I've been using a DE shaver that I bought on amazon for very little money (I want to say less than 20 bucks) for about five years now. It's been perfect for me. I can even do completely dry trims on the cheeks just to edge up a bit with no problems. The very best part though, is that I HAVE NEVER CHANGED BLADES. If you open the thing up, take the razor out, rinse it and dry it completely the blade won't go bad. FIVE YEARS on a 20 dollar setup. That's an incredible value! Stop listening to the big corps that want to bleed you dry and start being responsible to yourself and your environment. Completely recommend.

razor+5blades was probably around $20, a package of 10 blades where around $10 seems kind of pricey, but i got 2 packages of each. don't usually see safety razor stuff locally so went for it. blades can get a lot cheaper online though and it's still cheap compared to fusion cartridges.

My first safety razor. I've been using it since December, and I'm happy with it. The blades are not the best, but still good. And I realized that you still have to be careful, even with the closed comb. Gave myself a nasty cut a few weeks back. Anyway, great video, as always! :)

Gillette has gone crazy with their modern cartridge razors, but they know how to make awesome safety razors. I've been using an old Gillette Tech for quite a while and love it. I just ordered one straight from Amazon for $13. Just wanted to get a "modern" Gillette.

With the current cost of living crisis I've been looking for ways to reduce the cost of daily routine tasks. I have to shave every day for work, so figured I'd try cutting the cost of that. Saw this King C in a local supermarket for £25, then the next day it went on sale on Amazon for £10. A quick RUclips search lead me here, then I went straight back to amazon and pulled the trigger. Now I just gotta figure out what else I need to get set up. 👍

She asked me to help her find a DE razor to try out as she was getting irritation when shaving her legs, but she didn't wanna spend much incase she didn't like it.
Suffice to say she loves this little razor and for the £10 i picked it up for, its a steal. Much cheaper than cartridge razors, and better for the environment too!

I bought it a month ago. I'm an intermediate DE user and the razor is great, I'm very very happy with it. No nicks, no cuts, effortless. I recommend it to everyone. Supposedly, the head is made by Muhle. I very much prefer it over the Wilkinson Sword classic razor, which feels extremely cheap and came with an uneven safety bar and blade reveal.
The Russian made blades are very good, here in Europe they're standard issue Gilette blades, King C. Gilette is just a different package, it's the standard European Gilette blade. But for me, I prefer the Wilkinson sword blades a bit more because of durability.

This is the only handle that I can shave my head with without nicking or cutting myself too much. I have a couple of Super Speeds and a Black Beauty, but even those aren't mild enough for what my head needs. This combined with some sharp blades (Astra SP or Feather) works so well and it's only 15 euros in Germany.

I bought the King C. Gillette about a week after its release in Germany. And about four weeks after my resolution not to buy any more safety razors. But the design won me over, and the price was really, really good. EUR 15 for a three piece safety razor, that's not bad at all. I did not buy an extra package of blades, though. At 2.50 for 5 blades the price was outrageous. From an esthetic point of view, I like it better than the Gillette Heritage. The Heritage looks more like a typical Frankenrazor to me. Head is of the R89 type, handle similar to Merkur handles, which, in turn, are inspired by early 20th century Gillette models -- but only inspired, not exact duplicates. The only thing about it I liked is the case -- it really looks like a vintage Gillette product. Out of all safety razors you can currently buy in German drug stores, the King C. Gillette is the only one that is neither pot-ugly nor overpriced. As far as its shaving qualities are concerned: I find that it shaves almost identically to the Mühle R89. Note that the Mühle head might have improved since the introduction of brass screws. My razor landed on tile floor from a height of about 6' last summer and the head did not break of. So the Mühle might still be a superior product. I like the length of the King C. Gillette handle. I was being skeptical about the shallow knurling on the handle, but I can hold it with wet hands.

It's interesting seeing other people shave with double edged razors. It seems like almost everyone does something a little different. One thing I do differently than you is stay on the same side of the blade for a full pass and then switch sides between passes.

I would agree that the KCG is a pretty good razor. And it's extra cool that Gillette now has sold two new razor models in the past 2-3 years. I do prefer the Heritage - mostly because of the packaging and I don't need that extra long handle. But KCG is well balanced for that length handle and as you say the knurling sits where it's needed and works well. I wouldn't dig at the 34C (or 34G, same but in gold) as I see that as the standard which all other razors are measured against - and few fare well in the comparison. I hold my 34C (and 34G) ahead of both these new Gillettes, but they are good razors. Also, mild or more efficient ("aggressive" I use when what I used makes my neck turn red), I have almost never used a razor that didn't do the job in three passes. I do three with more efficient razor and I do three with mild ones. You just have to have an even lighter touch on the more efficient ones with more blade feel.

Just back to basic; I'm so fed up with all those hyper tech shaving mumbo jumbo (ie fusion blades) another €15 for 100 blades and I'm set for at least a year.
