I take magnesium or I will have very bad muscles cramps.
And obviously a lot of salty water.
I take vit D3K2 because here in Québec Canada we don't have a lot of sun time. And I work inside.
yeah. im just a bit south of you in minnesota and im convinced on d3k2. I feel better mentally with high dosages of d3.
just a hunch tho because i havent not taken it for long periods
@@Harry-Sachs I take 1000ui in summer and 2000ui in winter . Some people take more. But I heard it's a good quantity.
Québec too Shawinigan 👍🏼...very bad cramps after 6 months carni...i just think its really dificult to continue carnivore....the pain is tooo muchhhhh ... Salt 3scafe day magnésium...water salt magnesium potassium...4 liter Day.........
@@blueshadow3291 I take 200mg webber magnesium bisglycinate in the morning, with 1000ui D3 K2 Nakka
And Webber 150mg citrate magnesium in the evening with another 1000ui D3K2.
But the other secret is to take 1/8 c/c (the spoon) of iodized salt with every cup of water. At least 10-12 cup a day.
No bad cramps unless I sweat a lot in the day and not match the amount of salted water to compensate.
I agree with electrolytes, potassium,Magnesium & sodium. I noticed that if I don’t supplement these electrolytes, I have heart palpitations and muscle cramping. The only carb I eat is an occasional avocado for the potassium.
This is because you are not doing at least 1 large boles of protein a day to drive insuslin signaling to the kidneys to hold on to the proper, physiological homeostatic amount of electrolytes to run your central nervous system. Try eating 120+ grams of protein in at least 1 meal in a given day, and see if your electrolyte problem goes away. It might take adaption if you are not use to this 1 meal a day. And you are hitting 2 birds with one stone is you close the gap on your eating window, why? Because the longer of a fast you have day to day, fasting drives the adaption of hanging on to correct amount of electrolytes to maintain homeostasis.
Thank you! Was actually wondering about that today. Getting ready to start carnivore for the first time. Long time keto eater, but never did carnivore yet.
Goodluck! I've been on and off keto and slowly transitioning to ketovore! But I have a ton of supplements and I hate the idea of just tossing them so I will use them up first and just buy a few basic ones to make me feel secure.
how is it going?
I take Green Pastures Cod Liver Oil
i made this slow cooked pot roast today man it tasted good, eggs overeasy and baked bacon sounds good also
Your skin is looking good, younger !
I needed supplements for the first several years on carnivore. I tested low for B12, 0 Folate after the first year on meat only, low potassium to the point of needing an IV, and low C symptoms. I had crippling symptoms from vitamin deficiency. I may be an exception but Im certainly not alone. Now I take organs instead. I have head that eating overcooked meat may affect vitamin content. I started with gut issues that probably contributed also.
Do you cook your meat to well done? Beef doesn't usually need it, pork, chicken, and fish should be cooked to done though. Even lightly charred beef will lack most of the vitamins that were there before you cooked it.
@Cris Bowman Often, I do. I have heard that affects vitamin c content. I've known other carnivores who eat well done and don't have issues although that might have contributed for sure. Sometimes I have trouble eating meat and the only way I can get it down is well done. Maybe I should make raw beef pills. I have also known raw carnivores with chronic vitamin deficiencies. My issues eventually healed but it took many years on meat, butter, salt, and water.
@@elag.198 The key isn't the muscle itself, but the fat marbling. Even just once a week extra fat has more of the nutrients stored. I also find it helps me enjoy it, otherwise I have to cook it more.
@Cris Bowman I eat a lot of crispy fat. Yum.
@@elag.198 Crispy is usually tastier, or at least more palettable, but it means most of the heat sensitive nutrients were probably overcooked and are no longer available.
Thank you!
Feeling my best when I take Potassium and Panethetic Acid, Vit D and K, B12, before I work out. Then Magneesium before bed. I make sure I also take extra Collegen and Creatine as I had a very bad case of leaky gut before Carnivore which is still healing.
Why are you copying my supplement regimen? 😂😂 solid plan my friend.
