72 books?! It's amazing how well you balance college and reading so well! I'm only in highschool and im dYING
+Bibliosaurusrex I just had to comment because YOU'RE NOT ALONE
+Bibliosaurusrex SAMEE
+Bibliosaurusrex IKR! I got to 40 books this year but even that is less than what I thought I'd be able to read...
+Bibliosaurusrex I think she's kind of a machine at this reading thing.
+Bibliosaurusrex somehow I think I manage to read more in college than in high school so don't lose hope haha!
I love that you talked about books that aren't super popular! It was really refreshing. Seems like now a days people are talking about the same books over and over.. haha.
Lol same thing I was about to comment, nice hearing about books that no one really talks about!
MeganReads anybody else on booktube that you love that is like her ? Im new here and need suggestions for youtubers :)
I know what I'm reading next year.
Shadow of the Wind is what-the-crap good and Enchanted was incredible! I forgot all about Redeployment and need to put that back on the TBR. Great video BTW
+ThePoptimist Omg thx, and yeah both those books pull you in for very different reasons!
+PeruseProject what about the wondla series?
My favorite book this year was The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis. HANDS DOWN. It was soooo good. It takes place in Germany (the author is German and I'm so glad they translated this book into English) and is about a girl basically trying to figure out this boy who deals drugs and is always caring for his half sister while living alone. He tells stories to his sister and later the main character listens to them, too. Everything that he tells in the stories happens in real life. The writing is amazing and so poetic and the fact that there is a story within a story is so amazing. I literally cried by the time I finished the book. The way she words everything is so perfect and makes you REALLY think about everything that transpired within the novel.
Reagan and anyone who's reading this: PLEASE read it! I recommend this book so much. Not going to lie, probably my favorite standalone book now. Or book in general! It's great!
The Name of the Wind is definitely on my TBR for 2016!
I KNEW IT! I was just waiting for The Name of the Wind lol
Between Shades of Gray blew my mind, it's one of my favourites too! GREAT LIST!
EMMA WATSON YES IM SOLD NEEDDD TO READ QUEEN OF THE TEARLING NOW REAGAN
+hayaster I SAAAAAME
The Name of the Wind is an amazing book. I wrote a paper on it in the past year or so and am extremely excited to do a video reviewing it in the coming weeks. Fantastic choice.
That said, that is the only book on your list I have read. I think I will go through and pick one out to add to my list of things to read for this year.
I agree on The Name of the Wind. I loved it so much. This book was literally the warm feeling of sitting around a campfire listening to wonderful and fantastical stories in 800 pages. :)
I love Between Shades of Gray! It's so underrated, I'm really glad you also thought it was so important.
I LOVED THE NAME OF THE WIND OMG
I have read a lot of the books you have recommended/mentioned in your videos this year and last year and I haven't disliked a single one of them. You have a great taste. I guess I will read these as soon as possible. Keep making these videos bc they literally make my day. :)
I just started The Queen of the Tearling and OH MY GOD I am completely sucked in. I freaking adore Kelsea so far. I love that she isn't thin and pretty because, seriously, that should not be a requirement for a heroine but it seems to happen "coincidentally" so often.
I'm a relatively new subscriber and I'm loving going through your favorite books over the past few years. (And, yes, I read The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima first, LOL)
I read Between Shades of Gray this year too and I adored it. I loved it so much I made my mom read it too, and she also was blown away by it. Such a fantastic book!!
Feels like your autumn season was really jammed with AMAZING reads! Thanks for sharing these, Regan, I can't help but stretching my TBR even more...
so glad I found your channel, because I'm obsessed with historical fiction novels too! I may also have a long to-read list of books from watching your videos today.
seeing Shadow of the Wind and Station Eleven on your list makes me so happy. i read Redeployment at the end of 2014, right after i posted my favorites video, or i definitely would have included it. i need to read it again in 2016.
Why am I not surprised for Name of the Wind being your fave😂
I love you so much for putting The Queen of the Tearling on your list!
I so want to read The Name of The Wind! I read the first paragraph and I was hooked. MUST READ *growls in frustration at lack of time and resources*
I'm audiobooking The Name of the Wind, like 70% done, and I'M IN LOVE HONESTLY.
The young Elites is amazing, I saw you reading the name of the wind earlier so I bought the first and second book and I'm absolutely in love. I finished both books in 4 days
"The name of the wind" and "The shadow of the wind" made my 2013-2014.
I'm reading Between Shades of Gray currently for school! I'm about halfway through it and it is so well written!
