I have been ill since April 2020, from lasting effects of Covid, and life has completely changed for me. I am totally unable to do many of the things I once was before this all happened. I am committing to being a part of this 30 day journey, even if all I can do is sit, breathe and practice gratitude with all of you, at least I am showing up, and investing the time in me. I thank you for all of your love and sense of community shining through these beautiful comments! Namaste. 🙏🏼💜

Andréa, that is a perfect approach. I'm so sorry you've been sick for so long. I spent a lot of today's practice in extended child's pose because I also recently had covid. So far it seems like my case is pretty mild, but I am surprised at how difficult it was for me to try to get back into it today. I will follow your example and continue to show up every day. I hope you feel better.

An important part of the yoga with Adriene ritual for me is reading for a few minutes the comments. I feel your love, my companions on this journey! Let my sixth 30 day yoga journey with Adriene and all of you begin!!
edit: I was reading the answers and feeling chills, as if the energy of you who are spread all over the world was connected and passing through me as well. I love how this bright and loving soul of Adriene has attracted so many wonderful people in one place and continues to bring more and more people together!
I am sending my love to all of you from Brazil and wishing that this stream of positive energy that I feel connected with you all may one day cover our entire planet!

I've been practising yoga with Adriene for nearly 6 years on and off now, but today officially marks my first full year of committing to a daily practice! Some days that meant 5 minutes of breathing and gentle stretching, some days it meant a sweaty hour on the mat, but every time I was glad I showed up. I never thought I could be the kind of person who did yoga every day, but now I couldn't imagine my life without it. Thank you, Adriene, for making yoga so accessible to so many people, and for helping me become closer to my body and appreciate its ever-changing strength and power over what it looks like ❤

That did not go how I wanted it to. My wrists starting hurting almost immediately, I couldn't sustain a pose without shaking. I've definitely become deconditioned. But that's ok. It's ok. I moved, I made it to the mat, and I can try again tomorrow. Thank you Adriene for showing me that I can keep showing up, can keep finding what feels good.
EDIT: your responses and replies to this have been amazing. They're what has encouraged me to try again today (day 2). Good luck everyone. We got this, whatever this looks like for you.

The yoga mat is a place where you can bring it all and leave it all. Like many others I began my everyday practice once my home state was placed under quarantine. Yoga called me when I was 16 but I was not in need of it yet. As my body and mind began to age a bit I realized that I needed a cure but the gym life wasn’t for me. My joints and muscles were becoming sore on a regular basis due to constant hard labor. I was becoming fatigued mid day every day shortly after lunch. I needed help. I studied about the health benefits of regular practice and looked on RUclips and somehow stumbled across yoga with Adrian. Here I am almost two years strong in my practice and I can say that I’m a brand new being. I can endure hours of work with no pain in my body and my mind operates from both sides . I hit the mat early to start my day and it truly is a cheat code in this game of life. I’m done now. Lets flow people! Big shout out to all my fellow yogi’s who know that this is more than just simple poses. Its a framework that builds a better you.

Hello to all fellow peeps with disabillities who chose to do this journey.
I know we're used to being shamed for not doing things in the normal way. So we get so hung up on the details and trying to be perfect to mask our struggles. But it doesn't matter how we choose to do this or when, if you showed up to the session then you succeeded in my book!
Sending extra love to all the people who have extra obstacles. We're in this together!

3 years ago I started my first 30 days of Yoga and I remember thinking that I'd never finish but why not give it a go and see how far I get. My first weeks were filled with moments where I almost gave up. I spent many poses angrily cursing Adriene's name as I forced myself into positions I wasn't ready for and stayed longer than my body wanted me to. Even just sitting upright was a challenge. Why was this so hard? Fast forward to today, I'm not feeling great this morning so I take it easy on a few poses and end a few early. Why force myself into a position that isn't going to benefit me today? As I relax in child's pose for a moment I think to myself was this new mindset the key to all my recent progress? I think so, and I can't help but wonder how much time I wasted letting my ego get in the way of me moving forward? Am I doing this in other areas of my life? Might be time to reevaluate a few things.

I had this exact realization this moment. Even though I can’t stay in a pose for as long, or move to the next one with ease that doesn’t mean to just give up.

I felt the exact same way today.
I felt very frustrated by the slowness and how long you have to hold the postures for, even though they’re quite simple! Her cues were annoying me as well which I found myself reflecting on during the practice. I spent a lot of my time in child’s pose because I either didn’t want to hold the pose as long or I was over it haha. I didn’t realise how fast I’m running - just a moment in a posture caused me lots of frustration because it wasn’t moving “fast” enough. Now that’s got to change. That’s why I love yoga because it challenges you, it makes you reflect. I know I’ll be a grumpy bum tomorrow as well but I’m sure I’ll come around. I would love to complete these 30 days because I know it’ll be so good for me.

