PS1 only works with CD-ROMS of the 90s and early 2000s, including music discs. But anything else is unrecognizable.
The difficulty closing the top to the PS1 is how you know the system is very very old

But it's not the first " Playstation " Console, PS one name came after PS2 came out to avoid confusion, otherwise it was simply just PlayStation, Also PS one was another crack at portable gaming for Sony since the PS pocket but before PSP, that's why you had travel bags + LCD screens that connects to it and car chargers besides the obvious size of it.

The Sony playstation came out 1994 with no joysticks on the controller. The psone came out in 2000 introducing the dual shock one controller, with vibration and jooysticks. So basically you don't have an original PlayStation but that's OK
