The SE3 is an "entry" level phone designed to provide a high quality, basic iOS experience whereas the iPhone 13 series is a "premium", "flagship" phone designed for power users or techies. To me the SE3 is for those who have a budget set for phones, a bit more minimal and they buy what they actually use/need on a regular basis. (a person who only takes basic pics and vids, does social media, phone calls, SMS and a bit of teleconferencing and not much gaming if any but still wants a high quality iOS experience....the SE3 is sufficient.) Comparing these phones SE3 vs iphone 13 is like comparing the Apple Watch SE to the Apple Watch 7 or the ipad 9 to the ipad pro.
Me too I have the se 3 and like it but the screen I am finding super small. I also watch RUclips all the time on my phone so think it would be a much nicer experience on the oled of the 13 mini. I’ve had the se 3 for 5 months now. Did you end up switching?
I prefer the SE because of the price. Untill I got the mini yesterday as a gift. Love the feel and the design. Hope to jailbreak and it is good for me😊

Bought 13 mini, display looks great and all but after using it for some time I started to notice eye strain and slight vertigo. Didn’t notice it in the shop and even though I liked the phone I had to sell it. So now I have SE and it doesn’t have any negative effects on me at all.
You should try dimming the brightness, and turning on the night light. Eye strain should be consulted with doctor. I don't think it's the issue with mini's screen
Wish Apple gave the SE 3 an iPhone XR design aesthetic, doesn't have to be an Oled display, just get rid of those chunky bezels it would've made more sense especially at that price tag
That SE is imo better with bezels and normal 16:9 lcd screen, proven and reliable and touchID and that red aluminum edges are damn pretty. I regret a bit getting the boring-black
I totally agree, the SE has a timeless design, I still have a gold iPhone 6S as a backup phone, it was my first iPhone and love that design, always will!
I bought the iPhone 13 Mini when they had a four day sale….no charge for the extra memory…..four days only. So I got my 13 Mini with a full 512 GB memory. Four days later….yep…their prices for the extra memory went back up. Got a screen protector and otter box protective case. Also bought a Agoz holster for it with Velcro and buckle closure. Great for travel in the world.
Well battery life is shitty, but doing normal phone stuff, it will last a day fine. If you start browsing youtube and reddit, it's definitely atrocious for the SoC to be using so much power
I have my current iPhone 8 for almost 5 years but am thinking of getting a replacement due to battery life. After reading and watching comparison between iPhone SE3 and iPhone 13 mini; I think I'm gonna get iPhone SE 3 because I prefer Touch ID and don't like the bright OLED display. Hopefully Apple will bring back Touch ID to its future phone on top of Face ID; so user get to choose what to use.
To each his own of course but I would suggest trying one of the more modern iPhones before you decide. People look at the screen of their phone an awful lot throughout the day so I don't understand how a bright OLED display would be less appealing than a dim washed out LCD.
@@blacbraunsome people get heavy migraines because of the OLED display, it strains the eyes a lot and for people with sensory issues its bad. I was also testing phones at the store (mainly iPhone 13 and the SE) I spend like 15 minutes on it and felt dizzy after and my eyes were feeling weird.
Creating the current se model a full screen with a virtual IPS and a dynamic island is a bang. With 2 lens on the rear like the 13’s would be my dream phone.
I have the se 3 and I love it. Sure the battery life isn’t the best but if you travel with a charger there is no issue with this phone. If you just need something reliable and not really into pictures or videos then this phone is great. Not saying it can’t take pictures or videos but there are definitely better phones out there for those things.
Nobody would buy a small display if they consume media, that part is fine ig. But the battery department definitely needed an upgrade, which would make it a complete banger.
Iphone11 Pro Max user here and very unhappy about bulky size. I like small phones. I found my old 6S few days ago. Man, it was best phone ever! How it's elegant! I like home buttons to be honest. I miss them. Thinking about renewing my phone with a smaller phone. No budget problem. Better wait for Mini 15 or Se4 maybe? PS: Battery is a huge concern for me and 11Pro Max battery sucks
I am torn trying to decide between these two phones as my first iPhone. I don't do any mobile gaming and mostly just browse social media a bit so I'm a light user and I'm wondering if the 13 mini would be overkill for my needs.
I have similar use and had the same dilemma when buying the SE 2020 or iPhone 12 mini. I have never regretted it and it just works. The mini has that modern design and better camera but for me it wasn’t worth the additional cost.
