I wish I could agree with the sexualization and nsfw being the reason but there are TONS of artists in the animation industry that has nsfw art out in the open ( Rebecca Sugar is a good example ). In Ash coyote's documentary, furries being shunned in the animation industry started a very long time ago and the reason wasn't really the sexualization it was more so the freelance art. The industry hates artists who can make money independently or give free art to their friends.
TL;DR: Disney doesn't like furries because we can make money and better art without them

Hating someone and pandering to them in order to milk them of every dollar aren't mutually exclusive
Technically speaking, Nick isn't a furry. He's just anthropomorphic. He said it himself. Isn't a furry just someone with a fascination for antro animals? Or there's just some alternate definition I'm not taking into consideration. That's the same reason I cringe when people call ALPHA AND FRICKING OMEGA A FURRY MOVIE! But I don't consider it antro either. In fact, I don't consider that garbage pile a movie at all. Anyway getting off topic here. The whole point, as far as I'm concerned, nothing can be a furry movie, just geared toward furries. Then again, I could be completely leaving out some super important detail that shuts down my entire claim. Frick.

If you're an artist working for Disney, every art you do, belongs to them. That is their contract so they can snatch any good idea you have. As a downside of this rule if the artist draws something NSFW they also own it. It means that they own a LOT of inappropriate art of their characters since artist aren't pure hearted beings. I don't know if this is true, that's just something I heard on the internet.
This is true for many studios. From my understanding it’s simply there so artists can’t sue Disney for including their work in various shows. Yes, their are people who are like that. However, if you’re drawing off work hours and at home, there is no real way for them to enforce this rule.
Imagine drawing to yourself and some agent comes out of nowhere and looks over your shoulder, "whatcha got there?"
"UH NOTHIN-"
There's an old legend that, back in the days when Disney himself was still alive, some of the animators drew a short smut sequence purely as a joke among themselves. Word got around about all the snickering and reached Disney himself - who turned up, smiling and laughing, and asked to see it. He found it hilarious and asked who had made it. Once the responsible animators owned up, Disney immediately dropped the happy-boss-with-a-sense-of-humor act and fired them all on the spot.
@@vylbird8014 sounds like something the old bastard would do, y’all ever heard what happened to Ub Iwerks? He was Disney’s friend, and now art teachers around the world teach their students not to fall for a boss like Disney lest ya become like poor Iwerks

