    I think with adding all the HP, they should inform people about the transmission and what HP it can handle. Seems like there are a lot of questions surrounding this subject.

      I had an auto Toyota 86 with cat-back, supercharger, and an ecu tuned on the dyno. I got it to 300whp but detuned it to 280 to give me peace of mind (tuned on 98 octane). It wasn't a garage queen but I wouldn't say I thrashed it. Drove it hard enough to enjoy it, but not enough to wreck it. Lasted about 70,000km with no problems before I sold it. I would 100% recommend the supercharger mod despite how expensive it is. It'll never be a WRX or M3 killer, but at least you won't have to downshift and floor it every time you want to overtake or pull out on the freeway. I could've sworn the engine thanked me for not revving it out to go fast anymore too.

    Well I can vouch for this company. I have a 2016 FRS with the HKSV3 supercharger and all the supporting much to go with it plus more. I even went so far to have them to you in the car. My nearest Ecutek tuner is about 200 miles away and Graham has done an excellent job. Don’t know the exact horse power of my vehicle but should be netting around 250 with stock internals. FRS JAKE hold on, the high revs rule is only for the stock vehicle, if you put a twin screw it's going to gain a faster acceleration at low rpms, that's exactly why you want a supercharger!

    • @kuromurasaki5273
      @kuromurasaki5273 5 лет назад +9

      @@LinkinPark4Ever1996 yah, if you just want to rev high, buy a RX-8 or S2000 and get that 9k+ redlines going on. For the majority of people for the majority of driving, a twin screw for the low end torque increase is the way to go; you only lose a bit up top while gaining more down low.
      Question, why would you go centrifugal instead of a good turbo if you want high end power?

    question relating to Centri-superchargers (more specifically the Rotrex SCs), can you position the Throttle body infront of the SC like most people do with the roots/twin screw SCs, or do you HAVE to put it after the SC like in turbos? my questioning for this is to reduce the need for a BOV (which i have seen a lot of people running a BOV with the Rotrex when the TB is after the SC)!

I have my eye on an Injen cold air intake that seems to function as a short ram intake (at least from what I’ve read). • @monikhushalpuri
      @monikhushalpuri Месяц назад

      I know it's 5 years late but sounds like you have a crankcase ventilation issue with blowby from the added boost which is normal pushing out the crankshaft seals...you need to replace your pcv and add a catchcan or delete it and plumb the leftover pcv lines with a catch can set up pre supercharger to help keep crankcase pressures low...the delete part is a super old school solution that should work on most cars even today but I would still check and do some research to see the best options

      Hail No Hero Going for the HKS V2 supercharger and uprated clutch, takes it to 270bhp and no need to upgrade your exhaust, though i have an aftermarket one. With turbo you do have to upgrade the exhaust. I chose to go supercharger/ 1-easier to live with day to day 2-less maintenance 3- similar boost levels to turbo and can go past 270bhp with same supercharger if want to go down the forge route. 4- not many cars have superchargers unlike turbo they are everywhere so having a supercharger is more unique in my opinion and lastly 5- the power levels are more predictable than having a big turbo on and i love the noise a supercharger makes. Thanks mix✨🌟⭐️💫

      I've been running my Jackson Racing supercharger for over two year, and had it remote tuned by Delicious Tuning. I'm making 260 whp and 195 Torque at 11PSI. I've had no issues with my setup and taken the car to the track twice last year. I'll mention I do have supporting mods to keep the system reliable.

      A twin screw is far more efficient than a centrifugal and positive displacement means you have boost at all RPMs.

