I started to train at the beginning of last year, it was all good, the summer came and I went on holiday for 2 months. Then I went back to it and just when everything was starting to go well again, the winter holiday came and I left for other 2 months. Thx, John for all ur videos. Ur down to Earth and straight with all ur info. Was wondering if you could touch on the differences in "calories" since a lot of guys seem to think a calorie is a calorie.
    Reason I ask is becuz there's a lot of mis-info around and it misleads people into thinking all they gotta do is eat like a viking and they'll get big like a tank and gain the muscle.
    To make my point, carbs are not all the same...neither are proteins or fats. Throw in fiber content, glycemic index and bio availability, digestibility and there's a difference in each macro nutrient that can swing the scales toward either fat gain or loss...even if the calorie count is the same.

      @@Tailionis This is a myth. Modern research shows that total daily protein intake matters far more than how often you intake protein. If you have good training program focused on increasing volume you have to eat a lot to recover for the next workout.
    If you are not hungry, you don't push yourself enough in the gym!

    Agreed.... gym not open. In fact my gym has put so many screwed up restrictions and one way paths and they took out really great yet old machines and replacing them with new crap. So, my wife and I signed up to a new gym.

    #2 was my life until 2018 when I smartened up. I would train for months then stop, for months then stop. I am a good size naturally (185lbs at 18% at 5'7") for someone who didnt put my heart into it, now at 29 I got my ass in gear with a goal of a regional show win in 2-5 years time.

    Great video! When it comes to training to failure, would you periodize your training so that way you increase intensity so say start at 3 RIR and work up to 0-1 RIR? I’m not sure if I should include going to and beyond failure in every week of my mesocycle. Thank you and keep up the great work!

    • @mountaindog1
      @mountaindog1  4 года назад +1

      basically the answer is yes. As you training progresses, you add some intensity as you go. Eventually you then periodize and back down some.

    Hi John, I'm glad to see you are getting better, Gyms are still not fully opened where I live, one question from me. I'm 65 and 173 lbs, how much protein should I need to gain more muscles especially biceps and chest, which protein I should I eat more protein from foods or protein shakes.

    Great video M Dog great content good points made and tips received as always!! P.S. I was watching another elitefts video with Dave Tate and you and you guys were talking about your high intensity training sessions where you guys had coolers full of ice packs to cool yourselves down so you wouldn't pass out so you could hopefully make it through the workout you guys would ask each other can we do this and you guys would say there's only one way to find out now that's intensity friggin awesome!!!👍👌👏😎💯
