  • Been after a moderated .410 shotgun for awhile after selling my Hushpower Mossberg 500 20 bore.
This came up very reasonably priced at my local RFD so would of been rude not to buy it, the woodwork is a bit knocked about but I can soon sand that down and give it a nice new Tru Oil finish, the metalwork and action are in very good condition and it feels tight, the bore is in perfect condition and it’s chambered for 3" Magnum, trigger will take some getting used too as is a bit heavy and I pulled the first 2 shots to the left, my 35 metre target range is a bit longer than I would normally use light 2.5" .410 loads at so think at closer ranges the groups will be tighter.
It is incredibly quiet considering how much more powerful it is compared to a U.K. legal air rifle and it’s certainly back garden friendly even with the 1300 fps standard cartridges, none of my local gun shops have any subsonic ammo at moment so looking forward to getting some soon too see how much quieter that will be, also the subsonic ammo comes in heavier 3" loads of 18 grams (278 grains) so that should put a lot more pellets in the spread.
The Eley Fourlong 2.5" cartridges I have are 12.5 grams of number 6 lead which is 193 grains, this doing 1300 fps gives a muzzle energy of 724 FPE which is a big step up from a U.K. legal 12 FPE air rifle, the number 6 shot does soon lose most of this energy as it spreads out after leaving the barrel.
Never heard of Rodacciai Acciaio before but it is made in Italy so guessing quality is going to be ok and think the silencer is made in U.K. by Hushpower.
The howling dogs in the background are nothing to do with me and had been howling long before I went into garden and this was the first 2 shots with gun after getting home.
