So, just a normal day, then.

What the hell, how did I get all those likes?
A thank you is in order here~
Now, back to play some space station 13

Infinite furry drama cycle
Furries : does something
Other Furries : nooooo! we are not all like that!
*Repeat
Yeah if some one does something it doesn't mean every one does it be some people say that because people are simply oh so simply stoopid
that is why i am no longer apart of the furry community just a bunch of needless drama.
I think that's spot on
@@potatoe1319 Furries ARE like that, but they keep it to themselves most of the time while a few try to do stupid crap, then they keep saying "You're just a mere child with no practical use to anyone!" I learned to ignore such naysayers when, quelling them, hmm?
If you are a furry with any enemies who want to ruin you, relay these words, "I am prepared for unforseen consequences, and I am up and arms to defend myself when the time comes."
"Furries are kinda naturally.. sensitive"
"S I M P"
"Simp yes that too"

Videos like this spike my anxiety, and I'm not sure why. When Kothorix left the fandom and made his big furry hate video, it got over a million views, sending his personal problems with the fandom out and portraying them as facts of how we all are. I'm *not* saying you're gonna do something wrong, but I can't shake the thought that people WILL watch something like this and take that as fact for how all furries are, when that's just not true. Sorry if it sounds like I'm nagging, it just gives my a pit in my chest when I see this. 😅
Yeah, I feel exactly the same way. That video came out when I'd only been in the fandom for a few months, and all the controversy surrounding it was not fun to see. So I hope this video is done well.
I remember watching Kothorix’s video about leaving the furry fandom before I was a furry. At the time, my view on the furry fandom was already pretty positive, but that video gave me a bit of a negative view on the furry fandom. :/
I watched that video too, it was honestly depressing that he felt that way and had to make a video like that.
I personally think half the things he listed were either biassed or non issues. Are there genuine problems in the Fandom he talked about, yes. But still.
@@abthedragon4921 Yeah, exactly
Yah It sucks that Koth was the one that brought me to the fandom with the whole "as long as your not hurting anyone your okay" "yes there will alwaysbe bad people in the fandombut its not eveyone" attitude for him to go straight to "YOUR ALL HORRIBLE NASTY CREATURES AND I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU!!!"
Then a month later trying to crawl back to the fandom because he realized maybe going virally one time might not have been worth burning the bridge to the only people that would watch his content.
To be honest, rant or not, Beta is speaking facts here. Not to hate on any kind of person but I think that we as a fandom need to have higher standards on how we act in public be it irl or online. You can save your uwus and lewd chat for private servers or something.
Edit: I agree with so much you have to say especially with the idolization and also the sad truth about musicians and writers in our fandom.
The issue is wrighters and musisions. I can totaly understand. It is something in general I do not take much intrest in myself. The biggest problem is that the are not the artests that most people will join the phantom from.
Not only we have to raise our standards on how we behave, but also on who we accept in the fandom, I'm sick of being associated with zooph*** and pedos
@@witchdaggery Yeah, The internet has Zoo*****'s and all of those good furries confused!
True. It's off putting to encounter people who act all personal even though you don't even know them. Or people who just make comments for the sake of getting attention.
That's just my problem and take on it.
people are wayyyy to supportive grow the fuck up and stop ignoring everything
I do think your analysis of writers and music makers are pretty spot on. They are unfortunately shafted by the market and I think people in general are just lazy and don’t want to either pick up a book or they just want to be visually stimulated. And I do think we should call out bad things when we see them but I do think there is a point to where you just have to stop. A ton of people harassing someone on the internet are not going to change someone’s bad ideas or behavior. It could in fact make things worse. Leave it to close people to them to wake them up or confront them more directly. I believe they have a better chance to get someone to change them random people on the internet.
Mad respect for your analysis! 👍
This is gonna be...interesting...

@Wide Noodles ✓ what?
Very
This is exactly why I'm kinda on an off with the fandom man, despite the fact that its meant to be an active social space, I find it SO HARD to talk to the majority of people in it. Its like talking to children sometimes.
They either never leave roleplay mode (the roleplay mode ppl are also usually roleplaying a VERY underwritten fursona so its usually just the same 3 repeated phrases and a bunch of uwu's), only talk about themselves and are oblivious to everyone else, or are just h o r n y. Its just so hard to talk to people unless they are the political furs on twitter. I hate the people staying stuck in their own worlds and ignoring actually horrible people in the fandom just cause they make cute suits. I want people to be able to attach and detach themselves from their sonas, communicate with each other and form an actual community that can self police itself and communicate with itself. To have good escapism you need to have an understanding of the real world. People like this in the fandom aren't inherently bad, but they need to learn how to understand and communicate like adults and step out of their worlds when its needed.
