Carnivore food is slightly cheaper than SAD around 10-20% less. Meat and fat fills you up more than plant food and we stopped wasting food. Grocery shopping goes faster and not cooking sides make dinner easier to prepare. Eat lots of eggs, cheese, beef, and bacon. Use cream and lots of butter. I only eat once or twice a day now. No more soft drinks, sugar, or fast food. That saves a lot!
Just started Keto a month ago. I do a modified version of the diet, basically follow it to a T, Monday - Friday, then take the weekends off (my buddy said it's basically a form of carb cycling that I'm doing, along with Keto). Steak & Eggs is my dinner of choice every night! And I found that I also save a considerable amount of money on my grocery bill. Was shocked that he mentioned MCT oil was a waste of money, because I mix that in my morning black coffee and I feel it gives me more energy for my morning workouts.
That's fantastic. Would you know what cod liver supplement Berry is talking about? The link goes to cans and not pills as he says in this video. Thank you very much
@@lukemendoza4263 It does give an energy boost, so if the cost is worth it to you then keep it up! If you're intermittent fasting (even by accident!) though it breaks a fast. You may want to try dropping it for a bit and see if you benefit more from a longer fast and ketosis/autophagy.
I’ve been watching your videos for the last month. I’ve been working out for over a year with very little results. I started “keto” just before New Years to change it up but I did very little research and was really just cutting out carbs. Once I started watching your videos and getting more info on the correct way to do it, it changed everything. I’m now down 30 lbs and I can’t sit still. Good luck to you brother. I’m 76, started a modified carnivore diet 3.75 years ago and has changed my life for the better. I have the same weight as when I was in HS, plus a lot more muscle. All that flappy skin from loving weight will suck up a lot over two years and be tight at 3 years. I’m off ALL RX’s. Dang, was I eating a lot of RX’s. Remember. No Sugar! It is dangerous on carnivore b/c triglycerides go way up (150) but are way down (50-60) with NO SUGAR( not even 7:16 carrots, etc)
Good information! I have been on carnivore (except for occasional mushrooms and avocados) since the beginning of the year. I had worried about if I was getting enough vitamin C. Thanks for setting me straight.
Thanks for all your generous information. I might quibble with you on Vitamin C. I'm sure you are correct on the lack of need for scurvy. However, I think the immunological benefits make it worthwhile
The good doctor is WAY wrong on the Vitamin C. He needs to read Dr. Levy's book about the primary cause of heart attacks world wide. They start with inflammation, usually in the mouth, which proceeds to suck up all the available Vitamin C in the body and results in localized scurvy taking up residence first at the first junction of the aorta. Presto, heart attack about to happen. So millions of lives could be saved each year by an increase in people mega dosing in vitamin C. Read the book, "Curing the Incurable" ps, Dr Levy is not only an MD but an attorney as well.
I love liver. It’s close to a brownie! I get a pound of young beef liver at the local butcher’s and eat a quarter pound as part of a meal. I cut it with kitchen shears into 2-inch-square pieces. Fry in butter, takes about 3 minutes. Add salt. Delicious.
After going keto for 2 months I decided to try cutting back on my fish oil supplement. 4 x 1200 mg tablets went down to 3 then 2 then 1 then none over a period of about a month with no I'll effects at all. We don't call whole foods a supplement, our physiology can handle both (meat & veg) so there needs not be a war about it, wide variety in moderation, the goal is balanced nutrition not to argue what is the absolute best, as many people in other countries do not have the luxury of choice as in Western Countries.