    Person of the year: Adriene-!
Such a great tradition, I feel like coming home, to myself every year when we get back together as a community.
This year, I have started a bit later than Jan 1, however, at this point, I know that there is no such thing as perfection and as long as I keep showing up every day, a few days won't matter at the end.
Thank you for being here for us Adriene, especially in times like this where NOTHING is certain, and we are all so much in our heads.
Thank you everyone for showing up year after year, proving ourselves that no matter what happens that year, we will show up, we will start over, we won't back down!
NAMASTE BROTHERS AND SISTERS! NAMASTE FRIENDS!

I'm here again with Adriene after a long hiatus. I've continued to work out with weights, in fact heavy weights, but my yoga practice fell to the wayside. I needed a change. I needed something that would bring me back to feeling grounded and peaceful. I am grateful for the many yoga practices Adriene offers. I decided to do this one and just began, today, July 15, 2022. I was indeed challenged today, more than I thought I would be. But it has woken me to realize I need this in my life. Having lost my father recently, I have been grieving and struggling with "what's next". I have felt very depressed, chronically fatigued and like I have been spinning on a wheel like a hamster, not knowing how to get off. I have decided to take this journey, a journey that is well over due. I'm looking forward to a transformation to mind, body, and soul.

So excited for this, day 1. I’ve been away far too long. Still, a beginner, I stopped my yoga journey when life got in the way. Why? I don’t know. Cocky? Probably. The farther away I got, the stiffer I became. The older I felt. Then I fell off my eating plan. Now 2 years later and I’ve gained 40 pounds but more importantly than that, all my pains and stiffness have reoccurred. I feel older than my years (61 on the 12th) Not what I had planned for my life. Time to stop this madness. I know yoga and the keto way of eating is for me. No one’s coming to my rescue. It’s a new year and I’m excited to take back the reins of my life! You’re never too old to change, to improve yourself, no matter what that may entail. I thank Adriene for these free sessions. Not only does she offer a daily flow, she teaches!! And she’s not boring!! (Unfortunately so many others put me to sleep 😴 😂) So here’s to 2022 and all it’s possibilities!! Happy New Year! Meet you all on the mat! 🧘🏻‍♀️🙏🏼❤️
UPDATE: Just finished Day 1 and I have to admit it was a challenge! Just a stark reminder of how I’ve regressed. But, oh how wonderful I feel now! Granted, I couldn’t do all the poses or keep my head below my hips for long (can someone say “headache”, “pressure”. 🤯 ) but I never stopped, I kept it up till the end! Doing some stretches several times during the day will benefit me along my journey. IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK! 🙌🏼🧘🏻‍♀️🙏🏼

Still, the only thing I keep getting back to is yoga. Like you, I appreciate Adriene not only not being boring, but making me laugh! 😊
A couple of years ago they had to operate a benign, but big brain tumor. Since then I sometimes have problems with downward-facing dog and some other asanas (unfortunately, in child's pose too), so I understand the pressure in the head that you're mentioning. But if it feels too much, I stop for a moment. I am now committed to coming back every day. Like Adriene says, showing up really is the hardest part.🧘‍♀

At one point I just turned over onto my back and focused on my breaths and some intentional leg movements. I was relieved when Adrienne followed that exercise with moving onto the back to end the session because it affirmed my choice to keep going and transition to my back. Reading the comments helped me realize I’m not the only one struggling with wrist pain. I knew this would be a struggle for me as I have not been as loving to myself as perhaps I should have been throughout the years & this video did not disappoint but with shaky arms and legs I say "I can do this" and am proud and grateful that I showed up for myself today with everyone else embarking on this 30 days. thank you Adriene for making this possible

I haven’t been back to do yoga in about a year since then I have become a severe alcoholic my familyhas suffered a few losses this year I believe that I have been going down the path that doesn’t involve breathing or meditation or self-love so here’s to day one of sobriety may yoga with Adrienne be my guiding light

Last year, I started Breath during a rough patch in my life. Coming back for another January journey feels like coming back home! I'm very excited to see what little lessons there are to learn from Adriene this time and to reconnect with my mat.

“Maybe you finish the sentence I am here because… or maybe you quietly repeat the affirmation to yourself.. I am here. Because that is enough” This brought tears to my eyes & I felt it in my soul.

I had a similar experience! A very powerful statement : "I am here."

So honoured to practice along with all you wonderful human beings. I’m back to work tomorrow working 12 hour shifts so my fear is that I will not continue … but I am prioritizing myself this year and so will set my alarm early to get it in before work and see how it goes!

You and me same Laura, some hard long days coming up but I hope the calm on the mat can make them a little easier. Good luck to you!
