This is the only time I’ve ever watched a cricut tutorial video all the way thru. You actually make sense while explaining this. Plus, you’re easy to listen to and watch. Thanks for sharing, I finally understand the process now. Thank you ❤
Oh wow im so honoured!! Thank you so much!! Im so glad it helped you
This is by far the best Vinyl/cricut tutorial I have ever seen! This video should blow up! I haven't seen this technique anywhere and I thunk I've watched all of RUclipss Cricut side 🤩
Wow, thank you so much! Very very much appreciate it! 😍 Glad it was helpful for you!
Agreed! Watched so many Cricut videos, but none as good as this one!
Right!! Usually they have all the other cutting machines but cricut!!
What vinyl specifically is it that you’re using that has the transfer tape on it already. I have used cricut premium perm vinyl and I still have to put transfer tape on it. Great video. Thank you in advance.
Completely agree! This tutorials was everything!
i just bought a cricut and watched many videos on how to make decals, yours is by far the best! The only one who explains why we are doing each step! Very hard to learn when people dont tell you why you are doing certain steps!
Ah thank you so much! Im so glad you find that my approach works for you!
First time using my Maker 3 and making stickers in general. Combination of this tutorial and my experience in illustrator made it a success. Made a variety of complex design stickers in one go. Thanks!
Aaaaah love love hearing this!!! Well done! Thats no easy feat
Great video ! Amazing how well those stickers came out.
hehe thank you so much! :D
This video was amazing. I picked up a circuit to use in my auto refinishing business. I wanted to start making my own stencils when I’m airbrushing. Discovered everything I needed to know and gotten up and going. Thank you very much. I know it’s an older video, but it was amazing that I stumbled across it.
Glad it was helpful!
Stunning video Kelly! Everything so perfectly explained!!

Wow, I will definitely watch this again slowly, when I do my stickers. Just the video I need right now. Thank you for a really great video 😊😊

I have been in search of how to cut my stickers on the cricut without them just being duplicates and cutting super close. You've given me a better, more in depth, and easy to follow explanation on how to make the most amazing stickers that womt look janky! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome! Thank you!

Very helpful!
Glad you think so!
Well done. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome Video! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Okay! So we need transfer tape without the lines on it. Sold a sticker as a car decal. Client is going to transfer it the way one normally does (she has experience in that regard) but I could have saved a whole bunch of transfer tape using an offset and by using transfer paper that has no lines on it.
Something to remember for the future! Thanks Kelly!
You are welcome Sindie! But you can use any transfer tape. This was the only one I had available to me at the time :)
Great work, perfect if your doing multiples of the same logo
Thank you so much! Cheers!
amazing video keep it up !
Thanks, will do!
I got it figured out. Sorry I’m very new to cricut. I’ve played with design space and made a lot of designs I’ve the past year but haven’t started using the cricut itself till a couple days ago
Im so glad you figured it out! Well done 👏👏
So cool. But I’m still completely lost. I really need to get more immersed with my Cricut. I definitely went overboard buying materials. Thanks again for the video.
You can do it! Take it one step at a time, and pause the video at whatever section you need to understand - re-watch sections a few times if you want to grasp it. Move at a pace you are comfortable with and you got this! There is no rush 💙
Very good tuto
Thank you so much!
That’s awesome
😍
Your the greatest! 😘
hehe thank you!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
This is/was a very thorough and easy to understand (in layman's terms - IDIOT PROOF) method for vinyl stickers! I'm in need of 75-100 for a fundraiser and this is how they'll be done! I'm now a fan!!
awww thanks so much! So glad it helped you
@@KellyRossouw everything went very well UNTIL it was time to peel the stickers off of the mat (I was using the mat you suggested) they cut nice but had a lot of sticking to the mat! Any tips?
Thank you so much.
You're welcome! I hope it helps!
AMAZING THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Glad you like it!
@@KellyRossouw LOVED IT.
Awesome thank you
You are so welcome!
Thanks!
No problem!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Nice 👍 Thanks 🙏🏾
You’re welcome 😊
bless your soul
Thank you so much 💚
Loved your video as I do all of them. I am wondering though, what did you need the orange sheet for?
Thank you! It is the second cut you make to cut through the transfer tape and backing sheet of the vinyl :)
Love this tutorial and just subscribed. Thanks so much. I'm trying to work out in my head how this would work for a layered decal. I'm guessing it would be the same procedure with extra cutting steps in between the original and the offset. Would love to see how you do it 😉
ooooh a challenge, I like a challenge ;) ill work on it and see if I can make a video about it :)
Excellent. I'll be watching. And waiting 🤞
Two attempts, two fails 😕 Never say die.
I tried a very basic one and it worked fine. I cut the layer on a different mat and applied it to the main decal before cutting the transfer paper. I was going to send you a pic, but I can't figure out how to do that in RUclips :( Thanks again for this awesome tutorial. It's going to be so useful.
