What do you look for in your ideal guitar amp?
Loud
Quality and isn’t line 6
not a line 6 spider v
Goes up to 11
try a fender blues jr,it goes to 12
My neighbors are so awesome. They ask me to play when they're sad or happy or something. I love my neighborhood.
Where do you live?
@@AshokSingh-bc1zl Siliguri, West Bengal, India.
Debangshu Paul I'm preparing for my Neet Exams and I'm aiming for a Kolkata college but when I practice I irritate the shit out my neighbours , they don't like Zeppelin I suppose😂
@@AshokSingh-bc1zl That's sad friend. 😕😕😂😂😂 If they don't like then let the Led Out by their Zeppelin.
I haven't heard from the neighbors yet. They probably want me to learn another song.
Jokes on you I don't have any money.
gottem
Ikr 🤣🤣😂😂😭😭
😭😭😭😭
Try getting a full time job, works for me

*awesome PRS amp montage*
*3 PRS amps next to him*
"I'm not trying to sell you one amp particularly"
prs amps suck imo
He isn't telling you to buy one now does he? He just happens to use those...
I was about to comment the same thing 😂 prs guitar too
@@TheEchelon No but he does not mention a single other brand, make or model and only goes on about the qualities of the amp in question. If you're newer to guitar and came here for advice, you're going to leave only knowing about this amp. The video doesn't service the end user that well but Paul Reed Smith is being serviced very well.
When are we going to talk about all the PRS guitars this guy has?
If you can afford it, and it sounds pleasing to your ear, it is your ideal amp.
Last time I was this early, John Mayer played Fender and Kirk only used x1 Wah-pedal...
Kirk uses a rack mount wah, I think, so that's technically 1 wah, right?
in the making of hardwirded he wanted to use two hahahha
X1 wah pedal hahhahahha! When was this I've always seen at least 5 😂
wait in tour he has 2, 1 as a main and 1 as a backup, oops
I thought the advice was going to be "if it has PRS written on it, buy it" :P
Tbh tyler is a big PRS fanboy
Have you ever owned a PRS; cause you'll find reason when you do. PRS is really good gear for the right price
@@thibaultvandenbogaerde1504 I have played one, they're not for me though. I prefer the good old strat.
Edwin samuel then the silver sky is for you
@@thibaultvandenbogaerde1504 not for the Music I play I don't like the prs amps at all
After working as a sound tech for a while, I think direct/headphone out option is pretty important feature. Bass players have it right; sometimes the correct amount of stage volume is none at all.
Until you unplug your headphones and realize you still sound bad.
#1 tip for beginners -- Don't start chasing expensive amps until you're past the beginner stage and have become a competent player. The best amp in the world isn't going to help you if you're still fumbling with chords and rhythm.
Very true!
The main reason not to chase an expensive amp is because you probably haven't matured enough to know what you really want. If you can afford a nice amp and it inspires you go for it.
Tristen Thayer amen to that, if I actually bought the stuff I wanted as a beginner I would have regretted it when I actually found my playing style
limitations expand creativity. Making the best out of your gear or situation might spark something that wouldn't come out even with a 3,000 dollar amp. It might feel counter intuitive in the beginning but starts making sense eventually.
Good advice. My first amp was a Yamaha THR10, the cream coloured one and used it up until earlier this year when I out grew the amp and needed 2 foot switchable channels to play a clean intro and a dirty channel to continue the song I wanted to learn. It took me 12 months to find an amp to replace it where the replacement amp had all and more features but was a tube amp with more feel on the fretboard.
I was looking for versatility and ended up with the Fender Bassbreaker 15w. I love it. It's all I need at the house or at a mic'ed up gig. Hey Tyler, great playing man. I've been watching you since nearly the beginning of your channel and even though you've always been excellent, I can see that you are continuing to grow in your musicianship too.
You made me realise that I don't need a new amp, since the one I have is perfect for my needs. Makes me really glad that I begged for this one and that my dad agreed to get it for me back when I was a teenager...
I have a 1999 Fender Princeton 65, and while I do love it, I thought it was time for a more 'serious' amp - a head with a cabinet. But this single 12" combo amp sounds great, I love the clean sound and the drive (still looking for a distortion pedal that I like as much), it has an effects loop and it's a whopping 65 Watts. I don't think I ever turned the volume knob past 2 at home.
I also like the reverb, but I might eventually get a reverb pedal for more versatility... I think back in the day it cost around $700 (where I live prices were double what they cost in the US at the time. It's better now).
