Good move sticking with the cassette toilet!
We went from cassette to compost, now back to cassette. It's actually easier to empty the cassette tank than the composting bin!
We stuck with gas also, though the builders wanted us to go full 240v.
Never had an issue with gas.
Keep up the great work 👍

Love your new van. But why do Australian manufacturers insist on putting the Control Panel over the kitchen area?? 👎It should be located in the storage area above the battery equipment! (Also shortest cable run). The kitchen storage area should be for convenience when cooking. Beck has cooking ingredients and sauce bottles above the battery location when they would be far more conveniently situated in the kitchen overhead locker...
The storage pockets are a real great idea and extremely handy.
Truma gas heating is quick and warms fast, but is a little thirsty if used continuously in cold conditions.
Thanks for the internal tour. Exciting brand new customised van. Frank🙂

We went with full solar/battery and induction for cooking combined with a new portable Honda EU32i. We find food and water requires management before our power ever does. Only time the geno comes out is in really cold environments.

I can back the white 100% Bec, we have white and 3 boys under 9 and admittedly ours is gloss white but I love it, I would always go white again. Also the windows we have the same ones and love them. Your kids are old enough to not break them the same way my 2 year old did (kicked the block out panel when the perspex was open and ripped it off its runner) but it was a simple fix with a bit of silver tape so no worries since. We have white fly mesh though and next time would definitely get black as it shows the dirt and bugs get rolled up in there often lol. Your comment about them needing to use magnets in the windows is spot on Bec! The twin latches on the big window are a pain in the butt but would still prefer them over the concertina style any day. Love the window above the bed head, I don't know why all vans don't have it! Two things I love about our van that I haven't seen in other vans: I have a rail under my overhead cabinets in the kitchen that I hang macrame fruit baskets on, I actually also hang a hook off there that's meant to go on a pram handlebar and that's how I hang my bananas. I keep them in a bunch and hook them by their hand so no basket needed 👌bananas are a bit cumbersome in a basket I've found. I also hang the kettle off it when I want to get it off the stove but not burn the bench top. We also have a custom height over the bunk beds so the whole van height steps up about 6 inches over the rear of the van so we have a higher ceiling back there. It allows more generous head height for each bunk and it is noticeable. I am 5'10" with long legs and I can lay in the bunks with my knees bent and not touch the bunk above. We love it. Also this is particular to our brand of van but we have a rain water catchment system and it is 👌👌👌👌👌 cannot rave about it enough! When it rains and your caravanning full time it's a full on buzz kill but the rain water catchment is a silver lining. It is the only good thing about rain while caravanning! We can fill 240L of beautiful rain water (tastes brilliant too!) in a good downpour no worries at all. Love the new van guys and I was nodding my head pretty much the whole time with every comment you made. I'm interested to see that you went black pack again as I was one of the people wondering about the paint chipping and calcium build up but I do like the appearance so it's good to hear you back it and went the same again.

Love the new van, guys. Re the white; we have a Zone RV, so it’s all white except for the kitchen cupboard fronts. Initially concerned about the all white, I’ve found that a wipe over with a spray made of 1/4 vinegar in water and wipe with a micro fibre cloth keeps everything slick and span, even though we have gloss all over (not my choice, just standard with the van). Composting loo; we have installed one after 2 standard cassette toilets and it’s a brilliant inclusion. We empty the wee canister every day or so and still haven’t emptied out the poo bit after almost 7 weeks. Enjoy your travels and look forward to sharing your adventures 😊😊😊

Yes, definitely much easier to attach the screen first - even if the blind is half way up. Join them then put the blind up. Our Kitchen window is like that. The others with just the centre click mechanism are easier. The narrow ones can go straight up and click, but I find the wide ones easier to raise the blind to 70-80%, join them, then put the blind all the way up.

All the best cooks use gas. My first microwave was a flat one, turntable was in the top sealed section, it was great for big dishes. White wouldn't be my choice for the walls, lower cupboards, straw, pale timber, light donkey colours, light green, are easier to keep clean. White on the upper cabinets are ok but still hard to keep clean. Natural colours that reflect the outside, not too light or dark. I have a white kitchen, it shows every mark, drip, spill and is a pain to clean. My previous house had pear wood cabinets (Formica) that looked sensational and never showed a mark. I wish I had recreated that look again. 😕 The new trailer is great, I love the large countertops and the family sized table, Bec you won't have to sit on the bed to eat now.
Hope your head recovered quickly, I felt that bump here in Sydney!