Thank you for talking about this dude, we really need more actual communication in this community. I love this fandom, but we are a piece of work lol
Furries often put down women in the fandom because "ew girl gross". I've encountered this misogyny myself too. It's often the gay furries who are like this
Its kind of like how the gaming community treats "gamer girls" and half the time is meant to be a joke but actually just puts them down and makes it look like chicks can't succeed as being a big face in a fandom or something like that
ill elaborate on this comment for the rest of the *men* and women alike that find it
i love that ppl r acting like the problem never existed just because its better than it used to be lol
ppl in game still comment shit like "omg its a girl" whenever they find one in game, make comments on the game skin and even irl clothes, make comments abt having a chick on their team, and sometimes just be dicks. there are still PLENTY of ppl that play and just dont talk or reveal their gender irl because theyre sick and tired of the gamer girl bullshit
theres still more people that arent dicks, there always has been, but theres enough that its still very fucking noticeable in plenty of fandom/game circles
and theres the ppl that treat them with kindness just to be a simp and think theyre going to get something out of the girl by being nice, which is still common in those same circles and is just as nasty of a mindset
"gamer girl" itself is something that pisses a lot of people off, why cant people just be gamers? but its still a thing ppl throw around all the time
i don't care if girls are getting treated better in some places, its not a valid band aid to being very obviously treated *differently* in a lot of gaming fandoms still
technological circles in general have historically been shitty towards women and that didnt magically solve itself completely in the last 5 years
TLDR: its possible for chicks to get treated perfectly kindly by genuinely nice people within some awesome fandoms, but that doesnt mean others arent still getting treated like shit elsewhere that people just like to forget about
ya talk as if i *wouldn't* know personally lol
I find that total BS i know lot's of women in the fandom and they get treated better them anyone else i know
@@ariwoodward I'm not a furry but I call bull crap with the gamer statement.
In fact quite the opposite is true most gamers want their girl friends to play video games and enjoy the things that they do instead of complaining about them. And no I've never seen anyone in the gaming community say women can't play games in fact some of the gaming channels I watch are done by women and they never get any hate for being a female gamer.
That was all made up by people trying to play victim and pretend they are being harased but none of it is true.
@@tonk4601 I would argue that all of the stuff in this comment section is personal experience, so it's hard to "call bs" on it. I've experienced a bit of "oH NO GRILL GAmER" just in the short time I actually played games with voice chat, and in the past had many a 10 year old freak out when they found out they were playing with girls. It depends on the games you play- I'm sure CoD is worse than Minecraft, and I've heard LoL is a cesspool of toxicity all around- just depends!
On the other hand, I haven't seen much misogyny in the furry fandom, but I haven't gone to a con yet. Most of the people I interact with are nice all around, whether girl, nonbinary, guy, whatever. Just personal experience.
Isn't that just called furry Dysfunctional society
Haven't seen it on twitter yet thank God Hey to be a part of that society I'd be on the straight ticket to hell
FURRY RANTS ABOUT FURRIES
So an average, normal day on twitter
As much as being a furry is escapism, the anime community is just the same. I help run an anime con as well as cosplaying and I see the same things in both fandoms. It's honestly in any hobby. I do agree regarding the whole not being ignorant about the serious things happening within the fandom. It's important to be proactive about it. I know Artemis Wishfoot made a video about tolerance a while back, too, and brought up the whole "Just because you're a furry doesn't mean you'll get along." I do agree with everything you're mentioning though. Thanks for putting this out there! ds
Here's a like 😁👍
I never cared what people said as long as good apples are there. The reason why i am being a furry is a lot of misconceptions about "furry just a.. blablabla phile" "furry just people who like using a wolf suit(u know son, never tell that if u dont know fursuit and cosplaying, and majority of fandom doesnt have one either)" "furry just people who dress up as animals(never heard of original character b4?)" "Furries ruin everything"
Oh stfu
And most oppressed whether people gang up to destory/bully just ONE individual furry made me broke :(
Why cant just people ignore people like?
As u were part of anime community before, you might search "kemono fursuit" or "kemono furry" it will match your personal favor and style, just like i am
The reason i love furries so much as i love/adore pets
@@兽Arufisu "it will match your personal favor and style"
Not necessarily, I've been into anime for far longer than I've been a furry, and I'm not too interested in the kemono style stuff for myself. Probably not bad to mention it though, I don't think the kemono style is as well known.
@@drygonfyre its ok. Everyone find which is matching their own personal btw as i find my best one
True. kemono style isnt well known but there is more than kemono one, like ferals as example
I write. Not as much as I used to, but I do. The only times my literature were looked at was if it was paired with a good art piece, however, many people who came stay for the visuals, not for the writing that is paired with it, and it frustrates me, it's so off-putting and can hurt sometimes; I made something and had someone pair with me, please acknowledge the whole thing, not just the looks and style of the drawing.
Writing isn't as appealing on first glance, I understand, but they deserve attention too; the writers - as do musicians, dancers
I adore even the smallest comments, criticisms and opinions on what I've done. It helps me improve, and shows that what I do is deemed enjoyable to others outside my friend circle, but holy damn, writers very much get pushed aside.
I would like to check out your stories.