Thanks for reminding me why I got this amp in the first place (and it seems like teenage me knew what he was doing more than I remember)
"I'm not trying to sell you any one particular amp", while sitting next to a mountain of PRS ampy goodness... lololol
And he also said : "i don't really need this". Hahaha ! Clean sound is fine but the overdrive tone was muddy.... Yuck
I don’t really like the fact that he is obviously sponsored by PRS... now everything he shows is PRS.
I freaking love the production of your videos. Your playing and camera shots/angles of that natural Fender Strat you have (in some other videos) single-handedly changed my mind about Strats and now I want one lol
I honestly have had my amp for years before I unlocked it's potential. I have a Peavy amp with multiple effects, and I love it. It's very versatile and that's what I was looking for.
Just bought a fender twin finally found one here in Hawaii after searching forever. It’s pretty much perfect for what I like.
Thankyou finally someone informing people about FX-Loops on Amps. The other thing to watch for is some of the older Amps will have Fx-Loop input/Output but they won't be able to give you the strength of signal/sound you want (when used with multiple pedals).. so test before buying..
Head+ cab +attenuator , to be able to push the valves and amp to its best tones
Awesome! Would be nice if you could talk about the differences between a vocal amp and a guitar amp. Also would be great some recommendations for amps that are suitable for both situation.
Thanks for the video, Tyler. Can you do more videos about amplifiers and sound in general? Like going into details explaining what return/send or preamp/power amp is, etc. Thanks ;)
I been having a sonzera 20 for about a year, it's the only amp that I like as much as my vox ac15. The sonzera 20 is a hell of a lot louder than the vox ac15.
Update: sold the sonzera and got a Mesa Boogie. The mesa is so much more versatile then the sonzera.
That guitar is sick and that tone through amp is pure gold
I just bought the VOX classic rock headphone amp and it's one of the best guitar gadgets ive bought. Now I'm running and jumping around at home playing guitar
With regard to amp wattage, I have found many amps with full features like footswitching capabilities, eq for each channel, boost, midi, etc are only available on the 100+ watt amps. Until very recently with the growing popularity of lunch box amps, these options were not available universally outside of the full or half stack realm. My first real/tube amp was a jcm 2000 tsl 100. The deciding factor was the tsl 100 having independent eq controls for each channel. The rest of the amps in that range had to share eq to varying degrees. I do agree with the remaining 6 points however. Great delay setting tone in this video!
As a total beginner i started with Roland CUBE 15W XL (used). And guitar is Harley Benton Amarok allso slightly used. I think those will serve me for a good time to come 😊
Can never go wrong with a marshall or a fender. Two classic tones that have outlasted more expensive boutique amplifiers year after year.
The tounge🤣🤣I lost it🤣🤣I'm dead
you don't need anymore than 15w
for instance, I went to a huge outdoor festival and %90 of the guys were playing through either AXEFX or kemper 🤗
Love that PRS guitar. One of the nicest guitars I've ever seen.
Love my little Fender 15G Good sound quality, easy to to carry, minimal background noise from the amp, love the gain on it. I'm a beginner electric guitar player. I create my own music. :).
One of my favorite rock amps is a Bogner Ecstasy 101b I saw Steve Lukather use it onstage and it sounded amazing clean and distorted but for my country stuff I'll stick to wanting a Twin Reverb
Tip #8 buy an Amp you can use a home and at the gig. A lot of amps have power switching, so you can run at a lower wattage at home and then kick it up for the gig. I have a Marshall 2525H that I love for that reason; at home I run 5W into a 2x12 cab and at the gig I run at 20Watts into either the same 2x12 cab or a 4x12 cab for outdoor/larger venues. Tip #9 I agree that a 1x12 combo will work for most gigs, but buying a head and several cabinets can add some versatility to your stage setup. Like I mentioned earlier I have both a 2x12 and a 4x12 cab for the same 2525H head depending on the gig. The power switching is so important for me because I can't justify having an amp that only sounds good cranked at gig stage levels, it has to sound good at home too.... even if I'd love a 50W or 100W Marshall :)
Awesome video thanks, Great chops too bud. Hats off !
So nobody is going to talk about the 3:50
Nope, nope, didn't see it.. I was out of the room at the time.
What that tongue do 😳
How well do the Sonzera’s handle metal? The 50 watt caught my eye but idk if these amps can handle high gain territory, although I’m in love with the cleans on them
Really needed this vid rn
Amazing Guitar! the "sonzera" sounds great too!