What about supplementing iodine if you don’t eat seafood?
Nice Kitchen Doc ❤
Thanks Shawn good video. 👍🏽
Modern meat is still deficient in a lot of things our modern soils are, even grassfed. Basically all minerals, especially magnesium and copper, are depleted in our soils, although the animals do concentrate a lot of what is still there for you. I'd definitely supplement electrolytes and get your iron/copper/zinc/iodine etc. levels checked. Organ meats are a good source of a lot of these.
Thank you
On for a month and loving this diet. Supplementing was one of my concerns.
I need to take vitamin D3 and potassium because both of them tested low at the doctor and I was having issues after being on carnivore for a year. I think it might be different for everyone.
Wow I did carnivore for 2 months and had no energy. It was the lack of potassium for me.
@@Berserk1Mangayeah the lack of potassium also raised my blood pressure drastically. Added it back and problem basically solved.
I'd probably recommend magnesium, Vitamin D3, K2, and good old salt. For everyone, not just carnivore dieters.
Milk kefir has tons of magnesium, K2, some D3, and potassium…. You can get extra D3 from sun …
Very good 👍
I also take D3/K2, magnesium and methylated Bs in addition to carnivore/ketovore. I feel amazing!
Zinc as well
@@chucklombardo8167 IMO the meat, dairy and seafood you'll be eating has plenty of zinc. Other B vitamins like riboflavin and biotin are probably also recommended as they are required for metabolism of fatty acids and gluconeogenesis of glucogenic and ketogenic animo acids.
Very much appreciate you .I was wondering your take on methylene blue for brain health .Since my brain injury I seemed to need more protein also battling Lyme disease coinfections thank you for your channel
Research ALL the B vitamins ESPECIALLY THE B-4 (Choline, etc.) Also B-1 = see Elliott Overton about that!
I have a few playlists on certain vitamins & minerals...
Yay Air Force! My son is in and my dad is retired from it!
Vitamin D.
I take some desiccated liver or bull testicle every now and again. Most people going from SAD or vegan to carnivore are going to be deficient in a lot of key nutrients. Taking some liver supplements if you can't handle the taste for a few month's can help that transition.
I you can't have dairy, how are you supposed to get enough Boron?
I believe D3 is needed for about 8 or 9 months of the year in the northern areas of Canada... not enough sunshine to make enough .. also I personally add K2 for my own needs... keeps my blood tests in a good range..😎
Missing gallbladder means enzymes are needed, for me + vitamin D is required as I live far north with lots of stress
I take taurine for the antiaging effects
Vitamin d and magnesium
I watched a video about Borax (Boron supplement) video. I wonder what you view is, about that???
4.5 yrs carnivore, on last blood test, I am low on vitamine D, and Folic acid ,, I guess that would be B9,, John on B2,, I guess I should supplement? What would be healthy vitamins ?
B9 (Folic Acid), get it checked. It can get low-
Really? We are told we need 3,400mg of potassium every single day as a minimum. And nobody I know gets that. But plenty of online "experts" make claims about it. I think you might be right and the US RDA lists are BS.
Carnivorous for one year haven’t taken any supplements feel great good skin hair nails weight loss will never go back to “normal diet”
“Meat is complete”
Take the supplements that your own situation or lifestyle requires. The only supps i've been using for the past couple of years are taurine and a nutriceutical that promotes stem cell release.
I only really take supplements if I'm feeling under the weather, if I'm catching a "cold" 😏, or something like that. Otherwise I don't feel like I need them.
Vitamin d3?
I take adrenal cocktail (vit c, redmonds real salt, and potassium) and magnesium. Adrenal around 10 am and magnesium around 4
How much potassium a day? I’ve been using potassium chloride powder in water with salt and I just don’t want to overdo it.
None.
Is a calcium supplement necessary for a non-dairy carnivore diet?
But don't take calcium alone , take it with vitamin D3 and k2 and magnesium
Don’t take calcium supplements. There is science out there that’s showing it doesn’t metabolize correctly instead calcifies your arteries. Take K2 with fat to help your calcium levels.