    Guys, I'm not boasting about the Camaro... I'm a bit confused. I have a '14 frs now, love it, and am considering pushing up the power. My previous was a '12 camaro SS (400 hp (factory) LS-1). [One Sunday morning some assh*** T-boned me and totaled it.] With a new K&N filter, racing headers, exhaust, and mufflers, a sweet cam and a genius tune I went up to 600 hp on the dyno and the tuner told me if I didn't mind a rough daily drive I could easily get 700. No turbo or supercharger anywhere. That's a 50-75% increase , normally aspirated, for $4300 (including labor), out the door. Is there something magic about that LS-1 small block as compared to the FRS I-4? Between $4-$5 K, or more, (parts only) for a 40% increase in power for the FRS? What am I missing here?

    • @nthgth
      @nthgth 3 года назад

      Big fan of the LS engines myself.
      Your car didn't have an LS1 though, it was the L99 (if the 400 factory hp is accurate). Still awesome engine.
      Also the Toyobaru twins have a flat-4 (H-4), not I-4.
      To answer your question:
      I believe it's that these cars (I currently daily an FR-S too and miss driving a V-8) come from the factory in a high state of tune already.
      That's the problem with small-displacement engines.
      A key here is "specific output," aka power per liter. The higher that is, the less room for improvement there is - the harder it is to squeeze out much more power.
      It's like if your Camaro came from the factory with 620 hp NA from the 6.2L. How much more do you think you could get NA? Some, but not a ton. Just like the FR-S.
      Alternatively, suppose the Camaro still had 400 hp, but from a 4.0L NA V-8 that revved to 7400. Essentially two FR-S engines. It would be the same as an FR-S - not a ton of room for added power without boost.
      That's why there really is no replacement for displacement.

    • @nthgth
      @nthgth 3 года назад

      And your Camaro's massive power gain for not a whole lot of money is exactly why the GM small-block (namely the port-injection LS family) is so awesome. That plus how they sound, their relative light weight, low initial cost, reliability, modest fuel consumption, compact size... Lol

    I'm confused, if a linear superchargers generate the same boost across the rpm band, how does replacing the pulley and spinning it faster make it give more boost?

    • @mightbesherwood1313
      @mightbesherwood1313 6 лет назад

      merkantelismo Spinning it faster forces more air into the engine. Cramming more air creates more pressure - that's the boost.

    • @nthgth
      @nthgth 3 года назад

      @@mightbesherwood1313 I think OP's question was that it spinning it faster via engine revving higher doesn't increase boost, why does spinning it faster via smaller pulley increase it?
      To which I think the answer is that with increased engine revs, Yes, it shoves more air in, but since the engine is spinning faster, it's consuming more air too, and it evens out. With this type of charger.

    Just out of curiosity how much would a turbocharger ruin gas mileage

    • @kuromurasaki5273
      @kuromurasaki5273 5 лет назад

      I would say it depends on tune as some manufacturers use forced induction to increase mpg; but in the end mpg comes down to environment (temps, hills, road surface, tire compound and pressure, etc), traffic (lights, stop signs, other people/gridlock, etc), and your personal driving habits (flooring it versus mild acceleration, coasting to lights instead of hard braking when you get close, keeping speeds as low as you can in as high as gear as you can without lugging it, etc).
      I got 40.1 mpg on an interstate trip on a brand new automatic BRZ a friend bought. I've gotten almost 100 mpg in a Civic Hybrid from 2005 on an interstate trip. I've gotten 45 mpg in a 99 Accord sedan on an interstate trip. I've had an old Pontiac that got 9 mpg no matter how I drove it! ;)
      So, drive calm, get more mileage, but most people are going to drive harder and probably see a 10-20% decrease minimum in mpg hearing the whine of a SC or the spool up and bov of a turbo. Had a Eclipse Sypder GS-T I couldn't tell you the mpg I got, but I could tell you I would spool it up and let it blow off that pressure A LOT lol

      You technically could, I think it’s called twin charging. People use it to reduce the disadvantages of both boost methods. I’m no expert but I would think if you were to twincharge a stock 86 you would blow the engine pretty fast. Not to mention the complexity in the system since you have to have the supplementary components for both the supercharger and turbo charger.