The iPhone se 3 is still a very solid and good phone, but the iPhone 13 mini is a bit better in just about everything. I’m decided I’m going to save up for the iPhone 13 mini (I’m upgrading from my iPod touch 4th generation *lol* about time)
I love watching Tech Spurt review Apple devices because you can see the physical pain he's going through whilst using them. Hilarious, keep it up mate!
Had the iphone 6 since it was released. Time to change. The camera IS the game changer and why the SE is not even a contender now. And yes...the longevity makes me realise that the extra money now will be money saved in upgrades over the next 5-6 years.
Got the 11 as they are very cheap new as they clear stock. Miss the button but otherwise no regrets. Use the 6 as a back up on another number and it’s unbearably slow now 😂
@@jackwilson5542 How ignorant and stupid can you be? I have been an Android user till now, but I don't really care about the operating system. I use iPhone SE 3rd Gen 2022 with 256GB RAM bought in April 2022 after switching from a iPhone 12Pro Max I bought in April 2022 as well. I hated the 12 pro max and 13 pro which my partner has, as a second phone for myself (I tried both for few days). Main reason is pro max is bulky and pro is hurts my hands. I hate new UI modes as I am a creature of habits. I spend my time on this phone outside most of the time in a country there is a mask mandate. I want a phone with a home button, I realized that after 2weeks of use. And now my new iPhone 12 Pro Max sit here unused.
I really appreciate it this review and it certainly was a lot of fun. I knew the iPhone many had to have a lot of advantages but I wasn't sure exactly how many since the sc3 is brand new as well. If you don't have much money you certainly would be better off buying one of the Android phones with more feature but if you can afford it and want a small phone it looks like the mini is definitely the way to go. You have a friend in Columbus ohio!
OK, what about in the middle 12 mini? Isn't it bit cheaper then 13 but still better then SE despite the older A14 chipset? Including some 20% better battery life?..
Hey Chris, I clicked one of your videos thinking your Murr from the Impractical Jokers show I thought he decided to open up a RUclips channel since you look very much just like his doppelganger, just curious are you his secret brother or something? cheers love ya cut g
Neither is a bad choice if you enjoy the Apple ecosystem, but the SE wins out if for no other reason than it doesn't have that annoying notch. If you're going to push out a smaller phone, it should not have a notch. The bezels on the SE might be a bit off putting to some, but it's a fair trade over the notch, and still gives you that retro vibe.
The SE isn't great but for my brother who's studying in America and everything there being geared to apple products which is "cheap" but still a new phone as opposed to a 3/4 year old flagship at the same pricing isn't that bad, he's also not a tech geek.
Bottom line: If one does not care about OLED screen (tbh the SE screen is absolutely fine and tiers above the usual low end android 720p IPS screens), get the SE 3.
I currently have the se 2020 and can not wait to upgrade next month to the 13 mini as the battery life is shocking on my current se and will not be making that mistake again 🙄.
I love these funny reviews. I'm still using the iphone 7 and I absolutely love it. I wish they would just make it again. White bezel for the win. 3d touch. IF they could just make an iphone 7 with magsafe and usb c I would be set.
To all the people who don't want to buy the iPhone 13 Mini because of Face ID. I used the 4s, 5s, OGSE, 7, 8, and SE for over 10 years with Touch ID. When I was changing my phone in 2022, I couldn't decide between the SE3 and the 13 Mini. Every comment under the SE said it might be worse, but it has Touch ID. I also thought that was the most important thing for me, and initially, I chose the SE. However, later I decided to switch to the 13 Mini. After 5 minutes of using the phone (I have used touchID phones for over 10 years!), I can say honestly that Touch ID...... sucks in comparison to FaceID. After those 5 minutes, I know I would never want to go back. Face ID is faster and works from such angles that you can have your phone on the table, and unlocking it is quicker than you can swipe up. You don't even think about it. So, if Face ID is holding someone back, it doesn't make sense. Additionally, it seems to me that all the opponents of Face ID simply have never used it..
Hi! Great review! Has anyone tried having actual photo prints made from pictures taken on se3 vs 13mini? If so, how are they? Big difference or not really? Thanks!
How does it compare to the iPhone 11? In-laws are a big iPhone fans while currently using the iPhone 6. Next jump will likely be the SE22 tho trying to convince them it is false economy especially as they want a decent camera to capture moments with the grandkids

