      That’s how the rest of the World would view that. The TAP fanboys would say he should have done a nose gear landing and risked a $60m jet to show his awesome pilot skillzzz and save his pride.

    The same thing happened to me on an XL flight from Manchester. The female captain announced that there was a strong cross wind from the island and causing turbulence. She said she would take a turn round again. She landed the aircraft with hardly a bump.

      The captain of TAP 425 overshot the runway and crashed into the rocks and sea below killing 131 passengers and crew and injuring 164. This happened on the 19th November 1977.

      I was ATCo for almost thirty years. BA is never wrong, believe me. Super cautious but never wrong.