I’m also a furry writer and I feel your pain. My friend and I is writing a shortstory/novel (haven’t decided on length yet). I hope that I can get it published
@@phantomminer3293 if it's you first draft, keep writing until you run out of ideas. Read over the story Then check for inconsistency(plot holes, cliches, grammar) its ok if you break the story and simplify some parts if you have too. Then again you have your own style. Just keep writing and you find a style that works. My style is usually focused on longer arcs so mine is a little different. I would recommend starting small and simple. One or two main characters.
@@Random_Guy_20xx thanks for the advice and I’ll keep that in the back of my mind
@@phantomminer3293 you're welcome.
I always love reading a good furry story, but I’m unsure of what defines a music as being “furry”. Sure, a furry can create good music, but what would define it to the furry genre?
it's not about categorizing as furry content, but just appreciating the work who's in the fandom, you know?
This is partly why I understand that some artests are being left out.
Wait does maverick has a squirrel tail

Thank you, this video is really important. I hope it gets spread around a bit, hopefully kinda big. This stuff really is important. Like the fandom is portrayed as being super accepting, but it's actually kinda not. I've seen too many cases of stuff like women or straight people being looked down on by others. Same with younger furs. As well as yeah we say 'We aren't like those people', but then I haven't really seen anything done about them besides being ignored. Ive met a bit of Furries who got a little too friendly with me way too quickly, and admittedly I'm guilty of just brushing them off. Theres a good bit that needs to change, I really hope the fandom will get better than it's current state.
Beta, just know that whatever shit show happens to you or...something like that
We’ll stick by you no matter what because you’re like one of the best furry content creators ever, and that’s a fact, and other can agree, right guys?
Also, yeah, the furry fandom is a great place, but it can get really toxic, via discord or Twitter or any social media platform, but it’s not just that, it’s also irl at cons, shit happens.
And I get all what you’re saying Beta, what your saying are facts, and I respect that man, because you’re one of the furries that has that common sense, and is a chill furry.
And I loved the high school cafeteria example, that was funny
I legit had a 3 hour mental breakdown. Crying to my eyes where blood shot because, some bullies at my school decided that that day was the best too belittle me. Usually that doesn't bother me at all but they caught me on the wrong day. He started moaning loudly and mocking me so I turned at him and said, "I feel so sad for you, you don't have any confidence unless you take away other's." I added some uh spices in there if you get what I mean. But after that class I couldn't take it so full mental breakdown for 3 hours. Yay! But I am honestly just waiting for the day one of them lays hands on me.
Oof beat the shit out 9f them next time they do that, they will regret it
That's sad, sorry that happened to you, hope someday this fuckers feel the same.
Hey try beating them up believe in your strenght i havent fought since 2016 but at the start of 2020 i had a fight with the toughest bully in the school and i beat him with bare strength lol
Wow sorry that happened to you and I’m gland u stood up to them BTW have a nice day.
The fact that people are seriously responding with "beat them up" genuinely scares me.
Escalating a situation is literally never the solution to solving it. Violence makes things worse especially when you're just in school.
My advice is to just not respond to those people at all. Once you get out of school youll never be forced to be near those people again, and they can go on in their lives and continue to be unhappy with themselves.
Highschool especially is rough and petty and stupid. Teenagers have this terrible thing in their heads where they are so focused on being judged, that their first choice is often to try and pick out someone who is "even weirder" than them. I think they just want someone else to bully so that they don't get bullied themselves
So don't give them ammunition, just stop responding to them as much as you can. It's hard i know, ive been there. Just stick it out for now and in a few years youll be able to surround yourself with people who don't care about you having a hobby
As people grow up they become more open minded, generally speaking. Making fun of other people falls out of popularity, i promise.
This is why I enjoy watching Beta. He gives his experiences, puts them into depth and thought, separates the bad from the good, and shares them with the younger generation of the fandom (like me, a 17 year old) so that we can make a better future for the fandom. I always take his videos into thought and process them. I really do think that people are over sensitive these days. Thank you for all the information and suggestions for the future of the fandom Beta. I appreciate it
Heh, this guy's gonna move over to _just_ Twitch, if that beginning rant is anything to go by... And video games count as "art" too... But I don't know any notable Furry ones that aren't cutesy/erotic in some way. Still waiting on a MK-Style Furry fighting game
Anyway... In the end, *Willfull* Stupidity and Ignorance is exceedingly harmful... Convincing onseself that another person/persons won't ever deeper than at first re-/perception is perfect way to create Strawman-Style "bad guys" one can rag on; the world is actually varying shades of gray/grey and there are darker and lighter bits, but it usually sticks to the center græyness.
Also, when it cones to Furries being Oversensitive to criticism: There's a degree of truth of that but, to me, maintaining a relatively detached/neutral and thoughtful tone is possibly a better way of going about delivering criticism and a way to prevent generally inflammable arguments. But it seems most people just leap directly into ad-hominem and attacks on character... That's mostly on the Internet anyway.
