    Thanks a lot for this video, I was searching on the web to find a replacement part but that I couldn’t find easily. With your simple yet very clear explanation I could fix it in less than 10 mins. Thanks much

      Not sure. I didn't end up purchasing a new one, just repaired the existing one.

    so what do you do when the plastic tab on some of the fins at the bottom are broken ? buy a whole assembly?

    • @PracticalMechanic
      @PracticalMechanic  2 месяца назад

      Yes. But these can be a bit hard to find. Another alternative is to just remove the broken fins altogether.

    How about the air vent on the driver's side? Can I do the same to repair it? Thank you!

    • @PracticalMechanic
      @PracticalMechanic  3 месяца назад +1

      I don't see why not, but I haven't needed to take apart the driver's side one myself. Good luck!

    This happened in my 2000 Avalon. Those pieces that fell off are somewhere down in the wires. Long gone.

    In my Rav4 one of the vent assemblies has an annoying rattle which is most unpleasant to have to listen to on a car that has had just one careful owner. Yet the dealership says they cannot identify the problem because it is somewhat intermittent. In my experience there are quite a few problems with vehicles that supposedly experienced (and pricey!) repair places seem unable to fix. My conclusion is that often the owner must search for information and try to fix it himself. Mechanics and shops want a lot of money, but they don't necessarily know what they are doing. I will try to remove the vent and hope to somehow fix what is rattling. Shall I say: poor design!?

      Oh man, unidentifiable rattling sounds are the worst!!! Good luck in the search! 👍