Ok this is a rather lukewarm take on the topic because it is trying to pin the blame on ONE brand for something that is universal and a very common human trait. If anything it should say "WHY DISNEY HATES FANDOMS" and make a list from that; over sexualizing, hyper focusing on certain aspects, harassment towards the creators, overzealous fans, toxic mindsets and more. That logic applies to My Little Pony; we all know the show was created as a solid and fun show that taught us lessons about compassion and friendship and didn't treat it's target audience like idiots. But then Bronies happened and now most people likely hate MLP for it. And that is a common problem when you release A PRODUCT to a wide, mainstream audience.
The Maverick comparison doesn't hold up because OUR fursonas are still OURS and even if we merchandise them through pins, plushies and art, they are still OURS and we are attached to them. So anyone trying to sexualize them without consent IS disrespecting the Care and love put into it.
But when something is created to be sold as a brand in a grand fashion to a mainstream audience, it's no longer the artists or the creators product, it belongs to the world and company. You lost control over it. It's like John Lasseter, director of Toy Story said, when he say a child showing off a Woody plush to his dad at an airport he knew that Woody was no longer his it belonged to the world.
To use a more recent example; Frozen. Disney clearly knows people love Frozen and they see it as their best modern animated classic. That being said, that has not stopped people from using the brand as a way to twist it into something more sexualized and even sinister. Do we really need to go over all the Toy Channels that put the characters in very awkward even criminal situations? And the countless of fan made games where you took care of a pregnant Olaf or Elsa's foot. And much like how the Zootopia AD stuff can be blamed on the furries, the Frozen stuff can be blamed on predatorial people who use a recognized brand to lure children to it.
So really this argument kinda falters because it's assuming companies hate fandoms for things they likely know happen every single day and only act when it leads to a severe backlash (like basically anything with Star Wars).
if you want a TRUE reason as to why Disney hates furries...Zootopia Land only exists at Shanghai Disneyland and not at the American parks and no sequel has been announced. Boom there it is.
@Dusk Raccoon That's true, but again, this is something to expect out of fandoms based on mainstream media and products. When fans create stuff like "The Disney couples drawn in Fifty Shades of Gray" style scenes, it's going too far but it's something they can't do anything about. They can control if they are using it to sell something or be predatory with it, but when it's fan artwork and such, they can't really say "no" because it goes into that very gray area of whether fan work is legal or not. It's very complicated beyond assuming that "Companies hate furries because they were horny on main and made yiff":. Yes it's ANNOYING but you can't control fandoms like that.
Oh and to add to this, I feel the furry hatred comes more from the Disney FANS than Disney itself because much like other fandoms, when furry gets mixed in because of a common thing (a game, movie, anime series, TV show etc) they feel that furries will "ruin it for them" based on pre-conceived notions created by a mainstream media that cares more for the shock value than actually giving people proper context. Disney fans KNOW that Disney has a presence in furry. Disney fans KNOW there is adult fan art of characters just like they do with the human characters. Disney fans KNOW how hyper furries can be. But they only know this based on what they perceive rather than what they know. Disney and all companies in general could care less for furries as long as they generate attention and money. Just look at Netflix; ,many see their pandering of furries using stuff like Beastars and BNA as patronizing and disingenuous. So maybe companies having apathy may be somewhat of a good thing for the fandom? Again it's very complicated...
I’m fairly certain Disney has a whole giant folder of NSFW art drawn by the actual artists and animators themselves, going all the way back to their beginning, that will never see the light of day.

Yeah
It's real, and it's more like a vault, allegedly.

I’m an asexual, so maybe I can’t say much but honestly... what group *doesn't* have a sexualized factor to them? I personally can’t think of one. Rule 34. Why is it that furries get the bad rap for their sexualized factor when every group has one? That’s what I’d like to know. Why?
Maybe it hybridizes easily? Pick any fetish you can imagine, and that fetish can be (and has been) depicted in furry art.
It's because with furries it's sexualizing animal characters, while other fandom's sexualize humanoid things.
As an asexual furry, I have to say that it’s because the media likes to focus on the most extreme aspects of things, and that thing becomes a stereotype. I think there are even a few shows that have episodes where furries appear and are at their most sexual/weird side, and that’s when it people who watch those shows start to associate us with being deviant, zoophilic freaks (even though there IS a difference between zoos and yiff). People just WANT to hear/see the worst of things, to keep things interesting. And it’s sad because there are many sfw artists who just want to draw anthro ocs without being associated with the “extreme” furries.
damn, I never knew humans had the ability to reproduce by themselves.
Furries: Draw anthropomorphic animals
Disney: Hey, I wanted the monopoly on that.
I understand and empathise with being upset at your beloved characters being sexualised, but when they threaten people's jobs just for being furries that's not okay and their ignorance is not an excuse.
Well I mean we don’t exactly need overpriced costumes from them
I remember watching the fandom documentary by ask coyote and how people lost their jobs with Disney because they were a furry...
Actually, Disney likes furries more than you would initially think. Many adults think that anthropomorphic characters are only for kids which makes it a medium that is unusable even though this is what Disney has mastered. The solution to the problem is vague and complex which is not a great combo. Furries allow for a steady revenue stream from movies like Zootopia that would otherwise face lower profits due to a lack of audience. We are basically the last hope, but many of us do not recognize the weight of our decisions which ultimately hurt the communities we are so invested in. There is a time and place for free expression, social media should not be a completely free place as many people involved with such platforms could be minors or businesses. If you really want the content that bad, go to places like pron hub, or e621. The reason you will not is that you do not need it. It is incredibly selfish of you to simply be flamboyant about seks on platforms that are meant for a general audience. I am not saying you can not do what you want, I am saying do not do it here. You would not run in the streets naked, so why would you post pron in the middle of an intersection?
You got stuck on the animators but the animators were very often the ones creating joke porn of the characters themselves. The Corporation of Disney hates it because they want draconian control of their product at all times and in all ways. They are why copyright law is so absolutely fucked.

