if you could imagine!! One of the many reasons I love him so. ❤
Stuart, I notice you always nod along as Patrick speaks German during the intros. Do you also speak German? So many talents!
You both continue to inspire me with each vlog. Big hugs to you both. ❤❤
Thank you, Jayson. ❤️ I am not fluent in German, but similar to French, I do understand most everything that is being said when I hear it.
My dear Jayson. We love each item and the vases are so pretty. I found a pair like that online in the US with a huge price tag. 😮. Maxwell and I must be related. I used to read through a 16 volume dictionary……. I loved it. So I have to say, I know why you love him. ❤😊❤.
Hugs from Colombe and our love to you two in CO ❤❤❤
Loving the new facial hair Patric,
Digression is REAL! I so enjoy everything about your channel.
Thank you!
The lavender behind you us looking good!
Hi guys fab watching you guys again x
The pair of vases are exquisite 💫
Fabulous finds and purchases boys ❤
I love the Terrines and the plater they are beautiful.😊❤
Hello from the tiny island of Mauritius!👋
The vases are also beautiful.😊❤
Very good
You both found some beautiful pieces for your new home. It is hard for me to pick my favorite tbh.
The countryside along your trip to the brocante is so beautiful.
Too bad about the big blue tractor. I’m glad they’ve given you a mower. Will you be getting the tractor back at some point? Maybe 3rd time is the charm.
I’m so glad to see you looking so healthy and happy. It really is hard to believe you’ve been there for a year. Blessings to you both. ❤❤
OMG awesome finds. Love everything! Have fun with your guests😉
I love Patrick's "I digress" always fun to watch Journey to the Chateau
Auction 'wins' were fabulous. I always like to see the brocantes visits. They bear no resemblance to car boots and charity shops here in the UK. Brocantes seem to have much better finds and better quality items. 😊
Enjoyed the vlog. Love the auction and Brocante finds 😊
Thank you from Central America Panama wonderful to see you bringing the old girl back to life.
First of all you both look relaxed and well in the garden, and wow the thing's you got from the palace are wonderful love the mirror well I really liked all of them 😍, And at last you got your tractor back and nooo it's not working right 😢,😮,if you weren't laughing you would be 😭, hopefully it get's sorted soon, lovely day out with Jane and Tony and bought some nice thing's too.enjoyed the video and I will see you both soon take care 💕🌼🤗
The lavender blooming and so tall in opening shot. Love you guys....but I digress..... excellent antique shopping all worthy of new life in your beautiful château. Hugs from Oz
Great auction finds and brocante finds! Definitely out of the dry spell for brocanting! I love the matching tureens and serving dish! Very pretty! The vases are beautiful, hope y'all are able to find out some information about them. Much love and prayers!
Thank you and indeed….. no dry spell right now. 😂😊❤. Aren’t those tureens from Gien fantastic! Much love and hugs from Colombe. ❤❤❤
Yes. Soup tourines. Are lovely. And the matching platter!! Patrick u and Stuart can make 2 kinds of Soup and BUNS and have a SOUP🍵🥐🥖 NITE IN WINTER For Friends. A very nice. Warm up dinner to use ur Gorgeous Soup Tourines and platter. 💞
I'm sorry Ur Tractor was inflicted with illness or injury again. The MFG should give u a rebate💰 gift for the lack of use u had this summer
I hope you pay homage to the brocante goddess before and after your trips for all of the amazing finds you come across. 😂😂 all of those are stunning!!
LOVED this video! Your taste in on-line auction & Brocante items is superb...
I want it all 🥰🥰xx from Canada
Darlings I love everything you purchased
Enjoy them
Lots of love and hugs ❤
Thank you so much 😊
Sorry to hear about the short lived tractor repair, but Patrick does have the Royal wave down. Glad they are loaning you a riding lawn mower in the interim. The chateau auction items are really nice and the Brocante items are nice as well. I agree about the secretaire and wonder who may have used it for writing letters. Take care my friends and enjoy your guests. Ralph Rocchiccioli
Thanks Ralph! 👍
Great vlog as always and great finds, absolutely loved the little desk.. Looking forward to Friday! When you watch every week it's hard to remember the progress!🥰🥰🥰
Thanks so much 😊
Wow! You all did really well on the auction purchases. While I like the little slant front desk I think my favorite thing is the ‘Lampe de bouillotte”. I’m stumped on vases shown at abt 18:39. My first thought is they may be early Italian majolica - please let us know what you find out about them. As always, it’s an automatic thumbs up from me. 🤗
Evan's bus arrived so I missed 1/2 the show. Will re-watch & catch up. Love & hugs to you both.
lovely finds guys , and the tractor saga keeps going 🤣 Grts Yves
Thanks 👍
Oh My! You need to look at Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel, a picture book. When the The Claw was being backed off the trailer, it looked like MaryAnn, the steam shovel.
I love all of your beautiful finds, Patrick and Stuart!! I’m so sorry about your lawn mower, it’s a kick in the pants to wait so long for it to be fixed only to have something else go wrong moments after getting it back. Patrick, I do the same thing you do by imagining who from bygone years used this or that, and who walked the halls of the chateau in the past centuries. Oh if walls could talk, the stories they would tell. Stay well! xx
Love all your treasures. Such lovely items for your chateau ❤❤❤
I just love those vases. (From your South African viewer)
100 episodes ... fantastic :) xx
Really impressed with the items today!!!
You make the most amazing finds while out antiquing. Because those vases are unglazed on the inside I wonder if they might actually have been for storing olives or some other food stuffs on display in a kitchen. Just a wild guess. . . lol.
I think you're right, they'd be glazed on the inside if they were meant to hold fresh flowers. Wouldn't they be absolutely gorgeous with a dried arrangement?
Thank you so much. We did get lucky quite a bit. We will be able to fill our guest rooms and the rooms for family, friends and volunteers and making them sumptuous. You must be right. Olives or pickles would be a great guess. Huge hugs. 💖💕💖
@@oceangalerI agree….. and wait till you see where they will be ending up on display……. I’m teasing, I know……. And we are sooooo excited. Hugs. ❤
Love your new treasures, well done guys! Loved the desk, lamps, rug and that lovely mirror! I do hope the tractor nightmare ends soon for you. It look so sunny and nice there. I am about to plant bulbs here. 😘😘
Happy fall Cliff 🤗🥰🤗. We have another auction haul to collect. Even more amazing items. And all for the guest rooms and kitchen. You will love it, I am sure. Cannot wait to welcome you here and see what you think. 😊❤😊. Love from Colombe.

