My neighbors love my new Vox Pathfinder 10 so much they threw a brick into my window to hear it better
This is one of the best comments I've ever seen.
Wait, are you saying it's bad or do your neighbours just don't like noise? Do you think it's worth buying?
@@novembergold4144 It's a joke.. But it depends on what you're gonna use it for..
Man come on this is theeee best thing I have ever heard Lmao
BWAHAHAHA ... I laughed out loud to the point i had to explain to everyone around me. They all then laughed out loud. Well done.
I remember when i got my first Electric Guitar, I had basically spent my whole month’s pay check for it. I didn’t want to wait another month to get an amp, so i got the cheapest amp i could get (which was £50) and started playing.
I was a beginner, not a guitar connoisseur, so didn’t know how important amps were for my sound. I barely knew what the much about tone. I figured i just had to get better to sound better, and i did. But, as I got better i began to know better and hear better. And i heard that i wasn’t getting the best out of my guitar especially with how others made it sound. I thought the amps played a small part in my guitar sound.
I then realised how important it was after hearing my guitar on a decent amp from my guitar teacher. My guitar sounded like the amount i paid for and then some. I then go back home to practice, and i cannot un-hear the difference. My amp makes my guitar sound like garbage, compared to my teacher’s one.
Remember that the Amp is just as much a part of your guitar as the strings or coils and humbuckers. Don’t make the same mistake i did, get a decent Amp.
MasterStepz9 • For my birthday i bought myself an off brand electric guitar for $100 (monoprice guitar) but it had good reviews. Been practicing for about a month or two now but I’ve been so discouraged cause it sounds nothing like other electric guitar when I play a song. I realized today it probably has more to do with the amp than my guitar lol
Thank you for the clarity was debating on a new guitar or amp
So true, I would rather get an affordable guitar and a $500 and up amp
@@Bojonni Unless your guitar is cheap to point where your amp can't help it, get a new amp.
I bought my self a boss gt 100 effects pedal for $500 and it's changed my whole perspective all I have is $300 dollar ibanez rg 421 with a $200 dollar peavey amp but the tones plus endless experimenting and fun you get out of the pedal is more worth it. (Highly recommend)

I played guitar from pretty young age for about 14 years (eventually played small local gigs covering Hendrix, RHCP etc.), then unfortunately took a 6-year long break, sold all my gear due to drug addiction and other life issues and haven't touched a guitar since. Eventually got clean, got a proper job, and now I'm trying to get back into music and re-learn guitar again. Bought a used 70s reissue Fender strat from Reverb, and after watching this video ordered Fender Champion 40 (from PMT funnily enough, as they had the cheapest price and free next day delivery). Both should arrive tomorrow, really looking forward to getting back into music, I really missed it.
Congrats on going clean. Hope you have a good guitar path, can’t wait for you to regain your skill!
4 months later, how you getting on?
@@BeforeThisNovember Not bad, thanks. Turns out it's kind of like riding a bike. I remembered a lot of it, but obviously was very rusty at the beginning. I try to practice at least 3-4 times a week, and managed to improve the finger dexterity and get the muscle memory back. Still not as good as I was back in the day, but im definitely getting there.
Hey glad to he a r it thatsbprettty much sums me up.. idle hands right.. all I do is play guitar n watch my kids grow up..i rather play more guitar..haa j.k
aww that's good to hear, glad you're clean. not an easy thing to recover from so you should be very proud. good luck on your musical journey!
How is this guys wrist not broken with how low his strap is
The dude is 6 foot 5. He has arms for days 😂😂😂😂

Have you even seen how low Billie Joe Armstrong plays?

BOSS KTN-MINI sounded amazing. Not to over done nor to digital. Great little amp. Thanks for the review and the different riffs and licks to really showcase the versatility of each of these amps.
I had a chance to demo the katana mini once, I was blown away. A small battery powered amp with actual good sounds. Great demo!
you ought to try one of the full sized ones. The 100 watt head is only like $350 bucks, and it absolutely kicks butt...
I have a Vox Pathfinder 10 with the denim finish and love it. The clean channel takes pedals or an effects processor really well too.
