You talk way too much
That’s a nice back up solution for me. Thanks. I’d still rather use remote start. That way my car is warm when I sit in it
Why do you keep repeating the same statement in different ways? Are you really that untalented you cannot actually have a good video? Never seen a more clickbait time based video in my life.
Except people should be warming up their cars before driving them in cold weather. Starting a car in cold weather and taking off is horrible for the engine and other components. Engine oil is like tar when its cold and does little to nothing for lubricating when its cold. So which is harder on journal bearings and pistion rings running it at idle for a few minutes to give the oil a chance to circulate and warm up or running it at 3000+ rpm to warm it up. Not to mention from an emissions standpoint a catalytic convertor does nothing until its hot. So again idle at 800 rpm to get it hot or drive imediately at 3000rpm pumping out more raw fuel. Which is another problem when your engine is cold its in open loop. Meaning the computer is adding extra fuel to get the engine to heat up and the 02 sensors arent monitoring until closed loop when it warms up. So while you start it and drive off your puking more unmetered fuel in vs just letting the car warm up.
Thank you!!!
when you have to meet the minimum word requirement on an essay, you end up with this video
😂🤣🤣 For sure Could have been 20 seconds, same amount of info
Lmao so accurate😭😭😭
🤣🤣🤣😂😂
You get a thumbs up the video got a thumbs down from me. Yes essay gone bad.
Thank you sir. Perfectly put
Save yourself the data fee, 1:50
2/3 rubbing alchohol
1/3 water in a spray bottle
But how do you put it on. I have no idea how to do anything.
bobbelsekwol spray it dumbass
bobbelsekwol spray it u moron 😂
@@itzzjok3rzz208 whoosh!
He got you guys dead to rights
in case anyones wondering, dont spray this stuff on the rubber moldings around your cars windows. its going to dry em out and cause problems over time.
There are also fabric windshield covers that can be quickly pulled off when you're ready to go. That way, the ice sticks to that and not the glass.
Where do you put the covers after removing them if you don't have a garage?
@@andreafelton689 shaking it off and putting it in a plastic bag works for me. The material is made to resist moisture.
What about if it's a windy night? Does the cover fly off?
@@joer8386 There are two types that I'm aware of. One is thin and can be rolled into the front windows to keep secure, and the second type is heavy and folds up like an accordion. The heavy one could potentially get blown away I guess but I have not had that happen.
@@marinhusky8863 Thank you very much for your response.
Right! This totally works!! On 11/22/19 @0639 in the morning, I tried this and I just stood there and literally watched the ice and snow melt of the window!! Thank you fact verse for showing me this!!! I'm so passing to others here in Wyoming
Yes this works but it raises multiple concerns, especially here in Wisconsin where we just had -50 degrees with wind chills: #1. The use of rubbing alcohol will break down rubber overtime there for damaging wiper blades and the seal around the glass. Could cause costly repairs. #2. Even if this did work within seconds you can’t just jump in your car, start it and drive without that car warming up. It’s not going to run very well and then you’d be stuck on the side of the road somewhere. Seen this a lot the last two weeks. #3. Once you do you start the car and you get into it, the first thing the windshields going to do on the inside is frost because of your body heat and moisture getting put in the car. Then your back a square one.
The best solution is get a remote start installed and warm your car up for 10 minutes without having to go outside or simply park in a garage.
You don't need to sit to warm up fuel injected cars( aka 99% of cars built in the past 20 years.) you're better off actually driving to let it warm up faster
@@jordanadams5902Agreed. Letting your car warm up is a thing some of us did when cars had carburetors. Today, you start the car, let it idle for 15 seconds or so and go. Just drive it easy until it warms up. The best way to warm up the engine is make it do work - not sit there and idle. If you hate getting into a cold car, dress for the weather!! Remote starters just add to the problems of engine idling. I have an idiot neighbor who starts his truck with a remote starter, let's it idle for *15* minutes so it gets nice and toasty inside, and then drives *10* minutes to work where the truck sits all day!!!
Just use a small space heater with an extension cord and a mechanical timer to go on 30 minutes before you leave for work. Ice is gone...maybe even some snow...and the car is actually warm inside. Unplug extension cord before driving away...but I trust that is fairly obvious....
I've been doing it for about 10 years now. This is nothing new but I do a 50/50 mix as not to dry out my wipers and making them crack.