Rule 34, Deviantart, Furanfinity: “Allow me to introduce ourselves......”

I could name three distinctly different CLASSES of art that could be what you're referring to. Five, actually, to include less spicy ones.
Disney's always hated you. Disney hates everyone.
Honestly, asking people not to sexualize a character from a VERY POPULAR piece of media is like asking a swarm of locusts not to eat any crops. It's impossible and completely unreasonable. I can understand the frustration animators have with people sexualizing their characters, but personally, if I were one I don't know if I'd have a problem with it. I made a creative piece of work, and people can do what they'd like with it, weather it be fanfiction, art, etc. And inevitably that will involve some more sexual stuff being made about that character. And I see that as being fine. You made something, you made it public, so you can't really complain about people doing what they'd like with it so long as they're not profiting off of your intellectual property.
Me too, I'm not a big consumer of NSFW but I actually imagined myself befriend the people who sexualize my characters, but there are several people who would be chill with that, I once saw an Italian RUclipsr know for philosophy video start reading a NSFW fanfinc in live about his characters
internet is chaos, you may stop few ppl but you cant stop thousands from all over the world
I agree, the only thing I can add to this is I wish some people would be more respectful in hiding it from passerbys who don't wish to see NSFW art of their characters. Perhaps some of this is the fault of the website hosting the pictures not having an ability to block an image until someone explicitly wishes to see it, and there is major issues with reposters and trolls and such. Still, many people need to put more effort into such things, especially when their NSFW art is of non-corporate characters like fursonas.
@@ShiitaKitsune64 (jesus i forgot to respond to this) 100% agree. But I'm just saying it's basically impossible to actually stop it.
I actually cant relate to not wanting something done with something youve made.
My sona is really just a species (Ive never even bothered to name the individual) and I'd be excited to hear someone else wanted to use it.
If they used his likeness to do stuff i just didn't prefer... Ok? Seems fine to me.
If people were using stuff ive made to do things that are morally wrong, then id prefer they not do the wrong thing at all. Focusing on them using my stuff is either irrelavent or abusing a legal loop hole to get what i want.
I dont really care how people use photos of real me, so long as it doesnt affect me.
So I can try to imagine how artists feel to see their creations "missused". But its more of an abstract idea than anything else. I cant relate.

Disney: **hates furries**
Nick wlid: why am i here?
Because Disney loves money and knows most furries have money and little impulse control, they hate furries but love money and will do any thing to part you from your money.
Disney hates this side of the fandom because it hurts their ability to monetize their family friendly marketing IP. The mouse only speaks in 💵
its also because of the way we trade art, we give out sketches and art and all that with basically no security, and they hate that
I doubt Disney knows about how furries trade art, and if they do I doubt they're bothered by it. people are acting as if they think they're the only people allowed to make money and that's just absurd
@@sheena333 i have heard from people within disney that they dont like it, theres some.complicated contract stuff or whatever
Honestly, if I make a cartoon with anthros and I get fans sexualizing them, I’d be flattered! Plus, I’ve heard stories of animators of family-friendly shows/films drawing NSFW of the characters they are hired to animate. And that art ends up in the Disney vault, and they go on with their day. I swear, you’re allowed to sexualize characters as long as you say: “I’m not a furry.” Meanwhile you get character designers making all these characters for sex appeal. At least, it used to be that way. So far all the kids cartoons I’ve watched don’t really have sexualized characters. BUT there are still characters that have attractive/cute elements (I may be asexual but I still experience aesthetic attraction), like the artists KNEW what they were doing. Which is still strange, considering Disney “hates” furries. Like they claim that, yet they allow employees to draw NSFW?? What is that logic?
Disney : * hates furries *
Zootopia : I'm I a joke to you?
So, I once heard that because Disney contracts are worded so they own any art produced by any artist who works for Disney while they work for Disney, even personal art... this means Disney has a vault of porny art, including furry porn art.
Now, I'm asexual, but out of morbid curiosity I would love to know if that's true.