Hey what you say about a furry fight in game....watch out I think the next 20 years, I’m wanting to make a Soulcalibur, Ghost of Tsushima, or Skullgirls style game involving my characters. That would mean copyrighting them, or making them private domain, and I don’t want that, but I really would like to direct or concept a fighting game
While I haven’t stumbled across a MK style furry fighting game, I do know about a smash bros styled one that’s actually super good. It’s called Rivals of Aether and if you’re into platform fighters, then you have to check it out as I personally believe that it stands on its own as a real rival, pun intended, to smash bros, rather than just lurking in its shadow.
Thank you for this. These are all issues I've dealt with in the fandom and why I've shied away from it. I'm hoping that one day it can grow out of all of this.
As an aspiring writer/Furry writer myself I hope that more furry writers can get recognition. There are some amazing writers/and stories out there. A genre I didn’t even know existed before entering the fandom is “Furry noir” furry detective stories, etc. Hopefully more furry writer and musician groups will come together to discuss ideas, make friends, etc. That would be awesome.
Great video discussion Beta! 👍🐺
I can relate. I am a writer, and I haven't sold one book at three furcons. I've even had one guy pick up one of my books, riffle through the pages, and then say, 'Where are the pictures?" Later, in a comedy skit I wrote, then performed, I gave an answer, 'This is a novel filled with WORDS. The PICTURES come into your HEAD when you READ the WORDS'.
Bruh my little brother is like that ._.
I think this is a pretty interesting take from beta that I haven’t heard that I haven’t been interested in, in a while
You've got to be the most down to earth furry content creator on this platform. I really appreciate the critical angles you come from and that you don't just ignore the issues of the fandom and act like its the perfect little world that many furries (including my past self) seem to have firmly drilled into their heads. Obviously in many ways it's great, otherwise, y'know, would we even be here? but its still always important to have the outer awareness to address these problems.
This is a great discussion and I feel more people, not just furries, should listen and hear this.
Agree.
Certain people don't know how to socialize properly and kinda end up ruining fandoms for both creators and fans sadly.
Yep, but not all btw...... I think?
I think we could all treat each other better in the fandom. I've seen this massive idol worship of some of the more popular artists and agree with the "they can do no wrong" bit you brought up. I've called it "white knighting" because people will bend over backwards to forgive, excuse, and defend people's actions that anyone else would be rightly criticized for and they do this because they think it will make them this person's friend or they'll get some kind of attention. we gotta start treating everyone more equally regardless of what they do in the fandom.
Loving that you’re for the furry musicians!! There might not be too many of us, but it’s a wonderful little place
Yayyy!🖐
Amen
Bless you all ☺️
As a furry myself, there’s some things that I dislike about the furry fandom
I disagree, but I won’t judge you though, you can have your opinion
I can definitely agree with you, there is some rough spots in the fandom
As much as I love this fandom and and a proud member of it I won't deny this fandom has got some issues
Let me guess it's NSFW side of the fandom ?
Same
My biggest problem is that there is literally no division between sfw and nsfw art anywhere... That upset me deeply
I completely agree with you. Books, stories, songs, and many other types of furry literature/art are definitely pushed aside. Furries typically don't showcase a book rather than someone's fursuit, but they both take their own kind of work to make and both have their own appeal. That's why the Jules Verne of the furry fandom won't get as much recognition as someone who's only had one good drawing. There does need to be a balance. If there's someone who is constantly recreating the furry Mona Lisa, that's great! They deserve to be respected, but we also need a new, fresh style of furry appreciation. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, and their talents should shine through. But ALL of the different types of art should be considered as a masterpiece in its own way, because the skill some people have is sometimes ignored. We do need to make a change. Beta, I think you're right.
I've been curious about furries for a while now and I feel this is a good starting point for my deep delve through this rabbit hole of the internet. I think it would do well for the furry fandom and the brony fandom to maybe do some coop projects. I know that we have a lot of great musicians and writers, so that would likely help you while slowing the inevitable death of the bronies. The fandom is at a hiatus and I think some cooperation would be nice.
I saw this kind of video coming, what with all the "furries ruin everything" stuff
Beta you should really consider a podcast, I honestly love just laying down and listening to you talk it makes my day :D also you have a lot of insight about the whole community so it would be good
I agree!
3:30 As a furry musician I see exactly what you mean, I've experienced everything you mention about music (and art you cannot see in general)
i love your chatting streams cause there like podcasts with live footage
Its also really important to have other interests, if you are stuck in the furry fandom that may not really be healthy. I like anime so I also go to anime cons. People are people and that's what makes of those spaces, you have to try so others will too!
Beta is speaking very truthful here, many may disagree but many may also agree too! there is so much to say but Ive been feeling all of this and the whole "2020" thing has hit hard for everyone... we need to work together again...
Every now and then something reminds me of just how much I'm in my own little niche community within the furry fandom and slightly outside of it, 'cuz I'm sure this is all about larger issues but none of it applies to pretty much anyone I know much about. You named all those "furry memers" and I didn't recognize any of their names.
Can't tell if this is a blessing or a curse. Haha.
I get what your going for, and as far as clout goes and “idolization” that’s not just a furry thing, that’s a human thing.
