It seems to me like the dashcam was only brought up because the officer was immediately fed up with Ganter's bullshit and wanted to cut through it, rather than some sort of heads-up. Short sighted, sure, but I wouldn't say corrupt.
Even scarier, he works with adolescents, a developmental stage well noted for their normal and healthy need to push boundaries. Not doing any boundary testing is actually a sign of something wrong and should be investigated to make sure that kid isn't covering up some sort of horrible secret.
1st he denied hitting him, then he claims he was provoked by the finger, then he downplayed the power of the punch. The guy should sue the City and department because he used his badge in road rage.
The investigating cops did Gantry a huge favor in telling him about the video and describing what it showed BEFORE Gantry had a chance to further incriminate himself by providing false information and obstruction. The cop should not release any details about a dash cam, to suspect. Let him make his statement and then charge him with false report on top of assault.
I agree he should have, but feel it was more poor training than malice, and that he only brought up the dashcam because he was immediately fed up with the suspect's bullshit and wanted to cut through it. it is easy to say when you have a feed of interesting videos on particularly pecuiliar events, no one reports the times where the justice system does work because it's not as interesting, what is more interesting is what is usually the exception in society, not the rule, particularly exciting stories entail themes of violence, corruption, and genuinely bizzare situations. when you look at all of this on a daily basis in a constant feed, of course your view on the world looking back is going to be negative, because you're watching videos that cover particularly interesting scenarios, and your idea is that this is the norm, not the exception.

Did anyone notice the BEAUTIFUL, PROTECTIVE INSTINCT of that dog. And it knew almost instantly when the off duty officer became a threat.
WOW! 🧡 🐕🧡
Big dogs are the BEST. Danes, mastiffs, malamutes and newfies. I used to work at a vet clinic and they are the most wonderful dogs.
That was the first thing I noticed, such a good dog!

Last place he should be is "protecting" children.

An SRO “job” is a “DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING” assignment.

"wasn't a hard punch" no matter how hard you punch, assault is still an assault.
Well, over 700 000 people now knows his face.
Forget the assault part it's more of a humiliation tactic that makes it worse in my book. When you hit someone who knows can't hit you back or is afraid too
With how eagerly we’ve seen some cops in these body cam vids throw in extra charges for battery on a LEO and resisting with violence, for spitting or talking wetly, not immediately letting their arms go limp for cuffs, etc, the idea of “not that hard of a punch” is comical.
Only the person who was punched would know how hard it truly was.
SUSPENDED?!?!?!?
Why does this person still have a job!!?!? And how many times has he done far worse but not been caught?!??? He has ZERO integrity and ZERO reason to be allowed to maintain his employment. If they do not fire him the city needs to remove the police chief and the district attorney immediately!!!!!
That cop lied so easily. How many others have been wronged by this out of control thug. He belongs in jail. Definitely he should not be in law enforcement.
As a parent I’d be petitioning to have him removed from my children’s school.
….he was
In the video, it is stated he was removed from his SRO position.
He was removed but sadly is still a police officer
that's like the first thing it said
If you listen towards the end of this vid you will hear what happened to him
So nice of the officer warning the criminal that the crime is in video AND letting him make phone calls instead of arresting him.
Seemed more like poor training and genuine confusion rather than malice or corruption honestly, especially since they weren't shy in expressing their negative opinions on Ganter. It seems to me like the dashcam was only brought up because the officer was immediately fed up with Ganter's bullshit and wanted to cut through it, rather than some sort of heads-up. Short sighted, sure, but I wouldn't say corrupt.
Noticed that too. Warned him before he gave a statement that his action was caught on tape so that he wouldn't perjure himself.

This lunatic works as a school resource officer?! HE WORKS AROUNDS CHILDREN?! Are you serious?
It looks like he's been taking pointers on how to behave from those same children.
Power-tripping sadistic tyrants like him just love working with kids, or other humans who can't fight back, like the elderly.
Even scarier, he works with adolescents, a developmental stage well noted for their normal and healthy need to push boundaries. Not doing any boundary testing is actually a sign of something wrong and should be investigated to make sure that kid isn't covering up some sort of horrible secret.
Remembering the adults who were in charge at my school, this surprises me least of all.
He's been around children enough to act like one, I guess.
That guy should never be a cop. He would have lied through his teeth if there was no video of the incident. Period.
This "officer" shouldn't be allowed near a badge ever again, let alone a school.
A cop flies off the handle and is violent?! Coal is black, the sky is blue, and his wife is both.
1st he denied hitting him, then he claims he was provoked by the finger, then he downplayed the power of the punch. The guy should sue the City and department because he used his badge in road rage.
Technically they should sue the school.
The dashcam footage shows that Gantrr raised his hand to 'flip off' Brocuglio in his rearview mirror -- first!
The investigating cops did Gantry a huge favor in telling him about the video and describing what it showed BEFORE Gantry had a chance to further incriminate himself by providing false information and obstruction. This was an incompetent investigative practice and would be contrary to training (if they weren't investigating a fellow cop.) Fortunately there are consequences and limits to how far the thin blue line extends when putting their own jobs on the line.
