The only reason he wants your lawyer involved is to cost you money, further dissuading you from ever reviewing these products. And by veiling their measurements they can always claim your measurements are incorrect and use that as a basis for "litigation".

Mr. Alexander -- When you use the "L-Word" in an email, and then PERSONALLY ON VIDEO, talk about "My lawyer has a twenty-minute conversation with your lawyer", THAT is the ENTIRE problem that everyone is seeing/talking about. I'm older than you are (almost 70 years old), but even I know that the "L-Word", having lawyers talk to each other, and "get something accomplished that is good for me", sure sounds like "Sue", and I'm not talking about Johnny Cash's hit song. Just bad judgement on your part Eric, it wasn't a bad review, you should never bring up litigation or even react to an online review unless someone is relentlessly attacking you. None of this would be happening if you had just ignored it, your sales would not have been negatively impacted, and most would have forgotten about it by now. You made a mistake, and this video wasn't exactly the best damage control.
I've never heard your speakers, I've been building my own for 50+ years, so you're not losing any business from me because I would have never been a customer anyway. If this were not the case however, Erin's review would not have deterred me from considering your product. Your response to Erin however would.
Just a suggestion, your best bet now is probably to just be quiet about it and let it eventually blow over. I see a lot of negativity in the comments here so clearly the damage control isn't working. From what I've seen, you have some unique designs and there is a market for that so just let it go, let things quiet down and in time it will be as if it never happened.

It took a while but then it came; “I want the audiophiles to sit down and listen…” He hit on the real issue that bothers manufacturers, like him, these days. A growing group of audiophiles that have learned that measurements (can) say more about what a product could mean to your enjoyment and wallet than subjective sponsored reviews from the snake oil salesmen that has been the driving force in this “audiophile” industry for decades. They all shouted and still want to shout “don’t rely on measurements, rely on your ears” and when your ears aren’t satisfied we can sell you some “better” (read: more expensive) cables. If you get sick and tired from an overdose of snake oil, they happily sell you more of it to “cure” you. This guy’s feelings got hurt from a video that the majority of his (potential) customers won’t even see, because they don’t believe in measurements. By publicly freaking out over it, he has even drawn attention from these people and it’s imploding his business. How stupid (and proud) can you be. It’s a good thing that in the end the manufacturers who are going to take the growing number of audiophiles that understand the value of objective measurements seriously, will have a greater chance of success when they work with these reviewers and customers to improve their products and with that the experience we have as listeners. To Erin and Amir: keep up the good work. This ordeal proved its significance.

    • @ManFromLaBamba
      @ManFromLaBamba 25 дней назад +1

Yes and of course today it is harder to listen to a wide range of speakers in a showroom etc. and the same crowd that pays attention to measurements is aware of the showroom tuned speakers that sound energetic, and super detailed in that setting for the ten mi utes or do you listen to it but end up being fatiguing and unpleasant for longer periods in home settings (which tends to have more reflective walls etc).

High-end audio is a lot like fine wines. Lots of customers who like to believe they can tell the difference but really care more about the emotional sales pitch - the supposed "passion" from the humble "craftsman" - than the wine itself. If it doesn't taste right, "Well, it must be me. After all, it's $50 a bottle."

Sounds like you're the one jumping to conclusions. You could/should have verified the miniscule hump was the result of the feet being left out prior to accusing others of bad/faulty data. The sound quality of speakers is objective and influenced by the environment in which they are situated. On the other hand, properly performed measurements can and will disclose the response curve which will confirm or refute what the listener is hearing.

So I own Tekton speakers (and love them), probably have a larger income than most youtube channel hosts. But regardless of going to court, retaining a lawyer is beyond the normal budget of most people. Telling them to have their attorney talk to yours is a threat, a financial threat. Presumably they're doing reviews with the same measuring equipment on speakers from companies much larger than yours. And they've obviously produced some undesirable measurements on other products. But you're the one with threats. Consumers like myself, do not come to amateur youtube sites to listen to reviewers who are paid by companies, or censored by others. Get the f*** over it and grow up or you'll lose a big chunk of your business (to Tekton). Eric wants to circumvent free speech in America.

Eric Alexander, you totally lost the focus on this one. Independent measurements should be independent, and he has no right to treat any reviewer the way he did here, no matter how justified he think it is. A independent measurement should not be subject to his verification anyway. In that case, we could just publish the manufacturers own measurements... THUS having NO second opinion. Jeez... How many times have manufactures not been "inventing" measurements?
What manufacturers should always be allowed to do though, is to have their say, and defend whatever on the reviewers channel.
Then the consumer can decide themselves! He went about it all wrong here, trying to mis-credit Erin in many little ways in his video.
But seriously, In the end, NOTHING LIKE THIS matters. If he had send a kind message to Erin, explaining what he thought it was, erin would have included it and investigated it as a reviewer caring so much for his integrity, and that he stepped on. That will not end well for Tekton it will hurt, no matter good intentions or not. We need a alliance for reviewers, media and manufacturers that support Honest Reviews striving to Make HIFI great again for a new generation. Nerd extreme wars like this, does not help the image of HIFI. Eric burned both ends coming on to Erin like this. He did not do his homework.

Tekton will need to start dumping prices to survive, when dealers can make more margin they will evidently push the product to consumers who don't know better. Eric said to start publishing in-house measurements (which is a good move), if the data is good and product does performs, it will be great value. The only issue I have after seeing Erin's measurement is the Troubadour really has high multitone distortion (which means the vocals are muffled), if Eric can't solve it, than the Troubadour might as well be dead.

"We seem to continue to have problems with measurements in those reviews" :D
The guy thinks he's the only person who should be allowed to measure loudspeakers. This situation has shown that he, a manufacturer makes mistakes too. The loudspeaker did have poorly constructed cabinet. This isn't the first time this happened. Vance Dickason's work shows plenty of hi-end drivers with imbalanced drive units. It's a direct result of their QC. It's not a problem, it's a REALITY CHECK. Manufacturers are imperfect. Their products are not carbon copies, they have defects, it's happens, it's life. That's why I like brands Sennheiser - they cost a little more, but they fail less than their more aggressively priced competition.
Besides don't you love when business money is chasing people with lawyers? If Eric can't see how abrasive behaviour this is, he should have a reality check. A reviewer is not on even ground with a manufacturing company.
"I have best friends lawyers" - Who knew!? /s

So, I was seriously thinking of importing some Tektons last year but the shipping and import costs were prohibitive at the time. I was still planning to do so at some point. Whilst I found their customer service was responsive in answering my various questions, various people were warning me to be cautious on forums. I then discovered this whole recent controversy and this video really put me off taking a risk on Tekton. Like so many others on here, I am amazed at the way he has chosen to address this issue. I also happen to be a lawyer and am calling bs on the whole notion that litigation meant a friendly chat between lawyers. We all know it does not work out like that. He should have taken a more diplomatic approach and essentially tried to discuss it maturely like he is attempting to do now, but I suspect it is too little too late and the damage is already done.

this is a good way to turn a quite positive review into brand destroying incident, the original quite positive Erin's review now turns into disaster for himself. Now maybe only his long term die hard fans will still support him and new customers will not likely go for his brand, but in hifi world, how long will a long term customer change speakers?