This sounds like a nice amp seems it has two good channels , some amps have a terrible clean sound (which is what I look for first) and a great overdrive, which is frustrating, two amps are too much to transport.I use a Princeton 65 re-issue and I swapped out the rubbish baffle board and speaker that really let the amp down badly -I now wonder what other good amps are ruined by cost cutting?I think pedal overdrive is a good enough sound for most gigs ( but probably not as good as an amp overdrive)
how to use a prs amplifier;
step 1.
sell it and buy a mesa
I just recently did that and couldn't be happier with my mesa boogie!
Damn, thats some cold shit
Best advise
Thank you for the insight. Great explanation.
Which Amp do you recommend? I'm looking for an affordable, light amp that I can use for playing metal and heavy rock
I'm always looking for the best quality vs price ratio. Jet City amps are fantastic and very affordable. I'm also looking for high-quality 1960s and 70s lesser known British amps that can be had for dirt cheap. WEM, Carlsbro, Selmer, Burman etc.. I also avoid amps with switchable channels, there's usually a bunch of junk electronics in the signal path.
Very important - if you're looking at a head, be aware of it's output impedance! Ideally, you want one with variable impedance, but make sure you don't get an amp that won't work with your favorite cab!
I was set to buy a 40 watt amp based on specs and price after playing two years with a 15 watt Marshall. But then I realized, I don’t need another practice / beginner level amp; I need the amp I’m going to need for the next two years or more, good enough to play live with a drummer but also has the tone I want. So now I’m on the hunt but not in such a rush as I was to get something I can buy now.
I was looking for advice on which amp to buy when looking for a high-quality, gig-ready tube amplifier that I can use pedals with. I think you just sold a PRS Sonzera 20.
Hey do you mind telling me what color you have on your guitar? If you know any more info on it, how to achieve that color?
Very interesting topic, I wish I had seen it before! Fortunately, I avoided buying a too much expensive amp that i don't need
I need help, please! What would you recommend for a first amp?
Guys, I am considering to buy an amp just for practice at home, I kinda like "vox vx I" what's your opinion on that? any advice helps!
Hard to get PRS brands in Australia with out paying a mortgage amount but would definitely buy one instantly if easily available
Amazing tone dude!!!
How loud do we have to be to get those juicy bits from valve amps?
Is it possible to do it in a bedroom setting?
I have access to a Peavey TNT 115 S. What do you recommend for a preamp m
I remember getting rid of my engl stack and getting a 6505 combo. I still miss it
This guitar tone is awesome!!!!
it is
What about built-in attenuator feature? That was one of the things that sold me on my Carr Mercury.
5:00. Setting gain to high. And controlling clean to distortion using volume knob on guitar.
Hey can you say again, are those 408 pickups on your PRS? Enjoy your shredding sir!
I feel you didn’t really explain what the effects loop does or how to get the best use out of it. Is there a different video that explains or can anyone direct me to that.
There's a search bar...
Any thoughts on the likes of the Fender Pro Junior, vox ac10, and even the boss katana 50 which have no effects loops?
Wow I've been out of the musician world for a while obviously, when did PRS start making amps!? Lol sounds beautiful though 👍🏼lots of clarity with great sounding crunch which I used to love about the old Mesa Boogies, but this is different and I like it.
Micro cube GX... Classic stack..delay at max... Tone at 1:00 clock...gain at 11
Gnr tone achieved
In perfect time, thanks for help, greetings from Poland
What about an FRFR (PA speaker) instead of an amp? I do everything though a Line 6 Helix these days and I'm happy with the tone so buying an amp that will color the sound seems silly. Still, I love the idea of having a guitar amp and not a PA speaker. This is a question more than a comment, all I have at the moment is a Fender Frontman 25R.
I just rec'd a brand newHarmony H650 Tube amp. Do i need to acclimatized before plugging and playing? Thank you
So I’m looking into buying the Kurt Cobain Jaguar guitar but don’t know if a fender amp can be used with it. Any ideas?
3:48 Tylers tounge. Awesome advice man!
I really love the prs mt15 but prefer marshalls more, after that i also love fender and mesa boogie
I'm torn in deciding between either a Marshall dsl40cr, Fender hot rod deluxe or a PRS Sonzera
Dude I needed this thanks
Wow I really love the little lick at 3:35 did you just make this up? Or could you name the song?
Those Jimi licks sounded great.
Tyler, a fellow Western NC guitarist, are you going to the guitar show in the Agg center this weekend?
has anyone recommend the best amp like Mesa boogie? Marshall or fender? I need to choose one as a practice amp I need to buy from online shops though.