Wow thanks
You are so welcome 😊
@@KellyRossouw i been looking on how to print multiples, and you hit two birds with one stone. Didnt know you can cut this way either
Thank you for sharing this video! Yours are by far the best on youtube. I am wanting to do some decals for a kayak / canoe. What type of vinyl do you think would work best. I have purchased oracle 210 a waterproof laminate that I’ve used for my sublimation stickers but just not sure if it’s necessary to do that way for a decal.
Thank you so much! Definitely waterproof or outdoor (651) vinyl. But be prepared to replace it sooner rather than later in any case, under harsh conditions not all vinyls will last forever! :)
How do you set your second page to cut in a different material setting? The only way I could do it was to cancel my cut and start over only cutting the second sheet. I seem to have missed this part in your video. Thank you for all you amazing help so far
I know you figured it out, but all you need to do is change the colour of the layer
Found this to be the best video tutorial on sticker making out there. At least for me. But, we need a new tutorial as there’s the new Create Sticker option in design space. I finally (after 1 year) am trying to do my logo stickers again, as I had given up. Hopefully the second half of steps are exactly the same. Though it might take some trial and error due to not knowing the difference between a Die Cut and a Kiss Cut. Actually, the new feature seems quite different. It looks good and easy on canvas but it would make it now a print then cut method I believe.
Well, thanks for this video 🙏🏼
You are so welcome! Yes the new create a sticker option is for print then cut only, so it wouldnt apply here at all to anything I have covered :)
Thanks for the reply. I’ll probably rewatch this video several times 😅. I’m pretty sure we have the transfer tape, but no printable vinyl yet.
Thanks
No problem!
Nice tutorial..
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for this video 🙂 What transfer tape did you use - the cricut brand transfer tape has lines and cricut branding on.
You are so welcome! Im not sure which I used, it didnt have a brand, you can use any transfer tape!
Legend
Thank you so much!
Amazing video! Did you change blades at all or did you use the fine point blade for both cuts?
Thabk you so much! Used the fine point blade for it all 🥰
Hello from a fellow Zagatarian and Silhouette crafter here, thanks for all your tips and tutorials, love your work! The custom chocolate tutorial was super helpful for making family Christmas gifts. A quick question, where did you buy those vinyl roll holders? I can't find those anywhere here in SA even after days of searching, I ended up designing and 3D printing my own as a last resort...
Thank you so much! I got them from Snippy Sisters
Great tutorial! I'm trying to make helmet decals for a local football team without having to go and buy a Gerber edge type machine I'm not sure if I'm ready to get into that type of quality just yet. Wanna see if I can create a decent quality decal with cricut and durable printable vinyl. Does grafitech have a thicker printable vinyl that is of good durability that I could try or any other company that you can think of?
Thank you! This tutorial isnt meant for printable vinyl, you are looking for a print then cut tutorial for a Cricut. This is purely for regular sticker vinyl that is a single solid colour only :)
Nice
Thank you!
Such a helpful tutorial thank you Kelly! I hope you have a solution for my dilemma! I am trying to make multiple laminated bag tags. The tag is a rectangular shape with rounded corners, with an image and name inserted, created in design space. I am using the print and cut method, once printed, I then laminate the whole page (laminated on both sides) and feed the printed laminated page back into my Maker to cut, this works perfectly, but ……… I would like to have a border of just the laminate around each bag tag so that it actually seals around the tag to make it more durable. I have not been able to find a hack or tutorial for this. The only other solution I can think of is to individually laminate each bag tag, which will be so time consuming. I hope this makes sense! I would love to be able to do all this on the Maker - perfect cut. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thank you!
You are so welcome! Ive been thinking about this for a while, and no immediate solution comes to mind unfortunately, but I will continue to think about it to see if I can think up a solution for you!
Thank you!
What is the best weatherproof, fade proof, washable vinyl sticker sheet brands to use with Cricut systems?
This is quite a complicated one to answer! The majority of the Cricut permanent vinyls work beautifully (the non "fancy" ones eg holographic, shimmer etc). For other brands look for the Outdoor label - those are the ones that are rated to last longer outdoors under the sun and weather etc.
great video- so how did the machine know to cut a perfect border around the text at the very end? were there certain settings that needed tweaked? it seems you just put it back in the machine with no adjustments- thank you
The offset layer is what does the last cut at the end. Nothing needed tweaking, I covered the entire process in the setup portion,
Woo! Thanks so much. Hopefully someone can answer my question:
Why not put the transfer tape sheet on before cutting all of it? Does doing it separately make a difference in the durability of the sticker or preventing light moisture from seeping in?
You will cut the transfer tape if you lay it on first, so you need ti first cut the vinyl, weed it, and then lay the transfer tape on top of that :)
When you added your sticker file was it already converted to an SVG file in Illustrator or some other program? Thank you this was immensely helpful.
It was designed by someone else, and I uploaded the transparent PNG into Cricut Design Space :)
Thanks so much for the tips!
You are so welcome!
This is the best tutorial ever. I just bought an air 2 today. A used one for 100 bucks to see how it works. I’ll follow this to design my stickers.