You've made me want to read The Fifteen Lives of Harry August!
The Name of The Wind is my #1 as well, I LOVED it
I need to read all of these! My TBR for 2016 is growing every day haha, can't wait to get going when I get home from the holidays.
Omg, The Shadow of the Wind is sooo amazing, I really loved it. It's my favorite book of 2015.
I love your videos♥
I'm almost done reading The Bronze Horseman, the first book in the trilogy, and it's amazing so far! I can't read to read Tatiana and Alexander, and you loving it makes me more excited to read it!! I also read Bewtween Sahdes of Grey a while back and loved it so much XD
The Name of the Wind is one of my favorite books. It's so amazing and the writing is phenomenal. It was beautiful on so many levels. I even splurged to get a signed copy because it was just worth it.
All the love for Shadow of the Wind. You mentioning it takes me back....mmmm......yes those are the memories right there.
Thank you so much for the suggestion on The Name of the Wind! I started it last year and put it to the back burner because it got slow. After this review I picked it up again on your suggestion and read it through in about 4 days! It was wonderful!!!
I'm so exited to read The Martian!!! GAHHHHH I JUST GOT IT ((:
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!!
+LovingDemBooks I is brilliant! Definitely made it to my top 10 of the year :)
I just read it. it was...amazing. not a great fan sci fi but when I started reading it just felt so fresh and remarkable at every turn!
Exactly! I don't usually read Sci Fi at all, but I was intrigued by the first few lines :D
MyLifeBetweenPages haha! "First few lines"
Here they are, as I can remember-
'I'm pretty much f**ked.
Well that's my considered opinion.
F**ked.'
Very intriguing. Lol. But seriously, the narration is just so damn....perfect.
Great video as always! My favorite book of this year is "Aristote and Dante discover the secrets of the universe"
I've been out of the book reading thing for awhile...stumbled onto your videos...shadow of the wind, vicious, the name of the wind and the fifteen lives of harry august are fantastic...keep up the good work!!
I just completed The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. I looooooooved The Mistborn trilogy
+Sophie Luvs Books Do they read quickly? I'm scared that the "heavy" fantasy theme will slow me down...
+TellAllTales THEY ARE SO GOOD AND READ SUPER FAST!
+PeruseProject Thanks for answering! Now you got me into it! :D
I'm currently reading that one! :)
Ally Moon h
OH MY GOD REAAGANNNN I ordered the name of the wind a couple weeks ago becuase of you and I started it a couple days ago and I'm almost done and i love it so muchhhhhhhh. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
between shades of gray is so beautiful is actually one of my favorites of this year, it was very sad that anyone even me didn't know that part of the history where a lot of people suffered a lot of things
Awesome video! :)
My favorites of the year include (A re-read of) The Giver, as well as Magonia, Illuminae, Throne of Glass, Saint Anything, and I Am the Messenger!
I read The Queen of the Tearling and The Martian and really enjoyed those. Nice choices! I like how diverse they are and that I hadn't heard of some of them!
The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August is one of my favourites of this year as well. Such an amazing book. A First Fifteen Lives of Harry August movie would be amazing!!
Yes!!!! Name of the Wind!!! I think the Queen of the Tearling is among the top of my favourite books this year too! I had no idea they were making a movie for it! and Emma Watson?!?! It is going to be amazing!
The Ghosts of Heaven was my favorite book of the year. I mostly bought it for the cover, honestly, but I'm so glad I did. It's really complex and makes you think about things a lot, but it's also really suspenseful and engaging and has some amazing characters. I feel like I could read that book twenty times and still not fully understand it. I made both my parents read it because I needed someone to talk to about it. The first section didn't draw me in immediately, but it's also the shortest, and things just got better after that.
Great video, I love that I always discover new books on your channel. Somehow I'd missed hearing about a few of these over this year. Can't wait to see what great reads next year brings.
Now I'm more excited to read queen of shadows, it will be on my tbr next year for sure :) and my favorite book of the year is definitely the girl with the dragon tattoo, it's amazing
Between Shades of Grey was one of my favorite books last year and I was so excited to see it on here!!
My favorite book of 2015 was Seraphina by Rachel Hartman which is a fantasy novel about a kingdom where dragons and humans work side by side but there's a very tense relationship with a group against working with these dragons that can turn into humans and it's about this girl named Seraphina who just started working at the castle as an assistant to the royal musician and when a member of the royal family is brutally murdered, she has to investigate it and discovers a plot hidden to destroy the alliance between the dragons and humans.