I'm not sure if organic liver is available at the supermarket, that would depend on where you shop for it. Thanks Dr Berry. Your videos have always been most helpful to me. On keto I have also been eschewing salt. While I lost dozens of pounds - and have kept the pounds off, I think this avoiding salt interfered with my absorption of electrolytes and I now have arrhythmia. I'm adding heavy cream, d-rybose powder and a teaspoon of cocoa powder to my daily coffee. I'm now carnivore and eat liver and sardines at least once a week. Lots of soft eggs, fish (all kinds) and meat. My dog is on the same diet We're both doing fine.
Folic Acid, more than "Minimum Daily Requirement", when you see a benefit with your eyes, you MAY see a difference for your heart, too. I did, but it isn't govt. approved to recommend more. I heard it on a live broadcast by 2 Premier heart specialists, in 2000 but have not been able to find another source I can use for my recommendations.
My wife has serious bone loss and the daily calcium has improved her bone density. I have diverticulosis, and have been hospitalized twice for diverticulitis. The ketogenic diet has caused severe abdominal pain and constipation for me. Without a fiber supplement and daily, high quality, probiotic (including a nightly Saccharomyces Boulardii), I would be in serious trouble, and would be unable to eat like this. Can't agree with much of this video, and that is the first time, I think, I've ever said that about Dr. Berry.
Probiotics are extremely helpful for most people. They are not essential, but still.. extremely helpful. Can be taken in the form of fermented foods, of course
Another funny thing is, that minerals everybody recommends like iodine, selenium and zink, are so easy to get if you eat fish, meat and eggs. But people who love plant based diets like to let everyone know that these minerals are hard to get, and we need to supplement.
Thanks so much for this list!! Extremely helpful. Now that I am 2 wks into a carnivore way of eating I have stopped all my vitamins except for electrolytes. I wish I had understood the carnivore diet earlier, when I got out of the hospital. I have made all the mistakes in supplements listed on this video.
Being on a fixed income, I was concerned for a while that I couldn't afford carnivore. However, I started to see that I could stop buying supplements, and put that money into good quality meats. Thanks for this video, it confirms some of the things I was thinking of dropping. I'm going to keep a silica supplement, though. I think that's a mineral that our ancestors got from their drinking water, but we filter it all out now. And it's a cheap one, so I can afford that without upsetting the grocery budget.
The money I used to spend on take away and constant feeding pre-keto & pre-intermittent fasting has been more than enough to buy quality beef, fish, shellfish, vegetables and dairy. Happy to see I’m not taking any of the supplements on the list. Thanks for the info Dr Ken ✌️🇦🇺
Most research shows supplements increase all cause mortality whenever a RCT is done vs observational data. Key is to know if you are deficient in something and take only that. Of course the metrics of deficiency are often way off. I still take a few supplememts fairly regularly Vit D ~ 5000IU Vit k2 as mk7 ~ 300mcg Magnesium in a time release form. I occasionally take methylated folate due to family history of low folate, and being a single carrier of a MTHFR gene variant. I'm lowish carb diet and daily fasting with 16-20hrs, but not strict ketogenic or carnivore.
I gave up the Fish oil a month ago after i found out it can cause nose bleeds and sure enough they have stopped..! in my research i also found that fish oil is not stable enough to be capped as it goes off in the processing. So a good call Dr Berry.
I'm doing keto not for weight loss but for brain health, and MCT oil is beneficial, per Dr. David Perlmutter and Dr. Dale Bredesen (I have a strong family history for Alzheimer's - I'm doing all I can to prevent it!).
I think we will find in the future that the increase of Dementia in the last couple of decades will be linked to Statins and other cholesterol lowering drugs
Hi Dr. Berry. I am new to your site and am really excited to find your honest, clear and easy to understand keto as I just started my journey on keto. I watched your video from back in 2017 which you referred to some of the supplements back then that now you say don’t take. Is it possible for you to share what supplements we should be taking on a full keto way of life. Thank you for what you do. I really enjoy your site and your honesty.
Hi Dr. B I have given up leafy greens/ and most vegetables because of the OXALATES and lectins etc. I am most Carnivore with only a couple veg like cucumbers , olives and some lettuce. That’s it. All that OXALATES stuff was pretty scary. Do you support that information?
If you have a excess of iron problem, those oxalates are pretty usefull, they bind with iron so you dont absorb. Its not a poison. Same with nuts. We are not all similar, some cant have a full carnivore diet. Happened to me, because i have gallstones, so the meat sit inside me for much longer because slower digestion, thus, i absorved more iron than i should. A normal keto diet seems to be a lesser evil to me, until i get bile salts pills. Then i will be regular and i think i will be able to choose any diet i want, but carnivore without oxalates is not good for me.
@Susie they do, unfortunally, i tried make ghee from rancid butter and did not work out. I think you need to wash the butter with some cleaning chemical to remove the rancid, very dangerous. But its possible.
@@polentusmax6100 The huge jar of ghee is going really fast. It says to only use it for a year after opening. Avocado Oil I think I have 2 years on. Avocado Oil I haven't used as much. I like the taste when cooking with Ghee.
😱MCT oil makes me happy. I love being happy, my mental health is extremely important to me. So I will continue to add mct to my salad as a dressing. I also dont have a gallbladder. The body doesnt need added bile to process mct oil. I find MCT oil beneficial for ME. It maybe totally useless for any other bugger. Thats the thing about nutritional health. Its a very individual thing. The only supplement I still take is 'cod liver oil'. But Ive been thinking of not replacing it once it runs out. I already gave up vit C and collogen because I eat alot more meat now. Cheers Dr Berry👍
Doctor, on vitamin C, I found the best mixer for ACV to be a fresh-squeezed lemon and a stevia packet, with some water. Tastes great (as opposed to ACV alone) and a good dose of natural vitamin C.
David, watch Dr Berg’s video on eating the whole lemon … the pith and the skin contain most of the Vitamin C. He says the juice actually contains very little. He suggests cutting up the lemon, tossing in blender with 1 cup water. U can add stevia drops, add some blueberries - I do raspberries and blend it up into a drink. It takes awhile to get used to the idea of eating whole lemon but it’s refreshing drink and covers entire daily C needs. I would think u could also add apple cider vinegar into this mix though I get my apple cider vinegar by using it with olive oil for salad dressing.
I discovered Dr Berry's channel a month ago. I have been obsessed ever since. Listening to the valuable content has inspired me to eat more healthy as in dramatically decreasing sugar and carbs!
I haven't seen anything that indicates an actual measurable benefit to a medium chain triglyceride supplement on a carnivore diet. I suppose there is some plant based keto variation that needs extra stuff, but I can't find anything about the days being inadequate on that, either
Though I agree with most points, I find some misleading or oversimplified at best. For example: good fatty fish is hard to come by. High-quality omega 3 supplements are often more practical than fish.
While it's true that many supplements on the market are not in the right form, it's nevertheless possible to find good supplements for many things. Sure, if we were hunter-gatherers from stable populations, living in pristine wilderness, most of us wouldn't need them.
I have to disagree with a couple of these. One being the probiotic. Absolute game changer for me. The difference I felt when I finally started on a daily probiotic was life changing. Second, the MCT Oil. I use it in coffee, on salads and smoothies and it is the best appetite suppressant for me. He should have prefaced this video by saying not everybody needs these but some do.
I agree with you about the MCT! It helps me a lot to suppress my appetite. However, as a probiotic I have been using milk Kefir, and it is fantastic and tasty
Dr Berry said if you are doing Keto and carnivore RIGHT, you don’t need these supplements. If you’re eating all these carbs with salads and smoothies and fiber, you are NOT doing the diet he is talking about. I can’t believe how many people commenting here are not doing carnivore or meat heavy Keto and still complaining “but my supplements helped me!” Well, you aren’t on a carnivore or a meat heavy Keto diet, so this video has nothing to do with your context or situation. You need your supplements because you don’t have the proper diet. It’s that simple.
@@Brenday68 I eat plenty of liver and sauerkraut so I'm sure my C is okay. Nevertheless, I don't believe the little bit extra I take in the crystalline form will harm need. Water soluble so any excess will be excreted.

