I found your channel thru your most recent version of this video which introduced me to Sanderson, Hobb, etc - basically to the fantasy genre - and your energy for these series was contagious. The only one I had read (or heard of) previously was Broken Earth trilogy (so amazing). Now I've read part or all of Farseer trillogy, Liveship Trader trilogy, Mistborn (both eras), Books of Babel, First Law Trilogy, and Jade City (altho I'm having trouble getting into that one TBH). This year I hope to finish the ones I've started and get into Poppy War and Stormlight Archive, as well as continue with Hobb's trilogies, and plenty of others. I highly recommend The Name of the Wind, it's my all-time favorite. It's about a man who became a legend but has now retired from that old life and owns a bar like a regular guy. He is called by some names like: Kvothe the Arcane, Kvothe the Assassin of the King, his history is twisted with lies and he has a bounty on his head, so he keeps a secret identity in a small isolated town. One day he saves a scribe's life from some monsters in the forest, and this scribe coincidentally was looking for him because he wants to tell his story. Kvothe reluctantly accepts and begins to tell the whole story. He says that the story will last 3 days, so there will be three books, each book spends one day in the present.

Robin Hobb with her Realm of the Elderlings should be a no-brainer for anyone. My number one is Tawny Man, two Fitz and the Fool, three Live Ships.
Broken Earth - Just a very good series.
Stormlight - Two first books simply excellent, after that BS unfortunately kills it, dnf'd fourth.
Mistborn - Cardboard cut-out characters. Sanderson’s big problem - too much love for the system.
Age of Madness - The first writing by JA that didn’t grate me. Excellent to the nth degree!
Poppy War, Books of Babel, City of Stairs, Green Bone Saga - Haven’t read, will probably read sometime in the future.
In my top fantasy series in addition to the ones I like above:
Dagger and the Coin by Daniel Abraham
Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin
Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin
Second Apocalypse by R. Scott Bakker (please don’t read the last two books!)

It's published by a small publisher and is a coming of age fantasy with some powerful female characters. The language is wonderful. Warning: there's a lot going on, and the pace picks up as you read through the series. Some great plot twists, of course, and it's interesting how the author's writing style changes to reflect the maturity of the female protagonist. If you're tired of Gaiman, Martin, and Sanderson, you should check it out. Highly underrated!

Hi Angela🤗 Sorry I'm not an English native speaker but I'm fond of English literature and I'm learning English! I read 4 English books (A Christmas carol; The Great Gatsby; A green mile; Pride and Prejudice). But the problem is it's still too hard to read an English book for me. I wanna say if you don't mind couldn't we befriend and read together when we have enough time to do it(I will not disturb you everyday or even you can say I will never but only you have free time and you wanna do it yourself)🤗 I have a burning desire to have a friend of native English speaker and I would be so much grateful🤗If you don't mind become friends with me we could keep in touch on whatsapp or on instagram. I'll be looking forward to your feedback. Have a good day🤗

I tried the Fifth Season. I even tried the audiobook of the Fifth Season, and I just can't. I've heard so much good about her and this series, but I couldn't get passed the second time we get an entire chapter section in 2nd person. It's too awkward.

I'm currently on the second book of the Daevabad trilogy, I can't say I'm enjoying it all that much. The prose is very bland and the dialogue isn't great, although I do find the story intriguing enough to keep reading.

My mistake was not listening to your entire review of Green Bones and missing the 'crime family setting' info - I absolutely could not get into this story. For me, it was too slow, very little world-building, I'm not a fan of mafia stories, the power/magic system wasn't interesting, and the graphic s** really threw me off since one of the things I've enjoyed about fantasy series in general are great stories I can share with my teen kids