But things definitely aren’t the best, but I feel a lot of it just has to do with the fact that “furry” in most sense tends to be online. Yes, there are many in person meetings, conventions, etc. etc. but the fact that a large portion of interactions are online kind of ( for lack of a better term), infuses, the fandom with internet culture.
Also, artists and fursuiters are definitely the top of the totem pole as far as popularity goes. And acts as the “face” of the fandom. I have a sense of what a furry writer might be, but I’m kind of confused as to how that’s an actual genre, same with music. This may just be me being new to this whole fandom, but when I think music or writing I can’t really figure out how you could “furry” those works
I assume the music and writing would have furry-related subjects or characters? Like a novel would have anthro characters instead of humans? I am also new to the fandom and not really sure how that would work.
And relating to your "online" comment, that's probably true. Aside from furry conventions and furmeets, I feel like the majority of furry-related things take place online (especially lately, due to COVID). It's also possible that the fursuits, when we do meet up in real life, bring the escapism of the fandom into the real world, furthering the detachment of reality. Or something.

I can already tell this is just going to be a slightly edited twitch stream of beta
I like how well you explained when you where when talking about this subject. It's a great reference point I can use when explaining some of my views to friends.
The problem with twitter is that there's a word limit so people have to lop off a lot of what they want to say in order to make their point fit the format. Even in threads, when you can make them as long as you want, the same sort of thing happens. So there's not much room for nuance when you're making a point, and people tend to feel as though the initial tweet is inflammatory or that the person who wrote it was angry, when in reality its a bit more complicated than that. Also furry Twitter is a very insulated space, and a lot of the things I see on twitter doesn't translate at all to furries on RUclips or insta cuz those circles have their own unique set of problems and they hardly ever interact. So when I see people say things like "I hate this fandom", they really just hate the specific circle they exist in. Overall a great video man I just thought I'd add that in cuz I think some people don't think about that
Honestly, part of me feels like calling furries a fandom or grouping everyone up is kinda impossible. I was drawing furry characters when I was just a smol, before I even used the internet often and all, didn't know what furries were. It's such a simple concept that can be expanded on and is already so massive that everyone is never on the same page. I'm a furry but I don't know half the drama that goes on and don't care to know, and I've met many other furries like that. It's less like a fandom and more like a --nation, as cheesy as that sounds. So many different groups, cultures, takes on the fandom- it's like an idea, and everyone handles ideas differently. Personally, I don't use twitter or tumblr or instagram, etc etc, since those websites always irk me the wrong ways sometimes and I don't really like human societies and their incessant drama all that much. Part of it is probably cause of my social anxiety, but the reason I find comfort in the furry fandom is that-- while humanity is often depicted as the ultimate suppressor of other creatures, furries have dreams and ideas where the animals and humans are combined in a way to where no creature is being tortured in meat markets etc etc- separating ourselves from the dominating species of humanity and expressing ourselves in species much more intuned with the peace of earth and nature while still keeping traits to humans that we can relate with.
That's why I'm not really interested in furry drama. I just feel like it has a deeper meaning than being defined by the shallower parts- might just be me, tho.
I love how level headed you are. Keep up the great content! Always love hearing your take on things.
i love the captions and how one is "Nonutnovember"
On a more serious note I agree with you that it's wrong to demonize before using rational thought.
Id absolutely love to sa a video on musical talent and or writing talent in the fandom. I only know a few of each and definitely want to see more . Its sad that that big part of the creativity gets pushed aside.
My man this is some really good stuff. Just hearing you go off and ramble is really good
Very well put! I've never been incredibly active in the fandom due to just being overly anxious about a lot of these issues, and I agree with a lot of what you said and I feel like it needs to be said more often!
I’ve been a furry for like 6 years or more now, and yet i’ve barely even touched the actual community aspect of it all. So far i’ve just been here for the art and not really much else. And if i’m honest, i’m not sure on _how_ to engage with the community-
So seeing all the drama that goes on, and the rampant issues and problems, and just the whole dumpster fire it seems to be represented as-
Idk, it’s weird. It’s like i’m watching a hurricane rage along while i’m standing at a safe distance, lookin through whatever debris lands near me.
Which is kinda the same stance i have with politics, cause i don’t even dare touch that-
But i have to ask, am i wrong for not engaging with this stuff? Am i bad person for choosing to not be a part of what seems to be an integral part to all this..? Sometimes it feels like i am, but idk-
If you're happy with what you're doing, I don't think there's a problem with it. I don't think you _need_ to engage in the community to be a furry and enjoy other aspects of the fandom. But if you do want to try to get more involved, I'd say you should start small. I joined Furry Amino because I heard that's a popular platform for furries, but I felt really overwhelmed. I mostly use it to just look at the featured art and I rarely comment. Then I found a Telegram group for my local area, and I felt much more comfortable conversing with them and interacting. It helps me feel like I'm actually part of this community without overwhelming me.
