Too many fitness influencers on instagram with stupid workouts, poor supplementation, and "a ziiiiirrrooo" experience trying to scam honest folks. Train hard, eat, sleep, grow. As a beginner I feel like watching John gives me a big head start vs those who are trying to figure this stuff out on their own or following those insta fitness tools. Thanks for the tips John!
Yep. I really wish there would`ve been this much great content out there back in the days when I started training. Had to listen to the "bros" in the gym, read stupid stuff in magasines etc. I still got good results but a lot of unnecessary injuries and stuff.

This is more my style of training. Train hard, especially the last set. I don’t count warmup sets. I still need to relearn how to do tricks on a yo-yo. These videos always remind me of that, haha.
Hi John, this is really great. A lot of influencers put up training videos and workouts but hardly ever go into this much detail on warm up sets, actual sets, getting that crazy pump, all the way to the end. It's really given me an insight to how hard to train. You've got yourself another subscriber and greetings from Derby, England!
Absolutely one of the best and most straight talking training channels on RUclips. From this video I now realize that I'm absolutely going to failure too often in my own training. Thanks for setting me straight, and many others in sure.
I started looking at motivational videos of Tom Platz, Dorian Yates, and Ronnie Coleman.....and man did they psyche me up before a workout. That, with the knowledge I’m gaining from your video’s, cleaning up my diet and training hard and consistently, I’m making great gains. I’m feeling great at 41 and seeing progress I did not think I could make. I truly believe if you apply yourself, you can make progress even in your 40 which I never thought possible. I’m always thankful for your video’s John, cheers💪
I've been watching your videos for a while, and honestly you're definitely still growing even at your advanced level, just an absolute testament to your training styles
Always giving it straight. Old school, no nonsense. Learning so much from your videos, and enjoying Alex's tricks! Hope y'all keep growing and learning together as well.
I'm 38, train each body part twice a week, been training for 2.5 years. Only reps I leave in the tank are warmup sets. Everything else is to failure or as close I can get to failure. I tend to work more in the volume range because of my age. I don't want to mess up my joints at this point. So my "heavy" sets are in the 8-10 range and my volume sets 12-20 depending on which body part.
4:20 i always remember what Dorian Yates would say' "this is the set, all the rest is bullshit" don't quote me word for word but it's something like that - I always enjoy the content, no ego honest and straight talking, plus great insights.
This is perfect advice to me!! Not sure why someone Natural wouldn’t think they should train this way? Since I’ve started doing these beginning sets before I actually push to failure I feel I’m truly getting where I need to be and without hurting myself, it’s odd I actually fell like I recover faster too, this morning I was hitting back and for me if I don’t feel I’m truly hitting failure I’ll just add on another set heavier weight and count that as my work set until my form goes or I can’t lift the weight - I’m finally seeing some good progress following your techniques! Thank you 🙏🏻
Every workout should be better, than the last one. Once you get proper forms and the mind muscle connection, workouts get on another level.
