You do either of those, I put a small fan heater in the night before and turn the lead on in garage before I make breakfast, warm and frost free every time
@@m0d4rx Exactly. Use warm water, not hot or boiling. What do you class as "very low temperatures"? Because a guy I work with, his neighbour used hot water and shatter their front window. It was only about -2 Celsius out. Which isn't what I'd consider to be a very low temp. Warm water isn't the problem. Of which I never said warm water would cause problems. Only hot or boiling.
It's the frost on the inside of the windshield which is usually the issue when you are in a hurry in the morning. I guess I will have to start flinging a cup of water inside my truck from now on.
If you have air con, run it in winter. The heating occurs after the air is chilled so it doesn't come out freezing, but it does come out dry. Helps keep the inside of the car dry so less frost on the inside.
@kevinalexander2787 Your missing something. The temperature, that is the culprit of the problem. Some car and truck door have drains for this purpose, but don't assume they are there. Also if it's cold enough those drains get iced over and blocked preventing any water that does build up from pouring out. On top of which the cold will shrink the gasket material around your windows and key locks. Allowing water to get by them easier. And if you pour hot water of frozen glass then glass has a very good chance of shattering. So I stand with my conviction here that this is harmful to your vehicle. Especially older ones that have weathered window gaskets. I recommend a car cover to avoid this whole subject.
if you follow this guy and use water you'll probably end up with a frozen window you can't put down and a frozen lock you can't open. even on your windshield you'll just freeze your wipers to the glass.