Gary Casey I've got one too and I'll agree the cleans are fantastic. But the drive is... Usable at best. Good for practice, maybe some clean recording, but not anything dirty.
How about Fuzz? How does it take a high gain fuzz? Thanks
I love the Pathfinder 10 to pieces. It's great. It's a real throwback to old-school amplifiers. Effects are what you have pedals for - the Pathfinder 10 is just two EQ knobs, a volume and a gain, and way more loudness than its 10 watts would normally indicate.
Kate Tremaine of this list would you recommend it the most?
@@katherineberger6329 please answer
Super rocking video. Everything here is very well done. Pro video and audio quality besides the most natural host/player!
Timothy Taggart calm down mate
Think you might actually love him a bit more than he loves himself..maybe
I'm so glad you mentioned about foot switches. I'm new to playing and so much of this is new to me.
the wah on the champ 40 sounds more like a “weh”
Haha
I have that champion 40. It's my practice amp. I love it!!! I even bring with me to work. I work out of town and I'm gone for up to a month at a time and I can jam with this beauty everywhere I go.
I love how he described every amp crunchy, chewy, and etc. Great video
I just got my Vox Pathfinder 10 and I love it, it makes my Yamaha Pacifica sound beastly. Can’t wait to try my hot rod Indio Cali Classic with my new Seymour Duncan hotrails on it. Great review this guy is legit.
Man you’re really an entertaining guy, I can actually listen to you rather than skipping to the playing. :)
Vox and Marshall are hands down my favorite amps. I've tried tons of boutique ones and the cheap Vox/Marshall are great deal for cleans and heavy music.
Do u know which one of those u would ultimately recommend? I'm trying to choose one that includes both both nice clear, clean sounds and with nice Rock tones
That small Blackstar is a killer amp if you ask me. The Mustang and the tiny battery powered Katana also sound great.
LT 10 / 15 look like they're scaled-up versions of the Fly. Don't know if that's going to cannibalise the ID:core 10/20, where you get the models and effects, but it's tempting.
I love that you don’t discuss the songs you demonstrate with! It makes for a fun little game of ‘name-that-tune’ while we’re listening. Fantastic 🤘
I forget what else but I definitely caught “hammer to fall” and “if you want blood” 🤘
Ahhh!!! Outstanding review!! I am happy to see my Fender 1 v2 on there. :) I am however blown away by all of them. Great review! Two BIG thumbs up!!
I really love and appreciate these videos because they give me hope as someone who doesn’t have a lot of money that I can still get really good equipment!! Thanks :)
what a cool lil amp that blackstar!!
and Katana kicks serious ass as well! cool vid bro.
I love my Boss Katana Mini. I would love for Boss to create 12 watt, 20 watt, and 35 watt versions with a external speaker line out. I love that this amplifier is not a computer. It is very straight forward and has variable power supply source.
i came here looking for a possible replacement for this old first act amp that ive had forever and i think i just fell in love with blackstar

I like the champion 20. It’s simple, but sounds great, Fender make good amps and I recommend the F.C 20.
Great video buddy and fantastic playing too, thank you.
Good selection. These all sounded great. I feel like a bit of it has to do with that Gibson sg tho lol
tone is in his hands..
Nah mate the amp is much more important. I'd say in term of sound 30% guitar 70% amp. Playability is another thing though
patrianagara7 I would agree. My Affinity Squier sounds exactly the same as my Fender Player on my Mustang. I honestly feel comfort is the number one thing to look for when buying a guitar because the suckiest guitar in the world will sound half-decent on a good amp.
patrianagara7 I actually agree with you. I got this crappy amp at home that makes my guitar sound mediocre. But, when i play at my teacher’s house and use his amp, i sound a lot better than i do at home. Its definitely an important factor.
@@destianpatrianagara1119 agreed. I also add that it takes time to learn to “play” an amp. It’s like another instrument how it interacts and works with guitars
I love your videos bro! “It rocked my socks off, man!” Hilarious! I’m definitely getting a Katana to travel with as a back up. I also love them blackstar amps. I would not even consider these amps if it wasn’t for this video.