Good video, Dr. Berry. Very informative. The only thing I take on your list is MCT oil. There is plenty of research that suggests it is very beneficial for brain health. But, you are correct. It is NOT essential if you do keto or carnivore correctly. Keto/carnivore for over 2 years now. at 65 I am VERY healthy with no metabolic health problems.
I'd assume that once one is fully fat-adapted, there is no further brain benefit possible from MCT oil because the body will make and use ketones efficiently. Unless, of course, there are other benefits I'm unaware of.
I believe you when you say that for most, MCT oil is a waste of money. However, I have battled PTSD and anxiety for decades. Keto has helped immensely but when I am going through high stress, adding a little MCT oil has helped reduce anxiety.

Yes, thank God for changing what he led you to. He is a moody son of gun, after all.
Typo,,,, loving = loosing
I supplement with fat. You are saving me a whole lot of money.
Thank u so much. Awesome info. I shared it with 3 people
I love liver. It’s close to a brownie! I get a pound of young beef liver at the local butcher’s and eat a quarter pound as part of a meal. I cut it with kitchen shears into 2-inch-square pieces. Fry in butter, takes about 3 minutes. Add salt. Delicious.
Bundle of thanks 🎉
After going keto for 2 months I decided to try cutting back on my fish oil supplement. 4 x 1200 mg tablets went down to 3 then 2 then 1 then none over a period of about a month with no I'll effects at all.
Hi Dr. B
I have given up leafy greens/ and most vegetables because of the OXALATES and lectins etc.
Thank you so very much!

Nice content. Good tip on the MCT oil. As expensive as Avocado Oil is, it is much cheaper than MCT oil, and a great healthy oil/fat.

I love following your protocol. Plain and simple. 👍
MCT oil is healing for the brain and liver, so I will continue to use it as I need both.
I haven't seen anything that indicates an actual measurable benefit to a medium chain triglyceride supplement on a carnivore diet. I suppose there is some plant based keto variation that needs extra stuff, but I can't find anything about the days being inadequate on that, either
Great video, great work!
Though I agree with most points, I find some misleading or oversimplified at best. For example: good fatty fish is hard to come by. High-quality omega 3 supplements are often more practical than fish.
And Doctor Berry himself talks about the benefits of iodine supplementation in another video.
While it's true that many supplements on the market are not in the right form, it's nevertheless possible to find good supplements for many things. Sure, if we were hunter-gatherers from stable populations, living in pristine wilderness, most of us wouldn't need them.
Great information. Now do one about the 10 best vitamins to take on KETO
Nobody ever needs a calcium supplement which can do harm the rest maybe maybe not like you said.
But you're eating veggies. He's talking about keto and carnivore., right?
Just eat greek yogurt for probiotics and for fats eat butter and bacon.
I know this an older video, but you have saved me a lot of money on supplements, that I thought I needed on carnivore! Thanks 🥰🥰🥰

Hi Dr. I’m 66 years young and have a hiatal hernia. It’s been bothering me lately. Can you pls talk about that. I love your info!!! Keep safe!
I agree with you!
I say MCT oil is beneficial for people that are transitioning from SAD to Keto or Carnivore. That and, whenever a person have meal, or drink.