Lots of calcium in canned salmon, sardines, bone broth, etc
I supplement with salt only now, I found that it stops calf cramps.
Hey are in in Luke AFB?
But waht about D3, and B12? Im living in EU, not that much sun here!
Supplement with additional MEAT
Potassium is probably the most important. Carnivore diet lacks that tremendously. Also magnesium and b vitamins, wouldn't hurt either.
I'm not sure. I can get about 1/3 of my daily potassium requirements from 1lb of ribeye. I would bet that I am getting more now than I did on SAD.
Iodine
There’s not much vitamin d in muscle meat though. If you live in a country where you don’t get sunshine like me (Ireland) how do you get vitamin d without supplements?
Vitamin C
My thyroid (TSH, tf3 and tf4) and testosterone are extremely low because of a crohns flare I'm still currently trying to heal from (plus I was on Prednisone for 6 months so that killed my thyroid and testosterone too). I have had depression and major hair loss over the past few weeks too so they want to put me on a dhea and thyroid synergy supplement. However, they are made from plants and plants actually increase my depression so I'm torn! I don't want to lose anymore hair, but I also don't want to worsen my depression. I've been on Carnivore since February. Any help you can offer I would greatly appreciate!
what about creatine?
I do vitamin D and told to take B12
Hey Shawn!
What do you think about mushrooms? 🤔
A cow can get everything it needs just by grass, meaning a cow can create itself and replace all of its cells a few times over in a lifetime, grass has everything in it to build a cow, which is crazy. So its not unreasonable to think Muscle meat can rebuild a human and give everything a human needs.
Maybe the cows are actually ordering beef organ supplements from New Zealand tho, we can't 100% prove they are not doing so.
A cow has four chambers and extracts a lot more nutrients. Cows make their own protein. Cows make their own vitamin c. Cows and humans aren't the same. Thinking that humans can synthesize everything they need, like a cow can, might get you sick or worse.
What kind of electrolytes do you take?
We are all deficence in something ;) that is why i start carnivore, but necesary for me is hcl and gallbladder that i even can start ;)
Thank u Shawn 💓 think I asked this yet I got lost n ur exercise injury...looked like eye make up 2me 😮😢😅7:28Pm8/16/2023
385 days, no scurvy or anything else. 😊 D3K2 and various nutraceuticals
As long as you take vitamin D and K2 separately...😊
What About glycine there is not enough in Muscle meat bone broth is good for it. You make yourself to but not enough !!it has shown to regulate methionine and in mice and rats Trials it is extended their life by up to 30% You can also reduce your diet of methionine and get the same result in trial But I think Methionine is important As it’s an essential amino acid just needs to be regulated with glycine so should be not just eating my Muscle meats And liver Need to really be eating the whole animal
A vegan friend recently sent me a link to an instagram video in which a vegan influencer says it is not possible to get vitamin b12 from meat. I couldn't care less what vegans say usually but I wanted to refer my friend to some sort of rebuttal. Do you know of any videos addressing this specific point? Thanks Shawn.
Vitamin c
Meat is totally complete!
Where's the vitamin c, folate and vitamin a?
Nice home, I build.
Don't forget liver!!! There's where you'll find your "C".
You don’t really need that much vitamin c it’s really only needed for those who consume carbohydrates check out dr Paul mason
I've heard beef spleen is the best Vitamin C source on carni
@@ArthurShelby-PB yeah, and B12 also! Thank you, I'll definitely remember that. They don't say nose to tail for nothing! Thanks again!
Potassium?
Diet carnivore, can i take suplemen R Alpha Lipoic Acid for neuropatik diabetic ?
is mushroom powder good on it?
Hi, do you have any guidance on how to get off of antihistamines? Claritin in particular. We moved to Florida in 2012, and the pollen ruined me. My dr. Told me to take one daily, so I have been ever since.
We moved back to Indiana in 2020 and while I’ve tried to stop taking them, both cold turkey AND stepping down, it’s proving more difficult than when I quit smoking.
I had to take antihistamines daily. Telfast 180mg.