Love how instead of SG like normal SGs, Dagan has his name on the headstock.
Great job and fun to watch as always. Happy to see my trusty little Vox Pathfinder 10 in the line up.
One little trick up its (tiny) sleeve. Recently used the 1/4 inch line out direct into the Mixer/FOH at a outdoor gig recently. All I can say is... WOW! Surprisingly fat and rowdy.
Thanks for the video. Needed to get the kids a combo amp had no idea what to get and this video really helped. Just ordered the Blackstar stereo 40 from pmt. They can't wait for it to arrive.
I admin an SG group on Facebook with about 11k members. The topic of recommendations for a small, practice amp comes up frequently there. Thank you for making this video. I have shared it there in hopes this video will help them make a more informed decision about what amp they plan to purchase.
Vox Pathfinder sounds by far the best. I played it live and was very surprised. The Mustang sounds good too but Fender's quality has been a question on their expensive amps, I can't imagine the cheap ones receive better QA.
Cool Vid and Great Job Man.Like your 7 Best choices.Have the Katana Mini and Love that.
thinking of picking up the orange micro terror! 😍 thanks for the review
That Californiacation riff sounds so amazing!
HAMMER TO FALL! Brilliant playing as always, Dagan. The Champ and Vox are my faves. Incredible sounds for so little cash. £69 is ridiculous!!
Dude you are awesome fun amd love your guitar playing . thanks for all the great tips
I have the Mustang any boy oh boy I was mighty confused with the presets ! Read the manual and loved tweaking it . It's an awesome amp .. great value for money
I got a Yamaha THR10x this orange kills it. For the price it sounds amazing! Regardless of its solid state power section. That 12Ax7 makes it roar
Have Blackstar 40 V2 and it is really nice and versatile amp. You can do almost what ever style with it. Also Katana mini sounds great to be so tiny. I am not saying that the others are bad though.
Exelent vid. TYVM. Just what I was looking for.
The Fender Champ 20 is great if you wanna go cheaper! I love it.
5:36 *Kirk Hammett has entered the chat*
Thanks for the help Russell!
Woah! You played a Vains Of Jenna riff in the Blackstar ID Core part. They used to be a great band, awesome to see them getting some recognition! That whole Scandinavian sleaze rock/metal scene in the 2000s was something really special.
Orange mini terror or Blackstar ID Core 40 are both on my want list now. Though like the Mustang too.
Drop Tuned I am the same
I have the Mustang and it is incredible
I love the look of the Orange amp
Love my champion 20 so easy to dial in anything with very decent tone and no digital screens or computer. Just turn a few knobs like a proper amp. I play it way more than my big amp and pedals
Really good video! Thank you very much!
The "clean" channels on the Mustang are great. I have a Mustang I and it blows me away. As you said, the "Twin Reverb" preset is amazing. However, the high gain presets are so-so. I am personally dissatisfied with the orange Metal 2000, since it has overly saturated basses and feels a bit "hollow". This amp shines because you can change every single aspect of it. That's its main advantage.
Yes I love the twin reverb. So cool.
That Vox clean sounds is really sweet 8:30
absolutely brilliant. fenders are chock-full of fun and dependable, small blackstar was nice, larger blackstar seemed too fiddly, orange too limited.
I wish Vox would have kept the Pathfinder 15. That one had reverb and an extension speaker jack. They also made some interesting Pathfinder "stacks", I believe it came with two 1x10 cabinets, and a Pathfinder head.
Thanks man! Decided to get the Fender Champion 40 because of this video.
Is it a good amp? I was considering buying it myself.
@@saqibshabir9755 Yeah, I'm satisfied with the purchase. It's pretty hard to use it at a lower volume though.
@@methodkid93 Thanks for the reply. Trying to find a good amp upgrade.
Fender champion 40: played it for 4 years. Plays great, sturdy, and flexible.
