My understanding of lay flat hammocks is that the sleeping pad is a crucial aspect of the set up in order to make it truly a lay flat situation. But that seemed to come close even without the sleeping pad.
I've looked at that for too long now. I may have to go ahead and pull the trigger on it. Thanks for showing us the ins and outs of it. I'm from Jackson County, MS. Ever hear of it? Haha

I didn’t use a sleeping pad with this one. One it was too hot, two it was pretty comfortable without it
The Haven't xl and Amok work off of the sleeping pad but not the layflat it works off of the spreader bars.

Only worked there 15 years!! I really can not wait to try this hammock out again in the fall.