Picking my battles here and iPhone 11 vs SE22 is going to be a tough sell. Bigger screen, better battery and camera all things they are looking for so it makes perfect sense
I have the iPhone SE 2020 for a bit more than 1 year now and the battery life is horrible Really disappointed that I gonna change it soon… Maybe to the iPhone 13 mini to stay with the compact size
Personally both have amazing features but Im probably going to get the SE for now since its easier for me to upgrade from my current iphone 6s. Its more familiar, has the home touch id button, is cheaper and has an LCD display which doesnt strain my eyes. I would love to get the 13 mini after that but dont know if its still available in 2026/27. The biggest problem is the OLED display, just testing those phones in the store a bit strained my eyes and made me feel dizzy but I love the extra features that the camera has and the design of the phone. Its so sad apple doesnt produce mini phones anymore so after the SE that would be my next phone maybe.
I remember when people chose iphone XR over the XS because of the battery life and the iphone 11 is much better than XR in term of batter life. I don’t know if ios become more demanding or our standard on battery life increasing
if se3 had magsafe id probaby opt for it, coming from an iphone 11 ive learn a few things, 256gb is too much storage for me, currently sat around 40gb with everything i use on it. I dont watch videos on my phone and only really use it for spotify and occasionally scrolling through social media apps but usage across then is sub 2 hours. Face ID is nice but after 4 small drops from it slipping out my pockets face id doesnt work. whilst i can use it one handed reaching for the top of the screen fully one handed can be abit of a strech and when i just want to pull it out of my pocket to do a quick calculation or conversion its more hastle than i need it to be. Magsafe on the iphone 13 mini is the only deciding factor for me.
I don't get how are you comparing these two phones!!...one who is thinking about buying a Se 3 definitely cannot afford the expensive 13 mini...there is a huge price gap!!...compare iphone 11 with se 3 then it will be a fair comparison...because price gap is low there....you are talking about family car vs sports car

Android user here. Never owned an iPhone before. They were always too expensive. But times have changed. I like compact phones. And not silly money to buy. Android phones are getting too big, too expensive and too complicated. I need a phone that does the basics right. The SE 2022 is compact, good camera, (one is enough for me, rather have one good one than three mediocre ones) IP67, wireless charging, fantastic battery life for a little phone, 5g if and when required, years and years of updates, very impressive speakers for a wee phone, A15 chip means no need for anything more than 60hz I dont game on my phone, don't use the camera too much either or watch movies. I like the physical fingerprint sensor too, never liked the in display one's they don't work as reliably. I don't see any Android phone at this price with these specs. I am probably going to cross over to the dark side and take the plunge
@@ShynobieX Then give us a recommendation for a small phone which is fast, isnt too expensive, is cheap to repair and has: IP67, wireless charging, good battery life for only having 2000 mAh, 5g, dual sim and takes good photos and video with years of updates to come. Not everyone wants a 6-7" brick... I have a PC with dual monitors at home and work, than I carry a 14" notebook with me so I really dont need to carry a big and heavy phone with me. And when I have free time I go biking, hiking so small and light is the way for me. And when it comes to the battery I can charge my phone almost everywhere.
In terms of battery is there a significant difference between the new SE and a Galaxy s21/s21fe? I love IOS, never had a android phone, but in my country the s21 is cheaper than the SE, so I’m thinking about giving a chance to samsung
If you want IOS then you don`t really have a choice but if you don`t care then go with the Samsung A52s 5G , you will also save money not buying the s21 & it is a fantastic phone .
Yeah, there is a very significant differance between the SE and any other phone on the market. The SE has half the battery capacity compared to the S21
1:00 - I call bullshit. The home button is STILL superior to the “gestures” of iPhones that don’t have home buttons. I found myself swiping upward two to three times every single time to get the reaction I wanted, where as double clicking a home button is faster and easier. Swiping upward in a miss once or twice every time I wanted to scroll through background apps may sound like I’m not picking….but it’s annoying enough for me to get rid of the buttonless iPhone after on out two days. The gestures can be accurate, but not 100% of the time, which is what I require to function….100% accuracy in my phone gestures/navigation.