Love your van and the colour scheme. The only downside why put the control panel above the kitchen instead above the couch? Then the pantry items above the kitchen for easy access.
Love the van pockets, great storage, which we had them in our caravan when we toured f/t for the last 12yrs.

  • @allthingsaustralia4861

Very nice guys. Got the same brand same colour but smaller van. That colour hides the dirt well. Also have white inside, certainly feels more spacious. I agree with your comment about gas. After a week or two over overcast rain you will be glad you went gas, which you found out.
I found that out two from the off grid experience we have had. We have the gas fridge, keeps everything super cool to.
I did find condensation an issue in the colder areas. Just got to mop around the windows in the morning and air out. I wasn't expecting that when I first got our van but apparently it's very common. We have five in our van too so heaps of hot air.
Also I did notice Sunseeker went galvanised instead of paint. Looking forward to seeing outside of your new van.

I absolutely love this colour scheme and want something like it for our new build. Looking forward to seeing how the white stands up to the dust...! (at the Brisbane caravan show recently, I was looking for colour scheme inspiration and 99% of vans were dark grey and black) What are you using to hang up the hats on your side of the bed Bec? Is it just stick-on hooks? We're going with the compost toilet (new cuddy brand, due from US in August) but it will just be for 2 adults. Would be very interested to know your van and car weights & GCM, as there's been so much talk lately about vans and weights. I'm guessing your vehicle has a high GCM, given all the extras you carry.

Also FYI.... LPG in colder temps changes back to a liquid and you wont have pressure in your tanks. check with your dealer or provider to see if that could be an problem for you or if you need full tanks for colder temps in snow. also hope you water lines or septic lines wont be exposed to freezing temps so hope they are inside and you can blow warm air or stop freezing. same can be said for your batteries.

But for a family your opinion works for you so all good. A bit of detail on your car to karavan charging setup and what did you have to do to the car and how much power you can get from your 200 would be interesting. Unfortunately with kids now in late high school we have to wait but what an experience you have given your kids! I have a couple of questions I was hoping you could answer please. Where did you get the bin set up from in your kitchen? Where are the black fans from? I also notice in newer videos there is a mirror on the cupboard near the bunks. Is that just a stick on mirror? I also love the shelf running across the top of the toilet. Thanks so much! Now onto the next video! 😊

Thanks mate. So the bin was installed at the van factory during build. The black fans are sirocco 12volt fans, you can get them at anaconda now. The sun mirror is from Kmart, just stuck on and the bathroom shelf was also done when van was built 🤙

Love the white in the van, so much bigger feel. I have the same in my campervan. It’s going to be really good having the extra space your kids are getting bigger and fast, good on you both. Love the pocket thingy very good idea. I’m thinking of getting one when I can. Cheers Judy

Great van and videos. Guys Congrats. Love the idea with the coffee machine. We have the same machine and even though it doesn’t move we are stealing your idea in the strap down. Like you we have upped the ante with thee solar and have 2 x 344 ah and 1640 on the roof. You can never have too much Solar. Love that you stick with stuff that has worked for you and don’t change things that aren’t broke. How much solar did you manage to get on the roof. Good fortune and all the best.

Believe me M8 those junk Dometic blinds will drive you nuts in a few months. Retentioning, they don’t rewind as they should, the fly screens come away from the edges. One of the biggest disappointments in our NA Desert Rose. There’s plenty out there to agree with me 😡😡😡😡 I’ve had mine apart several times and one replaced under warranty in the first 6months. Love the rest of the van and look forward to the outside commentary. 👏👏👍 YES the blockout is excellent.

Hi Guys great Vid! Really interested to hear how the gas heater performs, future review?? We recently built a new van and ended up going with the the diesel heater as our research indicated that the gas heater produces a wet heat resulting in humidity and condensation; and that in temps under 2 degrees the heater won’t function as the butane in the gas bottle will not vaporise properly.

Howdy, hot tip for ya. The kids will definitely scratch the inside of the wardrobe door by opening the dirty Landry draw without opening the door the entire way. I would put something on the inside of the door to save it from getting all scratched up. 👌

Love the microwave. I was told once that the only reason they put a turntable in domestic microwaves was so it looked like it was doing something :-) Having to wrap it up every time you move is a pain, if ours dies I will be looking for one of those!
