Hey girl! You need to read Every Day by David Leviathan: “It would be too easy to say that I feel invisible. Instead, I feel painfully visible, and entirely ignored.”
One of my favorites comes from Vicious: “The paper called Eli a hero. The word made Victor laugh. Not just because it was absurd, but because it posed a question. If Eli was really a hero, and Victor meant to stop him, did that make him a villain? He took a long sip of his drink, tipped his head back against the couch, and decided he could live with that."
a few (long) quotes: “It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try and readjust the way you thought of things.” -Lemony Snicker, Horseradish "Fairytales are more than true, not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." -Neil Gaiman, Coraline “But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again" -C.S. Lewis, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe (in the dedication) "And only as you gasp your dying breath will you look back and realize that your life amounted to nothing more than a single drop in a limitless ocean. Yet what is any ocean but a multitude of drops?" -David Mitchell, The Cloud Atlas
+Rachel Beaton “But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again" -C.S. Lewis, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. This turned out to be true.
"Don't ask for guarantees. And don't look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were heading for shore." - *Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451*
I love the quote "Things never happen the way you imagine they will, but than again, if you don't imagine, things never happen at all" from Paper towns by John Green
I'm late but this is one of my favorites: "A nice thought: One was a book thief. The other stole the sky." The Book Thief by Markus Zusak . I just love it, because it is such a nice thought and it's perfect and I love it!
Love all of these! I really love this Oscar Wilde quote at the beginning of The Night Circus: "A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world."
"There is some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for." -The Two Towers. I love this quote because there is some good in this world and in the time we are living in, right now it is hard to find. Books have a special way of showing us what is truly good and it helps us as readers understand that even though there is more hate, love is stronger.
"Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are." I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak "My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations." The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I have to say that one of my favorites comes from Wuthering Heights. "Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." Generally, that books is extremely quotable. Also, The Perks of Being a Wallflower... that whole book is a great quote.
i love that quote from Wuthering Heights too! Also, “ If all else perished and he remained, i should still continue to be. But if all else remained and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger."
AH you picked so many good ones. I JUST...i love quotes and can't wait to see more of these from you. I have to share this one with you as well! i know i know i gotta stop quoting this book XD “Sometimes when we say things, we hear silence. Or only echoes. Like screaming from inside. And that’s really lonely. But that only happens when we weren’t really listening. It means we weren’t ready to listen yet. Because every time we speak, there is a voice. There is the world that answers back.” - Love Letters to the Dead
Please do another one of these. "Beauty is an enormous, unmerited gift given randomly, stupidly." -Khaled Hosseini, And the Mountains Echoed "If people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane. -John Green, Looking for Alaska "Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same" Emily Bronte, The Wuthering Heights
"People accept the love they think they deserve" Stephen C. The Perks of being a Wallflower. I think this quote can be good or bad depending on the person. And I love The Book thief! I need to read all of these books
''We accept the love we think we deserve'' from Perks of Being a Wallflower 'Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.'' (The first time I cried from a book) ''You think fairy tales are only for girls?'' (It goes on - Dash & Lily's book of dares) ''The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.” (And all the other quotes about the Labyrinth - Looking for Alaska)
I am obsessed with book quotes! Love this idea!! Make sure and make some more of these videos. "As always, one of her books was next to her." The Book Thief "Male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy all those things matter less than what you heart contains. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp. But you are the light inside." - Jem Carstairs, Infernal Device " A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads only lives one." - Jojen Reed, A Dance With Dragons
That Grapes of Wrath quote is absolutely perfect - short, sweet and to the point! :) Also Mafi is a word genius, her quote is one of my favourites as well! Great video Regan, looking forward to more like these!
My favourite book (which has been for some time, but will likely change in the future, they always seem to) is The Fault In Our Stars (seems like a cliche, but I read it a long time ago and only recently re-read). And my favourite quote from it is one that I think a lot of people look over, but really touched me, and thats when Gus tells Hazel, "You used to call me Augustus." I feel it perfectly encapsulates the whole concept and feel of the book as a whole, and I feel like sometimes people get too caught up on the fancy quotes with their fancy words and forget the ones that just hit home hard....
This video was great! I definitely liked hearing about your favourite quotes. Whenever I think of quotes from books I always immediately think of "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt." - Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five, that book is just so good. I really need to read more Hemingway and Steinbeck because I have not read For Whom the Bell Tolls or The Grapes of Wrath yet.
I love quotes in general so this video was already great before i even saw it but the quotes you picked were absolutely beautiful ! Pleas do more of those videos its such a good idea :)
Oh my God you have the best taste in books! I rarely come across booktubers who read such diverse genres and have such a strong and different opinion on what makes a good book and such. I read Brave New World this year for school and although I don't think I'll read it again from start to finish, the chapters in which John talks with Mond were just mind blowing to me. I think Brave New World is an utopia though. Our teacher made us read a few essays about it before reading it so we can understand the depth of the story so I came across an essay written by Aldous Huxley about Brave New World and he describes his book as an utopia
Yes, please do make more of this! I love quotes and I really enjoyed this video. I keep a collection of my favourite quotes in a note book because I just want to hold on to them forever, and I'm not sure why, I just don't want to forget about them or something?