Get you a automatic car starter, leave the defrost on for those upcoming mornings, whole car will be warm when you leave. It pays for itself, trust me. Having a car without auto start to me nowadays is like having Amazon without prime.
Thank you Ken!I'm in California and employed your amazing technique. I was able to get to work on time and safely.👍Merry Christmas🎄
I just wait and let the defroster work but I’m also retired so Im never late.
What concentration of rubbing alcohol should be used? I know it can be bought in the concentrations of 70%, 90%, 95% and I think even 98%. The concentration percentage could affect the ratio used for "so many parts water" to "so may parts rubbing alcohol".
Usually if it says RUBBING on the bottle it is 70% and the ones withouth RUBBING is 90 to 100%
@@piccalopete435 just use a bottle of Jack Daniel then.
Watch the full video and you'll know.
Put Newspaper on your windshield the night before it freezes ..you can peel the paper off with the ice in the morning..
I like how he went through every product effected by this like ThEsE gUyS aRe nOt ToO hApPy
Half water & half vinegar, works too !!
Methanol alcohol mixed with washer fluid will work also. Washer fluid has methanol alcohol already in it but usually not enough to keep from freezing adding a little extra methanol to your washer tank will keep from freezing in negative temps even while driving.
1:50 is when they reveal it. It's a mixture of water and rubbing alcohol
This will work if there's only a layer of frost. If there is a quarter inch of ice, it won't. Good old scraping will be your only option. I live in Michigan, so I've got more than a little experience in Winter conditions.
If you need to thaw ice quickly. use cold water. I have used it carefully and not had any problems. if the frozen glass is 20°f and the water is 50°f, its a 30° rise not an 80+ rise.and even though 50 is cold its 18 above freezing and will melt the ice. use at your own discretion but ive done it on my mirrors several times and windshield a few never any cracks.
What effect does this have on paint or the rubber seals and windshield wipers
It makes sense i normally defrost my winshield with anti feeze, but now i can get the rest of the windows now too, thanks
Rite-Aid pharmacy sells a ready made product off the shelf. It's a 75% IPA and water mixture in a small spray bottle. You can buy a handy refill on the same isle.
Wow a garage is a must here
Keep in mind they sell 3 different strengths of Rubbing Alcohol, 91% 70% and 50%. If you are buying the cheap 50% you probably don't even need to add any water because its already half water.
THANK YOU , YOU JUST SAVEE 30 MINUTES EVETY MORNING.
THANK YOU
But your windshield gets extremely cold when you do this, so interior fogging becomes a problem. It's best to just start your car early
Run your ac for 2 minutes and it will dry the air out.
Get a cat litter in a sock in your car and clean your inside windows and treat them with shaving gel, you will never have foggy windows again.
And it's very bad to start your car idling cold for tens of minutes longterm, because your engine will build up with carbon and you will waste a lot of fuel every morning!
Not such a hot idea😩😂😂
I lived in Hawaii for 11 years. Never owned an ice scrapper. Never had the need to buy one. Moved to the western part of the country. Always buying scrappers. They wear out.
Thanks for watching!
Regular windshield washer melts it just fine. Remotely start your car from inside your home. I never scrape.
Living in the mountains I got up one morning and found there was no milk for my coffee. I went outside to the car and the windscreen was a sheet of ice. I hadn't had my morning pee so I had an aha moment and did it on the ice. I used to have good pressure so I got most of it. Wouldn't have had enough to do the whole car but at least I could see to get down the highway for my milk
I threw a cup of pee on the windshield once because I didn't have any water. It worked well.
Many years ago, I purchased a windshield deicer spray and this is what the instructions said : Start vehicle and turn on defroster. After 5 minutes spray deicer on windshield and let sit a few minuets." I started the vehicle and let it warm up and then returned the deicer.
BE ADVISED:
2/3 rubbing alcohol, that would be approximately 66% rubbing alcohol. If you look around on Google everybody is saying if you want to protect the paint on your car the rubbing alcohol should be no more than 10 to 20%. You may ruin your paint job if you listen to the people that put out this video. Do what you want, but I thought people might be interested to know that.
Has de-icer not been around for like 20 years already?
