I used this last night to remove my stuck bb. I hammered out the bearing first though and used a vice to hold in the BB removal tool. Worked a treat , cheers for the video.
This method saved my 1991 schwinn cross country frame... The left part of the b.b. came out relatively easily but the crank side was almost impossible. I applied penetrating oil for a couple of days, then followed you system.. I found the monkey wrench unsuitable, maybe because it was too short: then I used a spanner and a rubber mallet first, then another adjustable wrench and a 1 mt. cheater bar. Then, I managed to take the bottom bracket off. I am now a happy man.
Great job! Used exactly the same technique today (except I didn't need the hole in the wood, I just had the wood flush to the frame) Sat on the bike and jump started the wrench like I would a motor bike.. Cracked the damn thing loose!
Brilliant advice and technique, I had previously applied heat and WD40 to no avail. Just ordered some stilsons and hope to achieve the same result Many thanks
Works! Thanks for sharing this. Used a large adjustable wrench and hit the wrench multiple times with rubber mallet. Used penetration fluid for seized bolts, let set for hour, then hit with the mallet.
Just made up the clamp and it worked a treat. The trick to keep the tool locked in so there’s no chance of slipping. I’d damage the teeth a little so had to be careful. A very good tip.👍
thank you for sharing. you could also put a threaded rod into the square, and lock a nut on the extractor you use. that would prevent it from falling back good solution though, since it works. did you take it out to replace it with a hollowtech bb or sth?
I will use a PEDROS threaded keeper tool that will be with a large keeper washer/spacer it will thread into the spindle, apply the BB tool then thread in this PEDROS TOOL on top of it and off it comes, no need for several other tools to do the work, I've had this tool for roughly 10 years, you should be able to pick one up at LBS for around $ 15.00, I'll also have a CYCLUS Shop tool as well but that's a whole different animal.
Hey Marcus! Just to thank you for taking the time to make this video and upload it so detailed. Just used it a as baseline for my stuck bottom bracket and it worked like wonders!! No heat needed. Quite surprised as I had destroyed a bottom bracket thread on my previous bike with a dremmel out of patience, and severely brute forced another one after that. My new bike's bracket came off untouched and spotless. Thanks to you!
Luckily i had a large G clamp, and so used a similar approach. one side of the clamp holding the park tool on the non drive side and the other clamped on the opposite side of the spindle..had to stand on the spanner with all my 90kg weight to get it started. this was a new bike too. (i wont be using tapered Bottom brackets in the future, what a nightmare. the non drive side crank arm threads sheared off, even though i have the right tool and have done it a few times before...the 2 piece cranks and Bottom brackets are so much easier to remove)
Plz help me someone, My hands are done, I got bruises on my hands from trying to get the bottom bracket off my carerra for a bafang mid motor, I havent got wood ect only my hands an the bottom bracket tool, I have not got a drill, That wasnt on the tool list for a bafang mid motor fit, Is there any other way from doing this drill method...
3-18 - Did this without the woodblock but same gear. Guys, if you buy a pipe wrench get a 18" I can't believe this thing can grip a smooth surface socket like the Park Tool BB remover. I seriously don't think I could have gotten this BB off without the 18" and I'm pretty big and strong. Expensive but worth it!
In my opinion this method might be useful but it isn't nessesary I got mine out with the tool and a breaker bar. Put my feet on both sides of the frame to put pressure on it like with the clamp and then proceeded to unscrew it. Came loose after about 110 Nm of force.
I had to buy another bottom bracket tool that sort of the same head but has a screwed metal bar into it so it won't slip off and make me feel happy lol trying to go with bafang 750watt but I need to get the bastard cartridge sealed bracket out
I spent a weak trying to figure out a solution to take off a seized bottom bracket and this video gave me the final solution. 🙌

I use a big bolt with spacers and washers to fix the tool in place.

I have a soldering iron blowtorch and a few jet lighters aswel lol and wd40
THank you! Just saved my day! Got my Tapered BB out man.

Stillsons are brilliant.

Great suggestion! I feel so stupid for not thinking about this method.
Ruined another seized (old) Bottom Bracket by trying to use other methods!

Life saver! Great tip! Helped me out today!
where did you find a pipe wrench for a tenner? anywhere I look they're at least 30 bucks..
Good job mate! Big wrench is good for stuck seat posts too.

Worked first time, Thanks very much.
British Ingenuity! Well done, mate!

What size bottom bracket
Absolute genius. Cheers
So good technique, thank you!
Great video, thank you for sharing!!!
Really helpful video, thanks :)

what is the name of blue tool ??
A “g-clamp” aka a “c-clamp”
Yes!!! It worked!! Thanks
this is not seizes :) i just bent 1m bar and thing do not move at all. Even jump on it with impact gun and still nothing.
Bit Heath Robinson, but what the he'll I'm getting desperate here
There is a better/simpler way to do this. simply bolt the splined tool to the shank and tighten it on.
He did mention that, but you are correct it is easy that way.
if only i knew where my pipe wrench was