It’s kinda weird how each company reacts to these kind of things, while Disney seems appalled by it the Pokémon company ( at least from what l’ve seen) doesn’t seem to care and actually embraces it sometimes with all the recent anthro designs made for furry bait. Another example could be Krystal from star Fox from Nintendo.
It's become pretty blatant. Final evolution starters like Cinderace and Incineroar, and Delphox. Lucario. Purrloin being bipedal in Sword and Shield. Sneasel and Weavile. Mienfoo and Mienshao. Zeraora. It's such a trend there's a reason when Lockstin made his fake Pokemon region he specifically added a heavily sexualized bipedal Pokemon.
I feel called out, I may or may not have written nsfw zootopia fanfiction before.
WTF
I like this guy. He makes a solid point. One thing that I want to point out that people tend to overlook is that no matter what religion, political group, or community you're in, there is always a person or even a small group within the main group that will give the group as a whole a bad name.
Honestly, I'd be extremely upset if someone sexualized my fursona. Not because "I don't want art of my sona"
But because Boba is literally a 12 year old. And it would piss me off and I'd be really upset if I had to tell someone that they made CP of my fursona and that its illegal and I don't want my name drawn to any type of illegal shit like that. Sexualize Pranx all you want, please don't touch the child.
This one guy: doing dumb sh**
Litterally everybody other person: BOI!!
Sexualization of characters isn't bad. If you put your character out there, even a fursona, people sexualizing it is a compliment. Nothing is ruined. Their canon character still exists, while the sexualization can be separate.
I loved this video, there have been plenty of times where I go and pour my heart and soul into a character only to have someone take said character and sexualize them. Mind you I do have characters that are specifically for that purpose but it really sucks when I go to show someone my artwork and they tell me they have seen artwork of that character but it’s NSFW when I explicitly created said character as SFW

I'm definitely of the opinion that R34 is a subculture all its own, and a number of furries happen to partake in it. (I definitely partook in my teenage years.) At the end of the day, R34 is an internet subculture based around sexualizing animated characters from mainstream media sources, furry or otherwise. (Look at all the Kim Possible R34 floating around.)
Nothing is sacred once it appears online, and Disney HATES that.
i was watching disney movie called treasure planet it has furries characters like dr doppler the dog, captain ameila the cat and john silver the cyborg bears and those non furry characters from treasure planet like jim hawkins the human and B.E.N. the robot, treasure island and treasure planet are actually connected because treasure planet is a treasure island series
I'm eating potato chips while watching this, well my dog consumes chips too.

Wait Disney hates furries??? But they made furries?? *what*
Well, not exactly. The concept of Anthropomorphic animals goes as far back as at least Egypt, with deities like Anubis, Set, Ammut and probably some others I'm forgetting.
@@mylastaccountgotdeletedtha6936 I know. The concept of anthropomorphic animals has existed since the age of mankind.
@@aikkizthepinkwolf3375 what if God was considering creating Anthropomorphic animals, but decided not to, at least not on Earth in this universe? What if the concept of anthropomorphic animals is a little bit more true than we realize? What if in an alternate universe, the tables were turned and the characters from TwoKinds and Changed are just sitting around a table saying "what if there was a universe with only humans and 2020 AD would be absolute chaos?"
@@aikkizthepinkwolf3375 Well, by definition, humans are animals and we are anthropomorphic. So technically, humans are anthro animals.
@@jonasgrill1155 Exactly
I thought Disney liked furries. Hell, Disney even made me a furry with movies like Robin Hood, The Jungle Book, Zootopia, The Lion King movies, I could go on and on! So, why would Disney hate furries?
That was old Disney. This is new Corporate China-simp Disney that owns Marvel, Fox, Lucasfilm and the probably hell itself by this point in time.
Not to mention they are having more furries in zootopia+ in 2022-
@@mylastaccountgotdeletedtha6936 But didn’t Disney kinda market Zootopia towards furries?
@@aikkizthepinkwolf3375 my best guess is that old Disney lasted until Moana came out, then it properly left. New Disney started out in the late 90s when they were churning out sequel after sequel, some good, some bad, but old Disney and new Disney have been co-existing for some time until about 2017 and all we have now is new Disney.
@@mylastaccountgotdeletedtha6936 True.

