    I mean is Baela guilt tripping or is just living in reality? The war is now in full swing, he can either choose to take his place as Hand or completely turn his back on his family and offer his ships to the greens. What purpose would sailing away into the sunset never to be seen again serve? He’s lost so much already, would giving up all that he has left really fit who Corlys is? I completely agree, he should be allowed to grieve. Sadly in time of war, you’re not usually afforded that time.

  • @STGAoe
    @STGAoe 3 месяца назад +1

    You’re kinda misunderstanding what the people in the story think about the dragons with what you probably feel towards them. They don’t grieve for them, they are just confused because they all viewed the Dragons as indestructible monsters. Hence why at the end he said “its just meat”. It’s because they all realized at the end of the day they can be killed and they aren’t the unstoppable gods of destruction that they all feared. This is also the same dragon that killed a bunch of them last season so they do not feel bad for it’s death. It’s all just confusion and fear of whats to come. The fear being because they view this as a sign Rhaenyra might come and burn them all for their actions. Thats why so many people were trying to leave the city alongside other reasons. They fear that the battle will come to THEM now.
    The masses usually HATE the dragons or see them as just like how one would see a nuke. The dragons like their dragon riders and that’s basically it. It’s been shown multiple times in the lore that if you are not a dragon rider or of Valyrian descent these dragons will just kill you if you get close to them without their rider being like “oi chill”.
    And also, dragons do kill dragons. They are violent beasts that only remain “calm” due to their affection for their rider. If they didn’t care, they would just take off and kill everything they can.

    Sure reahnys would have preferred to not go to war. So would half the kingdom. But that’s not the situation we are in. The point baela is making is simply that she chose to stand by her family and fight for who she believed to be the rightful ruler. Nobody. Not a single person forced her or even influenced her decisions. In fact she volunteered to go fight herself and even corlys didn’t try to persuade her not to go. Everyone knew the risks involved most of all reahnys. As far as her dying the reason she chose to stay and die fighting and not run is as baela states. She wanted to die a dragon riders death and not run in fear of death. It’s who she was and corlys knows this better than anyone. Baela’s intentions aren’t to not let him grieve but to help him grieve by helping him see that this is what reahnys wanted and that she stayed true to herself till the end. Again yes she would’ve preferred not to go to war but that’s just not the reality of the situation and every decision she made was 100% hers and hers alone

    And they defied Aegon the Conquerer with arguably the most famous dragon to have ever lived and his two dragon rider sister wives. They showed that a dragon can be easily killed like an ordinary animal. but then they also use dragons. and yet they didn't take into account how this might affect people's perception of their own dragons. on the one hand, it is somewhat understandable that they wanted to show that they have defeated the dragon of the other side of the conflict and thus wanted to show that they are stronger, but this is the wrong way because it can easily turn against them.

      Velaryon. And they are not extinct in game of thrones, they simply aren't included in the show. They back their liege lord Stannis Baratheon in the War of the Five Kings with the Lord of the Tides, Monford Velaryon, dying by wildfire in the Battle of Blackwater Bay. His bastard half-brother Aurane Waters later serves Cersei Lannister as Grand Admiral and Master of Ships.