So my advice would be to try to find a group for your area first. Of course, I've only been a furry for three weeks, so who knows how relevant my advice actually is :P
@@drygonfyre I agree with you on that. You don't neccesarily have to be deep in the fandom to know that to interact with people, you should start small. Take this for example. Alot of people in this comment section are probably furries. Just drop a comment in the section or say hi. Tons of people here might bw a bit akward, but most people that might respond are probably a bit outgoing, or at least feeling confident. Who knows? You might make great friends, or meet some really strange people. Idk where I'm taking this now, but I'm bored and watching RUclips, so more advice time. If, in the situation in which you find yourself feeling like you wanna do something, but don't know where to start, you have tons of options. If you like games, find a group of welcoming gamers. If you like music, find a furry music artist and look around in the comment section, or find a fan discord or social media of sorts. Same thing goes for a lot of other things. Take Discord. It's free, has plenty of welcoming communities, many of which have amazing people (There are always gonna be bad apples in the bunch). You could make friends and have fun. A problem with that might be social discomfort. Trust me, I know what it feels like to just be in a situation where it is so unbelievably akward that I wanna cease to exist. What I usually do is just brute force myself to say hi, and it gets easier from there. I also found this game on roblox a while back when I still played it. It's called Furana, and usually has like 400 people on it from what I remember. (I haven't played roblox since I was like 14 so I have no clue). Other than that, there are plenty of places to chat or get into discissing cool furry things. To sum all of this probably terribly written rant up, there is so much to do, and if you find yourself in a struggle to get the corage, ask a friend to pump you up! Trust me, it works.
PS. I have bad spelling because I'm typing on a phone, plus I am too lazy to actually check my writing. Nonetheless, have a great day, if you do choose to see this, idk.
Honestly I completely agree with this entire video,, especially with the fact that most musicians/writers/any other hobby that isn't visual art are usually not given much attention :( It's really quite upsetting.
You trying to become the new Trevor noah? “The daily furries doing random shit with beta”
In all seriousness nice vid, I normally don’t listen to rants but this wasn’t bad at all and I learnt a bit
Ok I love Furrys and rlly everyone furrys are just the nicest people I've met before. And this is all I see on my recommended. Thank god my family doesn't go through my phone RUclips and twitch ^^
This video traveled a lot in concepts! Regarding the earlier topic of music and writing not getting as much traction. I listen to a lot of content creators on RUclips as audio only (podcast esk). It’s not necessarily visual.
I used to admin a fairly big server. I can confirm that the people who get respect are the people with expensive fursuits and lots of art. even if they've done illegal things and been abusive to others, they're "right" because they have the status quo
Definitely agree! I love the music and writing in the fandom more than the art and suits. I have some recommendations for musicians and writers in the fandom if you are interested. If not, definitely search up!!!
Few things, with something like music the association with the fandom can be far less obvious so it may not even be that people don't want to support it, but rather that it's harder to find.
For Video vs written work, video may just be a superior/more advanced medium. A video will contain all of what an article will contain and much more so I'm not surprised that they get more attention.
Also, I am aware that Fuzznet World is a thing if anyone wants to find some furry music creators.
On the "people aren't evil" point, we seem to be going in the wrong direction as a society on that one.
Me as a fur... I have things that I absolutely hate
Drama
Zoophiles/Pedophiles
Hypersexualisation of general content
Hypocrisy in some fandom members
Toxicity
And a long etc.
But I still like this fandom...
Because here I found a lot of people with similar interests as me... Making me feel comfortable and confident with myself knowing that I'm not the only weirdo here....
Appart with the supportive and inclusive that the people of the community are! Including the great creativity that people have. Making me inspired
Also I made some friends that someday I hope to meet in real life!
(Big Greet to Pikoo and RedPandaGaming
Maybe I told ya a lot of times... Thank you... For being here for me... And I'll still supporting... Wherever you are.. I'll bring my support).
And thanks fandom... For basically help me to make a change in my attitude
Yeah, those are the things I hate about the furry fandom too. I know “hate” is a strong word but, yeah. Besides those things though, I still like the furry fandom!
Just a guy who give likes 😁👍
I will be real to you. When I read this... 20 minutes later... My reaction was like
AAAA! Why I didn't realise that..
Your comment... I was in another things... Until half an hour ago! Seeing RUclips vids
Oh thanks mate
Meme moment: 1:20 The same guys spamming the question
The guys Rping
Me in that precise moment:
*Sarcastic voice*
Oh! Sure find who of them were
Beta is definitely into inflation... Of his lifejacket when he needs it as a very important flotation device
I guess
Amen dude. Nothing but FACTS here. Now, as a fellow furry I can confirm that I have seen other furries like this that are into or do the stuff that was described here. Which just makes me feel dissapointed.
Idk what to say about this. I'm not into the community itself but I've seen a lot. I can't understand why most furries are into that stuff, like cute art, fursuits, paws, etc... And everything else doesn't get enough love or support. It feels like most of the fandom don't appreciate the other arts like writting or music... That's just sad man.
I'm really into art myself but not exclusively to cute art, its nice to see it every once in a while but not that much either. Fursuits not my thing either, I never like those kind of costumes myself. But I do acknowledge the effort put into them, I respect the effort behind it.
