911 is for emergencies. Someone recording you in public isn't an emergency. Nor is it illegal. That operator should have explained that instead of sending the cops. Only made things worse and wasted resources.
From what I've seen of these "first amendment auditor" types, many of them try to provoke other people deliberately. So the caller, who sounded like he had a foreign accent, might have assumed that he was being harassed because of his ethnicity or national origin. Rightly or wrongly, he probably called the police because he felt like he was being threatened. And there could be cultural differences in the society where the caller was raised, that added to his perception of a potential threat. The dispatcher has to assume that the caller is contacting the police department due to legitimate fear for his safety, and has no choice but to send officers out.
@@bobthetitanic -- Filming other people isn't the problem. Verbally harassing people while you film is a different situation. Some of these auditor guys try to purposely stir stuff up so they can get views on the Internet. The foreign man who was being filmed probably didn't know what to think, because he's probably not familiar with something like that. I'm guessing that's why he called 911. Somebody who lived their entire life here in the United States, and is familiar with these auditor types, would've just ignored them.
If you are continuously harassed by a group of men of unknown intentions or capabilities who keep screaming abuse at you - which is a fair assumption about First Amendment Auditors - I can totally understand that you would feel threatened and call for help. This is precisely what these people want: Make you feel threatened, make you feel attacked, but still being barely within the confines of the law. They want to provoke a reaction so that they can then pretend to be the victim. I have seen First Amendment Auditors follow people, yell at them, insult them... these are not pleasant people. The sergeant definitely overreacted, but it is very understandable that this hostile behaviour would result in a hostile reaction.
@@bobthetitanic Yes. Do you believe that, just because you are free to do something, that will not have any impact on other people? You are free to yell at people or insult them, but don't be surprised if they react to your provocations.

That cop is obviously unfit to wield any sort of power. But let's just stop for a second and think about the sheer awesomeness of the sentence, "He done proved how stupid he is." 😅😂
If the cops came up, and just watched them without making contact, and then seeing that they are not breaking the law, told them we got a call, investigated and have determined, no crime has been committed, so have a nice day. That would go far in showing that they obey the law. It isn't that hard.
They were actually harassing the cop driving down the road. That was why he was in street clothes, he was off duty- he put his vest on for protection. He should not have confronted them himself, he should have called the station and made a report and had on duty officers handle it. As a regular citizen, I would have been terrified by their behavior and called the police. They pulled over once they knew they had pushed the cop to his limit so they could film it all, get arrested, possibly get injured and get a nice lawsuit payday. They are looking to see that our government, public servants know how to protect people’s Constitutionally protected civil rights even when they may not like or agree with what they are doing. Filming in public and bad-mouthing cops is protected by the First Amendment and the cops illegally “seized” IDs by running the license plate, which may be considered a violation of the Fourth Amendment since they weren’t doing anything illegal.
Perhaps I can help you understand? Cops have become an occupational force in our Country. Take an Objective look at them. They think it is US against them.....NOTE our Country has more citizens locked up than China or Russia...How can that be???? they have twice the population of our Country???? Cops are far out of control. Desire to handcuff and jail any person that disagrees with them.....they must follow the law as written. Cops cannot do as they please....auditors have opened the door for citizens to see their behaviors.....they need transparency and to be held accountable for poor behavior. Auditors are bringing this to light. How else will it be exposed? Cops, Courts, Legislatures?????? have all failed. Auditors are the only hope for change...and maintain freedom...
The cops often breach their scope of work and authority. They infringe citizens rights based on their discretion which is often skewed. They often are highly ill informed on the laws, statutes, ordinances but are happy to change someone's life by arresting them based on their lacking knowledge. And I love the one Officer, blaming their phones for blowing up on the auditors. Why don’t you put the blame officer, on your fellow officer, who ratcheted the whole thing up. You guys never look at yourselves and think you’re the cause of the problem. If that officer had not gone off on a tirade, if he had kept his cool and de-escalated the situation, like he’s trained to do, your phones wouldn’t be ringing off the hook. It amazes me that the police can never look at themselves as being the problem. It’s always somebody else’s fault.

NO need to wonder...for decades they have been abusing their authority and citizens....time it stops!