Great video, thanks! Nice blend of review commentary, balanced with playing. ♪
We're glad you liked it Mary! -Lee
In my younger days when i played in various metal(death/grind/ black) i used to play on a pawn shop special $100 Randall rg100es with a home made 4x12 filled with V30s and let me tell you, i had never in my life received so many compliments coming from peavey 5150, mesa boogie, marshall jcm and other high end tube amp owners on my sound and low end thump...funniest moment i had was when a headlining band busted his Mesa before they went up and borrowed my head, when he was done playing he said thanks and said "wow, what a great head...but where is the stand by switch?"...i said its a solid state amp, no stand by and the face he made was priceless, his mind was blown lol hahaha
so glad my fender mustang was in here 🙏🙌
The boss katana mini sounds so good!
This video was perfect for me and very well done
I run my Orange micro terror through a 4x12 cab. Awesome tone!
The weirdest thing happens when I use a wah pedal and the wah setting on my amp, when I hear the sound I have no control over my mouth and I often times find myself making a "wah" motion with my mouth, completely uncontrollable, guess I'm just feelin' the music!
This guy makes playing the guitar look so effortless. I think I'm getting the Fender champion 100.
Eya the 666th is it good for a beginner like me?
TeeSoK I think so yeah if ur really certain u are going to keep at it if ur just trying out i think u should get a mini amp I would recommend maybe the marshal ms2 micro it can do clean and distortion and is very cheap for what you get
Great video, thanks, i like them all but am thinking of going with the First one, Fender Champion 40
The fender mustang has some hidden features like if you hold exit while adjusting treble it adjusts mids, also if you Jed exit while turning it on it resets all the presets to what they were out of the box
Hi Dagan, I love the faces that you make when you play
One of the best little amps I have ever heard in my sad sad life 😂
Yeah, man. Boss is making some scary gear recently.
V HAS COME TO boss
Hey, what the hell's your problem? The OP was probably exaggerating. I'd imagine you have a sadder life, considering you apparently enjoy telling people to kill themselves.
Charlie Crane sorry, I was just quoting the guy. Not sure what happened here lol
Tomekkplk Oh yeah, some dude replied to the original comment telling the guy to kill himself, and I just called him out on that. The replier just deleted his comment
Jaysus! I dig this channel. Thank you for the vid. I watched a video on inexpensive guitars here and that's why I bought my Epiphone SG. While I was at the shop, I bought a Boss Katana 100. Amazing amp! I love the Boss amps. I'm going to get the mini soon. Well done mate. Always love your vids.
Thanks for playing the Whole lotta love riff

My point is: these little Amps sound incredible for what they are!!! They get better every year!!!!
ROCK ON
was the day. Hey
I was ready to buy a Marshall MG15 until I heard some bad things about its tone and performance, so now I have idea what to get. So far I like the Pathfinder and the Katana shown here but they look a bit limited.
The Line6 Spider V is great, I have one, it has good tone and it's very easy to use with lots of presets that are easily customizable.
Heh good one
I got the Champion 20, which was more of a bedroom amp (what I was looking for), and it is definitely a nice amp with a ton of features. I'm American and it cost me just $100.
Love the wear on the guitar. My guitar got no scars yet, unlike me.
I have the Fender Mustang for home use & Katana Mini for travel. I spent a total of $340 Canadian for both and it's probably the best duo I've ever bought 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I spent a total of €210 for those both and am quite happy with them as well.
@@johannessilver8653 I spent a total of £160 for both and and I’m thrilled with the pair
I would recommend for beginners something like a Roland micro cube because it has loads of effects and you can get so many different sounds out of it
Thanks for the demo. I mainly work in my small studio with keyboards, etc. I thought I didn't need an amp. So I connect my guitar directly into my sound/mixer card. It was fairly ok. However, as soon as I started using effect pedals things sounded horrible. Pedals like Freqout and big muff became unusable. My Boss GT-1 is usable only because I can adjust the preamp, but then I loose the intended effect! Do you think I need an Amp and then input it to the studio through a mic? Is there any other way, without letting out the sound into the room. Or do you think I probably have another problem with my sound setup? For example using XLR cables, or a preamp such as Palmer pocket MK2 before the soundcard, etc., to solve the issue? Thankful for any advice.
