Thanks for the video. Love them. You are way to nice to your nervous wife. I would have told her the wing was coming loose. We were flying up for dinner in 172 and my wife went to sleep as usual in the right seat. I pulled the mixture out and engine died with the prop windmilling. I then nudged my wife and told her we had engine failure and to look for a good place to land. As we spiraled down she was trying help out. When I worked SLC in the early 80’s we would have never been south with that wind. We went south almost as much as we went east at LAX! Back then we didn’t have that far west runway. Premier driver this might interest you. Western had just picked up the new 737-300. One was coming in one day and the pilot asked me how long was rwy 32. I told him (5400ish feet, IIRC) and he said the book says that was long enough for his new airplane and could he have it. I said sure and he was cleared to land. He landed and stopped at the end. His only comment was that if he ever asks for that runway again, “DON'T LET ME DO IT!!!”

I found your channel a week ago and I’ve BingeWatch sense. You do an excellent job and I really enjoy the way your videos show. Appreciate the way you explain all the steps and the process. I’m impressed with the air traffic control and the way things are done up in the air. I’ve only flown once in my life and it was a 1986. Looking out the window, I saw a jet dart by in the opposite direction looking like it was 500 feet away! Scared the daylights out of me. Glad to learn, through your video, a 1000 foot separation is the standard and now I look forward to flying again sometime in the future. Your approach to Salt Lake City was amazing as was your fly over of the Grand Canyon. Also, thanks for your service and I’m sure flying the F-16 must’ve been amazing! Looking forward to the next video. Fly safe!
Excellent video, most instructive and shows exactly what is really involved in flying an aircraft and landing in such a beautiful scenario. Well done !!! William MacDonald, Scotland.
You are in my neighborhood. Also the giant mine you saw is Kennecott Copper mine. It was the largest cooper mine in the world but I think that has changed over the recent years.
Thanks Greg, for the ride along and the beautiful scenery along the way, it's been awhile I've been in and out of the hospital due to this old agent orange is eating my body from the inside out, it was good again to ride with you, take care and stay safe...
I'm not a pilot but am fascinated with aviation in general. Commercial aircraft into SLC will utilize runways 16L/34R or 16R/34L while smaller and private aircraft typically use runway 17/35. I've never heard of a situation where an aircraft used runway 14/32 which is the shortest runway on the field. I'd imagine 14/32 would be used by smaller aircraft when cross winds are strong in the area. Some of the more prominent landmarks seen in the decent portion of the video include: Strawberry Reservoir at 18:04, Utah Lake and the Provo/Orem area at 19:23; "enormous mine" seen at 22:49 is the Rio Tinto Kennecott open pit copper mine, and finally at 24:30 we get a great view of the southern end of the Great Salt Lake with Antelope Island. Antelope Island isn't really an island at the moment due to much lower lake levels.
Thanks. You are really a nice guy. I was a CFII / CPA years ago. In 1980 Airforce wanted me and I passed the written and medical and I turned them down. I stopped flying. I wanted to be a businessman. My dad retired as a United Captain on the Dc-8. You are a great guy.
Hey, enjoyed the ride, the ski resort you mentioned as you crossed zimmr was Winter Park. My daughter lives there and fun to see from the air. KSLC is a great airport, 31 years as an AMT for Delta and spent a lot of time there. Please keep filming, always enjoy!
That was Kennecott Copper Mine you passed by SW of SLC. One big mega mine, they even have tours! This was a nice video to relax to while working-I'm just a plane nut!
Omaha native. Very cool! We go back sometimes to visit all the restaurants we miss... Big Freds, Runza, Godfathers, Johnnys... the list goes on and on. So many good ones no longer around. Caniglias, 11-Worth Cafe, Sr. Matias. Thanks for the great videos!
I think I still have it and I was paying attention.... when you said rwy 16... I said wow wow wow not 16 is 17... lol. Great flight and video. I haven't flown since 2005, listening to the radio calls still gets me.
Hey Greg, My Wife and I just did a trip a couple months ago. We visited her Aunt and Uncle in Denver, then went to visit our sons friend in Salt Lake City, he's currently stationed at Hill AFB. Thanks for watching!
Being watched by ATC on you tube. Busy flight. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.
Thanks for watching!
Spectacular scenery on the perfect day. Thanks for taking me along.

The editing, tracking cameras, commentary and professionalism is next level. Thanks for sharing your working world with us!
I'm here for my dosage of Premier 1 Driver. Great video Greg, thanks for the trip, see you next time.
As always Greg thanks for letting us come along for the ride
Glad you enjoyed it

Omaha native. Very cool! We go back sometimes to visit all the restaurants we miss... Big Freds, Runza, Godfathers, Johnnys... the list goes on and on. So many good ones no longer around. Caniglias, 11-Worth Cafe, Sr. Matias. Thanks for the great videos!
Thanks for the ride, the last time I landed at Salt Lake was for fuel ferrying a Cessna 150 from Boise to Dallas for fuel and coffee.
I think I still have it and I was paying attention.... when you said rwy 16... I said wow wow wow not 16 is 17... lol. Great flight and video. I haven't flown since 2005, listening to the radio calls still gets me.
Them snow covered mountains remind me of that John Denver classic - 'Rocky Mountain High, Colorado' ! 😎🇺🇸
Hey Greg, My Wife and I just did a trip a couple months ago. We visited her Aunt and Uncle in Denver, then went to visit our sons friend in Salt Lake City, he's currently stationed at Hill AFB. While we were there we went to Park City had some lunch and did a little shopping. This Video is a little like Deja vu. Of course we were flying commercial.
