@@alexeyshibanov1714 The Wilkinson TTO is a rebranded Weishi 9306-P (same head as Van Der Hagen). The Weishi head (which is basically a Super Speed clone) has positive blade exposure, unlike the Merkur CC/OC or Mühle CC head (the KCG head is a Mühle R89 head knock off - there's some speculation it's made my Mühle) which have negative blade exposure.
The Weishi head also has a comparably small blade gap which means a narrower window of ideal attack angles.
So you have to use the Weishi head with a lighter touch or else it will bite you, while the other heads aforementioned are more forgiving.

wasn't too happy with merkur 23c, it worked but felt like it took too much effort, may still use it if i missed spots when shaving since it's a bit more accessible.
i stuck with it for a pretty long time, quess i was a bit sick of razors though.
but bought this one since i saw it in a local store, it worked pretty well but feels heavy, did end up using straight razors since i found one in my dads appartment though. and i plan on experimenting a little with muhle r41 at some point.
kcg blades feels really nice to me though, i'd rather find something else though.
feather or dorco prime platinum blades seem ok, but usually won't work well for more than two shaves.

I think you finally made a believer out of me on the Feather blades. I always thought they were a little too pricey and too sharp. I tried one in the Twig and Oh My! What a good shave. So I found some at 40 cents each and I bought 50. I found that I can get 3 to 4 shaves, possibly even 5 in the Twig using a Feather. That means somewhere between 6 and 10 shaves out of one DE blade. That makes them competitive with the other blades I have been using and what a great shave I get with the Feather. BBS. Thank you Sinatra Lennon!

I would HIGHLY recommend using Aloe Vera on your skin after you shave, and I am talking about fresh Aloe Vera directly from the plant, just apply the gel directly on your face, it's so soothing and gets rid of bumps and irritation. I know it's fun to use aftershaves because of the different scents, but there are so many chemicals in there that are bad for your skin and age your skin faster, go natural is better.

Bought one of these and coupled it with a Gillette shaving gel and a Nivea balm (easy to find in Europe), both for sensitive skin. First time shaving with a safety razor, it was a nice experience, very smooth, no razor burn mostly thanks to the sharp razor and fantastic balm. Got 2 small nicks, not gonna lie, when going against the grain but I'll get used to the angle in a week or two I guess. Used a regular cartridge Gillette razor before and for the past 3 years I used a Philips OneBlade, shaving on a dry face. It was decent, getting 80 to 90% of the hair removed but it's been a while since I felt that baby smooth feeling on my face. Overall I'm pleased with the King C Gillette safety razor and I'll stick to it in regards of what I use to shave. Thank you for your videos, very informative for newcommer to the world of safety razors. I do have one question though: what double edged blades do you recommend? I guess all have the same shape and fit multiple brands of safety razors, I have 5 that came with the razor, should I go Wilkinson, Feather, Astra or stick to these King C blades, all are affordable?

KCG is available everywhere in the world, mostly in physical stores, in Europe it costs almost 50% less than in the US because of the competition. You can buy Muhle, Golddachs (Timor) and Erbe razors in my local drugstore for as low as 25 Euros and Wilkinson Sword Premium for 15. $30 for KCG would simply not be acceptable. Here people mostly buy wet shaving equipment in physical stores because wet shaving never went away like in the US.

But then my barber suggested Feather blades, and it made a HUGE difference. I recently got myself a Parker Variant, but unfortunately, they sent the wrong blades with it,. They're Astra Platinum. I've heard plently of good about them, but for me, the first shave is OK as long as I'm careful, but then sahve no.2, and nicks and cuts galore again. I hope that my Feathers turn up soon.

If I want to leave a blade in longer then I'll use a BIC and swap it out after 5 uses at the latest. The BIC blades and Feather blades are a bit weird compared to each other, for the first shave Feather is sharpest then it drops to the level of a new BIC, the BIC blades on the other hand start the same as a once used Feather then once the coatings wear off they sharpen up to the level of a new Feather and stay there for a while. The BICS also cost much less too, so maybe worth a try if you can get them.

I never liked my King C or Heritage because they are too mild. MecLoader mentioned using a Feather 🪶 and I just got done with my shave. King C and a feather 🪶. Why did I not think of this before? You use a feather 🪶 all the time and it never dawned on me to pair the 2. Man what a great shave. Some of the simplest solutions pass right over us sometimes. 🤨🧐🤔🤯 Have a wonderful evening Brian.

SinatraLennon, I have both the King C. Gillette and Van Der Hagen razors. They both do a good job. What I would suggest as a revisit to the Van Der Hagen would be try it again with a shim in there. It might provide a better shave with that.

I've been using the King C. Gillette for about a year now as my daily driver, as they say. It has held up extremely well and for the most part still looks brand new. I found the handle to be a bit slick for my taste, so I cured that by putting some "heat shrink tubbing" on the handle to give it more like a rubber handle. I guess I'm just old school... Gillette razor, 7'oclock sharp edge, Williams Mug shave soap and Pinaud Clubman aftershave. Can it get any better than that? Sure, but that will do for me right now... Enjoy the videos. I'd never owned a safety razor until today. I picked one of these up for 5 £/GBP(6.35 $/USD for those of you across the pond). My local supermarket has them on clearance. There were loads of them. At that price, I'm weighing up if it's worth buying a bunch more purely for the blades. 😅

I`ve tried King C blades and they suck... Not that they are absolutely awful, but comparing them to other blades to much pulling on them. Best for me so far are Wilkinson, Bic and Sputnik. It was interesting to find out that Feather and Astra Platinum give me too much razor burn, `cause my skin is quite sensitive. But those three are enough sharp to take the wiskers without rasor burn. I`m not sure if it could be juct me not having enough experience with DE razor. But having a test package of blades is mandatory for starters and you can revisit some of the things you tried earlier. Who knows, maybe later I would enjoy Feather and Astra.

    • @haydenwayne637

I use Feathers in relatively aggressive razors BECAUSE I have a sensitive neck (everywhere else is ok). The minimum number of passes needed and the fact I need no pressure at all gives the best result, much better than mild razors and mild blades.