To me I love the honeytone, because of its sheer size to price and the fact it’s actually a very well made amp compared to a more expensive 35$ unbranded Amazon amplifier, so it’s great for travel. It’s also just a nice thing every guitarist needs if they want to mess around with something and not worry about breaking it since you can get a brand new one for 20-25$ all the time.
NOW THAT'S HOW YOU DO A REVIEW BRAVO!!!
All Kick ass! Have the Fender champion, mustang V1 (also not shown * Marshall & Line 6), just picked up an Orange amp that has completely won me over. Different tone that cannot be matched by any of these. Just my preference though. I personally think you cant go wrong with any of these, Whatever suits your style. Rock on!
My first amp was a hh 50 watt combo( mate blew the amp so gave me his laney pro linebacker 100 watt bass top, powered my speaker great )I’ve also got a peavey micro bass amp, black star I’d core 40 v1,black star fly with extension cab, Marshall 100 watt and 4x12 cab but can use my pro linebacker bass through the cab,I do like the way a bass amp sounds with a normal guitar through it,great for good chuggy stuff
Rickenbacker through Vox; my favourite sound in this lifetime!
I have a first act I love it after putting some high output pickups and new paint Ford factory green it never gets out of tune and I love the Gumby headstock I have had people ask if it is a custom guitar it shreds
Steven Rathbun First Act......LOL!
first act. lol humorous comment.
thanks for this video really helped me
I still have my vox pathfinder and I still love it after almost 18 years owning it.
The Vox VXI is even more of a step up than the Pathfinder. It's a little BEAST! The 'Double Rec' setting is a poor musician's Dual Rectifier. And it works SO well! Killer sound!! The little amp also kicks out some excellent low end!
Hi. I'm blind and am wondering if you could please elaborate on dimensions/weight of these amps - in particular, which of them are closest to the Roland Micro Cube (how much smaller, bigger or are they similar etc)? And which of them are friendliest/easiest for use without reliance on sight? (I'm not that happy with the Roland Micro Cube, and am trying to find out which alternatives are easier for getting to the sounds I like - eg as well as crunch/distortion type stuff, I love the twangy/bluesy/garage tones - eg as found in "The House Of The Rising Sun".) I don't play live, so this is for home use/practice.
Vivien Palcic how did you type this comment/plan on reading replies?
@@tremendoshd2356 there are programs like dragon that can read and create text for you without the need for typing.
@@PiruPiruPiruPiPiruPi I can type proficiently and use NVDA which is a screenreading software that outputs spoken feedback of what's being typed, and other programs/tasks I'm navigating - eg websites, email etc. (But it can't describe videos, or make sense of websites with poor design/accessibility.) And I use an electronic Braille device conected to the computer, which works in conjunction with the screenreading software to provide Braille readout of the text too. Thanks for replying.
@@vivienpalcic6135 Did you find this through your own efforts? This is something I have been looking to do for my grandmother for years, but never understood how.
@@jdsd744 I used screenreading software for many years, firstly commercial products such as JAWS for Windows, sold by Freedom Scientific, the company now known as Vispero (www.vispero.com) in the US. I took classes at one of the agencies for the blind here in Australia when I was first learning to use the computer, but years later, I'm nowadays using an open-source screenreading software called NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access), developed by NV Access. The project runs largely on community funding and the website is: www.nvaccess.org/ They have come a long way since the project started in 2006 and NVDA is used by blind people now in many countries. There are also email-based discussion lists for users of the software to share information and tips for using the software, and NVAccess also has training materials available for purchase via their site. Many electronic Braille devices like the one I use - the Brailliant BI 40 from HumanWare (www.humanware.com) are supported by NVDA, so they can connect to the computer via USB or bluetooth to provide Braille output of the screen too, but those devices are more expensive (I had to get funding assistance for mine), though there are more affordable options which have come out more recently. But many people who don't read Braille are just relying on the spoken feedback from NVDA (or whichever screenreader they're using). Apple has its own screenreader called VoiceOver, built into the Mac and iOS products, so people don't have to download it separately. I hope this helps.