I have a marshall mg101fx and it sounds very muffled kinda like the speaker in it is just to dead to bring out any tone. Im looking for a amp that has a amazing mid range because I love a high mid tone. for around the 400-500 price range would a orange be a great amp? I have no guitar stores near me so I cant try any out which is the problem😆
I almost wish he would have given a few names at least as examples, because the terms used are a bit foreign to me... I dig the Stevie Ray Vaughn sound for example I have a nice Stratocaster and I understand that a LOT depends on talent and skill. So what amp is going to get me close without getting the cops called on me? I was thinking about s blues jr, or a Princeton reverb (I have a tube screamer pedal). I appreciate any advice.
I have now little Vox Pathfinder 10 and looking for a new amp, thanks for infos
If I buy a Tube amp and a Pedal wil I get the tipical Tube overdrive sound ?
Hey Tyler! I’m trying to get a board together for under 1000$ and I would really like some advice on what to do! Thanks!
Griffin Lamon 2x12 marshall cab and a mini 5150 head or a used bigger one
My 2004 Peavey Bandit red stripe is all I need. But, great advice.
Best amp brand for playing beatles and ELO?
Any tips for an electric accoustic guitar amp?
Good stuff! Thanks!
a nice fender is always good.
i want tp get a fat marshall amp next
Just looking for a new amp and i get this notification. WOW
The environment you play in makes a difference in sound too. If you crank an amp in a tight, squeezed environment, it's going to sound completely different than if you were in a big open room.
What are your thoughts on a sovtek mig 60??
Is that a private stock PRs or ten top? Freakn gorgeous
It depend on your style about the FX Loop. For me I have absolutely NO need for one. I go for clean/high headroom. So all my “dirty” sounds come from pedals. Therefore everything works great though the front end. Just my style.
I need a reliable decent sounding multi-fx modeler having extensive sound shaping parameters where every parameter is controllable and automatable via MIDI CC, responds to MIDI clock and MIDI time code, time-related parameters such as delay time and modulation rates/frequency are syncable to MIDI beats driven by the MIDI clock and can be set by an entire range of note values from whole notes to 64th notes with triplet variations, has flexible routing options to allow for pedals before the input and multiple line level inserts switchable between series or parallel wiring, and options to output to the return or post-preamp input of a guitar amp w/out IR or speaker sims while outputting IR/speaker sim processed signals to a clean solid state power amp driving a full range system. There are only two such self-contained units I'm aware of as of now, the Axe FX II and up or the Line 6 Helix. Otherwise, I'd need a computer driven system running Guitar Rig, TH3, etc.
plz explain:Do i need to buy different amps for playing rhythm and lead?
And what is the main difference between both?
Ashmit dey no. If you’re just starting out start out with something that has cleans and distortion. A 2 channel amp. If it just has cleans then u will need to buy maybe a distortion pedal or whatever your thing is. Start out simple. As you get better. You will get better gear. Price and quality is the difference. If you don’t know this yet you are definitely just starting out. So start simple. You don’t get better gear til you become a better player. And see if you will be sticking with this hobby. Maybe a katana amp. A lot of guys seem to like that. Again, your main goal should be a comfortable playing guitar and decent amp. You should be learning guitar right now. Great gear comes later. Maybe check out a Roland cube amp.
Can anyone comment on the Blackstar HT stage 100 amp head? Running through a 4x12 vintage cab loaded with Celestion speakers. I got them both for a GREAT deal... Also any comment on the Roland Cube 60W combo?
Wow, that amp sounds very good!!
just bought a marshall 2525h now looking for a better cab to partner with it. ^^
Where do i buy PRS Standards? Do they cost 1000 dollars?
Best budget valve amp for the money? I was looking at the fender super champ x2
Evh 5150 mini head or a TubeMeister 18
Could you do this type of video for pedals
Like the clean channel of your amp - you can fix dirty stuff with pedals, much harder to "improve" clean tone with pedals tho
3:49 i couldn't catch a breath, after that i just lost ist completly, thanks for the best laughter i had in a long time
i am considering testing a Marshall dsl40cr vor blackstar ht40.
any recommendations or alternatives in that price range.
I can only recommend blackstar but you can also check out the evh 5150 mini head, also Hughes and kettner TubeMeister 18 I think is in the same price range
I personally started with a shitty cheap 10w rockjam amp and i couldnt hear anything clearly and i recently got a boss katana 50w and its pretty good for indoor practicing