Lovely “things”. Another successful buying trip.❤
You both make me laugh thank you love all you purchased .
Your pottery vases look a little bit like Raffaellesco pottery from Italy, I’m sure you guys google lens’d it. Nice finds. 😘😘
Love watching yous guys ❤can not wait for the next up date episode 100 can't wait🎉🎉
Interesting that your cousin's name is Froukje. You being German, my family's Dutch and that is the name of my mother's grandmother. Congratulations on 100 episodes! Here's to many more 🎉
Frauke is a North Frisian name. East and North Friesland reach up the North Sea coast until Denmark. On the islands they speak Frisian. I'm also called Frauke, as my mom and my aunts are Wiebke and Heinke.
It is indeed a northern Fresian name (used all along the North Sea coast). We have some amazing old names in our families. ❤❤❤

OMG! The music behind the heralded return of the “claw” was wonderful! Made me giggle 🤭.🎉
So sorry that the joy was so short-lived, Patrick. Kinda sucks 😢😢😢! Hopefully it won’t take another 6-7 weeks and hopefully, it’s really fixed this time. 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼
Beautiful purchases
The rug is stunning!
What a lovely rug!

I have always wanted to ask you this Patrick; Has anyone ever asked you if you looked like the of the lion in The Wizard of Oz??? In your laugh, half the time has a second second laugh and that second laugh reminds me so much of that wonderful Lion! I think the hair helps also.
Don’t change anything, it’s great!