I was told off my Grandad to put the d icer in the the water bottle of the car The water in the bottle doesn't freeze and then you just spray the water all over the windscreen with the windscreen wipers on and it defrosts within minutes or if you are at home you can use a hose pipe with with very lukewarm water which will defrost the windows very quickly and if your car doesn't start on a cold morning instead of putting blankets and stuff over the engine to keep it warm plug-in a hairdryer
And warm the leads up all these things seem to work for me
So give them a go it doesn't cost you nothing then only for a little bit of de-icer to put in the water bottle
Which you can buy in the pound shop
Save yourself the time in watching this video, the weather man invented a bottle of de-icer.
save yourself the trouble and use windshield washer fluid, it does the same thing, you don't have to mix it, and it's made for the car glass anyway.
3:10 The clock said 10 mins 🤷♀️
Tottenham For life good catch!
Here in Canada we use washer fluid with antifreeze in it.
Is that not, what deicer, shop brought spray is anyhows, in pressurised can etc :) ?.
Yes it is but a spray can of deicer is over 5 dollars and alcohol is like 50 cents!!!!
Bluehealer100 Geez !!! In the UK a can of De-icer is around a pound !! Still....we could do with your car fuel prices here !!!
djc0108 Bottles of rubbing alcohol is about £5 in the U.K., might as well buy de-icer
Stephen Buckley very true !!
I’m, not, sure. Perhaps, you’re, right!
Why buy alcohol when you can use just warm water?
You are not a citizen of Texas unless you have a cracked windshield.
Parking in the garage helps too.
THANKS!! FOR YOUR ADVICE ABOUT THE MIXTURE FOR THE WINDSHIELD N WINDOWS FOR THE CAR.APPRECIATE!! IT VERY MUCH!
Title says seconds, but the run time of this video determined that was a lie.
Great information. Look forward to using it.
Bishop Hollywood The engine still needs to be warmed up you cannot just get in the vehicle put the keys in the engine and drive away that wears out the life longevity of the engine!! But lol you sure can do this spraying method while you wait for that 😁😆🥶
I don't bother with that anymore, since I bought my car a few years back with a heated windshield. Now I wait a few seconds, give it a wipe and I'm ready to go. No more waiting, no more letting the engine run, which is harmful for every engine when it's cold. No alcohol means, no damage to seals, wipers and paint!
Just be sure to dilute it if it’s to strong rubbing alcohol can damage paint!
3:10 a few seconds ? Or is that 10 minutes ? I'll stict with warm water splash.
Thanks Ken for ur idea
Just throw a bucket of COLD water over the icy windscreen .... Works 100%
No one's talking about dude didn't even bother to demonstrate it in the video. 👏👏👏
Many a cracked windshield has developed from spraying alcohol and water on them. The alcohol heats up the glass and the temperature difference and from the glass expansion and the cold glass contracting causes it to crack.
Bad move, at your own risk.
This is fine, as long as you make sure to not get alcohol on your paint.
The bottle of isopropyl alcohol that's shown in the screen grab says 70%, with a mix ratio of 1/3 water, 2/3 alcohol. If your bottle says something like 30% it's probably better to use it straight. (In my opinion)
At 3:11, the video says "10 min". That's more that the "seconds" originally claimed. And, I can clear the windshield faster than 10 minutes with the defroster.
That stuff really only works on thin ice layers. if it's thicker ice it has zero effect
tldr; 2 parts rubbing alcohol, 1 part cold water in a spray bottle.
Better than that I just get SCREEN WASH which is rated to -20°C and use it undiluted in a spray bottle. 5 litres for £5 is much cheaper than rubbing alcohol ( isopropyl alcohol) at £20 for 5 litres. Simple.
Wow this is so Amazing.
Thanks for watching! We're glad to know that you love our video. If we may ask, what other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
@@FactsVerse I’d like to see a how to video on how to drive safely in icy conditions
To save your guys time. The answer is at 1:50 all you need is 3 gallons of boiling water and dump it on your windshield.
Spray on the window and wait 10 minutes? Hmmmm. Start the engine and wait 10 minutes. Seems about the same amount of time
Glockovich if your worried about the environment don’t even bother buying a car then...
Glockovich Engine wear? It’s actually much harder on your motor to start it ice cold and then just start driving it rather than letting it warm up first. Wasting gas? Your vehicle won’t get mileage until it’s up to operating temperature anyways. Environment? Go buy yourself a Nissan Leaf then 🙄
@Luis C. he did say that.
@@Glockovich Spraying anything alcohol is not environmentally sound. Why not just scrape the ice off with a piece of plastic. It take less than a minute
@@Glockovich you are an idiot. Please give me your bosses number. He needs to see your comment. I seriously doubt you know how to change a tire.
