Hello Dr. Tim, I have a really good question for you… I have to get my hip replaced… Plus I have a terrible bursa in the same hip all left side… Tingles burning throbbing, it’s just horrible I can’t sit stand or lay.. so my question is on that side I can’t drop they need down to the outside at all like I can’t sit Indian style I can’t do anything it just isn’t so much pain. Do you have any stretches to get a kiss so I guess what I’m trying to say is I can’t bring that leg up to cross it over to my right knee… Which also has to be replaced because it won’t stretch I can’t put my own socks on or my shoe on my left side😢 of any stretches for that at all… Thank you so much for everything you’re doing

Hi Peggy! Thanks for your question and I'm sorry to hear about the condition of your hip. Unfortunately, when the joint degeneration becomes so severe that you cannot move the hip much in any direction, there aren't a lot of stretches that you can do. You could try to massage the muscles more, which can help them to relax, but stretching would require significant modifications. In this case, I would probably recommend that my patients would focus more on the gentle strengthening exercises and deal with the stretching when appropriate in the post-op stages. Best of luck to you!
