@@spoondirtmeow“obviously” worrying about people kidnapping children and worrying about pedophiles being near children should be the LAST thing I think about? And it’s CONCERNING that I’m thinking about children’s safety and that anyone at any time could compromise that safety? Sure if someone’s job had nothing to do with kids ofc they’re not gonna worry about creeps being inappropriate towards children but if your literal job is to teach and care for children and protect them from harm this should be one of the first things on your mind especially after watching this video and seeing how daring there’s people are doing this shit in broad daylight. You can be abducted literally anywhere even in front of your parents. I cannot believe you would say that this is the last thing a childcare worker should think about when it’s obvious from this video that the child was only able to get out of this alright BECAUSE of the staff in the school being aware about this kind of thing and always being on a look out for suspiciousness. I’m insinuating that this woman war previously oblivious to the world and that if she couldn’t understand why parents wouldn’t want to post pictures of their children for the world to see that maybe she needs to re-educate herself on the harsh realities of the outside world🤷‍♀️

If it's not illegal to misrepresent yourself as a child's guardian, it absolutely should be.
Edit: Because people keep mentioning it. Yes, attempted kidnapping is a crime. However, you have to prove that they were attempting to remove the child from the location. Currently, it would seem that lying about being the child's parent/guardian is not considered enough proof of intent. It's this that I feel needs to change. Either it should be considered evidence of attempted kidnapping, or it should just be straight-up illegal. I understand that in most cases, lies of identity are protected under free speech. However, I think there is good cause to argue that certain, very specific lies are not allowed. For example, you can't lie to a police officer about your identity when they tell you to identify yourself during an investigation. Perhaps we could at least make it illegal to lie to a school/daycare/hospital worker, etc. about your guardianship of a child under their care. They are required to surrender a child to their guardian, so lying about this to one of these specific people should be considered an attempt to gain control of the minor.

All while operating in on the confines of the law to keep things admissable in court later so he doesn't walk. If those parents assault him he becomes a victim and they will lose the golden opportunity to interrogate him which would likely mean he'd have gotten over. Massive kudos to those officers doing that and keeping their own anger in check cuz it's not easy. Even more so after the guy attempted to assault him it is really hard to not want to do more than just place them on the ground. Because if they did and let their anger out on him they would end up in handcuffs later on and potentially lose your job amongst civil rights lawsuits from people who don't understand what's going on. Any experienced cop will tell people that it doesn't matter what they know. What matters is what they can prove. That's why they need warrants or probable cause. And if an investigation shows reasonable doubt after an arrest, they'll be forced to let the suspect go and drop the charges against them. This is why many murder cases have gone unsolved or ended up being ruled as suicides.