Ahh thank you so much!! Very high praise xx Enjoy your new machine!
Great Video!! Question: why is my offset cut not centered for cut #2? Images are aligned, machine is calibrated. Any suggestions?
Thank you! It could be a bug, but do you have both layers attached with the 29.2 cm box around it?
The offset-as-a-weeding-box tip alone was worth the price of admission. I've just been throwing a box around everything! Great tutorial!
Thanks so much 💚 🙏
I learned some things from your video, so thank you for making it. I feel confused about the vinyl you used though. I haven't made anything with an offset yet. Did you have two layers of vinyl on your mat? Or did you not cut all the way through on the first cut then cut through when cutting the offsets?
You are so welcome! It is just a one layer vinyl sticker. The white is the backing of the vinyl. The clear layer is transfer tape to move it off the backing, and onto where you want to place it
What was the transfer tape you were using in the video? The one linked in the description isn't the same it has the gridlines on it.
The exact one I use unfortunately isn't available internationally. The type of transfer tape doesn't matter too much!
cool
Thanks!
Can you print on any permenant vinyl? So they arent layed but more a less like any sticker youd get out of a rolls of kids stickers or something?
Want to clarify some terminology quick: printing means to use a printer to deposit ink onto a surface. A Cricut is not a printer, it is a cutter (plotter).
With that in mind, you can use this method to cut any kind of adhesive vinyl (permanent or removable).
If you want to print on printable vinyl (it must say printable otherwise it is not printable!), and you don't use transfer tape with it 😊
Hope that makes sense!
Thats so amazing i always wondered how that works
But i have a question what if you want a bigger vinyl sticker? Like a company logo and writings on the door of vehicle or on the side of van
These stickers are bumper stickers very small what if you need alot bigger?
This method is aimed at those wanting to make more smaller stickers. If you are doing a much larger sticker, you can still use this same method, but it will need to be slightly adapted so you would be able to do this same method for a sticker up to 60cm/24" long. If you want to do a longer sticker you would not be able to use this same method as you would be using smart vinyl/the matless method
@@KellyRossouw ok and thank you for this video
Will this work for glass etching stencils? The type where they look like a comic book character before all the color, Just lines and shading?😊
Unfortunately not, check out this video for the glass etching method: ruclips.net/video/7Zg4h4-gWVM/видео.html
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I haven’t seen stickers being done this way so thanks for such an informative video!
I just have one question (I think I’m being daft). So will the transfer tape be taken off after applying the decal (as you usually would) or does the transfer tape act almost like transparent vinyl, giving the decal a clear border? Does that make sense? Thank you so much! X
Thanks so much Fran! The transfer tape is just to move the decal from the backing to your surface, so it should be removed after being applied :)
Do you have a way to make it a clear border for less chance of the sticker peeling off piece by piece?@@KellyRossouw
@LetsGetClacking So, using this method, you reload the mat with transfer tape and already cut vinyl to cut the "orange" layer since the cricut doesn't see colors. And aligning and attaching them, as they are shown on that white box, keeps them in the right spot to cut both times? I've always seen that removing and then reloading the mat will make the cricut cut in a different spot than what it cut before. Please explain how it cuts exactly right.
As you are cutting the offset, it doesn't need to cut exactly right. It can be a little bit off, and wont matter 😊
This is certainly a great tutorial. I plan to watch more of your videos and subscribed to your channel. Every time I have tried to place transfer tape on my vinyl and ship to to someone, it leaves residue on the vinyl when they remove it. I am using Oracal 651 vinyl and Cricut transfer tape. Fortunately I have not sold any of these items, they were sent as gifts. But do you have suggestions?
Ive only ever heard of this problem while using Cricut Transfer tape, its expensive and leaves a residue sometimes. I prefer to use tape on a roll as it is much cheaper and easier to work with, like this one for example (as the one i use isnt on Amazon) amzn.to/42W6Qvz
Thank you. @@KellyRossouw
does it print white color? What kind of ink do you need? I don't understand
Hi! These machines aren't printers, they cut out the designs from coloured sticker vinyl 😊 so if you want a white sticker, you need to cut your design out of white sticker vinyl!
Hey I was just wondering what Vinyl material you said you used? thank you!
I used Cricut Permanent Vinyl and a normal Transfer tape (you can use any transfer tape)
You should do a tutorial for the design space app on phone
Thanks for the suggestion!
I making stickers using my cricket and this is a game changer you know how much time this will save me?????? What I did was put my decal, remove the whole sheet from the mat cut each one of them out and apply the transfer tape to each individual sticker. The just came out like rectangles 😅
Aaah im so glad to hear! yay for saving time!
What transfer tape do you use? Mine was not strong enough to use for a sticker
For standard vinyl I use standard transfer tape, for shimmer vinyl I use strong grip
Does it work for a car decal ? If not what would you recommend ?
Yes! These are decals for cars :) Just make sure to use Permanent/Outdoor vinyl when choosing vinyl for your car!