Unrelated but I just got an ad for single furries before the video even played.

Many show people, etc etc, take creators aside and tell them, "You're character is going to be abused in many ways are you really ready for this?" like.. thats a legit conversation, these are, technically SOMEONES oc, a few concept artists can legit claim characters as their OCs and imagine just having your OC but others doing god knows what with them.
I'm so fucking sick of people judging other people for having a place in the fandom. ITS A FUCKING HOBBY and don't act like other fandoms or other media also have a fandom with a dark side. In my opinion, furries should rise up, show that we aren't afraid of being who we are, not being afraid of random 13 year old call of duty fanboys that hate furries just to look edgy and cool. WE HAVE A WHOLESOME, ACCEPTING, AND TALENTED COMMUNITY AND WE ARE PROUD OF IT!
You really really have no reason to tell us, we all know why cmon.
I know Disney is just an example, but did you know that Disney is extremely self-conscious of their image? As I understand, it's all tied up in selling their brand, but from what I've heard, they're a bit harse about image inside the company. And they're also one of those companies that aggressively pursues potential copyright infringement.
I think you kinda covered this, with other phrasing, but I think it's just the "nature of humanity" (which is distinct from "human nature") to sexualize basically anything. It's all about numbers and variation in the population. With a large population, you get a lot of large number of chances for odd examples of a species to exist. And with that, you can get both good things, bad things, and things that are difficult to classify, and things that just don't really matter much to most people, except to scientists.
Variation is good. Variation in genetics are what allow a large population to not die out from a pathogen that happens to appear with the precise tools for infiltrating the immune systems of a specific genetic variation of the species. Variation in culture helps to prevent stagnation, and promote innovation. Variation in computer systems prevents malicious actors from exploiting vulnerabilities to target all the computers in the world.
Variation is insurance against threats that would exploit weaknesses. And it's necessary, because everything has a weakness. Perfection can only exist in mathematics.
You are my favorite furry RUclipsr. You take into account of both sides in this topic and still make me laugh while learning something new. :)
There’s Disney.. but don’t forget about that one Sonic the Hedgehog character (who I despise) Rogue! She was almost meant to be an... inappropriate character...
I don't believe disney hates furries because their characters are sexualized. I believe the artists themselves might not appreciate that and heavily dislike that and the fandom for it. But i doubt the company itself truly cares for that. I think that the better explanation is that Disney is a family friendly movie company, and they don't want to be net into the furry fandom or have their characters associated with adult content because of this. It would make the company look bad. And while yes i am aware the fandom isn't about porn in general, that is what the public sees. Which in hindsight is public knowledge but my point still stands and that point is that the company will get shot out of the sky by the media and by the public if Disney gets associated with the furry fandom or that someone finds out they have a furry in their work place. This isn't to say that Disney hates furries or the furry Fandom, it just means that they don't want people to associate the company with adult related content.

I don't know, Disney seems to actually like furries more than they want to admit. If you watch the Pinocchio live-action, they put more detail into the fox characters and they do any other character or effects in the movie. In Disney has a weird fascination with putting anamorphic animals in their movie, and putting them into suggestive situations. It happened with the original cartoon Robin Hood movie, and it happened in zootopia as well.