Seraphina was a book that sucked me into this magical world and I would definitely suggest it to any fantasy lover! :)
Just got the bronze horsemen trilogy yesterday because of your recommendation. I feel like checking the Martian out now. Great reads! Thanks for sharing! ^^
I read all of 56 books this year so far...I think I can squeeze in at least one more. The Martian has to be my favorite, read it ages ago and I still can't stop telling everyone to read it! Honestly, I think everything else I've read and loved were all recommendations of yours. Very rarely do you lead me wrong. I will say, Harry August took me ages to get into, might have been in a reading slump but it's hard to tell, but once I did, I read half of it in a day and it blew my mind! I'm excited for her one of her other books, Touch. We shall see! Have an awesome reading year in 2016!!
My favorite book series this year was the Splintered series, which is a twisted Alice in Wonderland story that is absolutely fantastic and entertaining! It's about the descendent of Alice Lidell, who inspired Lewis Carroll's stories, and it's so underrated! More people need to read it!
I have " Between Shades of Grey" I read it about three times now. Really great book, and heartbreaking.
Only my mom thought it was "50 Shades of Grey".... ( I really don't know how she got that but yeah....)
I've been holding off on reading The Martian but now you've convinced me. It is officially on my list!
My all time favorite book of 2015 was The Young Elites by Marie Lu. I still haven't read the sequel but I KNOW it is under my tree right now haha. I loved it so much, one of my ALL TIME favorites. Great list by the way! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The Martian was my favorite read of this year! Ughhhh, so good. I will never look at potatoes the same again.
Queen of Shadows made my top 10 list too.
I'm dying to read the second Tearling book, Station Eleven, and The Name of the Wind. I need to get on those in 2016 for sure!
Another great historicall book originally written in spanish is ''The time in between'' by María Dueñas. It's set in Spain, Morocco and Portugal, it has a strong female protafonist that overcomes so many things, and it has romance...i read it this year and just loved it
You convinced me to try more historical fiction :) can't wait! Queen of the Tearling is at the top of my list for next year
Love The Shadow of the Wind. One of my top books ever. Love the follow-up books too! I have a deep desire to go to Barcelona and go on the Shadow of the Wind tour.
I was so surprised when The Shadow of the Wind appeared because we are reading it right now in school and absolutely everyone dislikes it, I haven´t even read a page so I might be convinced to do so now.
I hope the queen of the tearling makes the list. I loved it so much can't wait for the third book
"A Little Life" destroyed me this year. Six months later I'm still thinking about it
If it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't have known about The Shadow of the Wind. I'm currently reading it now thanks to you. I'm not very far into it, but I'm enjoying it so far.
Wow--thank you so much for this video! Several intriguing titles here that I've never heard of before. Clearly, I have some work to do...
The Name of the Name is also my favourite book of the year SOOO GOOD!
Thank you for interesting video!
My favorite books of 2015:
The Master and Margarita - Mikhail Bulgakov
Eugene Onegin - A.S. Pushkin
The fifteenth tale - Diane Setterfield
A long long sleep - Anna Sheehan
The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
Cinder - Marissa Mayer
The picture or Dorian Grey - Oscar Wilde
Fairy tales for Wilde girls - Allyse Near
I have read Station Eleven because your recommendation, thank you so much!
I'm very glad that you love The Name of The Wind as well, I wish that everyone could read this book to feel the same joy that this book brought to me, enjoy The Wise Man's Fear ^^
The Shadow of the Wind is so good!!! I love Carlos Ruiz Zafon, I'm reading the Angel's Game right now.
My favorite book of the year is Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami, I really enjoyed the story it's so creative, and I liked the way it's told, alternating the two worlds. It's very confusing at first, but at the end it's brilliant.
Great list btw! I'm going to check out The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August sounds really good.
YAY! Queen of the Tearling!
I follow your recommendations because I feel that you're one of the smartest book tubers out there and I like smart books.
I really want to read the First Fifteen Lives next year and start the Bronze Horseman Trilogy! Loved this list and have a great New Years! ♥Riv
Omg I loved most of your books too! The shadow of of the wind is one of my favourite books ever! I also read the other two of the same author but this one is my absolute favourite out of the three of them. Also really liked The Martina and I'm going to give a chance to the other ones you mentioned because they looks really interesting. Thanks as usual for your advice and have a happy Christmas :)
Here's a recommendation for you! "The Touchstone Trilogy" by Andrea K. Höst. This story came about when the author decided to write diary entries from the perspective of a girl who accidentally walked into another dimension. So it begins with a bit of a survival story, but then things get really sci-fi/fantasy and it's awesome. :)
It's not perfect (the author pretty much made things up as she went), but it was such an interesting and fun read. + You can get the complete trilogy in ebook format really cheap.