I definetly agree that furs are sensitive, cuz I seen it and man I have to say its annoying. Makes it hard talk to them without "hurting" their feelings cuz they take so seriously (For some damm reason). Like its really hard to take furs seriously cuz of this behaviour, its just pitiful.
Again, I don't have too much experience within the community itself, but I am watching over them and all I can hope is that videos or statements like these spread awareness of what to NOT DO in the fandom, as a furry or as a person in general.
Its not about who's the cutest, its not about cute fursuits, its not about RPs, and above it all, its not about popularity.
Its about limitless creativity.... Its about friendships...Its about self discovery.
Like some of you, I also want to see improvements in the fandom. But awareness mean nothing if people won't take action.
Hey! A suggestion for the "ship" thing you could make it more like a bestie thing like instead of shipping them as lovers you ship them as beasties or friends it's cuter and more wholesome and could open the eyes of some people who knows! Or you could make a joke/pun about it where if these 2 furies were on a cruise ship how would they ruin it lol 😂
A lot of good points in this video (espicially when it comes to ignorance etc.). Good to see someone with a following talking about it.
I dont know how to get into the furry fandom? And how would it cost to make or buy one
YT streams are... interesting. That’s the best way I can describe them lol. I just embrace the spam to get rid of the other issues with live chat
Hi Furry memes!!! I watch you're vids too.
(Here's a like 😁👍)
Your the only furry youtuber I watch cuz your not always in fursuit. I watch for the guy, not the fursona.
Would love an explosion of furry literature that is not fetish stories.
JUST KEEP GOING! IM NOT A FURRY, BUT RESPECT IT!
THERE'S A FEW OF YOU I REALLY ENJOY LISTENING TO!
👍
11:50 Thought everyone needed to hear this
I won’t lie, I thought this was gonna go in a different direction but I’m glad how the video turned out to be, just an honest discussion about some issues in the fandom
I think a part of the issue about sensitivity is the fact, that as you said, furries here want to be authentic, be themselves. Peel off the everyday mask a lot of them wear. By doing that you expose yourself - and partially loose the ability to brush off things that hurt you. I feel like getting mad and reacting by blocking(just yadda yadda, what Beta said in the video)is natural and hard to control, if you willingly give up the "armor" when coming to a "safe space" that is in this case the furry fandom.
Of course that doesn't justify transphobia, xenophobia, you name it. What Beta said is 100% true and i agree, just felt like this could be an addition! Being understanding about this is very important.
btw, im sorry if this is weirdly phrased or if you spot major grammar mistakes. English is my second language.
I'm a furry and I know that this fandom has its flaws.
Is it weird this is making me feel bad about not watching the livestreams on twitch?
Beta spittin straight facts
Getting away from horrible things? It happened with one person on RUclips
Sensitevness? Of course. Sometimes the overly being anyone, even cute can be slightly disturbing.
Thanks for the vid, gonna share it around.
Before that video, after you watched the Fandom your content has become slightly different, but we need a Furry who spits truth without turning ut into a hecking joke or trying to not be overly offensive (Always someone with a broomhandle up their arse can take criticism of their ways bad)
Stay healthy folks!

ARE YOU TOP OR BOTTOM??
I usually just lurk, but wanted to say I love your vids and wish I'd express myself more so you can see it's not just all that, but it's just not who i am.
Hope you get that there are plenty of people like me though, that love your stuff and just don't comment
I had a pretty big stint with a friend one time, but instead of hating each other forever(childhood friend), we rationalized and found what we were happy with each other. An agreement to disagree and I have to say, most of that awkwardness has completely disappeared. We still have some of those times, but it's nice how heartwarming a reunion can be. We still remain friendly to this day and that gives me hope.
Damn, I'm sorry if I've been doing this kind of stuff lately, I honestly need to take all of this in personally and in a new perspective. I've been focused on only myself and only my Fursona and nothing else, I need to realize that this is a community and that there are other people and also problems with the community, and I need to keep that in mind, and that I need to find that balance on how I treat people and how I judge them. Thank you for the video.
The premiere was really fun and informational !
At first when I read the title I was like, "Here we go, another relentless bash of furries". But after watching the whole video, I saw a very well constructed criticism for the fandom and how it can be improved. And I agree with a lot of points, and I do also find sad that musicians and writers don´t get as much attention.
"art, fursuits, content"
*AND* *PERSONALITY* !!!
thats what i focus on..
You do not have any content, but I like the icon.
I 100% agree with what you said. The Furry Fandom certainly has issues. Big or small.
When I see a meme (that isn't racist, homophobic, inappropriate, rude, not nice, or in bad taste or whatever) shared by someone and I think it's funny, I want to share it with other people. I'm well aware there are some people that won't find it funny. And that's ok. Just move on. Do somebody else.
I find it annoying that someone has to turn a dumb harmless meme into dumb drama and try to beat me down, as if I did something wrong.
"He posted an unwholesome meme! BAN HIM." To me that's really petty and unnecessary. There's no need to argue over a dumb harmless meme.
