      It's a pity that such a good controller is let down by cheap/low quality components & a couple of design flaws.
      It is still my go to controller.

    I dropped my controller on hardwood floor with the hair triggers turned on, broke the extended piece of plastic attached to the trigger cradle. This video is going to help me replace the controller frame seeing nobody would honor the warranty. the seller advertised the 90 day warranty, which microsoft told me they can't honor it because it isn't an official microsoft retailer so now I have to do the controller repair myself, because I refuse to spend another 150 dollars on a controller that can break from a fall thats barely over a foot off the ground. YAY!

    Great video, helped me clean my controller's buttons after a spill. I noticed while reassembling that its easier to put the circuit board in before the bumper bar. Also, I figured out the white tabs function is to give a mechanical brace behind the bumpers' triggers. They have a tight fit between the back of the bumper trigger and the black plastic of the controller. Ideally, first, you put the circuit board in, second, flip the controller over and squeeze those tabs in place and finally, fit the bumper into place.

    Your video was very helpful. I had to fix a sticking paddle button and was able to do it in less than 15 minutes with the help of this video. For anyone having issues with the paddle buttons (little green ones on the back), open it up and make sure that the little black dot on the board is in the center of the little switch thingy for whatever button your having issues with. Mine was shifted to a corner so I just realigned it gently with a knife edge. My top right paddle button is wonderfully clicky again.

    The outer screws are 6 star SECURITY heads, but in your video you say that the screws are 5 star heads. Also, the set you linked is wrong, because they're not security screwdrivers and don't have a hole in the middle, so they're never gonna fit. Unless the picture is misleading but I doubt it

    • @AngelSix
      @AngelSix  7 лет назад

    Been watching over and over until I finally went ahead to repair my broken inner frame. So I needed to disassemble that trigger metal with the springs. That's where you stopped unfortunately for me.
    But I just cut the plastic from the old frame and removed the trigger piece that is holding the spring. Actually, it's very difficult to remove unless you are putting a new inner frame like I did.

    Late reply but, for anyone having trouble getting the back plate to line up at the bottom with the audio jack hole, I was able to snap it in place by holding the controller from the top, fingers down the back (partly holding the triggers down), and thumb over the front above the audio jack/chatpad port (I've don't have small hands). I then placed the bottom of the handles (below the rumblers) against my chest and pushed down HARD with my thumb. A loud pop signaled the jack was in place.
    After that, the chatpad port wasn't lined up, so I installed the bottom 2 screws first and while trying to plug in the chatpad (careful with the pressure from the chatpad) I continued pushing the same spot as before for the audio jack while the controller was lying on a flat surface.
    Now, this meant I wasn't able to plug the chatpad back in if I took it out, but it turned out I forgot about the annoying profile switch. After taking the face plate off (again!) the bottom snapped back in with no problems whatsoever and the chatpad can easily come and go whenever I want without disassembly. Not sure what I did to get this result though.
    Hope this helps someone and great video! I had to get to the paddle buttons and wiggle/slide what looks like some very small black dot back over the center of the button to get the clicking noise for P1 (the button still registered but required a harder press than normal and no paddle movement or click). This dot seemed like it was under a sheet or something since I couldn't pick the thing up with the tweezers I was using (hence the wiggling/sliding).

      So tacky for like £120 though. I took apart the ordinary controller and was amazed at how tacky it was. The headphone jack was playing up and took it apart only to find out the jack is just a surface mounted connection not physically soldered to the board. I ordered a new jack on amazon for £2.99 so I'm hoping it will be okay.

      @AngelSix  6 лет назад

      First make sure everything is aligned correctly if you have opened it up and put it back together, then when fitting back it can be a hard fit to press everything back into place. However you could of misaligned something and so no amount of force would get it back into position. You can apply moderate force on the jack but nothing that would feel like you are having to push hard in any way, and if it doesn't go back in with that recheck your fitting

    • @AngelSix
      @AngelSix  5 лет назад

      To do what with it? Fit it back? It basically just sits in place and as the shell closes, the pins are springy so they contact under spring tension. It's best to drop the aux peice into the front shell first then fit the PCB over it.

  • @YeezyMcgeezy

    they way you push the bumper out is risky cause it could break the plastic bridge that connects each bumper. it's easier if you you push down the main x button with your index and use your thumb to lift up from the bottom.

      AngelSix yeah, the dislodged piece didn't come into play until the day after dropping it, but yes, still bad timing. Once I found the problem I realized it was the dropping of the controller that caused it.

    Hello, first of thanks for this great video. I have a problem where the right half of my A button is rarely registered the left half works great. At first i thought there might be some dirty like suggested in the video or maybe a missallignment between the circuit board and the rubber but i could not detect anything. Is there any recommendation you can provide what i could check?

    Don't know if you were aware, if someone has previously mentioned this below or if it even matters, but you put the bottom motors back onto that controller reversed of how they came out. Probably doesn't matter much 2 years later, but just thought I'd mention it.

      Albedo Yuriev Thanks. The old channel had lots of old links and subscribers to my old company I sold. Now I'm doing more videos I wanted to start fresh to get new subscribers that are interested in the new videos I make not the old stuff

    I rate this video a 8/10 on the educational side. 7,5/10 on the instructional side. Let me elaborate. You showed how to disassemble it and re-assemble it, BUT you could slow it down a bit. Most people use these guides while actually doing it. And i would have gone with a 90 degree angle torx tool instead to be more steady and for more leverage. A small magnetic stick would also be helpful since the screws are tiny. And slow down the pace a bit. Just some constructive feedback.

      It was. The plastic holding the RB and LB is fragile so i had to replace them.

    My elite controller is having weird power issues. plugging in usb doesn't work, unless I move the batteries around until it turns on. Then I can connect to xbox via usb. when I turn the controller off. It only turns back on again if I take one of the batteries out and put it back in. and sometimes even that doesn't work. When its on it works fine. Suggestions?

    I can t get my audio jack to fit back in to place when re assembling the controller

    • @AngelSix
      @AngelSix  6 лет назад

      It just sits in place. It could be some other part of the board is not fully sitting flat so looks like its the audio jack but could be something else. Double check all bits are sitting flat and level. Also the audio is pretty firm to get back in so needs a bit of a firm push to get locked in

    I’m having an issue where I press the top right back paddle button, it shuts off the controller. I have no idea why. I disassembled the controller the way did and now I’m gonna put it back together to see if anything changes.
    Please let me know if you experienced this or if you have a solution

    About the bumpers, I didn't get it. RB and LB were just one plastic part, in both the normal Xbox and the Elite 1 controller, that bends in the middle each time you press either button, so it was always a question of time until it will break.
    Is this the case on the new Elite Controller 2 Series too? Still one plastic part?

    When I put my controller back together I left our those 2 pieces you said weren’t needed. However my controller only stays on while the home button is pressed, when I release it the controller turns off. Do you have any ideas on what might be causing this?

    • @AngelSix
      @AngelSix  5 лет назад +1

      Usually the connecting sockets between the two boards are not connected fully. It turns off if those two cannot communicate