I'm still really relieved that you liked Shadow of the Wind. Seriously though, at one point I thought I might've hyped it up too much and you were set out for inevitable disappointment :'D
the shadow of the wind happens after the civil war in Spain, in barcelona, not after thw world war 2. or well, yes, because the the civil war was between 1936-1939, and the world war 2 was in 1939-45. but Spain didn't participated in it, just some volunteers. But everytime the book talks about the war, it's talking about the civil war.
Just for you to know :)
I love your videos😍
Your totally right! It honestly slipped my mind, I suppose I used ww2 more as a historical marker but the Spanish Civil War was much more central to the plot
+PeruseProject Have you read the other books?? it is a triology, I think. I've read the third one, but I didn't like it as much as the first one. I also recomend you the other books of this author, they are great!! :)
+Angels Busquets I'm just really mad because it wont let me change my your to you're and its driving me cray
+Angels Busquets It's going to be a tetralogy, but the the fourth book is not yet published.
+JAsmine Ong Yes, you can read just the first one :)
yay you finally read the name of the wind!! it's my favorite book of all time
YAY I LOVE FAVOURITES VIDEOS!!!! i also love how i literally dropped everything to watch this when I saw you posted a new video XD XD
I can't believe you hadn't read The Name of The Wind as a lover of fantasy... anyway I'm glad you liked it :D I didn't know about a few of the books you talked about, thank you!! Merry Christmas x
The Martian--I finally read it not long ago, and THEN watched the movie, loved both! The Martian will probably make my list this year! Great video, I added a few more books to my TBR :)
I loved Mark's humor in The Martian too! I still need to watch the movie and I can't wait to do that! Queen of Shadows is also a favorite of mine this year!
The Martian film was AMAZING! I loved both the movie and book, and also QOS was my favourite!
Great list! I've read & enjoyed several of those. I also read The Enchanted this year.
1st 15 Lives is definitely going on my list!
A few I loved in 2015: True Grit, East of Eden, Cuckoo's Calling, A Separate Peace, and Their Eyes Were Watching God.
I had an English Exam this year about Phil Klay's "Redeployment". I had to compare the main character Sgt Price to Billy Pilgrim from "Slaughterhouse Five". I was very happy with this proposal (We had to choose from three different ones) and I got an A. I hope my final exam will be as great as this one as well! (I'm living in Germany) :) Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
I love The Enchanted cover!!
I'm not sure if you've ever read On The Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta, but I read it this year and it was easily one of my favorite books of the year! The writing and the story was so beautiful, I highly recommend it!
I just noticed a scene change! Looks great!
i LOOOOVEEEE between shades of gray!!! It is so amazing!
My favorite books read this year were The Lunar Chronicles, The Darkest Minds Trilogy and The Song of Achilles. Didn't read much in 2015, but most of the books I read were really, really good!
Got some good recommendations from this video! Thanks! My favorite of the year has to be Illuminae. I just loooved it!!
I agree with your number one pick. I love that story!
The Shadow of the Wind is one of my all time faves. The Name of the Wind is on my 2016 TBR :D
Love your picks! Also, that lipstick was made for you!
I loved the Martian, it's my favourite book of the year. I also loved Queen of the Tearling and can't wait to read the sequel :)
I've never heard of Shadow of the Wind but I'm so excited to read it now!! Eeek!!
The Martian and The Name of the Wind are some of my favorites that I read this year, the others being Ready Player One, Winter, Hyperion (by Dan Simmons) and Tell Me Again how a Crush Should Feel (by Sara Farizan).
totally off topic but I love your lipstick! It looks gorgeous on you, and the colour is beautiful
Came back in time to watch this cause love your book reviews....!!
Love your selections! I have read about half of them. I will have to look back through what I have read this year to pick a favorite but some of the tops were, Walk on Earth a Stranger, Everything Everything and Golden Son.
You're really good at making books sound very interesting. :) I think I might have to pick up The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.
Queen Of Shadows is definitely one of my top reads and also a darker shade of magic city of heavenly fire (which i believe came out in may) the 5th wave (first two books)and my top book was a thousand pieces of you (first two books? dualology? idk..) which is soo good (you definitely need to read this one I LOVED it and I definitely think you would too!)
I LOVED The Martian and Station 11, too!
Shadow of the Wind is absolutely amazing.