I had another incident where I used to be a moderator in a telegram group I used to be in, and someone with a foreign name joined. Note, it wasn't just "foreigners" joining. It was non furries that may or may not have been bots. Since none of them replied to those that greeted the new users, we all assumed they were bots. I actively removed the bots.
When the foreigner joined, and removed it later, someone (person D) in the chat had said: "what a strange name." I suspected person D might be racist, but I didn't want to directly say it. I had no proof. So I just asked them why they thought that way. They pretty much said along the lines of "because we're in an English speaking chat room. They shouldn't have a foreign name."
Looking back, neither of us knew whether this foreigner could speak English or not.
Then someone else, person F, randomly jumps in the conversation to say that I some how think people that have the same name as me shouldn't be allowed to have that name and should change it. Although I've made similar tweets in the past, made jokes that they should change it, but I've since been over it. I wasn't serious about them changing their names.
Person F went on to make assumption about me when they knew nothing about me. So I called them out on it. They denied it, and decided to harass me even more. I felt a ban necessary. I then got demoted. Mod status removed.
I left on my own terms. The chat was toxic.
I just wanted know why they thought the way they did. Nope. The admin didn't want me to do that. As if understanding others was a bad thing.
Sorry for the somewhat wall of text.
Wow that's tough buddy, here's a like for you're troubles 😁👍
I can agree with this boi!
This was very educational, I'll try to keep this in mind. Also just out of curiosity, is the writing part just writing and stories in general? Cause I should probably look into that.
Why does he look like a skunk in the thumbnail
It's an art piece he commissioned for Skunktember
And Beta mentioned he likes big fluffy tails in his Wickerbeast video.
@@abthedragon4921 oh, thanks for telling me
"Pinecone fursona" holy shit that got me, I'm calling them pinecones from now on lmao
Could try to get the artists and writers together for some form of media..? I completely see the whole "art does better in the fandom".. Huh.
I love all your vids Beta, keep being you
I second that!
Liked 👍
@3:50 -- oh geez. I'm in the minority here. I found out about FA and general furry from a hacked In The Groove machine. It had a furry dance game in it, Mungyodance. There was a furry artist, Renard, that made music for the game, also the game itself. So, I came in for the music.
I originally became a furry as a joke, I was in middle school and people made fun of me and back then I was more comfortable being made fun of and joking about it than I was trying to fit in. But when covid hit I had alot of time on my hands, so eventually I ran out of things to do, and I by the luckiest chance I could have had I stumbled upon your "mom dad I'm a furry" video, and after watching it I had a few things that I realized I'd been looking at from the wrong perspective for years, so then I decided to research it myself, and now I finally have a decent gist of what the fandom is from my point of view from what little experience I have had so far, and I fully intend on trying to help it grow in any way I can, and I will always try to treat people well even in cases where I may not be treated the same by them
Got a furry dating site add before watching this-
I feel the pain... i was once trying out discord streaming with live chat and it... got ... out of hand
100% with you like me and my fiancé went to our first fur meet and I have never been so bored in my life they had no personality what so ever...
The furry fandom is pretty naturally visual. And yes we do need to more effectively look behind surface appearances but I think that’s a problem in more than just the furry fandom
Yes, we need to not be so overly sensitive. My brother made a comment to me: "If you're on the Internet, someone out there is going to hate you." So I say, brush it off.
And I don't remember the source, but someone said that villains see themselves as the hero in their own stories. As you implied, they do what they feel needs to be done for the greater good, but everyone else sees their actions as "evil."
Like the message of this, very important and i hope people can grow and benefit from this, and then i noticed the hashtag and i was all like, "What the fu-"
As a writer, I just gotta say thank you! Nobody in the fandom cares about anything but the fursuits and art.
Returning to this video, I visited a furry world on vrchat and was having a nice convo with someone and their friends came up and started dirty talking to them about sexual stuff while I was sitting right there.
I was so uncomfortable, I said I had to get off to sleep. I'm an adult, but as a woman too I really don't like people just bringing sexual stuff into a public thing and especially infront of barely new friends. :(
I think we should have a community name for people who just want to have fun and chat instead of bringing up really sensitive NSFW topics to people who hold that at a more sensitive point.
This is some of the best things I have heard since I've joined.
There are so many good books and I try and buy them when I find them
Being a furry is nice but it’s rather expensive X3 not the greatest hobby unless u got money to spare :/
Yeah true
Ya mean how we are basically simps for our self created imaginary characters? XD
all you need is an interest in anthropomorphic animals
I mean, it doesn't necessarily NEED to be expensive. I've been in the fandom for almost 2 years and I've only ever spent money on art supplies. I've spent Amino Coins too, but I'm not counting those, since it's virtual currency you can get for free. Other than art supplies, I've never spent a dime on the furry fandom, and I think it's a great hobby! It's fun and I feel accepted :3
Being a furry *can* be expensive, but it doesn't *have* to be. There's free to use lineart and bases, you can do art trades, write stories and roleplay, attend online conventions, and talk about your characters with people all for free! The furry fandom is very much what you make of it, everyone has different values on the different aspects of the fandom and i think thats really awesome :)