I'm reading Brave New World right now in my college literature class and its amazing and I love having discussions about it, it makes it all the more better!! I love this video, thank you for sharing :)
wonderful quotes, even though I didn't know them (only some of the books you took them from). I for one would ADORE it if you made more of these videos :D
Quotes are so personal! I literally got goose bumps when you read yours out loud. And the Ignite Me quote has me reconsidering trying to read Shatter me again. . . I had SO MANY problems with the first one. Maybe I'll try again. I never finished reading Jane Eyre, but it sounds like SUCH A GOOD CLASSIC. It's been sitting on my bookshelf since I tried reading it for my English class and I just need to pick it up again.
the amount of incredible quotes from the book thief are insane, one of the most memorable for me was "the reply floated from his mouth, then moulded itself like a stain to the ceiling" like oh my lord.
Some amazing quotes! Looking forward to hearing more from you. One of my personal favorites is from The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle: "Great heroes need great sorrows and burdens, or half their greatness goes unnoticed. It is all part of the fairy tale."
I love this tag! One of my favorite quotes that I live by is "It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live." Dumbledore said this to Harry in the Sorcerer's Stone. I have it decaled on my wall :)
I just love your quotes, they are so beautiful. The one from the Illiad, omg,I so loved that book. But I also loved the other quotes and some of the other books you quoted and yeah. Just saying,*once again*,there are some really cool quotes in TFIOS,haha.
"You lost, but you're too stupid to see that! You sacrificed yourself for nothing! You turned heroic! Don't you get it Jack? What needs to happen for you to understand that YOU ARE NOT THE HERO IN THIS STORY!" -Twice Upon a Time by James Riley. I just love this quote, it's a huge turning point in my opinion.
AH! I love Jane Eyre so so much. Definitely in my top ten books. So many great things and quotes in that book. And that is a wonderful one. This is a great idea! I need to do this soon.
Regan! You should make more of these videos! It's not my favorite quote because I could never pick one. But right now I really like: "For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo."

Oh, wow! I loved this whole list (even though I haven't read all these books). Yes, about "The Book Thief" being full of quotable lines. "I am haunted by humans" gets me every time. Also that "The Illiad" line is gorgeous.
The book quote that has probably shook me up the most (if not necessarily being by favorite) is this one from The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson (a brilliant sci-fi book everyone needs to read.) It is: “'They think they've gone to heaven,' he says. 'They don't realize that means they're dead.'" I don't know what that spoke to me so much, but it truly did. Love your video!
Awesome quotes there. Recognized some myself (I too love Brave New World). I have to say this isn't my favorite quote but my most recent-favorite quote is, "is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?" - Never Fade.
I just finished 'Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe' yesterday, and that exact quote stuck out to me as well. Honestly, quotes don't normally affect me but this one definitely has. Glad to see we have the same taste!
I loove hearing about other people's favourite book quotes! I can never remember the good ones, I really need to get better at remembering them. Oh my gosh, The Book Thief is like the most quotable thing ever
Loved this video so much i wanna squish and hug it! That book thief Quote!! “Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.” This is one of my faves from the Name of the wind ❤️
I love the quote "Just Be" in Confronting The Dragon by Mark Cheverton. It means to JUST BE whoever you are, because if you are afraid of yourself, don't be. Who you are is special- so JUST BE the problem solver. JUST BE the friend. JUST be whoever makes you YOU, because if you JUST BE yourself, that person who you are JUST BEing is special. 😊
I thought I was the only one who knows about Tom Stoppard , that quote is my favorite . This is my first comment on your channel, but I'm watching your videos and I am a fan. Greetings from Romania!
"maybe we just lived between hurting and healing" from aristotle & dante discover the secrets of the universe, i honestly loved this book so much and there were so many beautiful quotes 😍
This quote is from one of my recent reads and also now one of my most favorite books of all time! :D “I have learned above all is that no individual can reach the height of their potential without the love of others. We are not meant to be alone, Shahrzad. The more a person pushes others away, the clearer it becomes he is in need of love the most.” ― Renee Ahdieh, The Wrath and the Dawn
I loved the idea, you should definitely keep doing these vids, Regan. I'll share one of my favorite quotes: “Perhaps there is some secret sort of homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers. How delightful if that were true.” by Mary Ann Shaffer, "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society", one of the most underrated books ever, but such a great one!
Aristotle and Dante is just filled with beautiful sentences! One of my favourites is "To be careful with people and with words was a rare and beautiful thing". (:
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is my all-time favorite book. I just read it two months ago and the message that book delivers still keeps me awake at night.