I did a dry fast ( limited water 750-1000ml per day) for at least 3-7 days.
It reset my immune system, as it killed off all my weak blood cells and only the strong blood cells survived.
I drank black coffee and interstellar blend herbs as a supplement.
Where do you get your potassium from? 4700 mgs rda?
No you don't or you shouldn't need supplements. If you do then something is wrong. All the nutrition you need is in the salt, butter and meat.
Can you prove that?
I think I would do a multivitamin just to be on the safe side.
These are useless....
do vitamin injections or nutrition iv therapy so much easy than supplementing, supplementing is a sucky way to go you omly get partial of the vitamin cause it goes through stomach. Vitamin/mineral injections/ ivs last a long time and you get a hundred percent absorbtion through blood stream and optimal nutrition levels same day. Vitamin d injections can last up to 1-3 months and matters the dose. If you want to know what vitamins you need go to a holistic dr, they do very thorough nutrtion blood testing regular drs and providers wount do and dont do. Holistic drs and medical spas do iv nutrition therapy and nutrition injections. wayyyyyyyyy better then supplementing!
Bro you really need a Taylor to fit ur shirts.... just saying I wish I had that problem 😂
I think his shirts fit him Fine.
So fine.
You will be iodine deficient if you don't supplement.....Lugol's iodine, and sardines or mackerel for selenium.
i incorporate vitamin beer and sometimes gin & tonic.
What electrolytes do you take
Lmnt and Redmonds relyte are both amazing.
you can be deficient in d3 on carnovivore, carnivore does not fix all nutrition issues
*_Not needing Vitamin C is an odd one?_*
he has a video talking about how the body recycles vitamin C when low amounts are present.
my understanding that theres an abundance if C in all fresh food
To think that eating just meat or animal products can give u everything you need without supplements is absolutely ridiculous...😒
What did people do literally before any of these supplement companies came out?…or hundreds of years ago? Sure extra supplements definitely help, but I feel like it’s beyond necessary
Looks like Baker, Berry, Chaffee, Kelly Hogan, Dave Mac, Dante Ferrigno, Kerry Mann, Me, Steven&Steph, Lauren Spath, etc. are all pretty effing healthy.
🥩👍🧠💪🍳
I hear liver has all the vit you need.. help.. I hate liver
It's not necessary really. I have liver like once per week and if I go without it, I don't feel too different.
I have liver every now and then. I know it is a super food but I feel great as well when I don't have it.
I eat it raw with lots of salt and drops of lime. I like it better this way than seared.
Freeze it in small pieces and take it like a pill each day, you don’t need much.
Chicken liver isn’t as “livery” tasting.
And Cod Livers - I know it sounds gross- have nearly no taste at all. Honestly! I chop them up and to scrambled eggs.
Creatine
Just eat more meat 🤷♀️
I think this video is erroneous and Dr. Baker should either take it down or explain in detail how the daily dose of vitamins van be obtained from meat. Meat simply doesn't have all the vitamins needed by the human body.
He looks pretty healthy
Eggs and cheeese😢😮
Theres Africans that just eat baboons and theyre fine
How do you know they are fine
@@p123-o5h They say they are and smiling 😊
Love me some love handles…..
Why?
This is incorrect. The soil has been depleted of essential microorganisms that convert minerals into bioavailable nutrients the body can use. The reason for this is the massive monocropping and industrial agriculture. I recommend looking into a fulvic/humic humic supplement. This will help give you the trace minerals missing in soil.
bone broth has micro nutrients too ...for the thyroid , for example.
@ken adams No disrespect but this is also incorrect. If the soil is depleted it doesn't matter what is growing or grazing on it
It will also be depleted. This is why rotational grazing and regenerative agriculture is so important. It rebuilds soil health. Without soil health humanity is over.
Cold press juice is the best. Insane strength development among many other attributes.
A well kept secret, that most people don’t believe or don’t have the time, money, and/or knowledge to do.
Your welcome.
No juice on a carnivore diet...
Your following the wrong dude, mate
Juice =sugar
Nope.