I always use warm water..It doesn't need to be hot. Ive never had any prob with screen cracking.I'd be wary if there was already a chip or crack present already tho. This method also stops it misting inside too.
You just knew it was going to involve something you probably don't have.
my car was stolen 😂 too!
1:58. Your welcome.😂
Not a secret. You can add rubbing alchohol to your windshield washer reservoir and it mixes with the washer fluid to do the same thing. I bought an additive 20+ years ago sold in stores that did the exact thing.
This only works on frost and not ice thicker than paper.
@Ran Ng I have come out to a car completely encased in an inch of freezing rain. Thicker than paper doesn't have to mean snow.
Edward M Manns Mostly true. I have used this mixture on freezing rain 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. It did not remove it in 10 seconds but did reduce the amount of time I had to run the car and defroster. It also made scraping easier. I was in a hurry. I used all three methods together.
My Grandpa used to tell us that his grand-grandpa used this trick. Btw I m 87 years young.
I just use strong salt water solution that I mix at home, works probably quicker than in the video
Let's hear it for Ken! Ken Ken Ken Ken Ken
Lukewarm water works for me. Has done for the last 16 years, no cracks yet.
The secret is time lapse photography!
Keep the car in the garage, no need for removing ice.
Remote start.... mic drop 🎤
Man talk big. But man show little.

That sounds just like washer fluid.
My vehicle warms up pretty quick so it would be warm by the time the de froster works
Methyl hydrate in your windshield washer fluid does the same thing and you can sit in your car instead... you can get it at Canadian Tire Stores
smalltownmoto 1 do they have Canadian tire stores in the states? Haha just Kidding! Lol
I put lukewarm water over the roof of my car
But I put that water inside of a kettle , so people think I'm silly enough to pour boiling hot water on the car , lol
after brushing
The thick of it off with yard brush , and when one of my neighbour's come out and says what you're doing is wrong .
I always respond by saying to them do you think I am 60 year old and I don't that lol 🤣 telling them it's only warm water and not boiling water Then they realise I was just messing about
and soon go back in their house
with their tail between the legs I would have thought, so I have the last laugh , lol 🇬🇧 .
You can spray deicer the same way, it works in a couple of minutes
Really???
In Germany we called it, „Enteiser“.
And you can buy it everywhere!
Sucker!
Thank ya KEN!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Keep the car on and let it melt the ice is the best so far. Because it heats up the engine too and that is healthy on the drive of the cold day.
Put the alcohol in your washer tank. No need for a bottle.
Too much time to scrape the ice and frost I was late to school because of the scraping and scraping dose not really work
Stay in school. You need to learn to spell. Dose and does have two different meanings.
You need to wake up earlier then my man
I live in northern Ontario and this solution DOES NOT WORK! Maybe it works in warmer climates like the States, where it barely gets cold, but it sure does not work where I live.
What? American cars don't have heated windshields with little electrical wires in the glass?
Only on the back
There is also front window same kinda wires. Thats fastest and safest way in finland.
My 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis had Ford's Instaclear heated windshield. There was silver and zinc sandwiched between the glass. I loved the way it worked. Frost, snow and ice would melt before the car's heater got warm. I only knew of two drawbacks; the price of a replacement winshield was 4 times a regular windshield, radio waves would not pass through the Instaclear glass. Garage door remotes could not transmit through, radio stations could not penetrate. Even portable radar units couldn't penetrate those windshields to check the speed on an oncoming car.
All American cars come with windshield defroster. This video is for people who hit the snooze button and are running late for everything they do.
@@jeffreytidwell5509 they should be in all cars
Thanks!

We spell it 'ethanol'...Please tell your handlers. We call it Windex.
Wait... ppl didn't know that? It's simple chem you learn in school, i've been using this since i got my license 6y ago and almost everybody else i know... i don't wanna souns cocky or something but this stuff is getting sold in the stores too if you look at it you baseicly know what to mix together to make your own for less money or 5 times of it for the same price
Yea but u still have 2 wait for your car to warm up though
2 parts rubbing alcohol and 1 part water mixed and sprayed.

Better still and this method clears all windows........
Fill a large plastic watering can with luke warm water and pour it all over mirrors lights and windows after brushing off any snowfall (rubbing alcohol wont stop 6 inches of snow build up)......
No risk of cracking and you can power windows up and down and free off frozen wipers too......all in a matter of 30 seconds.