Agreed. I think the SE looks better without the massive notch cutout like the 13 mini.
Agree, except for the fact that SE is missing the ultra wide camera, night and cinematic mode but apart from that is a great phone
Genshin had a big impact on his iPhone SE's storage
Bought 13 mini, display looks great and all but after using it for some time I started to notice eye strain and slight vertigo. Didn’t notice it in the shop and even though I liked the phone I had to sell it. So now I have SE and it doesn’t have any negative effects on me at all.
You should try dimming the brightness, and turning on the night light. Eye strain should be consulted with doctor. I don't think it's the issue with mini's screen
That's because of oled pwm dimming.
Approximately 10% of people suffer from that.
I don’t have that problem with my 13 Mini at all. Never heard about that eye problem before.

Wish Apple gave the SE 3 an iPhone XR design aesthetic, doesn't have to be an Oled display, just get rid of those chunky bezels it would've made more sense especially at that price tag
What's stopping you from getting an iPhone 11? Better cameras than Xr. Just a 2 year old processor and no 5g. I'd get an iPhone 12 or 13 myself.
@@blacbraun They did say an iPhone XR design aesthetic. Not an iPhone XR.
That means having the latest A15 chip on a XR body.
2016 bezels still be fine for me, they should make the flash under the camera.

That SE is imo better with bezels and normal 16:9 lcd screen, proven and reliable and touchID and that red aluminum edges are damn pretty. I regret a bit getting the boring-black
@Kitchen In The Dungeon 🇺🇦 The design is refined since the first iphone 6 and stands the test of time. Proven and reliable

I really hope iphone mini will have finger print reader on the side and aluminium body
How bad is the se 3 battery life? I use my phone to stream to podcasts and music all day at work
Nobody would buy a small display if they consume media, that part is fine ig. But the battery department definitely needed an upgrade, which would make it a complete banger.

I have similar use and had the same dilemma when buying the SE 2020 or iPhone 12 mini. I have never regretted it and it just works. The mini has that modern design and better camera but for me it wasn’t worth the additional cost.

Even an iPhone 13 Pro Max can be used as a grill plate when playing Genshin Impact..

Yea but 13 mini has more realistic camera
Neither is a bad choice if you enjoy the Apple ecosystem, but the SE wins out if for no other reason than it doesn't have that annoying notch. If you're going to push out a smaller phone, it should not have a notch. The bezels on the SE might be a bit off putting to some, but it's a fair trade over the notch, and still gives you that retro vibe.
What’s the notch actually do. Looks gross.
Which is better for camera
Of course 13 mini
The SE isn't great but for my brother who's studying in America and everything there being geared to apple products which is "cheap" but still a new phone as opposed to a 3/4 year old flagship at the same pricing isn't that bad, he's also not a tech geek.

I would choose a rotary phone before I get a phone with a notch or dynamic island 😂 face id Is trash
